what tv shows can you watch over and over again without getting tired of them? is there a character that took time for you like but now you adore them?
The show I can watch over and over again without getting tired of it is Buffy the vampire slayer because its nostalgic and still great. Yes I still find fault in it. The body makes me a wreck still, but it reminds me of who I was and through everything I have been through since it still is so comforting to me. I would have said Veronica Mars but season 4 is a hard pass for me .
The character that took time for me to like but now I adore... John Murphy. I mean the first season was rough for him, but I could not stand him, but when he met Emori traveling with Jaha... it was the point when I was like hmm he has good in him. He is now one of my all time favorites now, so no judge a book by their cover I guess
Thank you so much for the asks Ily

Hi, what are your favorite TV shows?
Hi Nonny!
I have lots, and I'm probably going to forget some, lol. I'll just list as many as I can think of.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the series, Alias, Bones, Glee, Veronica Mars, Roswell (the OG series), Roswell New Mexico, 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Lonestar, Outlander.
I know there's more, but I am sleepy and can't think of them, lol.
I've also been watching a lot of Asian boys love dramas in the last year, and some of those favorites are Until We Meet Again, La Pluie, I feel You Linger in the Air, Manner of Death, Pit Babe, Bed Friend, and Love in the Air.

Hello.... If you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them...Thanks if you want to answer....
That is a very broad ask and I am very bad at lists so I will only speaks of ships that I think have some formative long lasting impact for me.
Lizzie and Gordo were my first live action ship.
My very first ship was from an anime, Their og names were Sana and Akito from Kodomo No Omocha. I knew it as Rossana (Italian name). This ships was my childhood!! When I was a baby that was basically the age of the actual characters. There are a few other anime with ships that got me, like Card Captor Sakura and Tokyo Mew Mew.
Buffy x Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
There are a couple of misc Disney/Nick and Italian Shows ships that I loved but I wouldn't consider formative. Except for Logan and Quinn from s4 of Zoey 101. Unfortunatly the author that must no longer be named is in this as well. Originally Ron and Hermione then Draco and Harry later. There is also a few that I think are too obsocure like Wicked Sciene (Toby and Elisabeth) and Wildfire (Chris and Junior) or the Sleepover Club (Frankie and Mattew for s1 and Charlie and Jason for s2).
Veronica and Logan from Veronica Mars - They were everything to me, I remain devasted about the so called s4, I have not been able to watch this show again since I saw s4.
Set and Summer from the OC (don't judge too much I was a teenager)
Lovely Complex was also an anime I loved
And Toradora
Enjolras and Grantire (frist MLM ship I started reading fics for)
GMW Farkle and Riley + Styles and Lydia and Stranger Things (though I never shipped byler nothing against the ship I just don't see it) -> The first two fandoms that brought me on tumblr.
From early tumblr years we also have:
Evak (and various spin offs)
Keith and Lance from Voltron
Newsies (various ships)
Star Wars, Rogue One in specific. And Still Star Crossed which I will stay mad that they cancelled!!!! Benvolio and Rosaline were such a great ship.
Some famous YA Books: Red White and Royal Blue; Six Of Crows Ari and Dante; Simon VS.
There are obviously many many more. But these are the ones that I think made more of an impact. I used to be the kind of person that likes canon ships, and took me a while to understand non canon shipping and get on board with non-canon shipping. I was mostly over it by the time I got too tumblr. But it took a while longer, when I start to get into queer ships, that I started to see the appeal. I hesitated with queer ships at first because it didn't feel like I should be shipping that, since I thought I was straight at the time. So I was a late bloomer in terms of non-canon ships and queer ships.
Then of course there is the BL era (which I am still on) which honestly should be a list of it's own, there is way too many. But I have to shout out the very first BL ships I had, which are the ones that made me fall in love with the genre
DeanPharm from UWMA
AePete from Love By Chance
And shout out to this nice anime movie (I started watching Yaoi before we really had that many live action, but I kept finding list with raccomendation with problematic contents, which I am more ok with now but at the time it turned me off so this movie was a nice little change): Doukyuusei
My favorite ships dynamics are friend to lovers, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers; Or anything that involves two characters having a deep bond/connection (rival, friends, bodyguard, savior, soulmate) before they start dating.
Thanks for the ask, I hope you enjoyed it, I tried to be as varied as I could.

Jess Watches // Mon 25 Mar // Day 180 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
The Newsreader (with mum) 2x01 Decision 87
It's one year on and Helen and Dale are now established as 'The Golden Couple of News'. It's Election Night 1987 - Hawke vs Howard. Competitor Geoff Walters is also making a comeback on a rival network.
The rampant sexism and expected submissiveness of women throughout was infuriating, but it makes very compelling tv. I just want to protect Helen and Noels from all the misogynist aresholes. I hope Dale and Robbo prove their love and loyalty to them.
The Patient (with mum) 1x03 Issues
Sam's desire to find a therapeutic solution grows as his inner struggle intensifies. Dr. Strauss brings a new variable into their sessions.
Why can't women sing at Jewish weddings? She had a lovely voice. And using Sam's mum to try and get him to stop murdering people would be an effective method on me because I'd do anything to help protect my mum. Not that I'd ever need a serial killer intervention. Not yet anyway. 👀🔪
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (rw) 3x15 Consequences
A homicide detective closes in on Buffy and Faith as he investigates the deputy mayor's death.
The gay goggles were ON this ep:
Buffy having a dream about Faith pushing her head down.
Cordelia bristling at Buffy calling her just a 'friend'.
Faith touching B's shoulder to guide her out of the library into an empty classroom in which they lock the door to talk.
"I know what you're feeling because I'm feeling it, too."
Them telling different stories about their night in Faith's apartment.
Buffy crying to Willow that Faith doesn't even care about what happened between them.
Buffy fumbling over her words as she comes out to Giles.
Buffy not wanting to hear how Xander slept with Faith.
Faith using Xander as a substitute for Buffy.
"Yeah, because you and me are such solid buds, right?"
"You can't handle watching me living my own way, having a blast, because it tempts you! You know it could be you!"
The heavy breathing and prolonged staring after Faith saves B's life.
Six Feet Under (rw) 2x01 In the Game
A drug-addicted actress dies from a cocaine overdose and leaves her fellow cast and crew members to set up the funeral.
Ruth trying to communicate better with her gay and lesbian (looks at Claire 👀) children is so endearing. She really is trying her best. And I knew it was only a matter of time before Nate unknowingly took the hidden ecstasy pill from the aspirin bottle. He was so tactile with everyone around him. To get to talk to his dad again and see Life and Death fuck nasty was a lot to process. For him and for me.

(Spike scoffs) XANDER: Look me in the eyes, and tell me when you saw Buffy alive, that wasn't the happiest moment of your entire existence.

In no particular order except what flashed in my head first....
1. National Christmas vacation and 2. Die Hard at Christmas. (Seriously, the woodstove going, a cozy blanket, a snowy day and my movies)
3. The Crow (original with Brandon Lee)
4. 10 inch hero (Jensen Ackles as Priestly is so good and the movie feels like a big hug)
5. Clueless and 6. 10 things I hate about you, both have such nostalgia attached for me
7. Seven isn't a single movie but a small collection of old action movies my husband and I have watched so many times over the years. Not because they are particularly good but for the comfort they bring for some reason. Passenger 57 (Wesley Snipes, always bet on black), Cliffhanger (Sylvester Stallone and a shitton on snow), The Rock (Sean Connery and Nic Cage), Under Siege (Steven Seagal), Beverly Hills Cop 2 (the incomparable at that time Eddie Murphy), and more.
Have to give an honourable mention to Buffy the Vampire Slayer because it's FUNNY and introduced me to a character that would have a massive impact on me when she hit my tv screen.
Now let's knock this up a step, 7 current fav comfort tv shows
1. supernatural ♥️♥️
2. Walker
3 and 4 were cancelled last spring but Walker: Independence and the Winchesters
5. Veronica Mars
6. Shows from my childhood or teens like Knight Rider, Dallas, Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson's Creek, etc.
7. Did I mention supernatural? Well it needs mentioned again because yeah....
Honourable mention to all the many soaps I used to watch religiously most of my life especially General Hospital.
tagging @fallenfar @dadrockenjoyer @youraveragedorkysimp @fogsrollingin @ani-coolgirl @supernaturalkickparty also @jinkieswouldyoulookatthis to get your tv shows as well if you want.
Tagged by @hurricanejane and @nameslikeguns to list 7 comfort movies and tag 7 people...
The Lost Boys
The Princess Bride
The Fifth Element
Moana
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Empire Records
tagging @penciltrace, @spnj2fanlw, @brookesallow, @bossymarmalade, @pookeenpie, @macabre-echoes, @lovetransaction
but obviously, y'all don't have to if you don't want to, and if you aren't tagged bu you want to, then consider yourself tagged and do it

Why in Angela Kang I Trust
Maybe because I've been bruised and battered by showrunners and exec producers when it comes to couples and have also been rewarded (very, very, VERY rarely -- OK, like once), that is why I'm feeling positive about Caryl with regards to the spoilers.
Lemme give a bit of my history. I've had sooooo many couples, it's not even funny. I'm beyond a couple-girl. I've been involved in Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Vampire Diaries, Veronica Mars, The 100, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandoms (and many more). Yeah, so I've been through some ups and downs in the fandoms themselves and with the end result of the product/my couple preference.
Two of the things that these fandoms taught me were (a) critical analysis of the product taking *everything* into account and not just my couple, and (b) how to deal with spoilers to keep myself sane.
NOTE: This is how I deal. I'm not telling anyone else how to feel or deal. This is my bag and what works for me and why I'm personally totally, 100% positive about Caryl despite the recent spoilers.
In one of my fandoms, I was heartbroken by how an episode played out. It made no sense to me. I had analyzed everything, paid attention to all the road signs... how could I have been so wrong? How could she choose the other guy??! It took a few weeks, but I re-thought everything and realized that I had been so focused on analyzing MY couple that I had ignored the OTHER couple. I had ignored the other aspects of the show and that other aspect mattered. It was like a bomb went off in my head. Suddenly something so obvious was now so clear to me.
From that moment on when I analyzed the show, I analyzed every character, every aspect of it and I gotta tell you all I just about nailed every character plot point. Not the twists/turns, but the emotional, character beats? I was right as rain on those. Because here's the obvious thing, no showrunner/headwriter is ever going to write for ONE character, ONE couple. They are going to write for every single character, every single couple. And if they are good writers they aren't going to take fanfic-like shortcuts to get them where we would like them to be, they are going to dig deep and explore who they are as characters to bring them organically to where they belong.
So... The Walking Dead. Angela Kang. Daryl Dixon. Carol Peletier. Caryl. (FINALLY! Ya'll say.) Angela Kang is a GOOD showrunner/headwriter. She brought TWD back from the disaster that Scott Gimple had made of the show. Seriously, I think 3-4 seasons went by and only 2 months had passed in that time. It was mostly a slow-moving morass of nothing happening with most characters doing nothing, barely connecting. Blech! It was mostly just not good. She whipped this show into shape.
Kang also took a long look at Carol, Daryl and Caryl and realized that in order to get them where they needed to be... which was TOGETHER ROMANTICALLY, they needed a helluva lot of work because Gimple had done ABSOLUTE SHIT with them for about 4 years. They had barely a handful of scenes over that time period, had been mostly separated and both characters had been decimated in completely different ways.
Carol's grief, guilt and horrendous actions had been completely and utterly sublimated. She told no one (including Daryl) about what happened with all of the children she had lost by her hand or through she felt because of her. So what did Kang do? She used the relationship that Gimple had begun with Ezekiel to create this fairytale fantasy that Carol could escape to since she couldn't be with her Alexandria family anymore because of that grief and guilt. She gave her that respite and escape until she was ready to live with the reality of all she'd done.
And then she opened the door to that grief and guilt with Henry's death, destroying that fairytale/fantasy so that she could finally begin to heal. And that is what we are finally getting now, a healing Carol. She's not whole yet, but she's stronger and she is healing. She's no longer hiding in some fantasy, she's no longer drowning in grief. And she's with her family again. She's come home.
I'm sure just as Kang looked at Carol, she also looked at Daryl and saw how Gimple had turned him into a monosyllablic follower. So, through the last two seasons, she's been building him up as the leader who's stepping up and also... HE SPEAKS! That's really the big thing, but it's such, such a big thing.
Finally, Caryl. To begin with, Kang's first episode made it perfectly obvious that it was a Zeke/Carol/Daryl triangle. However, because it's been sooooooooooooo long and the Caryl crowd has been battered for so long and the ABC crowd is so loud and even the media doesn't immediately jump to it despite the popularity of Caryl the obviousness of it just wasn't obvious. But the way Zeke proposed to Carol to which she did not say yes, his undying declaration of love to which she did not respond in kind to the way she curled up (yes, curled up!) against Daryl to tell him about said proposal and his response, clearly not happy about it, but willing to give her the go-ahead if she was happy was so obvious. I mean, DUDE! Yeah, that was textbook triangle material with the guy proposing being the clear loser in the equation in the long run. And that was Angela Kang's first episode as showrunner!
Everything that followed--the secret visits to him, her cutting his hair, her trust in him and vice-versa--to her leaving Zeke behind in Hilltop and going with Daryl to Alexandria, yeah, all of that was clearly going to be how that "triangle" ended based on that first episode. But so many Caryl fans were heartbroken, upset, furious about the Carol/Zeke spoilers. Of course, they were. We had no idea what Kang had in store. We'd been burned and battered and used and ignored by TWD, AMC, Gimple, et al. How could we possibly know that Kang had a plan all along and that the Carol/Zeke relationship was about paying time and attention to Carol's character and establishing a subtle triangle with Daryl in which he would emerge the victor?
But that's exactly what Angela Kang did. And then in season 10 she made it clear numerous times that it--only her second as showrunner--would feature the relationship of Carol and Daryl at the heart of it. So I have a few points I want to make regarding the upcoming spoilers taking ALL of the above that I've written into account:
1. Spoilers are tricky things. You simply can not know what is what until you actually watch the episode and even see the full arc play out. When you have a good showrunner/headwriter who has a plan and knows the path planned for the characters--one who has proven they know what they're doing--wait until you see what they are actually doing before assuming the roof is falling in. At least that's my philosophy.
2. I mentioned how the obviousness of the triangle aspect set-up in Kang's first episode as showrunner was so missed and a part of that is because of the fact that there is too much ambiguity in how Caryl and Daryl see one another. Is it friendship? Is it a mother/son (pfft! So fucking ridiculous!) relationship? Is it a sibling-like relationship? Or is it romantic/sexual? (YES, IT IS!) This very well may be what answers that question. (It’s the last one. It’s definitely the last one.)
3. 10x18 is STILL a part of season 10. According to Angela Kang, the heart of season 10 is the relationship of Carol and Daryl.
Finally, there are two characters left from the first season of this ten (of eleven) season show. Carol and Daryl. There is going to be a spin-off featuring Carol and Daryl. A character that Daryl has some sort of history with when he thought he lost Carol when she was married to someone else (after he had lost Rick) is NOT going to suddenly, randomly become the ONE to come between Carol and Daryl.
It doesn’t matter that this character is coming back in the final season. Sorry, not sorry, but it just does not. Carol and Daryl are the ONE for each other. This character is just another Ezekiel, a part of their story. Angela Kang has been organically, effortlessly rebuilding Carol and Daryl, and Caryl back up from the neglect and abuse that they suffered (especially Carol and Caryl) under Scott Gimple.
This is why I trust in Angela Kang.

rules: you can usually tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to! put your music library on shuffle and list the first 10 songs then tag 10 people
In this round I was tagged by @helloeurydice, @bookwormforalways and @igotbellarkeforthat. Thank you lovelies!
1. KRWLNG by Mike Shinoda feat. Aaron Lewis. It's good to hear Linkin Park again, but also a little weird after what happened with Chester :(
2. Miles Apart by Nick Wilson. I can't remember adding this to my playlist, but it's nice!
3. Troubled Times by Fountains of Wayne. This brings me back to the Veronica Mars times. I miss the greatness of the earlier seasons. Heard some spoilers about the newest season so I won't be watching that...
4. When the End Comes by Andrew Belle.
5. Never Ending Story by Limahl. Oh the nostalgia! This tune still gives me happy feels!
6. Crash into me by Dave Matthews Band. Love this one 🧡
7. Dearly Beloved by Christophe Beck.
Can't even find a link to this but I'm not surprised! Love the score to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but these kinds of tunes was so difficult to get ahold of back when Buffy was still airing. I managed to gather quite many of them in the end though, thanks to scrounging around on napster, kazaa and/or limewire. Anyone else who still remember these old programs? 😅
8. Liberty Belle by Super Furry Animals.
9. Only Everything by Quinn Lewis. Another one I can't remember adding.
10. The Other by Lauv. I think I discovered Lauv by the end of 2019, and was planning to see him live after I found out he was having a show in Stockholm in early 2020. But by then the virus made it's appearance so I didn't get the chance :/
I think most have done this, but if anyone wants to do another round I'm tagging: @burninghoneyatdusk, @moreflowersthanweeds, @nakey-cats-take-bathsss, @heartbellamy, @talistheintrovert, @useyourtelescope, @infp-with-all-the-feelings, @pendragaryen, @kinetic-elaboration, @eyessharpweaponshot & @bellamyblake 👋🏼 feel free to skip it if you don't wanna do it :)

It's 2021, and I'm watching Buffy for the first time.
The Virgil on my Buffy journey is my long-distance girlfriend, who has loved the show for years. We just finished season 4, and I wanted to write about my favorite episodes so far. I suspect some of my faves are beloved by most fans, but others are weird, personal picks. Buffy fandom, please don't come for me.
I thought this post would be short but I was wrong.
Hono(u)rable Mentions: "Band Candy" S3E6 and "Halloween" S2E6
Both these episodes have fun premises where the Scoobies run around Sunnydale after it was upended by zany, chaotic dark forces. "Band Candy" is fun for devil-may-care teen Giles. "Halloween" is fun for 18th-century-ditz Buffy. These are both very good, and are the sorts of episode I can imagine happily rewatching in the future. I just have more to pontificate upon for the other episodes on this list.
10. "Ted" S2E11
I can’t say I enjoyed this episode, but it did take me for a wild ride. Probably nobody else has strong feelings about this weird story where Buffy's mom dates a stereotypical cheesy family man, who turns out to be a controlling abuser, who turns out to be a robot. I remember shouting at the screen, "Did Buffy just kill a human man?? Is it okay in the moral logic of this show for Buffy to kill a human if he's a direct physical threat to her??" I knew Buffy would have deeper stories than the monster of the week formula we'd seen so far, but this early in season 2, I had no idea when or how that would happen. This was the episode that finally taught me that Buffy is largely not interested in moral ambiguity, or in exploring what it means to be good or bad. Except for season-defining exceptions like Faith and Angel, evil characters are simplistically, essentially evil. But it was wild to believe for a moment that Buffy murdered her mom's abusive boyfriend and would have to live with the consequences.
9. "Helpless" S3E12
When Buffy tries to be genuinely scary, it succeeds with aplomb. The premise of this episode is dumb and contrived ("Giles has to remove Buffy's powers without her knowledge for a seeeecret test by the Watcher's Council") but the chase and fight in this episode are some of the most tense and spooky scenes of the whole series so far. Buffy's vulnerability makes the stakes feel real in a way few other episodes manage. And Buffy's victory is all the more satisfying because she can't punch her way out of this problem, she has to be smart and creative. The fridge horror, of course, is that Giles would endanger her like this in the first place, but that gets sorted out over the emotional arc of the next few episodes.
8. "I Only Have Eyes For You." S2E19
Another spooky episode, this one a classic ghost story of forbidden love ending in murder - but with the twist that the ghosts possess people's bodies to have them reenact their final moments. I love stories about breaking a doomed-to-repeat cycle. I love weird shit like the snakes manifesting in the cafeteria. And I really loved the choice to have Buffy and Angel come to understand their feelings about their own relationship by embodying these ghosts - especially how they embodied different genders than their own to better fit the "roles" of the haunting story, thus subverting the expected pattern. I found this episode clever, poignant, and effective.
7. "Who Are You?" S4E16
"Faith and Buffy switch bodies" is a wild premise, but the real joy of "Who Are You?" is watching Sarah Michelle Geller being an extremely talented actress for 45 minutes, portraying a totally different character. Watching Faith confronted by kindness and love from Buffy's mom, Riley, and her friends, then getting launched into an existential crisis over it is so great. Also, I just dig a good church fight.
6. "Hush" S4E10
As stated above, love an episode that reminds me that these people are talented actors! Featuring demons that render all of Sunnydale unable to talk, we get to watch great physical comedy right next to tense, silent fight scenes. The visual creepiness of the Gentleman and their straight-jacketed weird little helpers is hard to beat. "Hush" is such a clever episode that it ascends monster of the week status to become almost Twilight Zone-esque. Also, for the first time, Buffy sees Riley doing his Initiative thing, and Riley sees Buffy being the Slayer, but they can't talk about it?? That's good shit.
5. "The Wish" S3E9
Both "Something Blue" and "The Wish" feel like the writers decided to use fanfic premises on their own show... so obviously I like them a lot. But getting to watch a dark timeline AU with interesting world-building and attention to detail, a hilarious and horrifying Cordelia POV, AND a smirking kinky vampire Willow? Hello?? And the fact that the Wishverse comes up again in "Doppelgänger" (another truly fun episode) only improves my opinion. I imagine this is the kind of episode fans simply love coming back to.
4. "Restless" S4E22
This David Lynch-ass dream sequence was a weird choice for a season finale, but an extremely ambitious and cool episode. I should say up front that I love David Lynch-ass dream shit. There were creative and well-executed scene transitions as characters moved seamlessly from one dream room into another. Several memorably neat shots - Willow running between endless curtains as she tries to get onstage, Buffy alone in a vast desert with a weirdly high camera angle. And I got myself all excited thinking that the First Slayer would maybe become a different kind of antagonist - maybe not even fully revealed in this episode, or maybe an Id-like aspect of Buffy herself. But I forgot Whedon gonna Whedon, so the First Slayer had to be someone Buffy could punch in the end. And the First Slayer is sadly yet another primitive-themed, emotionally-stunted character of color for this show. Most of her lines in this episode are literally voiced by a white woman speaking for her, and of all the dumb quips to make, Buffy had a line about her hair being unprofessional? Also, I'm a lesbian, so the fact that the most explicit act of intimacy between Willow and Tara this show has allowed us to see occurs in Xander's horny dream sequence... it’s unforgivable, Joss. This episode was one of my favorites ever, deeply marred by some bad writing choices.
3. "Lovers Walk" S3E8
Spike, perhaps the best non-Willow character in this show, is back in Sunnydale, a hilariously heartbroken mess of a man, hell-bent on getting his former girlfriend Drusilla back. (Drusilla left him for a fungus demon.) So Spike breaks into a magic shop to get ingredients for a love spell, where he runs into Willow, who is getting ingredients for a de-lusting spell, because she is worried she and Xander will be too thirsty to behave appropriately in public with their actual partners, Oz and Cordelia. This is a hilarious moment just to exist. This is all the episode needed to do to satisfy me. But the fact that Spike then kidnaps Willow, and it ends with tragic stakes of everyone's relationships coming apart, not to mention me genuinely thinking Cordelia was dead for a minute there - wow. Chef’s kiss. The episode is balanced shockingly well between Spike being an ominous villain, and being the sort of lovable semi-evil (more gremlin-like) side character he'll become in season 4. What a wild ride.
2. "Graduation Day" S3E21-22
I'm counting this two part season finale as one because it's my list and I'll do what I want. "Graduation Day" feels like a quintessential Buffy episode executed to perfection. It has Buffy reaffirming her position as a moral heroine, sacrificing her own blood to save Angel's life even when she thought she had to kill Faith to save him. It has Buffy and Faith (or Buffy/Faith, as I prefer to think of them) getting to square off in a dramatic, tough fight. It has a lot of Mayor Wilkins, a character I truly adore for some reason. Nothing like a public administrator who plays mini golf in his office, wants you to chew with your mouth closed, and will kill a graduating class of high schoolers to gain immortality. The catharsis of the whole school getting to fight back against evil, instead of just Buffy against the world - a real joy. This episode misses the top spot for two reasons. "A special vampire poison and the only cure is the blood of a Slayer" is too contrived for me to let slide, and also I had to see Cordelia and Wesley kiss.
1. "Becoming" S2E21-22
Buffy’s season finales really do have good stories and satisfying payoff. First off, Buffy starts this episode by punching a cop and fleeing from the law. Later, Spike also punches a cop. A.k.a., Buffy said blue lives don't matter. Second - I haven't gotten a chance to comment on this yet, but all throughout season 2, evil Angel is such a joy to watch. As regular Angel, David Boreanaz makes exactly one face ("I am a kicked, angsty puppy") and bless his heart, it gets so tiresome. As evil Angel, he is so expressive, dynamic and terrifyingly creative in his badness. And I love his weird threesome energy with Spike and Drusilla. But also, it's so hard to watch Buffy suffer as she deals with her evil boyfriend doing evil things. Her ultimate choice in this episode, to kill Angel even as Willow's spell restores his soul, gave me some real big feels! Also, this episode marks the first moment of Willow doing big, plot-shifting magic on her own, solidifying her transformation from computer nerd to witch!
Also, shout-out to the many good smaller moments in this episode: Spike making awkward small talk with Buffy's mom, Buffy constantly dunking on Principle Snyder, and Giles being tortured by visions of Miss Calendar (RIP Miss Calendar, I was your biggest fan.)
"Becoming" is an excellent season finale and the kind of Buffy episode I imagine I will want to re-watch in the future just for nostalgia's sake.
#buffy the vampire slayer#guess i will tag this and just engage in pvp if it happens#buffy fandom in 2021 i don't know you but please be nice#this was fun to write#i guess i do like this show!

Magical Girl Reunion Tour - C6
Sarah
Sometimes there seemed to never be enough space in her bag. Sarah hiked her bag back up on her shoulder as she climbed the steps to her small apartment. She wished she lived in a building with an elevator, but it was one of the many prices she paid for chasing her academic aspirations. At least her studio was large, if a bit strangely shaped. It had been remodeled before she moved in, and she quite enjoyed having her own small washer and dryer stacked by the fridge in its own alcove.
She unlocked her door. Once inside, she heaved her bag onto her bed and sighed in relief. Sarah had some time before office hours, so she'd thought she'd come home and eat while going over some of her dissertation work which was code for hunkering over left over take out while watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the fifth time with a notebook and a scowl. Sarah was beginning to think that doing a deep dive into the representation of women in late nineties and early two thousands genre television wasn't so good. What hadn't been talked about already? She tried to convince herself that her own magical experiences hadn't influenced her decision, but all she as doing was lying to herself.
The glass top of her stove clicked when she set a skillet on one of the burners. She turned it on and added some oil before opening the fridge to retrieve the box of left over sweet potato fries from the day before. She placed the box on the small square of counter and stared off to the other side of the room as she waited for the pan to heat. Looking over her possessions on the shelves framing the window on the other side of the room allowed her brain some time to focus as she catalogued her collection of books, shows, movies, and things. Academic tomes on feminism and film, sometimes both. The occasional fiction book. Seasons and seasons of shows, because she was one of those hardcopy people, most of them bent in a fantasy or science fiction direction. The worn copies of Veronica Mars always stood out. Movies were a different story. She only had so much space, so many of her films crowded hard drives instead of her precious shelf space, but she did have a few precious ones. Amongst her media - usually shoved in front of it - were a couple of photo frames and the occasional Funko Pop, gifts from friends. The photos were of her family, and one was of her high school friends in between the magic crime fighting.
Next to that photo lay her wand. She had long ago wondered if hiding it would have been smarter. The truth, she discovered, is that everyone thought it was some prop from some obscure genre show, maybe an anime. It's bright blue diamond textured handle, and pale blue orb patterned in little gold arrow heads could only be found in blurry twenty year old newspaper photos, but no one really questioned it. If they did, she said she made it up.
She crossed her arms and pursed her lips. Now that she had time to think, things had felt a little off lately. For one, her friend and down the hall neighbor Michelle hadn't sent her one cat gif in the last two days, and that was unlike her. Normally, her program coder friend would bounce down the hall at random or throw open her door to wave at Sarah as she headed off to class. Michelle was also a graduate student, albeit way more perky and put together that Sarah herself felt. Michelle was life and loved her work. And that is why she was worried.
She knew she was home, Sarah could hear Michelle's taste in obscure bands blaring through her door, no doubt upsetting the rest of her neighbors. She looked down at the sad box of sweet potato fries. No, today she would see if Michelle wanted something to eat. Maybe get her out of her apartment.
In the bathroom, she brushed out her wavy dark hair - resisting the temptation to tie it back up in a messy bun - and cleaned her glasses. She arranged her bag for her afternoon schedule. Now a lot lighter, tossed it over her shoulder. With her hand on her door knob, she paused and turned back to her shelves. Something was telling her to grab her wand. It was probably her intuition. It had always been pretty solid. Slipping her wand into her bag, she marched down the hall to Michelle's apartment.
"Michelle?" she called as she knocked. "It's Sarah. Want to go for lunch?"
No answer.
"Michelle?"
"Go away!"
Her hand hovered over the door. What? That was so unlike Michelle. Normally it was her yelling at Michelle to go away when she was struggling with some particularly hairy bit of theory. She hesitated, then knocked again. "Come on Michelle. Come eat. Then you can get back to whatever your doing."
The door flew open. Sarah recoiled from what she saw. Michelle stood framed by the door frame, gaunt and grey with dark circles around feral eyes. Her red hair was dirty and unkempt, and she still wore the clothes Sarah had last seen her in. Behind her, her massive computer set up glowed with an eerie light. Sarah narrowed her eyes. She knew what Michelle's computer set up looked like when she was working, and that wasn't it.
"Fuck off, Sarah," Michelle snarled. "All you do is get between me and my work with your… friendship."
Michelle tried to slam the door in Sarah's face, but she caught it. From Michelle's appearance, Sarah imagined she would be much weaker, but there was something supernaturally strong about her. A thought began to itch at the back of Sarah's brain. A thought she didn't like.
With a all her body weight, she shoved Michelle's door open. Michelle stumbled back into her studio apartment. It was the same size as Sarah's, so she practically stumbled into her desk chair, catching herself at the last moment on the edge of her desk.
"You're going to regret that," Michelle sneered.
"Look, you're sick," Sarah said placating, her hands up. "Did you find some strange magical device, uh, thing. It can look like anything. Maybe it was something that gave you a bad feeling, but you touched it anyway. It told you it would make you great. It would give you the skills you needed to achieve your dream. It knew your insecurities. It knew just what to say."
By Michelle’s hand, her mouse unfurled. It grew legs, six from by Sarah's guess and skittered up Michelle's arm. Michelle cried out in shock. Sarah rushed forward to pull it off her before it could reach the back of Michelle's neck. She grabbed her friend by the left shoulder and began to reach over her. With her unnatural strength, Michelle shoved her away. She tripped over the edge of a rug, smashing into the door frame, and spun around to land face down in the hall. Her bag had fallen off in the tumble, spilling its contents next to her. In the hall's dim lights, her wand glowed softly.
Michelle screamed. Sarah looked over her shoulder. The place where she had hit the door frame protested. She grit her teeth, ignoring it. She had to see.
The mouse had latched onto the back of Michelle’s neck and grown. Chitinous growths sprung from her neck and along her shoulders, slowly expanding down her arms and over her chest. It was the shiny black of the tech it had impersonated. Worry and dread ran through Sarah. Hitting someone covered in the stuff was like punching steel, and trying to hang onto her would be nearly impossible. The device would turn Michelle almost superhuman. There was only one answer.
She reached her hand out towards her wand, scooting forward, her hand outstretched. It flared the moment her fingers brushed it. Warmth flooded through her and a strange wash of joy. Sarah had long suspected that the wands might have their own feelings, but now was not the time to dwell on it. With the wand now firmly in her hand, she jumped to her feet, her wand in the air, and shouted, “Dress me in patience!”
Time slowed. Her arms stretched, one before her and one behind, as glittery golden light ran along them. In its wake soft, shiny gloves covered her once chipped nail polish. The light spread to her torso. She spun on her toes. The light revealed a vibrant blue short sleeved tunic, an enormous voluminous bow of soft blue at her throat. She kicked a leg up, drawn by the golden light. Bright blue, knee high boots and soft white leggings. Her arms over her head, she spun again, her loose hair drawn into an elegant braid, a gold band across her forehead. With a flash, she struck a pose. “I will not stop till this fight is through!”
Sarah tried to ignore how silly she felt. At least she had pants this time.
Michelle roared, if Sarah could even call her Michelle anymore. Her eyes were pure black and her skin had grown even whiter. The black growths had spread, giving her a tech-like armored look, all shiny black plates. “A Defender. How predictable.” She said, her voice layered with whatever magi-tech parasite the mouse had been.
Sarah held her wand out in her left hand. “Reveal your true form!” Another flash of glittery gold and she held a bow, soft blue with gold filigree. She grabbed the string with her right hand and drew it back, a streak of iridescent light appearing in place of an arrow. “Let Michelle go.”
The creature laughed, a twisted smile on its lips. “Did you really think I would make it that easy?” It spun around and dove out the window.
A scream wanted jump from Sarah’s lips. She tamped it down, dropping her right hand and running for the broken window. Fighting the urge to stop, she threw herself out into the air, spinning to face the sky. She grabbed her string, pulled, and shouted “Rainbow braid!” She let go. A streak of rainbow light shot towards the top of her building, embedding in the brick. She grabbed the line as it solidified and slid along it to the ground, moving much faster than she wanted to. Swallowing another scream, she hit the ground in a roll. Sarah jumped to her feet just in time to see the black armor of the creature, now having entirely swallowed Michelle, charging down the street still laughing.
Sarah dashed after her, arms pumping, the pain in her back forgotten. With her magically enhanced abilities, she caught up to the creature quickly. The creature hadn’t just been running from her. It had been busy. A cloud of technical components surrounded her. Broken bits of cell phone screens, computer boards, SD cards, and other bits stolen from the screaming crowd orbited the creature as she whipped around to face Sarah.
The pieces began combine, turning into four orbiting satellites. There was the gleam of camera lenses, the glitter of metal, the shine of the black material that covered Michelle. The creature had used a piece of itself to create whatever circled it now. Sarah wasn’t going to find out. She raised her bow, the streak of light appearing when she drew the string, and fired. The magical arrow bounced off an invisible force before the creature, leaving a blue ripple in its wake. She fired a couple more times. Same effect.
The creature laughed in its strange voice. And then it multiplied. Four of the armor-plated creatures stood before her. Sarah struggled not to look dumb-struck. The parasites drew on their host’s passions, their work. What had Michelle been working on again? Some kind of encrypted security software that automatically made back-ups of whatever the user was working on. And protected it.
She swallowed a curse. Defenders didn’t curse, openly. That explained the copies, the armor, and the force field. It had been a long time since she longed to be surrounded by her team, but now the feeling threatened to swallow her. Sure, she kept in touch with them, still played virtual Dungeons and Dragons with Shonda, but as friends. The barely even talked about their magical girl soldier days, and actively avoided speaking about Maggie.
God-damned Maggie, who she would need to defeat this parasite properly.
Her hand brushed her hip, feeling for her phone. She could at least call Shonda or Chloe or Kelsey for backup. Unfortunately, it was still on the floor in her building’s hallway outside Michelle’s room.
“Well, of fucking course,” she muttered.

The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Sunday, February 26
Willow: “Hey! I was in the library during the quake, almost got buried under some 19th century literature. And I don’t have to tell you how hard it is to dig through some of that stuff. You okay?” Buffy: “Yeah. A couple of broken knick-knacks, but no biggies.” Willow: “Well, Porter dorm is completely blacked out. So naturally they are dealing with the crisis the only way they know how: ‘Aftershock Party’.” Buffy: “Ah, this from the dorm that brought us the ‘Somebody Sneezed’ party and the ‘Day That Ends in Y’ party.”

21, 27 & 34?
Thank you so much for the ask, Lire!!!
21. Top 5 worst characters (full disclosure, these aren’t necessarily the worst as in badly written or acted, but in the ‘I most want to dropkick them into the sun’ way)
1) Ed Peletier (TWD)
2) Jesse Manes (RNM)
3) Negan (TWD)
4) Duncan Kane (VM)
5) Aaron Echolls (VM)
27. Top 5 brotps (off the top of my head, so I’m sure I’m missing some important ones)
1) Alex and Kyle (RNM)
2) Sherlock and Joan (Elementary)
3) Veronica and Wallace (VM)
4) Andy and Nile (TOG)
5) Eleanor and Tahani (The Good Place)
34. Top 5 finales (I’m going with season finales and just off the top of my head, again, so I’m probably missing a lot of good ones)
1) Leave it to Beaver (Veronica Mars). Not Pictured made me happier, but this one was just the perfect end to a near perfect season.
2) Whenever You’re Ready (The Good Place) The perfect ending to what feels like the perfect show.
3) Felina (Breaking Bad) I think all of the Breaking Bad finales could be on here because that show really knew how to blow the viewers away. But this was a satisfying, necessary ending to the story they told.
4) Becoming (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Say what you will about the show (and I’ll support it and the trashing of Joss in general), but they gave us some truly beautiful and memorable finales, of which this was one.
5) Michael’s Gambit (The Good Place) I watched the first season out of love for Mike Schur and Kristen Bell. And it was enjoyable, but didn’t feel like anything really special. This episode changed everything we thought we knew and turned me from a casual viewer into a true fan.
