What shapes do you use for Dina, Maya and Gadrielle's eyes? (Been trying to figure out eye shapes for the longest but the various "famous" beauty sites has been failing me every time)
Also! If Dina and Maya were in a band, what genre would they play? What would their singing voices sound like? (Info-dump if you want. It doesn't bother me, I find it really helpful).
Thank you for the question! <3
Music band wise... Glad u asked bc i made a whole music au that absolutely no one needed 😅 I think they'd play alt rock pop, a mix of stuff like Marmozets, Sleep Token, Deftones, Placebo, etc... Also, Gad is the manager of this band for sure, she's probably a retired opera singer
Eyes wise...
Dunno how to put it in to words so I hope some drawing snippets can demonstrate better! Mostly focus on how the eyes sit with the eyebrows bc together they create the 'vibe' of the gazeee.
Longer rambles below click at ur own risk <3
Dina's eyes: the 'curve' of her eye rests on the upper eyelid, 'contrasted' by the straighter/horizontal linear eyebrow. Eyebrows positioned close to the eye -> deep eye sockets? It gives intense focus vibe
Maya's eyes: like Dina, but longer and pointier at the end, the curve of the eye rests in the bottom eyelid. It's giving mischievous and wicked I hope????
Gad's eyes: Much higher brows position. Much more curves to everything!

Welcome to Day 2 of my self-imposed challenge for October, where I listen to 31 albums I haven't gotten around to listening to yet in an attempt to clear through my overwhelming Spotify library and document my thoughts.
Day 2.
The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets by Marmozets!
So I found this album actually a few days ago on Google, my homepage has news stories, and an article brought up this album as being "the weirdest rock album of the decade" and I was simply intrigued by how they worded it. I quote "mixed mathcore, punk, indie, and alt-rock into a fresh new take that took the scene over by storm." and as someone who loves a bunch od those things- If not all, I pulled up my spotify IMMEDIATELY to add it. I didn't even bother reading the rest of the article quite frankly. I'm sure it's alright but this, seemed like everything I'd be interested in.
Upon the first track it immediately engaged me with the drums and riffs. Almost electrical in a sense that it ignites the energy and then pulls away to allocate for the vocalist to yell... WHICH... as I'd spoken before I'd just found this from an article so I did not have a whole lot of prior knowledge on the band. I did look a little through their catalog to see they've been inactive since 2017 and that they only have two albums out and an EP(?). I'll have to look into the other album at a different time more in depth, but the female vocalist was NOT expected but holy crap!!!! She literally comes into the track and absolutely owns it. If I could explain her voice, it reminds me a bit of Against The Current's vocalist X Bea Miller during her "Not An Apology" album X Cassidy Mackenzie's covers on YT. Like- it's got a similar sound definitely but unlike anything I'm familiar with.
I adore it! The realization that I have not found many bands with a female vocalist with this type of sound is insane. The only thing however is I do not entirely love the lyrics. Yes, everything SOUNDS great, but the lyrics. It's giving Disney Channel Pop-punk. Which isn't a bad thing at all, but genuinely the sound is great, but the first track fell short in the lyrics.
AND THEN the second track hits. And holy damn the fry in her vocals absolutely was not expecting. GOOD. I completely fucking loved that shit, and it's much more up my alley with everything it is.
Which is amazing because when I write a band au, this is the sound I'm envisioning. This sound. It's so fascinating. Grabbing your attention with the drums and riffs and then toned down to let her be known full force. Such a interesting sound and I think that this track genuinely was everything. "Captivate You" completely enamored me as well, I adored it. A lot of this album I can say I genuinely loved to experience. I don't know how I hadn't found these guys before now!! I would've eaten them up years ago I think. The lyrics sure aren't as mature as I'm familiar with but I think the vocals are genuinely such an eye opener and theres a handful of absolutely amazing track on here. Semi replayabilty, I think I could definitely listen to this a bunch and not feel bored and its a decent length. 46 minutes! Not bad at all.
Would I recommend this? Hm. Possibly? I'm not too sure, I don't think I'd recommend the entire album because it can feel a bit cheesy but I think it's sound is something I have NOT seen before in bands I'm accustomed to listening to. It sets them apart having that female vocalist for me, which I've prompted to educate myself on more bands with female vocalists because it seems that most pop-punk is male dominated, unfortunately. Which this is definitely something of a gem. I think its a good thing to take a chance on if you enjoy the genre and want to switch it up. There's good stuff here. It would be worth the time to give it a spin if you wanted to, but I don't think its a needed thing in full if you just want to see the good stuff. There's cohesiveness, but not all songs are differentiated to where it doesn't feel too different from one another. There's good to be had here, and I did enjoy my time and will be relistening to this record, but there's also better introductions and examples of pop-punk as a genre.

okay, i started writing in the tags, but i realised p quickly that i was gonna write something long and rambly, so i'm gonna shove this under a read more
it's v hard to pick a single favourite album cos i the number of albums i listen to is much larger than the number of games i play or films i watch, so i'm gonna name some noteworthy shouts
Kompromat - Traum Und Existenz
this is one that i discovered back around may, and has been in heavy rotation ever since. probs my favourite album over the past few months, and easily my favourite discovery this year
La Femme - Paris-Hawai
i got really into this one when it dropped last summer, and it's re-entered rotation in a major way this summer. it did a lot to solidify la femme among my favourite bands. really great album to just listen to front to back, a really solid piece. it's still early days yet, but i feel like in the long run this is likely gonna be one of my all-time favourites
HEALTH - Vol 4: Slaves of Fear
this has had a prominent place in rotation over the past year, warrants a shout
Feed Me - Feed Me's Big Adventure
feed me is easily one of my all-time favourites, and this is my favourite release of his. it's never really been out of rotation, but it's been very notably back in over the past year. definitely warrants a shout
other notable mentions from this year's rotation:
Les Vulves Assassines - Das Kapital
Art Blakey - Moanin
Ryo Fukui - Scenery
some other albums that aren't necessarily too prominent rn, but have been at points, enough to warrant long-term mentions (in no particular order):
Duchess Says - Anthologie Des Trois Perchoirs
Zardonic - Antihero
Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
Celldweller - End of an Empire
Digitalism - Idealism
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Lost Sounds - Lost Sounds
the bird and the bee - the bird and the bee
albums i considered including in the above list, ultimately cut, but nonetheless feel warrant some kind of mention:
Marmozets - The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets
Hadouken! - Music For An Accelerated Culture
The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die
Pendulum - Hold Your Colour
Korn - Follow The Leader
Jupiter - Juicy Lucy
Does It Offend You Yeah - You Have No Idea What You Are Getting Yourself Into
i tried to pick selectively and avoid naming too many albums here
it bothers me that you often don't really hear about people having a "favorite album" the way they might have a favorite movie or favorite video game

The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets
My toughts on the album
This is the first album released by Marmozets and also the first I've listened to by them.
I was instantly happily surprised by the variety of different flavors of heavy music this album has to offer even if it's mainly pop punk. It hits you with heavy hardcore and metal breakdowns then slaps you with a crazy post-hardcore guitar riff and when youre least expecting it has a big pop punk sounding chorus. This mixture of different influences help the band carve out their own sound that really stands out.
While all the members bring something special to the album, vocalist Rebecca Macintyre really shines. It's refreshing to hear a female vocalist that isn't afraid to provide really gritty vocals. Just some really scary false chord and fry screaming. I'm not saying there aren't others who have done it, but I still think it's sad how often harsh vocals are reserved for masculine manly man men.
The album is definitively very polished, and has that radio sheen that I can understand isn't for everyone. However I wouldn't call it overproduced. The worst in that regard is mostly some pretty obvious pitch correction, like in the intro to "Hit the Wave".
Lyrically it leaves a bit to be desired. The lyrics fill their purpose but are for the most part generic and in classic hardcore fashion repetition of short phrases is heavily relied on.
Overall the Weird and Wonderful Marmozets is an album that I would recommend you listen to. The amount of genre mixing going on here means that theres probably something here for most people. There's a bit of everthing from mathcore to garage rock. It was a bit too heavy on the pop punky sound for me, but heavier parts didn't dissappoint.
Favorite track: Vibetech (they had fun with this one, and it shows)
Least favorite track: Cry (didn't fit the vibe and was very cliché both lyrically and instrumentally)
