I waited a mind-blowing TWENTY-FOUR (24!!) years for Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess to be released in North America! I can't believe I had to wait twice as long as the amount of time elapsed in the plot between Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure and Rhapsody II!! I got the Marl Kingdom Chronicles box set, the full contents of which I'll show you another time. I'm loving the second game so far! I put some images and reactions under a cut to hide spoilers. Enjoy the cuteness! 🎺💖
+ Rhapsody II features Kururu and Crea, the daughters of Rhapsody I heroines Cornet and Etoile. Etoile is my favorite character from the original game and I'm finding her daughter especially hilarious already. I cannot believe Etoile named her daughter Createur!! It's not as if Cornet did much better though... Princess Kurusale Cherie Marl Q is quite a name 😂
+ One difference from the first game is that Rhapsody II has a more straightforward RPG battle system rather than a tactical RPG style. Also, summoning puppets to battle on your behalf now costs Inotium, the in-game currency.
+ Puppets from the first game appear in the second game, though sometimes they are at different ages than when Cornet first met them. Ledgem appears as a cute baby, for instance!
+ Unlike the first game, the songs in this second musical adventure appear with English translations but no English vocal tracks, as far as I've seen. The dialogue does feature some great English voice acting though. Crea and Kururu say surprisingly funny things in battle.
+ On the whole, Rhapsody II is living up to my hopes and I'm really excited to keep exploring!

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles Limited Edition
Should you get this limited edition?
Kinda yes, if you're a fan? But this release still uses some scummy practices.
More info under the cut!
General info
Version: Limited edition
As it is customary with NIS these days, they release their games digitally, the physical version gets bumped to a "deluxe edition" with bonuses that aren't worth the price, and the limited edition gets the actual bonuses.
Normal price: $49.99 Limited edition price: $89.99
That's roughly 80% more than the normal price of the game.
"Bare minimum"
Game: Included (Nintendo Switch or PS5),
Special box: Included,
Soundtrack: Included, most probably the full soundtrack for both games - store pages mention 2-disc original soundtrack for both of the included games,
Artbook: Included, although it is not known whether it is a quality artbook (containing not just art from the game, but also concept art, etc.) or just a collection of available-elsewhere prerenders.
Actual bonuses
"Royal Crescendo" Art Cards: for all it matters, 3 postcard-sized (hopefully) printouts
2 Acrylic Displays
"The Show Must Go On" Cloth Poster
Extra information
This is one of the two ways to obtain this release physically. The other one - "Deluxe Edition" - includes "Mini Art Book" and "Double-sided Mini Poster", none of which are available in this edition. It is a bit concerning that the only way to obtain the game physically is to get a version with, possibly, unneeded bonuses padding the price.
Moreover, this is a re-release for 20+ games, with just some quality changes.
All in all
Surprisingly enough, this isn't the most overpriced limited edition around. For $40, you get 2 full soundtracks for the included games - most probably the main selling point of this edition - and some other paperweights that NISA habitually adds to this type of releases. This is arguably worth the price.
However, you cannot obtain the soundtracks anywhere else, which means that the only easy way to obtain those is through this limited edition, which comes with other bonuses which pad out the price. What's more, the kinda acceptable price of the set comes from the fact that this is the typical price for NISA's limited editions. If the games were released separately, the limited editions for each of the games would probably sell at the same price point. This is not example of a fairly-priced limited edition, this is an accident caused by a set pricepoint.

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles!
So Rhapsody 2+3 are finally being officially localized! This is such an amazing announcement to me as I absolutely love Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.
I still remember how I got into Rhapsody. It all started when I heard there was a new funny SRPG about demons and netherworlds coming to PS2. This was Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. As soon as I saw this game, I knew it was for me even though I had not played many RPGs outside of Earthbound and Mario RPG.
I did not have a PS2, so I bought a used one specifically to play Disgaea. I ending up enjoying Disgaea so much I looked up previous games by NIS to see if any interested me. I found two games of interest: La Pucelle: Tactics and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.
I enjoyed both La Pucelle and Rhapsody. I ended up replaying Rhapsody many times and getting the songs stuck in my head. As the years went on, I did not play Rhapsody much and decided to sell it. I was getting older and was even feeling embarrassed to admit I loved Rhapsody and all the songs in it.
As I grew older I realized I was silly for feeling embarrassed about games I play. I wanted to replay Rhapsody. Sadly the game became rare so purchasing an original copy was too much for me.
Then many years later the announcement came about the rerelease of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. I was so thrilled to be able to replay this gem after so many years. As I replayed it, I remembered how much this game meant to me when I was younger.
Now I will be able to play the 2nd and 3rd game in the series and I am so thrilled to be able to do so!
