Sie müssen euch sagen: es weihnachtet sehr! Rechtzeitig zu st. Nikolaus habe ich dieses ältere Stück ein wenig aufgeputzt und rausgebracht. Der Krampus links mit den Schellen heißt Markus, die mittlere Perchte mit den Ketten Orsele und die ganz rechts mit der langen nase Chiara. Sie sollten sich auf den Nikolaustag vorbereiten, aber anscheinend ist eine Schneeballschlacht entfacht.

Gavin was living with the curio shop owner for a week now. It was the night before St. Nikolaus, the shoes and boots were cleaned, cookies (well, brownies, bc they didn't have sugar at hand) and milk were laid out.

Now all that was left to do was to close your eyes and tomorrow morning there'd be presents. And not just an apple and a small sweet, but actual christmas presents. For at this point in the town's history there were only two confessions in Fort Detroit: The Puritans, who didn't gift at all (and in some occasions didn't even acknowledge Christmas as a special day) and the Founders, who, being catholic, gifted at the 6th of December already.

The morning of St. Nikolaus was one of the rare occasions the house's inhabitants shared a meal together. Hervè had donned his cold weather outfit, ready to bring in the Yule log together with Gavin, decorate the house with evergreens and of course check for presents. All the while they'd have to evade snowballs tossed by a handful of puritan youths, who were claiming that in hindering the other settlers in their holiday preparations they were upholding their parents' virtues of asceticism and humility, but who were really only out to cause trouble.

Gavin: "What's the story here, Mr. Bouleau? You can't really believe that the Saint himself comes diving down from the heavens to deliver presents to good settlers?"

Hervè: "Not St. Nick, no, but the Founders really do that. Every year they prepare sweets and candied fruit, and then Leo, Markus and Martin deliver them."

And indeed, when the men stepped on Hervè's porch they found that the bootrack had gotten moved out of the way. In its place lay a leather satchel filled with bananas and grapes. Of the "offerings" there was nothing left but the empty glass and plate.

The actual gift was collected from the mailbox: a bag of fruit seeds. The bananas probably go right into Hervé's collection of curios.

Quando nascera de alguma forma parecia adivinhar a miserável existência que lhe esperava, a criança raquítica e fraca gritara ao topo de seus pequenos pulmões dia e noite sem parar por um ano inteiro. Quieta, era assim que a menina se tornara do dia para a noite, quase como se de alguma forma lhe fosse dado a entender que quanto mais chorasse mais motivos lhe seriam dados para chorar. Ao contrário do que seus pais sempre diziam e resmungavam, Cornelia não era uma criança difícil e sim eles eram terríveis pais, não que um dia ela perceberia isso, afinal quem notaria os maus tratos infringidos as 7 crianças da família Brown que viviam numa pequena fazenda caindo aos pedaços nas terras inférteis de Hondaragua. Afastados de tudo e de todos Cornelia ou melhor, Nellie nunca desconfiara que existia algo de errado em sua família quando seus progenitores os negligenciavam, a falta de comida, o trabalho árduo nas plantações de trigo, muita vez mais cansados e menos alimentados do que os animais que criavam, os sete irmãos dividiam as tarefas entre si, o castigo por não fazer-las era muito pior do que a constante fadiga e exaustão, e de alguma forma no fim do dia mesmo quando faziam todas suas tarefas um dos sete irmãos parecia ser quase que sorteado para mais uma punição. Nellie era sortuda em certas partes, terceira filha do casal, seus dois irmãos mais velhos Nikolau e Markus quase sempre conseguiam proteger-la e quando era inevitável eles estavam sempre ao seu lado enquanto recebia sua sentença. Nem tudo era absolutamente ruim, os irmãos tinham entre si um elo absolutamente puro, com tantas dificuldades em seu caminho eram bastante unidos com um senso de comunidade invejável.

Sonhadora, era assim que seus pais zombavam de Nellie, como se sonhar fosse a maior piada do século “meus sonhos são apenas estúpidos” faziam a menina repetir, e pouco a pouco fora o que Cornelia acabará por acreditar, ela não era ninguém, não tinha nada. Para economizar energia, Cornelia e seus irmãos não eram permitidos de usar nada elétrico sem permissão, por isso assistir televisão era basicamente fora de questão, mas claro que para Dhalia e Charles, seus irmãos caçulas e rebeldes nada era fora dos limites, os dois revezavam a noite para ficar quase que de guarita enquanto o outro assistia o que quer que estivesse passando na televisão. Embora quase sempre petrificada de medo de ser pega com os irmãos, Cornelia parecia não conseguir evitar de assistir mesmo que por alguns segundos a vida no castelo real, tudo parecia tão mais leve e distante de sua realidade que ela não conseguia evitar de sonhar acordada com aquela vida, e para falar a verdade aquilo fora algo que a aproximara bastante de Dhalia que era completamente obcecada pela realeza. Lembra-se como se fora ontem o dia que sua irmã não parava de cantarolar enquanto trabalhavam, até mesmo seus pais acharam anormal o quão feliz Dhalia parecia, e ao fim do longo dia de trabalho dos Browns a mais nova pedira ou melhor, implorara para que seus pais a deixassem se inscrever para a seleção do príncipe, mas como ela poderia ousar em ser tão positiva? Com isto seus pais descobriram o passatempo especial de Charles e Dhalia, mas temendo do que poderia acontecer com eles, Cornelia assumira a culpa, dizendo que os dois apenas sabiam de tudo aquilo por causa dela, com isso a morena lembra apenas de trabalhar por dois dias sem qualquer gota d’água até ouvir o barulho se seu corpo contra o chão, os gritos de seus irmãos tentando a ajudar e em partes o alívio de achar que finalmente tudo aquilo iria acabar. Felizmente ou infelizmente, Nellie apenas havia desmaiado de exaustão, mas aquilo impulsionou certa coragem em Dhalia, que embora não poderia se inscrever para a seleção, inscrevera quem mais amava e admirava Cornelia, sem que a mesma sequer desconfiasse.

Você pode imaginar a surpresa de Cornelia quando ouvira do celeiro seus pais gritarem seu nome, e o completo choque em seu rosto ao ver sua foto na televisão, sendo uma das escolhidas para a seleção, seu coração batia tão rápido que sua cabeça começara a girar, podia jurar que quase sentia um pingo de alegria mas com certeza estava confusa por pela primeira vez em sua vida sentir os braços de sua mãe ao seu redor, um abraço, embora ela soubesse que não era real ela se permitiu descansar ali poucos segundos, estava de fato surpresa que seus pais estavam tão receptivos com a ideia, fora ali que ela entendera o motivo pelo qual eles estavam tão felizes: eles teriam a oportunidade de mudarem de casta, de serem ricos as custas de Nellie. Ela queria se recusar ali a participar ou a expor as tramoias ou falta de caráter e abuso de seus pais, mas claro, eles eram mais espertos do que ela jamais poderia ser: se ela falasse pra qualquer pessoa da realidade que vivera eles iriam sumir com seus irmãos e claro, aquilo era algo que Cornelia não podia arriscar.

(lm) Der verlockende Duft von Glühwein, Bratwürsten, Waffeln und sogar gerösteten Maronen, angeboten vom Seckacher Förderkreis „Leben braucht Wasser“, lockte zahlreiche Besucher aller Altersklassen auf den mittlerweile 14. Mudauer Weihnachtsmarkt. Dieser fand auf dem Parkplatz unterhalb des Alten Rathauses statt und begeisterte mit seinem charmanten, kleinen, aber feinen Ambiente. Selbst der Bischof Nikolaus (Markus Hohn) zeigte sich erneut begeistert von der Odenwaldgemeinde. Bereits zum dritten Mal innerhalb einer Woche steuerte er seinen Schlitten zum Mudauer Weihnachtsmarkt – mit einem prall gefüllten Sack voller Süßigkeiten im Gepäck. Die musikalische Eröffnung des Marktes übernahmen der Grundschulchor Mudau und Schloßau sowie der Kindergartenchor „St. Marien“. Bürgermeister Dr. Norbert Rippberger und Ortsvorsteher Stefan Galm lobten die gesanglichen Leistungen der Kinder und begrüßten die große Besucherschar herzlich. Anschließend ermunterten sie die kleinen Sängerinnen und Sänger mit einem Augenzwinkern: „Stürzt euch auf den Nikolaus, er hat für jeden etwas dabei!“ Abonnieren Sie kostenlos unseren NOKZEIT-KANAL auf Whatsapp. Diese Einladung nahmen die Kinder nur allzu gerne an. Mit Liedern wie „Alle Jahre wieder“, „Wieder kommen wir zusammen“, der fröhlichen „Weihnachtsbäckerei“, dem klassischen „Oh du fröhliche“ und dem spaßigen „Der Weihnachtsmann hat Rückenschmerzen“ verbreiteten sie festliche Stimmung. Der donnernde Applaus der Erwachsenen zauberte ein Strahlen auf die Gesichter der jungen Künstler – die Süßigkeiten des Nikolaus waren jedoch das Highlight und ganz sicher verdient. Der Nikolaus zeigte sich dankbar für die tatkräftige Unterstützung von Luna Bianco und Ayleen Hofmann bei der Verteilung der Leckereien. Im Anschluss genossen die Besucher das zweitägige bunte Markttreiben. Neben den kulinarischen Angeboten wie Waffeln, Crêpes, Brat- und Currywurst, Kinderpunsch und Glühwein gab es eine Vielzahl an Geschenk- und Deko-Ideen. Darunter waren Holz-Schmuck von Revierleiter Michael Schwarz, Designschmuck aus Spechbach, Spielsachen der Pfadfindergruppe Süd „Wildenburg“ und die Aktion „Spenden statt Schenken“ des Förderkreises „Leben braucht Wasser“. Bei bestem Marktwetter bot der Weihnachtsmarkt ein adventliches Ambiente, das keine Wünsche offenließ. Am Sonntagnachmittag wurde die festliche Stimmung noch durch ein Platzkonzert des Musikvereins Harmonie 1872 Mudau bereichert, das den Weihnachtsmarkt zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis machte. BMW Complete Dress Rehearsal for 24h Nürburgring

The BMW teams completed the final endurance test ahead of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER) this weekend, the six-hour qualifying race. ROWE Racing, Schubert Motorsport, Walkenhorst Motorsport and the BMW Junior Team were in action with their BMW M6 GT3s, as were countless other BMW teams in the various classes. The dress rehearsal for the Eifel classic took place in glorious weather, and the teams used the weekend to make preparations in race conditions. The 49th running of the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife will be held on 5th/6th June, 2021.

The best-placed BMW car in the final classification of the 24h qualifying race was the #1 BMW M6 GT3 of ROWE Racing. The quartet of drivers Nick Catsburg (NED), Nick Yelloly (GBR) John Edwards (USA) and Philipp Eng (AUT) ended the race in P9, but then moved up into eighth place. Their ROWE Racing team-mates in the #98 BMW M6 GT3 had originally crossed the finish line in this position, but the car with Connor De Phillippi (USA), Martin Tomczyk (GER), Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) and Marco Wittmann (GER) at the wheel was disqualified for violating the minimum number of laps per driver regulation.

The #20 BMW M6 GT3 of Schubert Motorsport finished in P14. Jens Klingmann (GER), Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Stef Dusseldorp (NED) shared the cockpit of this car. Right behind them in P15 was the BMW Junior Team in the #77 BMW M6 GT3. Dan Harper (GBR), Neil Verhagen (USA) and Max Hesse (GER) are set to contest their first 24-hour race in the GT3 car. They will be supported by Augusto Farfus (BRA) in the cockpit. The #102 BMW M6 GT3 of Walkenhorst Motorsport with Sami-Matti Trogen (FIN), Jörg Müller (GER) and Jakub Giermaziak (POL) finished the race in P18, which also saw them make the top 20.

There were also several wins for the BMW teams in the individual classes. Walkenhorst Motorsport won the SP10 class with the #74 BMW M4 GT4. This car was driven by Lance Boicelli, David Thilenius and Charlie Postins (all USA). The other class winners in BMW cars included Adrenalin Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive (CUP 5 with the BMW M2 CS Racing and V2T with the BMW 330i GS20) and AVIA Sorg Rennsport (BMW M240i).

Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M GmbH, also competed in the six-hour qualifying race. He shared duties in the #241 BMW M2 CS Racing with Matthias Malmedie, Jörg Weidinger und Nikolaus Schelle (all GER). Adrenalin Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive was responsible for the car’s outing. The quartet finished in fourth place of the CUP 5 class.
