Cine: Pesadilla 2: La venganza de Freddy (1985)

Mudarse a esa casa de la calle Elm, que ha presenciado varios crímenes hacía cinco años, no ha sido una buena idea. Desde que se estableció allí junto a su familia, el pobre de Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton) padece funestos sueños protagonizados por un extraño y tenebroso ser de sombrero, rostro quemado, un guante con cuchillas en lugar de dedos y una actitud asesina.

Básicamente, su rutina consiste en ir a la escuela y ser víctima de bullying mientras intenta no dormirse por las malas noches que ese sujeto (que, desde luego, no es otro que el mismísimo Freddy Krueger, interpretado por Robert Englund, cuyo placer reside en matar en cuanto su víctimas caen en profundo sueño) le hace pasar.

La segunda entrega de la saga creada por Wes Craven ha quedado en medio de gran controversia entre críticos y fans merced a cierta debilidad en la historia y al contexto ambiguo, por no decir homoerótico, de su protagonista. Sí, tiene una suerte de amiga/novia en Lisa (Kim Webber), pero no puede llegar a nada serio, lo cual se le añade a su evidente torpeza en los deportes y a los gritos agudos que se le escapan cuando el monstruoso personaje se le aparece después de cerrar sus ojos. ¿Y qué decir de los avances de su entrenador (Marshall Bell) en la escena del bar gay o el modo en que el protagonista parece atraído a su mejor amigo Ron (Robert Rusler)?

Esta secuela ha sido dirigida por Jack Sholder, un especialista del cine de terror de clase B que ha visto cómo esta obra, antes cuestionada, ha pasado a gozar de cierto nivel de culto, consideración a la cual no muchas películas pueden acceder.
