Last year, I found a stack of index cards, pulled out a bin of markers, and began drawing faces. The first few were very simple, you might even say cartoonish. I drew more each day, and as I did, they got more and more complex and specific until I was tapping into icons and familiars and a Wikipedia list of progressive democrats in Congress. At one point I began to assemble the series into one big poster image. Last night, I finally picked up that dropped thread and completed the design. See if you can find @CoryBooker, Mona Lisa, @JohnLewis, @AOC, Christine Blasey Ford, Albert Einstein, and others. I can’t do this one as a giveaway, but I can make a 13 x 17” print for you for $100, shipping included if you’re in the continental US — either as a framed poster print, or a signed, unframed, fine art giclée. And I’m taking requests. Looking at these images again has made me itchy to draw more. Ooh— wouldn’t this be cool as a gift for a loved one, where all the faces are friends and family? . . . #faces #drawingfaces #markerdrawing #markerdrawings #famousfaces #dailydrawing #dailyfaces #artdaily #humans #indexcardart #corybooker #indexcarddrawing #markerfaces #sharpieart #sharpiedrawing #AOC #johnlewis #monalisa #staceyabrams #progressives @progressivedemocratsofamerica #pdamerica #congressionalprogressivecaucus #environmentaljusticenow #greennewdeal #sketches #drawing #drawingdaily #colorfulart #posterdesign #einstein https://www.instagram.com/p/CHeIRsGHDCe/?igshid=1w3zll1o7mrer

I realize I forgot to make a gish post from the mini hunt! Below a cut in case nobody wants to see any gishing. :’D
We were giddy in the group chat late on the last night and decided to take pics of our legs for our family portrait pic... Item 85: Awkward fantasmily photo day! Let’s see the family portrait from your fantasy realm. (You may use digitally alter/photoshop to include family members.)
This is obvs just my contribution to it, but I freaked myself out every time I’ve looked down at the fading markerface on my knee since then :’D

Another item I was goaded into attempting with like an hour left in the hunt: Jensen Spackles. Item 45: Jensen Spackles. Create a bas-relief portrait of Jensen Ackles, out made of spackle, caulk, or toothpaste.
(I’ve never done a bas relief in my life, so this was an interesting learning experience... also he now lives on my mantle next to his abomination twin, Jensen Apples the dried apple head. Their eyes follow you wherever you go in the living room.)

Item 10: The Sword in the Scone. That's not a typo.
I submitted a video of me pulling the sword out to dramatic music, but this still is Pretty™. Also, the scone is blueberry. Nom :’D

Item 4, after the zoom panel on Gastroegyptology with Seamus Blackley: The Plague Period has felt like a never-ending story and it’s time to break the spell — by breaking bread. Bake a loaf of bread in the shape of an Auryn (a twist on the ouroboros, an Egyptian snake-symbol perpetually in a cycle of self-regeneration). Submit an image of your bread with a recipe beside it written by the elders. To complete the spell and help us all rise together, you must eat the bread after you submit your picture.
Trust me, eating the bread was the best part of the entire hunt. Not visible in this image: the fact it’s stuffed with mozzarella, rosemary, and garlic.

Item 21: Excalibrrrr! Forge a mighty mythical sword out of snow or ice.
the only snow we had left here was the massive snirt piles in big parking lots. In the interest of “well this is better than nothing I guess...” I carved an Excalibur into the snirt, but it was gross and snirty even half a foot deep into the pile... not to mention pretty solidly ice (and still taller than me... so much snirt). So I dropped my angel blade in the carving for size scale... this isn’t the lil hair stick one from the scone, this is full-size angel blade)

Item 42: Create an intimidating D&D Green Slaad monster (I said what I said) made ONLY from fresh fruits and vegetables. (Then, you must defeat the Slaad by eating it. This is a zero-waste Hunt!)
I stir fried the Slaad and his mushroom companions for dinner tonight with a bit of onion. He was delicious. RIP Slaad.

Item 40: Show someone doing a job that didn’t exist prior to 1900, but translated into what it would be back in the 1500s. - Monica D.
Renaissance Starbucks Barista. I’m disappointed I can’t read the sign better, but when you’re invading starbucks at closing time you take what you get :’D

Item 63: SIDE-BY-SIDE. Sometimes it's easy to forget the magic of little things. Remind yourself: using trick photography or whatever magic you know, make yourself very, very tiny and contemplate the big, beautiful world around you. Other times, it’s important to remember how big and powerful you are. Make yourself into a giant. Submit both pictures, side-by-side. - Inspired by Mieke
Biggest benefit of having an itty bitty angel blade and a gigantic one as well :’D
I did a few other things, some video items, but these were my favorites this go-around. :D
