Are Copic markers better than Prismacolor?

Is there a distinction between copic markers created by worried individual's or organizations just for the fun of it and symbolism adapted for pages or articles?  What is copic?  Copic is an early name for Conquer. 

Old French

Golden Globe Race abandons UK for France over Brexit finances

The Golden Globe Race 2018 will now start from Les Sables d’Olonne in Brittany, after event organisers failed to secure financial backing for a UK start

Australian adventurer Don McIntyre has announced a re-run of the Golden Globe Race to mark its 50th anniversary

Organisers of the 2018 Golden Globe Race announced yesterday (4 Oct) that the event will now start from Les Sables d’Olonne. The race will see up to 30 skippers will sail single-handed around the world without the aid of modern technology. The event was intended to be a recreated of the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, in which Robin Knox-Johnston become the first person to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation.

The move follows two previous announcements of the start city. Initially Falmouth and then Plymouth were due to host the event, but the cost of supporting the event became prohibitive amidst government budget cuts. Sponsors were also reluctant to spend money in the UK while uncertainty around Brexit continues. Spokesman Barry Pickthall explained:

‘We had major sponsors lined up, but no one knows what is happening with Brexit  and because of that uncertainty no one wants to spend money. We are by no means the only sporting event affected by this. We feel that we exhausted every avenue before making this decision.

‘In contrast, Les Sables d’Olonne were ready and willing to offer significant amounts of support for the start and the build up and had sponsors lined up to help pay for the event.’

The event, which is estimated to cost around £4million to run, if all additional support is given, will include daily press releases from race organisers, online tracking of competitors, TV coverage of the start and at the main gates on the race course, as well as a six or eight part documentary of the event.

At a press conference held in Les Sables d’Olonne today, Yannick Moreau, President of the Sables d’Olonne Agglomeration said:

The Golden Globe Race 2018 could not have chosen a better port in Europe to organize the start and finish of such a legendary race which has attracted so many sailors and adventurers from all over the world. The Sables d’Olonne agglomeration, the city and the Vendée partners will be happy to offer the Vendée Globe channel and public support to these adventurers who will take off from Les Sables on July 1, 2018, 50 years after Knox –Johnston, Bernard Moitessier and their companions on the “long route”. The Golden Globe Race will also be an opportunity for Les Sables d’Olonne to reinforce its popularity with lovers of the sea all around the world. This is a maritime adventure with a capital “A”. Welcome to Les Sables d’Olonne!’

Plans for the Suhaili Falmouth Parade of Sail will still go ahead as a ‘concession’ to the UK. Prior to this, the entire GGR fleet of traditional long-keeled yachts and their skippers will participate in a special Suhaili Parade of Sail in Falmouth, Cornwall on Thursday 14 June to mark the day that Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, set out to win the original Golden Globe Race 50 years before.

One of nine entrants, Sir Robin was the solo finisher. Frenchman Bernard Moitessier sailing Joshua, rounded Cape Horn 17 days behind Knox-Johnston, and having the bigger yacht, might have overtaken his English rival. But instead of heading back up the Atlantic in hot pursuit, Moitessier turned east to make a second circumnavigation of the Southern Ocean to ‘Save my soul’ as he put it.

This Parade of Sail, organised by the Falmouth Town Team and Royal Cornwall Yacht Club (where Sir Robin stepped ashore upon his return), promises to be quite a spectacle. Sir Robin, sailing aboard his famous yacht Suhaili, will lead Bernhard Moitessier’s yacht Joshua, Sir Francis Chichester’s Gipsy Moth IV and Sir Alec Rose’s Lively Lady in a Parade of Sail around Falmouth Harbour saluted by the Golden Globe Race skippers and many other vessels on the day

Don McIntyre, the Race Chairman, said: ‘We thank Plymouth City Council and the Royal Western Yacht Club for all their support, but with less than a year to the start, it became clear that the uncertainties surrounding BREXIT (Britain’s exit from the European Union) has greatly restricted financial opportunities. We are very pleased to be partnering with Les Sables d’Olonne to host the start and finish of the Golden Globe Race and look forward to a great event.

‘It was the original Golden Globe Race of course that seeded the modern Vendee Globe solo non-stop round the world race that starts and finishes in Les Sables d’Olonne, and fitting midway between the four-yearly cycle of the Vendee Globe, the 2018 Golden Globe Race creates real synergy for both events. One is super high tech and commercial while the other is all about human endeavour and Corinthian spirit. Les Sables d’Olonne grasped the GGR opportunity with great enthusiasm and has worked closely with the Organisers to develop a comprehensive support and logistics package. This includes a comprehensive Race Village, Media Centre, Marina Management and co-ordination across the entire region.

‘The Race will be run as before, under the auspices of the Royal Nukuma Yacht Club, and the Race Office will be based in Les Sables d’Olonne for the duration of the event. The official language will be English with French translations. Les Sables d’Olonne will support all finishing yachts and organise the Official finish celebrations. The Race Director will speak French and English with all media dual language.

‘With Les Sables d’Olonne now a lead supporter of the GGR, an Official Presenting Sponsor is being sought along with three Official Partners. Volunteers at the start and within the event organization, make up an important element of the event at a community level. A register of interested volunteers has been started. The French have real passion for events like the GGR and entrants are sure to become heroes to many. The harbour facilities are first class and this new Partnership with Les Sables d’Olonne is a strong endorsement for the Race.’

The race, which planned to prohibit all modern equipment on competitors’ boats, has modified its plans. Each boat will now include a satellite tracking device, from which the skipper will not be able to access a GPS position, so that they must navigation by sextant. They will also be equipped with a satellite phone on which the GPS is disabled, so that they can provide daily updates and interviews with race control. For safety, they will also carry a sealed box containing a GPS unit and another satellite phone, but if they open this box they will be deemed to have retired from the race. In keeping with the retro principles of the event, any music they take must be on tape cassette, and filming of their exploits must be on Super 8 film.

This British Artist Set The Australian Desert Ablaze In The Most Stunning Way

There’s a hand-picked group of words that we associate with deserts. Energy and brightness are not often among them.

But British artist Bruce Munro would beg to differ, because where reference is first laid gazes on Australia’s Red Desert back in 1992, he was overwhelmed by the region’s untapped vitality and glare. He was so stricken by the sensation that he took to his sketchbook and devoted the vistum to memory.

After compiling sketches and sketches, Munro developed his “Field of Light” installation, which stirred its introduction on the artist’s belonging in Wiltshire, England. Because of the original version’s success, Munro showed it in various locations across America and the United kingdom government. After over a decade, “Field of Light” was eventually introduced to its muse.

Munro and his unit, including photographer Mark Pickthall, realise their route to the Red Desert to light up the region that invigorated it all.

The grand finale — a bright display of lights that sat in impressing distinguish against the pitch-black sky — was a consummation of Munro’s work, and of a vision that followed its builder halfway around the world.

(via Allah made provision of good things)  Quran Chapter 17 – 70 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1829) درس قرآنAllah made provision of good things Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. (I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim. (In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِوَفَضَّلْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا 7070.  And verily We have honoured the Children of Adam, We carried them on the land and the sea, and have made provision of good things for them, and have preferred them above many of those whom We created with a marked preferment. 70.  Wa  laqad  karramNaa  Baniii  ‘Aadama  wa  hamalNaa-hum  fil-barri  wal-bahri  wa  razaqNaa-hum-minat-tayyibaati  wa  fazzalNaa-hum  ‘alaa  kasiirim-mimman  khalaqNaa  tafziilaa. (Section 7)CommentaryThe mankind should know his grade and should not commit any such work; by which he is dishonored. Allah Almighty described the story of the birth of Adam (peace be upon him) in Holy Qur’an again and again, and from it, He drew attention of human being unto the matter; summary of which has been placed in this verse.It is commanded: We honored the mankind by giving him sense and guidance. As many arrangements have been managed for his guidance; so much has not been arranged for any other creature. We have set management at large scale to fulfill his worldly requirements. On the entire face of the earth, he can move by means of carriages and ships, and which lawful things We have produced in the world for him, he can get in accordance with personal requirement.We have saved him from perplexity for the purpose that he should not waste his entire precious time due to being involved in fulfillment of his requirements. With this intention, We have provided such means, by which he can acquire very higher grade than other many creatures.The mankind should esteem the Bounties of Allah Almighty and try to get his rank promoted more and more by acting upon His Commands, and should not produce himself; without any cause; complications for acquiring provision. If he escaped from greediness and lust, then with less labor; every individual can be provided easily according to requirement. (via End of unruly people)   Quran Chapter 11-82 & 83 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1404) – درس قرآن End of unruly people Surah Huud (Hud) – 11 BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful فَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ مَّنضُودٍ (82 مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ وَمَا هِىَ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٍ (83 82.  So when Our commandment came to pass We overthrew (that township) and rained upon it stones of clay, one after another- 83.  Marked with fire in the providence of thy Lord (for the destruction of the wicked). And that is not far off from the wrongdoers. 82.  Fa-lammaa  jaaa-‘a  ‘amru-Naa  ja-‘alNaa  ‘aali-yahaa  saafi-lahaa  wa  ‘amtar-Naa  ‘alay-haa  hijaa-ratum-min  sijjii-lim-manzuud. 83.  Mu-sawwa-matan  ‘inda  Rabbik.  Wa  maa  hiya  minaz-zaalimiina  bi-ba-‘iid. (Section 8) (Part One-Half) Commentary Manzuudin – (one after another), it is an Object/passive, which has come out from na-za-da. Na-za-da means “to lay down by keeping upon one another or to connect with one another by keeping side by side. Manzuud means “layers of clay laid on one another and hardened”. Mu-sawwa-matan – (marked with fire), it is also an Object, origin of which is “tas-wiim” and which has been derived from sa-wa-ma. Sawama means “a sign and mark”. Taswiim means “to mark and to make a sign”. At last; time of punishment for the folk of Lot (peace be upon him) came to pass. The Angels (peace be upon them) picked up their all townships and then threw on the same place with the face down. After that they rained upon them stones which were made of pebbles; on which layers of clay had been hardened. Allah Almighty had made signs on them separately. These unruly people of Arab should think about the end of that folk and consider it a warning for themselves. Those townships were not away from them and now; at the place of those townships, there is Dead Sea, which comes in the way between Madinah and Syria. From this verse, the Scholars of Muslim laws have taken that whosoever will commit a sin like them, his punishment is that “Let a wall fall on him or kill him by stoning”.
