Dearies of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS fandom that make me cringe more than any mary sure oc in the whole world, just because Yusaku called the ambulance, had duels, and talked with the oh-so-called-girl-power-maiden-blue girl-whatever-she-is-pokemon XD (yeah. Because her “evolutions” are ridiculous)...

IT DOESN’T MEAN HE LOVES HER, FOR GOD’S SAKE! WILL YOU STOP WITH THAT RIDICULOUS SHIT AND THINK WITH YOUR BRAINS FOR ONCE?!- Oh wait. You never think straight on that and just go for this absurd shit, that’s true. In my opinion, she’s the worst developed and the most annoying character of all times that knows how to give the cringe, just like Kotori or Yuzu. (God, I had faith in Kotori, but when I saw how she is in the japanese version, I changed my mind. And the only yugioh girl that’s well made? Aki or Akiza, whatever she’s called. Best ygo girl.). And for the fact there’s no vrains in your head... (Ba-dum tss!). And PLEASE. Of all things I beg you. Stop with the Yusaku x Ryoken shipping. You guys are sick in the head! :/ They. Are. Just. RIVALS. And. Somehow. FRIENDS! FRIEEEENDS! NOT COUPLE, FRIENDS! Just that! A sane rivalry, with a nice friendship! It’s just that sane friendship/rivalry between two guys, not freakin’ yaoi. Go watch Yuri on Ice or Junjou Romantica if you want real yaoi, but don’t turn this awesome 6th Yu-Gi-Oh spin-off into that!

Having a perfect winning streak doesn’t make him the best nor “King of games”. Hell its hurting his character more than anything. He’s the most stagnant character in Vrains right now, the only change he’s had is being less revenge focused.

Guess what if character, how they react to losing. It’s literally the arcs Aoi and Go’a characters are going through. How are you supposed to grow if your constantly right and you constantly win. The perfect boy can never lose is the main problem people bring up with Yusei, so how is it a good thing for Yusaku?

It’s literally why people make fun of Kirito from SAO all the time and call him “Jesus-kun”. Boarding on “Mary-Sue” isn’t a good thing.

Plus to say his losses durning the Loss Incident don’t count is stupid. How bad he was literally stated to be relevant to not only his character but Ai’s (and slightly Ryoken’s) as well I bet it’s going to continue being brought up. To bring up aside from like two times in the first 5 episodes Yusei’s flashback loss was was never brought up again, probably cause it was shoe-horned in for the sake of his a Jack’s relationship and to up the stakes of their inevitable duel.

And saying Yusaku’s flashback loss doesn’t count because we don’t see the duel is also dumb because we don’t see Yusei’s either but somehow that counts?

Or because he was a child going against a computer it doesn’t count? That sounds like a shitty excuse.

I would take

-They don’t count because it was just an excuse to up the how torturous it is.

-They don’t count because the it was seen the other children did just about as well as he did.

-They don’t count because Dr. Kogami designed them to be near impossible from the get go.

-They don’t count because in Yusei’s flashback loss we legitimately saw Jack take him down and tell Yusei why he lost. With Yusaku all we saw the the screen say “you lose” and nothing else.

Or at least acknowledge that having a perfect winning streak isn’t exactly a good thing. Like it’s cool he has better win:Loss record compared to other protagonists so that arguably makes Yusaku the best duelist of them.

But in all honesty watching a character struggle with accepting they loss and improving from it, with both deck and character building is one the best parts. Jaden losing to Aster, Chazz losing to Jaden, Jack losing to Yusei, Shark losing to Yuma, Aoi losing to Specture, and Go losing to Playmaker. The episodes they had to themselves about how they took their loss and how they decided to improve themselves wether good or bad is great to see. You don’t get that when they always win.

despite me loving arc-v with all my heart, objectively, arc-v is NOT the best ygo series.

OKAY this was written at first as a reply to someone who said that a lot of yugioh fans are blinded by nostalgia and that arc-v was the best yugioh series and although i LOVE arc-v i really really disagree with that opinion so i replied with my two cents in a brief youtube comment about why i thought arc v had a lot of bad writing but honestly like 5 seconds later i decided that i would never be able to get my point across that way so here’s my expanded mini-essay on why arc-v sucks

huge arc-v spoilers and tiny 5ds spoilers under the cut

honestly arc v's pacing was really bad and the synchro arc went on for too long, causing everything afterwards to be rushed. most of the characters were turned into plot devices instead of people (see: bracelet girls. serena and yuzu had tons of potential but in the end serena’s whole personality was erased and all yuzu did was yell “yuya” like her life centered around him or something - like she wasn’t affected by the ordeal personally at all. the other two had like. only a little personality and were overall kind of boring and it sucked too because i had high hopes for rin and ruri)

yuya actually sorta became a mary-sue near the end of the show (the world warps around him, everyone cares about him even when most have no reason) (see: shun kurosaki, in the end he literally said yuya’s name and talked about yuya more than his own damn sister, who was his entire mission, he just kept talking about how great yuya was despite having no emotional connection, and i get that its supposed to show how much of an impact dueling in peace can have on people, but it just didnt Work) 

in arc-v everyone was super one-dimensional?? we never really saw different sides to their characters (well, minus yuya, the only one whose character was like. properly properly developed). everyone else either had a super-rushed, underdeveloped character or was a plot device (see: edo phoenix, a character canonically shown to be stubborn, magically changed by the Great Yuya in one duel. i know his heart was “swaying” and all that but even afterwards you would still have doubt in your newly joined side, especially when you’ve been so stubborn and so brainwashed by authority for so long). everyone else is a plot device pretty much

 nobody was... “bad”. nobody paid for any crimes unjustly commited. (see again, edo phoenix, one of my favorite characters in the entire series but he was literally a military commander who ordered soldiers to card tons of innocent people). i think this is another branch of that “peaceful dueling” thing, and how dueling should induce peace and smiles and violence is bad, etc. etc., but this isnt very effective when people who have literally committed war crimes go unpunished because “oohh peace there shouldn’t be violence”. 

and they tried to be deep??? they tried?? with their whole “don’t be afraid, don’t cry, just smile and move on!” or like. saying that everything can be solved with peace and happiness and smiles like. nice thought but. hmm idk. and just holding back your tears and smiling and ignoring it and moving on is kinda... bad for you like it’s gonna come back to bite you in the butt later

like!! there were good things!!! i love the show because it had a goldmine of potential. 4 dimensions? 4 yuyas? yuya dealing with losing yuzu? the synchro dimension showed great character for yuya and yuzu honestly, and sora’s whole arc about switching sides was awesome and like. well paced. reira/layra’s whole character was so intriguing to me, and his relationship with reiji and the whole thing was just. awesome. and like, yuto and the xyz kids having to deal with their home being ravaged... i dunno the whole show was just. ugh. so much potential and that was what dragged me in but they WAY dragged out the synchro arc thinking they had time for the rest and that was their mistake. 

 in my opinion 5ds is probably the best one, as it actually has a consistent plotline/character development, strong female characters (they're doing good with aki so far, but i haven't finished the series so im not sure yet), and they're not scared to deal with real-world issues, like classism, poverty, etc, the main characters are all literally criminals, but they're still portrayed as people, and thats what's important. and 5ds actually has some pretty insane moments and quotes!! like. despite being a “dark” show it’s hilarious with their humor and although characters are portrayed as hurting or sad you get to also see their funny side, or their happy side! the characters actually have substance and there are some pretty good quotes and moments from it too. like

these are all genuinely hilarious/heartfelt moments that show the different sides of the characters!!

basically arc-v was so filled with potential but it is FAR from the best series. if you ask for my ranking, from best series to worst series it goes like this (keep in mind zexal will not be included because i haven’t watched it):

- yugioh s0 (toei version) (one day i’ll write an essay on this its SO good)

- yugioh dm, yugioh gx, yugioh 5ds (they’re all on the same level because they’re the Original 3 and it’d be doing them injustice if i tried to rank them)

- yugioh arc-v (:D)

- yugioh vrains (this series is actually good and i reccommend watching it it’s only ranked lowest here because it’s not finished yet)

1. What’s the worst role playing experience you’ve had?

I was in the Rockman.EXE/Megaman NT Warrior fandom a while back and I played the character Injuin Enzan/Chaud Blaze. The was a blog for a genderbent Blues/Protoman. They were great at first and were fun to rp with but there came a point where I hadn’t replied to stuff for a while and they ended up in my inbox screaming at me, demanding that I stop ignoring them because they knew I was online. I immediately blocked them and haven’t talked to them since.

2. What would cause you to leave a fandom?

Toxicity is the main reason. If there are very toxic people or the fandom as a whole is toxic, I can’t handle it and will likely leave if it gets too out of hand.

3. Why did you leave your last fandom?

The last fandom I left because it was toxic and the type to take personal/private issues with other roleplayers and drag it out into the open so the entire fandom could bash on whichever rper was being dragged. I got involved because I wanted to try and de-escalate things, but it didn’t go well. I haven’t been on much on that blog since.

4. What are some things you are tired of seeing in the RPing community?

Again toxicity. I’ve been lucky so far that this fandom hasn’t been toxic to each other. But others like the last one I was in, can be awful about it. I’m happy that there hasn’t been the discourse there has been in other fandoms.

5. Have you ever had to block someone or cut off contact with them?

See question 1.

6. Your view on Mary/Gary sues?

I think it depends from blog to blog. However, I’m not the type to hate on people’s muses that are deemed Mary/Gary Sues. I’m the kind of person who if the person asks how they can improve their muse I will give my input on how to balance things out, but I don’t expect them to make those changes as they are only suggestions.

7. Things that you will not tolerate?

Hate is the biggest thing. I will defend others to the very end if they’re being bullied or getting anon hate or any hate in general. The other thing I will only slightly tolerate is godmodding to a degree. If you’re new to rp or if you’re not sure how to do certain things, there will be some godmodding going on. If it happens I will usually tell my partner about it, unless it’s something unavoidable like my muse it unconscious and you have to move them somewhere they’ll be safe. If I warn my partner and they don’t listen then I may drop a thread without warning.

8. Has anyone hurt/betrayed you?

Not that I can think of off the top of my head. I’ve never actually been one to receive hate so I can’t say.

9. Your view on minors interacting with muns that are older than 18?

As an 18+ mun myself, it really depends on the situation. If there is nothing sexually intimate going on between the muses then that’s fine. However if you are an underage mun and you don’t tell the other mun and do NSFW then that is a betrayal of trust and could get the other mun into serious trouble because if the age of consent is younger in one place doesn’t mean it’s the same elsewhere. As long as there is no sexual acts between the two muses where one mun is a minor and the other isn’t, then it’s alright by me.

10. Your opinion with ships between muses that include a minor and a legal adult?

Okay that depends on the case. If the muses are say 16-17 and 18-20 then I’m mostly okay with this. However if one muse is say 14-16 or under and the other muse is 21+ then there is no way I would be okay with that. Again it also depends on the ship. If the ship is romantic then hell no, but if it’s platonic or familial then that’s okay.

11. Have you ever received anon hate?

Nope.

12. Your opinion on people giving canon characters mental illnesses?

This is another case by case basis. If you can rationally explain why they have the said illness then it’s okay by me. For example, before we found out that Yusaku had PTSD, a lot of his behaviors were very similar to Autism. So using canon behavior to justify a mental illness is fine.

If the mun of that muse has a mental illness and projects it onto their character, that’s fine too. However one thing that sort of bothers me is when a mun gives the canon character a mental illness without either having that illness or using canon signs and behaviors to justify it. The ones who try to romaticize mental illness this way are the ones who bother me.

13. Your opinion on straight shipping?

You mean like shipping a guy and a girl? I’m completely fine with it. It only bothers me when anti-straight shipper say that “this guy” should just die so that “this girl” can be with “that girl” because “this guy” is ruining their ship even when that straight ship is canon.

14. Your opinion on muns making canon characters Trans/ gender fluid etc.?

Until I figured out for myself that I was transgender (female to male), this whole topic made me uncomfortable and I understand that people want diversity and representation. However the issue was taking a canonically cis character (where it was stated they were their canon gender since birth) and forcing them into being trans and seeing evidence in the show where there is none. However I’ve only had one exception to this happen that I feel like a hypocrite for. In another fandom it was widely accepted by almost the entire fandom that this one character was a Female to Male transgender and was actually one of my favorite characters. There was also very little known about the character so it didn’t bother me all that much either so eventually I made my muse (of that character) go from cis to trans. This also gave me the courage to actually come out to my family tbh.

15. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Hate and godmodding as I explained above.

16. How much does it take for you to get angry/upset? How long does it usually last?

I like to think that I’m a pretty chill guy so it takes a lot to bother me when it comes to rp stuff. I’m usually very patient too. If I do get upset it takes about a day or two and a lot of ranting at my sister about it.

18. Have you ever felt like something off about someone?

Hm. I guess it depends on the person? Also I guess it depends on what you mean by off? I mean sometimes I can tell by writing if our styles will mesh well or if something’s off about it. Or sometimes I can tell if someone is upset by the way they type messages to me so it could be that way too.

19. What’s the worst thing that has happened to you in the rping community (Within an ooc situation)?

The major discourse that happened in the last fandom I was in. That’s probably the worst of it.

20. Wild card: The mun discusses any situation/problem they want.

My problem is, I’m not on here enough and if I don’t do Yugioh related stuff, a lot of things pertaining more to Playmaker/Yusaku, then I lose touch with my muse and will have a hard time doing stuff. I am sort of binge watching a few episode of VRAINS at a time to get icons for Yusaku and Playmaker so focusing on those help too.

Windy taking over Flame as if he was a fungus was really low for Windy and even Bohman states he had nothing to do with Windy doing that to Flame.

Flame perishes and Bohman now has both Windy and Flame's AI linked to his body along with Aqua and Earth.

Also it looks like Varis has a plan to counter Judgement Arrows in his deck.

Oh wow, Spectre actually had a tear drop when SoL technologies took Earth apart.

The Gore wanting a victory against Playmaker though and even deciding to go through a brain surgery to achieve victory. He'll really go through these extents.

Oh man... the Aiballshipping from Yusaku remembering AI helped him out in his duel against Revolver with the Tower of Hanoi... like I kinda warmed up to it.

Also Earth reveals he knows nothing about Bohman. Initiating a duel while he decides whether to side with the humans or Ignis.

It's funny how Earth learns Yusaku is doing all the dueling while "Ai is being Ai". (As Playmaker tells Ai, "Is that something to be proud of?" 😂)

How did Yusaku manage to get his hands on "Cyberse" monsters? Like Roken stated that the Ignis made the Cyberse World AND the cyberse monsters.

Like if that's true and Linkslayer is one of the first monsters we see Yusaku facing against a Knight of Hanoi like WTF, how did Yusaku get his hands on Cyberse monsters like Cyberse Wizard (not including his link monsters because most of them are acquired through his speed duel skill).

You'd think if Roken heard that some 'punk' was defeating some of the members of the Knights of Hanoi with Cyberse monsters that it would grab his attention prior to the show's opening. Like wouldn't Roken already know that Yusaku is after them after defeating some Knights of Hanoi?

Roken vs. Playmaker round 2 in a master duel. I didn't think I'd agree with Roken on stopping AI in the beginning but with all the AI Art and Writing going on I find myself agreeing a world without AI is better.
