'Mario is Missing!'
[SNES] [UK] [MAGAZINE] [1994]
"lt has to be said, if I you are a bright alert young chap/chapette then there is a possibility that this game might not be for you. Unless of course you have a younger sibling. Mario Is Missing is a fun game to play. I enjoyed it immensely but then I didn’t shell out £45 for it. The point I am skirting here is that you shouldn’t buy this as a fun filled action packed Mario adventure. It isn’t. What is it then? It’s fun, it’s entertaining and it’s educational. That last word doesn’t tempt you does it? If you are a parent and you want to introduce your children to the joys of playing a Mario game they can handle, buy this game. If you have a younger brother or sister who is fascinated by your machine but just can’t handle it yet buy this game. Also, if you want to extend the range of your games cupboard and at the same time impress you parent(s) about how concerned you are about your general knowledge buy this game. It is fun, taxing and has opened up a whole new genre for Super Nintendo games. Always a headache for reviewers." ~Simon Kirrane, Super Action

Mario Is Missing Is Not Canon
So Mario Is Missing is not canon to the games for a few reasons.
The main reason is Mario Is Missing contradicts the current canon of the Mario games. So in the manual for Mario Is Missing it says the following. "Will the brave brothers from Brookyln permit this abominable snow plan?" This is the Mario is an Italian American Immigrant from Brookyln origin that was never stated in any confirmed canon game or manual. This is not canon to the games continuity and is only canon to the Movieverse and Supershowverse. In the games Mario is a native son of the Mushroom Kingdom and immigrated to Big City as some point.
Also, this game alongside other games like Hotel Mario is probably on the same level of canonicity as the Supershow. This is because Nintendo basically licensed the characters to Toolworks, while Nintendo's staff and even Miyamoto did not have any hand in it. Note that even games like Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars at least had input from Nintendo's staff like Shigeru Miyamoto. With Miyamoto saying it didn't make sense for Mario to be riding a horse and wielding a sword, but rather to be riding Yoshi and wielding a hammer. This would probably put Mario Is Missing on the same level as the Supershow canonicity wise, and the claim it's always the same Mario wouldn't apply to this game.

Okay, it’s time to a Mario headcanon from my AU.
We all know that the game Mario is missing is shit and that Nintendo hides this game and makes us think that Luigi's mansion was the first game in which Luigi was the protagonist.
But also in my AU, the game Luigi's mansion was actually the first game where Luigi was the protagonist, (I think everyone who has their Mario AUs also has this), but what if there was a detail in the game.
Considering that Luigi is the protagonist in LM, he would have to face things alone without Mario by his side and he would also have to save Mario.
But then you ask me "Dragon, where are you going with this?" Well, what if Luigi had the feeling that he already saved Mario before LM but he was just kind of mistaken.
So it is! Luigi had the mandela effect, he imagines something that never happened, he felt like he saved Mario before Luigi, but he only saved his brother for the first time in Luigi's mansion.

Wow Bowsario is so strong even the DOS version of Mario Is Missing made it into toxic yaoi! (And it's not even a canon game....) Poor Little Mario also has to listen to Bowser ramble and whatnot....

I also had a screenshot of a news paper in which a koopa ran away eating salad and thought it was related but nope I re-read it and it was just a random koopa
And have bonuses because I spent my breaktime on this foking game (sorry for how the text I've written looks I was screenshotting from a phone):
