So I’ve been playing the Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics series recently and found that there was a volleyball event with Rouge as a guest!

I was disappointed that she didn’t get a special outfit, but then I went down a rabbit hole lol. She would have probably made a tank top and shorts work, but Shadow preferred the aerodynamic cut of the swimsuit.

Rosalina's Weirdly Consistent Modesty

Have you ever noticed that Rosalina has consistently shown the least amount of skin between her, Peach and Daisy (and in more recent years Pauline) when they are put in alternate outfits?

I promise this post won't be creepy or puritanical, this is strictly about character analysis.

Believe it or not, Mario & Sonic started this trend (as far as I know). These are their Rhythmic Gymnastics outfits:

She's the only one who has sleeves.

These are their beach outfits/swimwear:

Rosalina shows the least amount of skin; you can't see her midriff nor can you see her thighs.

These are their doctor uniforms:

She doesn't show her legs.

These are their tennis outfits:

She's the only one wearing leggings.

These are their golf outfits:

Again, Rosalina completely covers her legs whereas Peach and Daisy don't. Pauline here is wearing trousers, and is therefore covering her legs, but unlike Rosalina with her that isn't usually the case when it comes to sports attire.

And in Battle League:

Despite there being customizable clothes, she is the only one of the four human girls to permanently have tights and sleeves, they cannot be taken off.

Rosalina's consistently modest clothing is a great and effective way of showing and emphasizing her mature and reserved nature. Especially in comparison to the other girls, with their outfits suggesting that they're more playful, youthful and flirty (Peach in particular), or sporty, outgoing, and willing to show off (Daisy in particular). Rosalina's clothes also add to her mysterious nature by physically and literally hiding parts of herself away.

This post is about the clothes, but I like how in their Mario & Sonic renders; Peach strikes an elegant pose, and Daisy waves confidently at the camera with a hand on her hip, but Rosalina is the only one who doesn't look directly at the camera (as if she is avoiding eye contact) and clasps her hands around her knee. Her body language is literally closing herself off. However, one leg remains outstretched, showing she's still capable of reaching out to others, even if she's not as extroverted or cheery as Peach or Daisy.

Even body language can say a lot.

Sticks The Badger Is Canon And So Is The Olympic Games

So many people know about Amy name dropping Stick The Badger in Sonic Frontiers at the end of the game thus confirming she is canon to the main games. However, many people don't know she was confirmed to be canon long before this.

So in the Sonic The Hedgehog Encyclo-Speed-Ia on page 271 under a factoid about canon we learn that Stick the Badger is canon. But what's more notable is that is referebced as her debut outside of Boom is Mario & Sonic At The Rio 2016 Olympic Games. From here a promo manga is mentioned for this and an official page on Sonic Channel's Japanese's site. This actually ties into a previous post I made about the Sonic character height in Olympic games and on whether or not the Olympic games are canon to Mario or Sonic, and thus useful for lore hunting and theory crafting. So this little tidbit implies that the Sonic Characters from Olympic games are the canon ones.

Also, with addition information coming from the Sonic X Shadow Takeover - All Answers (+ Bonus!) at 2:13, Sonic further confirms the Olympic games are canon.

Hey there! I think I'm having some trouble finding exactly what you're looking for. From my digging, this is the only Rouge related track I can find (without skimming a 113 track playlist in its entirety). If you have an exact title, please let me know and I'll go hunting again and have it posted as soon as I'm able!

This arrangement I believe is the same as the SA2 version, but the vocals have been stripped from it, letting you really take everything in around it. The horn section is really tight, with the bari sax really pulling its weight in the low end! You can pay more attention to the keys in the background, as well as the string padding as well (it even gets some lines in the back!). And plus, there's a really cool bell/marimba solo that takes center stage as well! This is a fun jazzy track, and I don't find myself missing the vocal melodies, even though they were a beautiful touch in the original.
