We are so happy and relieved the season is over for this year. But never forget those who were captured and killed all for those people who continue to support dolphinariums (like #SeaLifePark #KahalaResort #HiltonWaikoloa, #DolphinQuest, #SeaWorld, #Dolphinaris, #MarinelandAntibes, #MiamiSeaquarium, the list goes on) by continually showing the owners of these facilities just how much money they can make off of the exploitation of these animals.

Valentin 💔 Another orca gone. His mother, Freya, one of the original wild orcas, passed away just this June. Repost #Repost @liberate_cetaceans with @repostapp. Via @captivity_is_cruelty These are two clips from a video on YouTube that shows orcas at #marinelandantibes beaching themselves in a dangerous game probably intended to help alleviate their boredom. As discussed in previous posts it is not unusual for captive orcas to spontaneously beach themselves, sometimes for several minutes. What is unusual here is that in this video #Kiejo (the young calf- believed to be inbred) is blocked on two occasions from getting off the slide out by his mum #Wikie. Whether this action is sinister (captive orcas have been known to attempt to drown their young) or playful it is nevertheless a very dangerous action. If he spends too long on the slide out his own weight could crush his organs. At the first attempt you see her push him VERY far back on the slide out. The further back he is the harder it will be for him to wriggle off. At the second attempt he appears to be about to get off and she again pushes him back. Apparently Wikie's mother Sharkane used to force her onto the slide out so maybe this is a learned behaviour. Wild orcas are not known to beach their own young. In Argentina where orcas beach themselves to catch sea lions, mother orcas will encourage their young to swim close to the shoreline to watch them hunt. They will not however force them onto the beach and trap them there. Whether play or aggression this behaviour should not be happening and is another sad reminder of how captivity changes orcas. #boycottmarineland #boycottmarinelandantibes

WIKIES BABY IS HERE !!

Wikie gave birth on November 20th 2013 to a healthy baby. Both mother and calf are doing well. The sex of the calf is still unknown.
