RANDOM WIP
A small snippet from a random chapter that I have in mind for my Marina fic. No idea when I'll even publish it, but I think my girl deserves better, so this idea was birthed! A work in progress.
Time for some was nothing but a memory, coming and going whether steady as a river flows or erratic like the breeze during a storm. Some took no note of it, filled with relative ease about the progress of their lives and saw little to worry for. A blessing. A privilege that it was. Others, however, were not so lucky as time could bring a great series of dread, a collection of omens gathering overhead: How will I pay for this expense? Will this be enough for even a meager meal? Who will take me in when there is nowhere to turn?
Those thoughts had been something akin with familiarity to Marina. From the moment she was old enough to understand whilst living on the farm with her parents, to the moment she entered society, it had been a common worry. It only grew tenfold when she realized that she hadn't experienced her monthly and the weeks that followed proved her suspicions to be true. With the weight of a great shame and it's progression nearing impossible to hide, options had become smaller and smaller by the days.
Who will take me in when there is nowhere to turn? Marina shivered at the thought, as she often would whenever her mind began to venture farther than reach. She no longer had to worry about that now, she had told herself over and over. Phillip's arrival and his courteous actions had proven that when he arrived at the Featherington's doorstep (even after she sent him away) with the promise to care for her and her child (children). And he had, adorning her with the title of "Lady Crane" and a well-established home in the country that Marina could have only dreamed of living in when she was a little girl.
Back when she hadn't realized how cruel the world could be.
But Phillip had shown the opposite, albeit awkwardly during the first year that the two spent together. It was clear that her love and grief for George had been shared, and would always remain as she watched the slight sheen of wetness overtake the youngest Crane's eyes whenever he saw the twins, Amanda and Oliver, a small tremor shaking his lips as he forced a smile even through his pain.
But, perhaps with security came healing as with the passage of time, that ache that had been left by George had, slowly, began its own form of healing. Not completely, not that Marina was sure that it ever would, but enough that it had long been since she found herself in tears at the mere thought of him.
Marina often found herself doing the same.
Maybe time could heal some wounds, but this one currently proved more troublesome. Following the disastrous affair of Lady Whistledown's expositions and what they had reaped, visitors and even friends had been very far and far in between to find regarding her. As, who would ever want to be in association with the woman who had found herself with a child and no partner nor sign of marriage in sight? Who had tried to marry into a well-known and respected family while concealing such a secret? Marina had...made her peace with it (no matter the sting), but that had not meant that Phillip faired the same way.
As awkward as the scholarly man was, he had a boyish charm about him that only grew whenever he found himself in discussion about his plants (something which she still didn't fully understand). To her surprise, however, others had shared his similar interests and, within a few days, an invitation had been sent their way. Lord Jerald Belmont, an older gentleman with a generous fortune had been hosting alongside his wife, Lady Regina, a sickly woman who brightened at the view of flowers and any plant there was. It appeared that Lord Jerald had been attempting to bring back his wife's good spirits and Phillip had shown his value in that regard.
How? Marina wasn't entirely sure but plastered a small smile onto her face as Philip recanted his joy, scrambling to gather as many journal entries as he could, unaware of the troubles that brewed in Marina's mind. Troubles that followed throughout the night at Belmont residence as stares and whispers circled her, upturned noses and cutting scoffs at every corner. What more had she ever expected from the Ton? Under the safety of her new home, it had been easy to ignore. Hardly any issue of Lady Whitlesdown entered their abode and nearly none had swept past her gaze, so she had little knowledge of what went on outside of the country besides that out of the mouths of maids and others who worked within the Crane household.
But now? Even as she tried to ignore it, to watch from afar as Phillip conversed with Lord Jerald and witnessed him nearly trip over himself, that option proved difficult. When she still lived on the farm with her parents, even when in attendance at the Featherington home, she had never been one to back down from a fight. Standing tall and proud in the face of trial, Marina pushed on because it was needed of her. To survive she had to fight. But she no longer needed to fight as she was now married and well cared for, her twins were healthy and loved and she no longer had to fear the what if. She was...surviving. So what need was there to fight?

Bridgerton time travel to just before season one.
Anthony immediately breaks up with Sienna and starts arraigning things for Kate's family arrival. Before being reminded by his mother and Benedict that he is Viscount Bridgerton first and others can help the Sharma's get settled in England.
Kate tells Mary that they are going to England now and tells Edwina to forget all that she told her about marriage, and she'll help her find a love match. Once she gets married to Anthony, after a decent engagement period, she starts helping Daphne, Lady Danbury and Violet with items that require a lighter touch then her husband's.
Benedict finds Sophie and gets her out of Araminta's clutches. Then he helps Anthony with various legal/financial matters to support all of their family and friends in the future. He also continues his art because he loves it.
Daphne helps Sophie find employment in the meantime and works with her mother to set up other social matters that will help them in the future.
Sophie is using this opportunity to help Posy get away from her mother as well. Lady Danbury eventually offers her room and board as a Governess for her grandson Gareth.
Colin starts to publicly court Penelope. She insists that he still travel and start his journals, and they can have a long engagemnet. He of course brings back gifts for everyone, even people who aren't legally in his family yet. He also takes Albion and Harry under his wing and has them hang out with the rest of the Bridgerton men.
Penelope takes this chance to improve her spy network Whistledown sources. She also makes sure to set up her sister's with their future husbands and warns her mother that her father is in worse trouble then she suspects. She and Eloise bring Madame Delacroix into their spy network inner circle. She uses her new excess funds to help various friends that are or will be in need.
Simon immediately courts Daphne and secretly finances the Sharma's ship passage. Then he gets roped into helping Lady Danbury and her various "charity cases" (she swats him for that).
Lady Danbury does her best for her various family members. Improving her relationship with her brother, arraigning outings with Gareth and the younger Bridgerton siblings. While keeping an eye on her nephews James and Marcus. She also takes every chance to invite Posy but not Araminta or Rosamund over to her house. As do the Bridgertons and eventually the Featheringtons. She also takes an interest in a young Lucy Abernathy.
Eloise does her best to support all of her siblings and their soon to be spouses. Meanwhile she's helping Penelope with her spy network Whistledown. She's also subtly trying to get Cressida to be nicer and convince her to set her hat on Lord Debling when he returns. She also talks about her new penpal Mr. Crane and his love of plants.
Philip Crane makes it look like George and Marina got secretly married before he left for war. That way her children are legitimate, and they don't have to marry. He and Eloise start up a correspondence again.
Francesca Bridgerton worries about choosing between John and Michaela but they both reassure her that they love her and are fine with whatever she chooses. They all spend as much time together as they can knowing John's time is short.
Gregory and Hyacinth are frustrated by being children again but decide to use it to their advantage and get even more info for Whistledown. After, of course, making sure that they have regular outings with Gareth and Lucy. They might have to wait to be married but they are going to be around their loves as much is proper until they are all of age.
Lady Bridgerton is delighted all of her children are in love and working to better the lives of their friends. She works with Daphne on subtly bettering things in the Ton. And is open to meeting with Lord Anderson when he is in town. But she makes sure all of her children are being "proper" before marriage to avoid any scandals. She decides to make Portia an actual friend and help her with her husband wrangling. (she often assigns her sons or her sons in laws to keep an eye on him at various locations). Mary joins them when she comes to town. They all get tipsy at Agatha's on occasion to let off steam.
I'm sure they're all getting up too much more mischief, but I can't think of anything else to add. Or who else they are forcefully adopting helping.
If somehow Queen Charlotte traveled as well, she's getting her sons to marry their wives sooner and letting her children know she loves them. She is spending more time with her granddaughter. She hopes that things will be different but knows her death cannot be changed. She also engages Penelope in a long-distance chess match, with Agatha having go between to inform the other of their next moves. When he's having a good day she's having family meals with George and their family. She still picks her Diamonds but its not as fun when she knows the Bridgertons have the whole Ton rigged now. However, they do know how to get things done and she can appreciate that.

I think it says a lot about the shitty way queer people are treated that my reaction to the extremely obvious Cressida/Eloise chemistry this season is paranoia and suspicion rather than just seeing something with my eyes and trusting that that is, in fact, what I am seeing.
Cressida is obviously being set up to marry Debling to avoid being forced into a marriage set by her father, and characters won't stop reminding the audience that Debling is going to immediately disappear for years after the season and leave his wife to run his estate and live whatever life she wants while he's away. Violet has consciously given up trying to encourage Eloise to find a husband, and instead their conversations are about how Eloise needs a friend other than Cressida. They use the same language that the hetero couples use (Cressida calling Eloise not wanting her friendship earlier as "rejecting my suit," Eloise calling on Cressida the way a male suitor would, seeking each other out anytime they're at a shared function), and Cressida's father warning her to stay away from Eloise is straight out of the coming-of-age queer romances I read as a teenager. It's shot like a romance. If they went full Tipping the Velvet in ep 5, I wouldn't be at all surprised. The showrunner is also a gay man whom I would hope isn't stupid enough to be writing them like this "by accident."
It's also really clear this season that the writers have been listening to the show's reception and answering critiques in-universe. It can be a little obvious, but I don't think any of it is mockery or pandering. Violet is genuinely more helpful instead of pushing her kids into situations, Danbury and Charlotte talked about how the "season diamond" thing is Whistledown's terminology rather than the actual title of the role, Kanthony gets ep 1 spotlight and an actual explanation for why they're not around unlike Daphne and Simon, Eloise has been allowed to grow instead of being pigeonholed as the humorless obnoxious SJW. It would make sense to me that they would have also paid attention to the conversation about Benedict possibly being bisexual and realized that viewers would be accepting of and even enjoy Eloise being bisexual in the main text.
I'm getting into pure speculation here, but I also don't think thos production team expects to get the full 8 seasons. Netflix just doesn't produce dramas that go that long. My speculation is that they more or less have the greenlight for season 4 and MAYBE season 5. 4 is obviously going to be Benedict and Sophie, and my suspicion is that they have 5 earmarked for Francesca, since IIRC in her book she's a widow and s3 has her meeting her husband. They've done basically nothing with Sir Phillip and seemed to have put a bow on Marina's storyline in a way that I think would make it jarring to have them circle back to her and be like "she's dead now and this nothingburger husband is going to hook up with Eloise." They had chances, limited as they were, to have Philip make a memorable impression or have some foreshadowing between him and Eloise for the future and didn't even bother with lip service. I don't think THEY think they'll even get to Eloise's season.
Again, that's entirely speculation based on my gut feeling. But my point is that the show has put itself into a position where I think only the most diehard book fans would complain if Eloise's big love interest is a woman, and the show obviously gave up on catering to book accuracy ages ago.

Colin: A Search For Purpose in the Wrong Places
Colin Bridgerton is both handsome and charming so why is he often grasping for his place in the world?
From the beginning there is a common thread of insecurity attached to Colins character. He seems to struggle to know exactly where he fits, to find his purpose.
So where do these insecurities come from? Well to start, he is sort of the “forgotten middle child” in a way, he is the 3rd son after which are 2 daughters. While he and Daphne seem close, as they were close as young children, now that they are older Daphne is having her debut and becoming a woman in society. All while Colin is also there but there’s no significance for him becoming an adult. Daphne is often treated like a first child as she is the first girl after 3 boys and the first to debut in the marriage mart.
First he tries to find his place in becoming a husband, in parallel to Daphne. It’s possible he feels unseen while she is emerging into adulthood. He doesn’t know where he fits but if he vows to take care of someone, he will fit in, right?!
He is intrigued and infatuated with and Wants to “rescue” Miss Thompson from her older admirers and be her saviour, this is all before he knows about her “condition”. AND when he finds out he only wishes that she had been truthful with him. “You wish to know the cruelest part of your deception? If you had simply come to me and told me of your situation, I would have married you without a second thought. That is how In Love I believe myself to be. But I see now that was all a lie.” Read — Fixer! He wants to be the Hero, to be needed.
Following this betrayal Colin is once again set adrift and begins his travels. He has also sworn off women, as he later admits to Pen and is attempting to know himself better. This interaction is very telling to his feelings towards Pen because she says “I am a woman” to which he responds with “You are Pen, you are my friend, you do not count”. — yes this seems to some as not regarding her as worthy — but actually this hints at something else entirely. It’s an effort to separate her because in his recent context “a woman” lied to him and betrayed him and Pen would surely never do to him what Marina did.
At this point it is extremely telling that Colin is beginning to find his true self. However, part of that self is directly intertwined with his connection to Pen. “If Penelope can see me this way, then surely I can too”. She is arguably his most valued and influential female relationship outside of his family. Colin here is struggling to understand himself and his place in society and to contextualise what Pen means to him. All of this at a time in his life when he is struggling to keep afloat.
He visits Marina he seems awkward and is once again reminded of his out of placeness”. He makes an adorable olive joke (He is such a dork!) and nerds out about plants with Sir Philip. He is more interested in their conversation than he was with anything he was talking to Marina about. Furthermore, while visiting he seems surprised and almost disappointed that Marina is well. Like what did you think was going to happen? You were you going to save her from her life? Babies and all? Honestly, Marina isn’t wrong when she calls him “a boy caught up in his own fantasies.”
His visit with Marian was a wake up call hut he is still left without the purpose he was seeking.
“After all, everyone else is finding some purpose to their lives…and here I am feeding the ducks.” This leads him to his interaction with Jack and culminates in his “saving” the Featherington ladies which leaves him feeling like a hero.
In all his following interactions with Pen in the second part seem to hint at his feelings, (whether he knows it himself or not) he loves her.
“…Our relationship has taken shape so naturally over the years, one could take it for granted. (Hint at season 3)
You have been so constant and loyal Pen”. And his “Lady Crane was right about you…” He very clearly doesn’t understand his friendship with her but it is important to him.
Outside of his family, Colin doesn’t seem to have strong relationships. This becomes even more apparent when he is spending time with his “society buds”. All along while he seems to be able to navigate society with ease, he has often always been on the fringes and his relationship with those guys just exaggerates this fact. One comment made at Lady Danbury‘s ball saying “you are much much more fun this season”. It’s unclear clear if Colin ever really socialised with the “society buds” prior to the end of season 2 much at all. He likely didn’t though, because had he spent much time with them in season 1, he wouldn’t have jumped into proposing to Marina so quickly. So his comment about “never dream of courting Penelope Featherington”, a misguided last ditch effort at fitting in? Maybe!
It is Colin going away again, only for Pen not answer his letters this time that helps to highlight his feelings of isolation. Imagine, writing to the one person you most want to feel connected yo and getting nothing in return, heartbreaking. It’s not a wonder he “puts on armour”. When Penelope was answering his letters, he held onto the pieces of himself that she most appreciated. When she wasn’t answering his letters, he lost himself trying to find his identity apart from her. This resulted in him trying on a persona that no one recognised. When she tells him it’s been vexing to see him back into society if you watch his face in that moment, it’s almost like she slapped him and you can see his facade cracking for a second before he offers to help her.
Each time he was home, regardless of feeling without a purpose, he was constantly finding comfort in Pen. We see it in the way he goes to her “like a moth to a flame” at every possible opportunity. Colin has always been at ease when speaking with Pen. He appreciates her humour, he enjoys her mind and tries to make her laugh. There is even an example of this in season 2 where philosophising and Eloise is like do not encourage him (but not only does Pen enjoy encouraging him because they match wits very well) Colin also genuinely seems to be hanging on her every word. Until he was no longer afforded those words.
Finally it was those very words that led him to realise that he didn’t need to be useful in order to be loved. That by being truly himself, He. Was. Enough. All this time she had always loved him AND he had loved her, he just didn’t see it. Colin found that seeing himself the way that Pen had always seen him was how to find where he belonged.
In this way, he found his purpose. It was to love assuredly, fervently, loudly. That true love is Not about being needed, but about being Chosen by his best friend, the only one who truly saw him and loved him exactly as he always had been.

okay
so i saw a post about Lemuria Hub and the Deepsea Metro having ties to each other, and i have a conspiracy theory that's been rotting in my brain ever since i saw the Deepsea Metro map in Lemuria Hub
here's all your proof of that:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
plus, the eye posters from Kamabo Co. being present in Lemuria Hub as well. it's pretty obvious from these that Lemuria and Kamabo are tied together.
we all know and remember Tartar's goal: bring back humanity. but the name "Lemuria" holds a lot more weight than most casual splatoon players might realize.
because i am a nerd, i looked it up.
From the Wikipedia page:
Lemuria, or Limuria, was a continent proposed in 1864 by zoologist Philip Sclater, theorized to have sunk beneath the Indian Ocean, later appropriated by occultists in supposed accounts of human origins. (...)
The hypothesis was proposed as an explanation for the presence of lemur fossils on Madagascar and the Indian subcontinent but not in continental Africa or the Middle East. Biologist Ernst Haeckel's suggestion in 1870 that Lemuria could be the ancestral home of humans caused the hypothesis to move beyond the scope of geology and zoogeography, ensuring its popularity outside of the framework of the scientific community. (...)
The theory was discredited with the discovery of plate tectonics and continental drift in the 20th century.
this (now disproven) theory ties in pretty neatly with Tartar's goal. "Bring back humanity". the implications of Lemuria Hub being tied to Kamabo Co. very likely means that Tartar's hypothetical new age of humans would have originated from Lemuria. Splatoon 3 seems to like a focus on origins, because we also get the origins of marinekind in its storymode, Alterna and the Return of the Mammalians.
but there's something else that caught my eye too.
SashiMori.
with the release of Lemuria Hub, nintendo brought back the fictional band, SashiMori! which is great and fantastic, but im pretty damn sure that they didn't bring any other bands back from Splatoon 1 or 2 completely unchanged for Splatoon 3. sure, OTH was brought back for multi-player OSTs, but in the form of Damp Socks. (and the idols are a sort of special case anyways.) Squid Squad returned only as Front Roe. Yoko from Ink Theory returned only in Yoko and the Gold Bazookas.
but nintendo didn't change SashiMori's presentation at all. the only thing that did change, and was notably very mentioned, was the fact that SashiMori's DJ Paul was older now. that's it. (nintendo also didn't change Acht. this is an important detail, but ill get to them in a minute).
Paul is pretty interesting when you look at him. there's very little information, but what we do have about him ties in pretty nicely with Kamabo Co., Tartar's association with humanity, and Lemuria Hub. for starters, Paul's DJ mixing for SashiMori is hailed as unique in universe, for incorporating human voices into SashiMori tracks.
From the Splatoon Wiki page on SashiMori:
Paul is the band's DJ, an Octoling. He is 10 years old in Splatoon 2 and 16 years old in Splatoon 3, and his favorite foods are kelp and biscuits. He remixes from sources including DJ Real Sole, DJ Octavio, and various ancient records, and is surprisingly talented for his age. Originally, SashiMori had a traditional vocalist, but they were replaced due to their self-centered personality, after which Paul was recruited through a tweet. According to the Japanese Family vs. Friends dialogue, he is friends with Marina.
(...) This music has vocals but no vocalist! Through the genius of DJ Paul, all the vocals have been sampled from a collection of ancient vinyl.
so, Paul and SashiMori are associated with humanity because they literally use human voices in their tracks.
here's the final nail in coffin to make it all tie together. it's a pretty popular theory that Paul and Acht "Dedf1sh" (who was sanitized by Commander Tartar and composed all the Octo Expansion soundtracks) are blood relatives.
Here's their designs from Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Acht and Paul have the same symbols on their hats. their ink color even matches (from before Acht was sanitized). Acht has blue tentacles and red tips, Paul has red tentacles and blue tips.
even from the wiki trivia section of SashiMori's page:
In-universe, Paul and Acht are speculated to be blood relatives. They notably have the same symbol appearing on their hats, wear black clothing, with Paul wearing black T-shirts in both album artwork and Acht wearing a black dress, have three tentacles for their hair, and Paul's ink color looks similar to Acht's ink color before they were sanitized.
so what does this have to do with Lemuria Hub?
following nintendo's trend of splatoon artist releases with each season, they bring back an old artist and repurpose them into a new band or presentation. for Sizzle Season 2024, the band they brought back was SashiMori, but completely unchanged. (tangentially related, for the release of Side Order, they brought back Dedf1sh, also completely unchanged.)
the return of SashiMori completely unchanged breaks nintendo's pattern. alongside that, the stage released this time was only Lemuria Hub, and no other stage. (with the exception of Drizzle Season 2024, which released only Marlin Airport,) the trend has been to release two stages per season. this time, it's only one stage.
TLDR:
Kamabo Co.'s goal was to bring back humanity via testing and blending marinekind through the deepsea metro. Acht "Dedf1sh" was the musician of Kamabo Co., and sanitized in the name of this goal. Paul from SashiMori uses human voices in his tracks. Acht and Paul are very likely related. Lemuria Hub has Kamabo Co. posters and its deepsea metro map on display. the name "Lemuria" is associated with the origins of humanity via a (now disproven) theory. SashiMori's new music was released alongside Lemuria Hub.
SashiMori's new songs, with human voices mixed in them, playing over the train station of Lemuria Hub, which was likely an access point of some kind or tied in to Kamabo Co. somehow, is an EXTREMELY POWERFUL AND INTERESTING IMAGE. Lemuria Hub is hearing human voices for the first time via SashiMori's new songs, and it's been taken over for the one thing Tartar hated the most about marinekind: Turf War. (in a twisted way, Lemuria Hub hearing human voices is probably what Tartar wanted, but I doubt it wanted it like this. very ironic, i approve.)
so what does all of this mean? well... we can only speculate at this point. the themes of humanity in Splatoon 3 are matched in quantity only by Salmon Run lore (but, that's a whole other essay post, i won't get into it here). i personally think it means that we're going to see some kind of connection to humanity, OR salmonid development/lore in the next game. and with the FinalFest theme for Splatoon 3 being "Past, Present, or Future", im REALLY excited to see what it could mean. maybe Tartar's alive somehow, or maybe we'll get to look back at the evolution and development of marinekind, or maybe Lil Judd will finally snap since he's taken over Grizzco and the salmonids will have their apocalypse.
(as a final ending note: there's also a TON of association from all of this... with Off The Hook. OTH is associated with nearly everything here; its speculated Pearl was SashiMori's original vocalist before they got Paul, Marina is friends with Paul, OTH helped 8 break out of Kamabo Co., Pearl herself murdered Tartar with her voice; Off The Hook changed the world with Chaos vs Order, and Off The Hook is representing "the present" in the FinalFest. coincidence? maybe. who knows?)

🚂James the splendid engine🌹
❤James is the only bright red engine in the island of Sodor, and he thinks that he's very special and splendid.
❤He hates other engines being red and shiny like him because he wants to be special and not have anyone else be better than him.
❤James has scratches on his shoulders because of what Diesel 10 did and the attempt to chase him and catch him, which led to severe bleeding in his shoulders. After a while, James did not want to show his arms and he lost his self-confidence and handsomeness. He was wearing a hoody, and with the help of Edward and Emily, James was able to trust himself again.
❤James suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, a mental condition that makes him abnormally obsess about anything messy or dirty. He was afraid for himself that he would get dirty, and if he got dirty or his paint got dirty, he would cry and then go crazy.
❤James was the new engine before Thomas and his color was black, but unfortunately his brakes gave off a smoke smell and then after the runaway and the accident, this was another reason for him getting scratches and changing his color to red.
❤If you want any advice about fashion or elegance, such as hairstyles, nail polish, or choosing fancy suits, go to James and ask him for any advice and he will help you make you elegant and attractive.
❤James likes to brag about himself a lot, and every moment he meets someone, he brags about himself, and this behavior annoys the other engines.
❤James likes to wear those black glasses on his eyes to make him more cool and luxurious and also to protect his eyes
❤The cherry ornament in his hair is a gift from Emily for his first birthday to her, and he always wears it because his favorite fruit is cherries.
❤James makes a lot of mistakes, causes a lot of disasters and problems for himself, and causes a lot of confusion and delay, and this is only because he does not want to do the tasks that he hates, such as delivering fish from the fishing boats, because, as I said before, he does not want anything to happen to him because of his paint, or delivering coal, or scrap. ect, he only prefers pulling coaches
❤Even though he makes a lot of mistakes and always apologizes, he will never learn from his mistakes because he is a vainy bitch.
❤he likes anything related to cherries, like cakes, ice cream, milkshakes, juices, and so on.
❤he likes to spend his time with his besties Thomas, Percy, Gordon, Henry, or having a romantic time with Emily, and also with Edward, but when Edward is hugging him or something, he gets pan panic.
❤He has a little rival with Duck, Because he thinks that Duck stole the spotlight from him, stole his fame, and became the sexy man of Sodor, Even Emily sometimes gets distracted by Duck, and this makes James jealous.
❤he likes the bouncy pop musics and romantic musics, he's always listening to them and he's bouncing like a lily, just Play any pop music and see what happens
❤he's close with Thomas(bff), Percy (bff), Gordon, henry, edward, emily, daisy, Jenny(oc), Mia(oc), Toad, Donald and douglas, Nia, Rosie, Mavis,Molly
❤good friends with Duck, Oliver, Skiff, Marina (oc), Toby, Rebecca, Hiro, Scottsman, Spencer, Philip
❤James and Diesel come together when they want to play pranks or make fun of someone, because they have one brain
❤James is terrified of Diesel 10 and cannot forget everything he did to him. Although Diesel 10 has apologized to him a lot, he is having trouble accepting his apology.

So I love @sea-owl Philip and Penelope friendship aus and I just thought of a very funny scene for a modern take based on something that happened to me today lol
So this is a reverse stuck in the elevator trope but with a Philip and Penelope misunderstanding
Philip is in the elevator getting ready to go pick up his kids from a playdate at Daphne's penthouse, and Penelope runs in the elevator Absolutely in a rush, because she's trying to get away from the rain outside, she happens to be wearing a wool dress that's evidently absorbed all the water of the storm because she got caught in the storm without an umbrella and is desperate to get to Daphne's and change before she catches a cold.
so she gets in the elevator with Philip and the elevator malfunctions and stops working, after a few minutes shivering in her dripping dresss Penelope let's go of her pride and asks Philip if he wouldn't happened to have a shirt lying around in his suitcase and Phillip, who knows Penelope is a friend Marina's, being the nice person he is who obviously wants to help her, seeing she's obviously so cold decides on an emergency solution.
Meaning he doesn't think it trough and takes off his jacket to offer Penelope his own oversized Polo Shirt, because the elevator is broken and who knows how long they'll be stuck there. He'd rather she be a bit dry, even if it leaves him in his undershirt, Phillip goes as far as offering Penelope his pants too, but she respectfully declines, seeing as his shirt is long enough to be used as a dress if needs to be. Penelope is so desperate to get dry she accepts his help.
Phillip turns around, closes his eyes and Penelope changes from her drenched dress into his oversized shirt. But just as Phillip is about to put on his jacket again and Penelope is trying make herself presentable: the elevator starts working again
And before our two protagonist can do much about it, the doors of the elevator open.... Right Infront a shocked Colin Bridgerton and his sister Eloise
Colin looks at Penelope Dressed in Phillip's shirt, he also looks at Phillip without his jacket, dressed only in his undershirt and his pants half undone, Penelope visibly disheveled and starts seeing red, while Eloise just stares at the half undressed Phillip. Too shocked for words, but also seriously angry
Colin is seething. Eloise starts going on a tirade
Meanwhile Penelope and Phillip are like "We swear this isn't what it looks like!"
Looking like this, nobody is going to believe they're perfect strangers to each other

Marina in her marriage with Philip Crane is still mean. Like the guy saved her and her kids. He even sacrificed his own chances at love by marrying her. He loved his brother that much. I mean, he could have just kept Marina and his brother's kids as a ward and maybe made Marina their governess. But he married her so she has a place in society. Like I get it, her baby daddy died. Be grateful that his brother wifed her, treats her well. Sure, they may not love each other but they could at least be friends. He at least wanted that but Marina is cold to him. So many women in the ton have cruel men as husbands she's lucky Philip isn't. Portia gave her good advice that one finds love even in loveless marriages, their children. Focus on being the best mum for them and at least try to be friends with Philip.
I agree with this.
. The things Portia said to her made me love Portia more, and her character. Marina was ruining the Featherington's reputation.
I want to add something: if Colin would've married her. He was going to be one of the most saddest person ever. Crane, I'm sure, can survive the Marina cruelty, Colin can't.
He was going to marry her believing that it was the right thing, just to discover she didn't care a shit about him. She was going to be hard and he was never going to have a connection with her.
She was going to be cheated. Pen possible would married another man, Devlin or whatever. And him would be a bunch of sadness. Melting every time he saw her. He would armour himself very deep. But the feelings still will be there hide.
Specially because Marina is the opposite of Pen. Marina is cruel, when Pen is kind and sweet. He would be desperate just for a smile of her.
That's what is was really: what made him being away of Pen in the first place. The fear of not deserving the kind of love that Pen could give to him.
Colin and Marina was the most wrong you can find.

Bridgerton Thoughts
That literally no one asked for or cares about, but I need them out of my brain before season 3.
This will have some book spoilers, so be warned. Also, for context, I’ve watched season 1 & 2 and Queen Charlotte. I’ve read books 4, 5, and 6.
Who is season 4 about?
I think it will either be Benedict or Francesca. I think Benedict is the more obvious choice (I’ve heard murmurs that people think Sophie will be introduced this season). I also think Netflix would be aware of how upset people were initially that the show wasn’t going in book order. Also, for plot reasons for Eloise’s future season, Benedict kind of needs to be married with a kid.
However, I think it is very possible Francesca may get her season next, depending on how they handle her this season. If they have her meet and marry John this season, they could easily frame the next season around her and Michael. But honestly, whether this works or not is really going to depend on the amount of screen time she gets. I would wager most people who haven’t read the books completely forgot that she’s even a Bridgerton sibling.
Why can’t next season be Eloise’s season?
This is honestly for fully selfish reasons. Eloise’s book has been my absolute favorite so far. I LOVE her love interest (very largely in part because he has the same name and personality as my spouse). Because of this, I want them to do her story right, and I don’t think they will capture the magic of that book with the current state of Phillip and Eloise in the show.
Eloise needs a lot of character development in my opinion (not a dig at her, I’m so excited to see how she grows and I think it will be very rewarding). Maybe it’s possible that they do it all in this season, but I don’t want them to rush it. It is critical that by the time Eloise gets married, her and Pen are friends again. I will be heartbroken if they drag out the mending of this friendship for multiple seasons. Technically yes, Eloise’s wedding is literal weeks after Pen’s in the book, but I think the show writers can easily navigate this. Maybe instead of Pen’s wedding being the catalyst, it will be her pregnancy in a later season that pushes Eloise towards Phillip.
Now onto Phillip. The issue being that Marina is still alive, and his children are way too young at the moment. Could the show have Eloise be the stepmother to toddlers? Yes, but is that as rewarding? No. In the books, Eloise is the favorite aunt and has incredible experience with kids. This is what endears Phillip’s eight-(?)year-olds to her. In the show however, she doesn’t seem to particularly care either way about her nephew. Also, it’s not nearly as impressive to win over someone’s toddlers as it is to win over the absolute devil children (lovingly) that Philip has in the book.
The other issue is that in the books, Eloise has already turned down multiple marriage proposals for a variety of different reasons. What’s so fun is that these suitors’ “shortcomings” end up being massive character traits of Phillip. He is NOT perfect. He frustrates her and she frustrates him. But he is a good person. Your spouse isn’t supposed to be perfect, they are someone you choose to love because your life is better with them in it, in spite of their flaws.
Long story short for this one, I hope it’s not Eloise because I love her story so much, it would break my heart to see them do it poorly.
Season 3
I’m so freaking excited. This upcoming season is the reason I even started watching Bridgerton. I had heard about the steamy Netflix regency show, and honestly never had a huge interest…UNTIL I heard the next season would feature a love interest who is considered “plus size”. I’ve always been in the size 12-16 range, so this intrigued me. I knew I wanted to watch season 3, so I watched the show and even read 3 of the books (now I’m hooked).
I’m excited because it looks like the writers are definitely keeping some of the incredible scenes from the book, but I’m also excited about the potential differences. Especially when it comes to Lady Whistledown and the Peneloise friendship.
And speaking of friendships: I am feral with the idea that I will (hopefully) get to see Lady Danbury and Pen’s friendship on screen. Their scenes together were such a treat as I was reading, and I would give my left tit for them to keep those interactions in the show.
And of course, the music! Secretly hoping for a rendition of Unholy or Heart Attack.
The Colin discourse~
I’ll be honest, I’m a demisexual/virgin!Colin truther. I was really excited about the prospect of a male lead with no experience but a whole lotta lust. I was a little disappointed in the news that came out from the Sun article (though honestly I’ve lost the plot on whether it’s been confirmed or disproven). However, I think there’s the possibility that this could still be interesting for his character and for foreshadowing.
If he does indeed go see sex workers, who’s to say that they won’t have red hair? Or be on the curvy side 👀. Would be a fun little Easter egg to display Colin’s preferences.
As for the voyeurism … kind of interesting to me that he takes the wallflower role in the bedroom with people he’s not emotionally connected to. Kind of like Penelope preferring to watch the drama unfold from the sidelines. I think it’s an interesting parallel that shows that both leads watch others as a spectacle or show, and prefer to really connect and engage with select people. Yes, Colin is sociable and charming; but it’s superficial. He laughs and has deep conversations with Penelope almost exclusively.
It’s also possible that Colin is seeking out sex workers because he has no desires for the women he meets on his travels. Maybe he’s trying to explore why none of the women he meets give him butterflies. Perhaps he seeks out these workers because he doesn’t have to connect with them. He likes that the presence of feelings are unnecessary with them. He doesn’t have to fake his disinterest.
Ultimately, I don’t think him seeing sex workers is a sinking of his character. I think it could serve to show that the only person for him (romantically and sexually) has always been Pen. I think it’s an opportunity to show differences in how he physically engages with others vs his future wife.
And I still disappointed? Yeah, a bit. But if it’s happening, I’m gonna try to give a positive twist to it. *I want to note, i am not upset that they are sex workers. I think sex work is real work and they should be protected. I honestly prefer this to him being romantically/emotionally involved with someone. I was just really hoping he would be as inexperienced as Pen*
Future Seasons
What am I hoping to see in future seasons? I’m excited at the prospect of continued diversity within the love interest casting. As far as I know, Sophie (Benedict), John (Francesca), Michael (Francesca part 2), Lucy (Gregory), and Gareth (Hyacinth) have not been cast yet. These are all great opportunities to bring in more actors of color.
I suspect Gareth will be played by a black actor, considering in the books he is Lady Danbury’s grandson.
I would be OVER THE MOON for Michael Stirling to be played by an Asian actor. Michael is arguably one of the “hottest” most “playboy” characters of the books, and it would be nice to see this played by an Asian actor. Unfortunately, American media doesn’t often portray Asian men as the typical “hottie” or “leading man,” though it has gotten better in recent years.
I’d also love to see a Latinx actor cast as a love interest. I feel that sometimes this group gets overlooked a lot in “diversity conversations.” Though I may be projecting a bit with this one, as my boss recently said she “forgot about the Hispanic population” when talking about diversity goals. As part Puerto Rican (thought very white presenting) that still didn’t feel super great.
I saw the article recently that said Bridgerton wants to bring in more LGBTQ+ storylines in future seasons. Now, I’m a staunch advocate for each Bridgerton sibling ending up with their book love interest. BUT, how incredible would it be if those character were gender bent? Same character traits, storylines, names (example, Lucien instead of Lucy), but now a queer love story can be explored in a way that doesn’t alienate fans of the books.
I don’t think the showrunners will actually do this, as it’s more likely stories for side characters (ex: Brimsley), but it’s fun to dream about a queer couple being the front and center leads of a whole season. Especially if it’s in a way that doesn’t give people the excuse to complain that it ignores the book characters. Nope, it’s the same character, just a different gender.

my predictions for how season 3 part 1 will end:
The episode will end with Colin discovering Pen is LW and he’ll have his big explosive moment and she will too, but they’ll get into the carriage together after their outbursts and it’ll fade or black
OR the discovery will be made and they’ll get into the carriage together, continue having their spat with one another but the tension will become too much and the sexual tension will unleash (not necessarily the romantic I don’t think that’ll be until part 2 where Colin realizes that he doesn’t want to just marry Pen out of obligation but because he actually cares and feels for her as his friend and lover) BUT THEN once they’ve done the deed it’ll pan to them realizing what they’ve done with shock and surprise on their faces and then the episode will end
Eloise will come to realize that Colin knows about LW and she’ll have to knock some sense into him regarding it and will come to Pen’s defense, even if they haven’t made up officially yet.
I think they’ll steer from the books and have Eloise and Theo remain love interests, or they’ll sort through their issues and stay friends? Maybe? I just don’t see her ending up with Philip unless they decide to bring him and Marina back for another season only to have smth happen to Marina and he becomes available
Eloise and Pen will remain on no speaking terms but somehow LW identity will become apparent or on the verge of being exposed and Eloise will do something to counteract it or distract from it, maybe even come up with a scheme in part 2 with Colin to diverge it (similar to s1 finale with the queen’s men interference)
I don’t think Anthony and Kate will have as big of a role as I’ve seen some people say they will, but I think we’ll get features of them throughout the season, maybe a snippet of them having a child and Anthony feeling that out, but it’ll be similar to Daphne and Simon where they’re there but not really there or a main feature
I’m sure there are other things and subplots I’m missing but these were the main ones I’ve been thinking about. Any thoughts? Additions? Or are these altogether dumb and the worst opinions you’ve ever heard?

Marina Thompson (or Crane however yall want to refer to her) you will be avenged! Baby girl did not deserve all that, nor the slander that some fans give towards her. That being said, I feel like the show fumbled the ball with her and her future, if that, storyline all the way in the left field. Bare with me- here you have a biracial black woman entering this white family/household who already is against her, or more so Lady Featherington and that maid or whomever she gossips with. Like, LF wasn't kind from the beginning at all (we see how she treats her own daughters) but as soon as she noticed Marina taking attention away from her daughters (literally just by existing), she becomes even more spiteful and mean as she sees her as a threat. Even willing to sell her off to an older man, who could have harmed her, even after discovering that she was pregnant, just to get her out of her hair. Can you see the obvious undertones that carries?
To add on to that, the only friend that Marina can gain, can find solace in, Penelope ends up betraying her because she notices that Colin has been courting her and wants to marry her. Like, to me no matter how you spin it, what Penelope did was wrong because she not only spread all of Marina's intimate privacy to a judgmental society and put her in a very dangerous situation, but also her daughter. Do you honestly think that even with Marina being "fortunate" enough to become a Lady and cared for, her daughter Amanda will be welcomed into the Ton with open arms or at least with little difficulty?
Moving on from that, the fans aren't any better because the rhetoric they use is very disgusting and borderline racist. Painting her as this conniving woman who was only trying to trap this poor white man for her own gain (completely disregarding that Colin is, not only, an adult and can make his own decisions, would have likely raised the twins as his own, but also the whole point of the show is to obtain a match who could also provide for you aka all of which Marina was doing), ignoring how her choices were very limited and she was in an abusive household but are quick to paint her as an antagonist towards Pen (ignoring how she was the only one, outside of Eloise and Colin, who befriended her and helped give her confidence). I could go on!
And, lastly, while I haven't read the books I do know/am remotely aware that Marina does die in the books (possibly in a very traumatic way, correct me if I'm wrong) and Philip moves on with Eloise. Now, maybe the show didn't intend for it to be read this way, but it does give the vibe of the disposable black woman trope (it already did with the treatment of her and Polin, but this even more so because she literally dies). While Philip and Marina are very obviously shown to not have any romantic attraction, the show hardly does a good job at even making them seem as if they are remotely comfortable or at least friendly with one another. It's even painted as the last option available, which wouldn't be bad if we actually got to see the pair connect. Instead, Marina just seems lonely and an afterthought. We don't get anything else about her life nor see if she has any connections with the rest of the world (I don't think she does), so her dying would be even more saddening especially since she would be leaving behind her kids. And while I'm glad Philip and Eloise fans could potentially get their ship, it isn't lost on me that that would have to be at the cost of a black woman, who didn't even have a happy life to begin with. Like, again, maybe the writers didn't intend for this narrative to be there, but it is, and even worse is that Netflix or whoever has done very little to assist Ruby from the online hate and bullying she has received from fans, especially shippers (though, I don't think they do that for any of their cast, especially those who are poc e.g. what happened with Simone, Charithra, Regé, etc), and how she had to be hospitalized twice because her mental health was bad.
Marina deserves/deserved so much better (she will always be loved by me as the fandom could never make me hate her, even though there is little reason too).

I think I want to know more about the one night stand between Philip and Eloise that turns into yandere Eloise who becomes obsessed with plant daddy and his demon sprouts after one night.
So Eloise's family has a . . . history of becoming obsessed with those they fall in love with. Like they'll kill a man and completely obliterate the body if someone makes their love even slightly uncomfortable.
Some of her siblings have tried to fight it (Anthony, Daphne) some were oblivious to it (Colin, Francesca) and others completely embraced it (Benedict). Eloise doesn't get it. She has never once felt the feelings her siblings described and she has tried dating around to see if she can find it. Eloise began to think she'll never find it.
Then one day she was out with Penelope who brought a very handsome stranger with her. He kind of reminded Eloise of those men of the wood types from the romance novels she in no ways reads. Turns out his name was Phillip. He was a friend of Penelope's from their time at Cambridge University and once upon of time married to Penelope's deceased cousin Marina. To Eloise's surprise Phillip was a botanist.
A few drinks later and Eloise found herself very willingly falling into Phillip's bed.
They get awoken the next morning by a loud crash and a scream. Phillip jumps out of bed. Throwing on a pair of pajama bottoms, he's muttering something about nannies and days off. Eloise puts on his oversized shirt and follows him. Turns out the scream came from a pair of eight year olds and the crash was the piece of furniture they knocked over.
They took notice of Eloise and demanded to know who she was. Awkwardly Phillip and Eloise explained she was a new friend of their dad. It did not take long for Eloise to notice the small family was struggling and needed someone.
Perhaps she could be that someone? Yes, she could be. She could be. Eloise could see herself mixed in with this family.
Unknown to Eloise her own seed of love and obsession started to form.

🚂Edward the blue engine📘
💙Old reliable Edward
💙Edward is one of the oldest engines on the Island of Sodor. But fortunately Sir Topham Hatt allowed him to stay and even gave him his branche line because he truly deserved it.
💙Despite his foothold on the island, he is insulted by the big engines. Especially Gordon, but Edward doesn't give a fuck about him.
💙Edward is characterized by his wisdom, intelligence, and compassion for others.
💙He is tolerant with everyone, so there is no need to fear him because he will not get angry with you or hurt you. On the contrary, he will forgive you for anything you did.
💙Edward is slightly visually impaired, so he wears glasses.
💙Everyone thinks that Edward is unreliable and that he cannot do anything, but he proves to them the opposite through his difficult experiences.
💙Before Edward was blue, he was painted orange
💙Edward loves Molly and is planning to marry her because they have many things in common, such as calmness, honesty, intelligence, loyalty, etc.
💙Edward treats James like his younger brother, but I ship them sometimes.
💙Edward hates seeing anyone sad or crying, so he will do anything to make everyone happy and help them because he only wants the best for them.
💙In his free time, Edward likes to spend his time reading books or newspapers, or just relaxing in his shed.
💙Edward likes to give advice to little engines like Thomas and Percy, getting them out of trouble. As for Bill and Ben, he sometimes struggles with them, but he is patient, not like Boco.
💙He's close with Thomas, Henry, Duck, Boco, Percy, Gordon, James, Nia, Emily,Mavis, Philip, Bill and Ben, Jenny(oc).
💙Good friends with the scottish twins, Oliver and Toad, Harold, Reg,Rebecca,Mia(oc), Marina(oc), Paxton, Stanley, Daisy, Ryan, and very nice with everyone else.
