Marilyn Manson - Cake and Sodomy
'We would open with Cake & Sodomy and I would love hearing him say those words because it meant the beginning of an amazing experience - on stage and in our lives. Do you know where the phrase came from? Charlie had just gotten out of jail and was chilling on the street in San Francisco when Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel came upon him and said "Who are you?" Charlie said "I am the god of fuck". And thus, the Manson family was born.' — Scott Putesky

CHARLES MANSON
CHARLES MANSON
1934-2017
CULT LEADER OF THE MANSON FAMILY
Manson was born in Kentucky, US, and started a criminal career from a young age which included theft, assault, pimping and fraud. He started a cult during the 1960s, which consisted of young hippies, who liked to fuck, do a lot of drugs and who were easily manipulated.
Manson was a singer-songwriter, he met Dennis Wilson from The Beach Boys, who introduced him to record producer Terry Melcher. In 1968, the Beach Boys recorded Manson’s song ‘Cease to Exist’ (Never Learn Not to Love) as a B-side on their single but didn’t give credit to Manson. Manson attempted to get a record contract from Melcher but was turned down. Manson threatened Wilson by waving a bullet. The Family were living in Wilson’s LA mansion and were kicked out, and then Manson moved his cult to Spahn Ranch in Los Angeles.
Manson was a racist and believed there would be an upcoming race war and was growing impatient that it hadn’t already started. He decided to start it himself and called it ‘Helter Skelter’ (influenced by the Beatles song). In July and August 1969 he arranged for a series of murders. One of his followers was imprisoned for murder, Manson had the idea if they killed more people and made the crime scene look similar it would help have him released. They also wanted the authorities to believe the crime was done by an African-American.
The murders of the nine victims were completely senseless, they were innocent and Manson and his followers had no logical reason to have them killed.
Initially the authorities were completely clueless of who was behind the murders. They only learned of who the perpetrators were due to Manson’s follower, Susan Atkins boasting to an inmate of how she killed Sharon Tate (she was in prison at the time for car theft). During police questioning she spilled the beans on those who were responsible for the murders. The Family were arrested and the authorities found Manson hiding in a cupboard under the kitchen sink.
In 1971, Manson was found guilty of the murders of seven people. Even though Manson didn’t kill anybody with his own hands, he had strong influence over those who did. Manson, had previously shot a drug dealer Bernard Crowe in July 1969, who survived. There was also Donald ‘Shorty’ Shea, a Hollywood stuntman whose body was found in 1977, 8-years after his murder. Two Manson followers were convicted of his murder and it was believed that Manson may have also participated in his death.
In prison, Manson received more mail than any other prisoner in US history. Guns N Roses, Lemonheads and Marilyn Manson have all recorded versions of his songs. In 2017, Manson suffered from gastrointestinal bleeding and died from cardiac arrest from respiratory failure from colon cancer in November 2017. Manson was cremated.

So... I played the Sims 4.
I've got a cute family called the Atkins. I started by randomly generating the parents, since I loved the idea of the random genetics challenge. They're called Marilyn and Jace 'Every Party is a Pool Party' Atkins. Jace is kind of the star of the show. He's amazing.
So, Marilyn is an artist and Jace is a programmer and they have twins called Emily and Natalie. They're adorable. I'm planning on taking some screenshots, but I haven't yet.
Also... Geoffrey Landgrab randomly texted Jace (whom he's never met) and asked to hang out. So they did.
Just some guys being dudes.
They're now best friends. My goal is to move my family into the Landgrab estate.

If it's not spoilers in some way, can we get some more details about the Atkin family? Any members that particularly stand out? (outside of Josh and his parents ofc)
i can give a breakdown of who he stayed with during his childhood! note: i don't rly have names beyond joshua's parents picked out yet
joe & marilyn atkin - human!joshua's parents. joshua never knew them but he can recall their faces, and after repressing his memories of being a devil he ended up slowly developing hazy, false memories constructed from other family stories he heard those around him telling
joe's 2nd youngest sister/joshua's 2nd youngest aunt - first to take joshua in after the Atkin House incident. she's probably the nicest of joe's siblings, but she still struggled with joshua a lot because 1) he looks so much like marilyn, who this aunt was decently close with, and 2) joshua hadn't quite adjusted to being human yet. he didn't talk much, which she often took as disrespect or an attitude, but the truth was joshua straight-up hadn't figured out how to talk with his new vocal cords yet.
joe's oldest brother/joshua's oldest uncle - took care of joshua from ages 5-7. tended to be neglectful because again, he looks a lot like marilyn, but this uncle never liked her bc she wouldn't adjust to the atkin family's evangelical lifestyle. so this uncle tried to spend as little time around joshua as possible
joe's older sister/joshua's older aunt - took care of joshua ages 7 - 10. by this point joshua had fully settled into his humanity, which also means he developed a personality of his own, a fact which this aunt absolutely hated bc it meant he wouldn't be 100% unquestioningly obedient towards her n her faith. needless to say she really didn't treat him well.
joe's 2nd older brother/joshua's 2nd older uncle - took care of joshua ages 10-13. drill sergeant ass legal guardian who really wanted joshua to grow into a replacement joe, but unfortunately for him this is also around the time joshua entered his emo era, which this uncle thought was all Satanic Music. the final straw was when he caught joshua listening to slipknot's iowa (album) after isaac recommended it.
joe's parents/joshua's grandparents - took care of joshua ages 13-14. they were way too old to be caring for joshua, as they could barely care for themselves, but they were also the only one's still living in iowa at this point in time. unfortunately, they both passed away too quickly to really help joshua at all.
joe's 2nd youngest brother/joshua's 2nd youngest uncle - took care of joshua ages 14-16. only took joshua in bc it gave them access to their grandparent's house, which due to being in diane, had a ton of property value. however, this uncle eventually decided that putting up with joshua's Devil Music (lol) and overall rebellious attitude wasn't worth the money the house could bring him.
joe's youngest sister/joshua's youngest aunt - the last relative to take joshua in, basically for the same reason his previous uncle did. however, this aunt was much more fanatical about her religion, and actually thought joshua was possessed because. you know lol.
joe has another younger brother, but he made the wise decision that no house was nice enough to be worth moving back to iowa. marilyn was an only child, and her parents passed shortly after joshua was born.

Jim Kelly
James Milton Kelly (May 5, 1946 – June 29, 2013) was an American athlete, actor, and martial artist. Kelly rose to fame in the early 1970s appearing in several blaxploitation films. Kelly is perhaps best known for his role as Williams in the 1973 martial arts action film Enter the Dragon. He also had lead roles in 1974's Black Belt Jones as the title character and Three the Hard Way as Mister Keyes. Kelly died of cancer on June 29, 2013 at age 67.
Early life
Kelly was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up about 60 miles to the northeast, in East Brady.. His father ran a locker-rental service for Navy personnel. He began his athletic career at Bourbon County High School in Paris, Kentucky, competing in basketball, football, and track and field. He attended the University of Louisville, where he played football, but left during his freshman year after a coach referred to a Black teammate with a racial slur. Instead he began to study Shorin-ryu karate.
Kelly began his martial arts career under the tutelage of Sin Kwan The (Shaolin-Do) in Lexington, Kentucky. He trained in Okinawan karate under the direction of Parker Shelton, Nate Patton, and Gordon Doversola. During the early 1970s, Jim Kelly became one of the most decorated world karate champions in the sport. In 1971, Kelly won four prestigious championships that same year, most notably, the World Middleweight Karate title at the 1971 Long Beach International Karate Championships. Kelly opened his own dojo, which was frequented by numerous Hollywood celebrities. He taught karate to actor Calvin Lockhart for a role in a thriller feature film Melinda (1972) and plays a martial arts instructor in the movie. Kelly was also a professional tennis player on the USTA Senior Men's Circuit. He played amateur tennis in the 1970s at Plummer Park in West Hollywood.
Acting career
As an actor, Kelly became the first black martial arts film star. He co-starred alongside Bruce Lee in the blockbuster, Enter the Dragon (1973) in a role originally intended for actor Rockne Tarkington, who unexpectedly dropped out days before shooting in Hong Kong. Producer Fred Weintraub had heard about Kelly's karate studio in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles, went there to see him, and was immediately impressed.
This appearance led to starring roles in a string of martial arts-themed blaxploitation films, among them Melinda (1972), and Black Belt Jones (1974). This was the only role in which he was the primary star; most of Kelly's film roles played up the novelty of an African-American martial arts master. He earned a three-film contract with Warner Brothers and made Three the Hard Way (1974) with Jim Brown and Fred Williamson, and Hot Potato (1976), in which he rescues a diplomat's daughter from the jungles of Thailand. After his contract ended with Warner Brothers, he starred in low-budget films Black Samurai (1977), Death Dimension (1978), and Tattoo Connection (1978). After his appearance in One Down, Two to Go (1982), Kelly rarely appeared in movies. A deleted scene from the film Undercover Brother (2002), included on the DVD extra features, shows him in a cameo appearance with Eddie Griffin. In his last film, Kelly made a cameo appearance as Cleavon Washington in Afro Ninja (2009), produced, directed by, and starring veteran stuntman Mark Hicks.
Personal life and death
Kelly was married two times; from 1967 until 1968 to his college sweetheart Marilyn Dishman and later to Marcia Bentley from 1980 to his death in 2013. From 1973 to 1976, Kelly dated film actress Rosalind Miles. On June 29, 2013, Kelly died of cancer at his home in San Diego, California. He was 67 years old.

Day 235
Had a good day
Work was difficult
But it was okay because I got to leave.
Just... One woman tried returning a pack of markers that was covered in ash and when I turned it over, there was a cigarette butt shoved in the package.
Ma'am, that's gross, why would you hand me this?
Some people are jerks
And they all went to Michael's this morning.
In other news, I practiced my animation.
I'm having so much trouble writing Story of Fates
I am in love with the story, but there's just so much of it
I may need to start with something simpler
Like a different story
But I don't know which one.
Or if I want to do that at all.
I don't know how many of my creative decisions are influenced by rationality or just whatever whim I am beset by in the current moment.
Darn those whims.
Also, I played the Sims again. Because of course I did.
I love my little virtual family.
Look at Fletcher and Adalynn doing their homework together.
They buddies
And a bunch of the family hanging out over the breakfast table!
And once the kids head out, it's just Jace and Marilyn, so he can talk to her about... Dinosaurs?
Living the dream.
Also, there's a new baby!
Amy Atkins!!!
Woot woot!
I may be accidentally speedrunning the sims.
But I am too deep to stop now.

Judith Light has earned her fourth Emmy nomination this year, this time as Best Movie/Mini Supporting Actress for her role as Marilyn Miglin in FX’s “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” Although she earned two Best Actress awards at the Daytime Emmys for her work on “One Life to Live,” she is still looking for her first win at the Primetime ceremony, having earned a nomination for Best Comedy Guest Actress for “Ugly Betty” and two for Best Comedy Supporting Actress for “Transparent.” She also won Tony Awards in 2012 and 2013 for her featured roles in “Other Desert Cities” and “The Assembled Parties.”
Light has submitted the third episode of the series, titled “A Random Killing,” to Emmy voters. In the episode we are introduced to Marilyn, a wealthy cosmetics mogul whose husband Lee (Mike Farrell) is brutally murdered by serial killer Andrew Cunanan (Emmy nominee Darren Criss). The episode opens with Marilyn returning home from a business trip to find that Lee has been murdered in their home. As investigators begin to suspect that Lee and Andrew may have had a sexual relationship, Marylin refuses to hear any possibility that her husband is gay.
She is more concerned with protecting their family’s good name in the community. Privately however, Marilyn breaks down as she remembers her happy life with her husband. The episode ends with Marilyn selling her cosmetics on the Home Shopping Network, where she delivers an emotional monologue about her husband’s death and how instrumental Lee was in helping her realize her dreams.
Will Light’s performance capture the attention of Emmy voters? Let’s examine the pros and cons of her submission.
PROS
The key components of a winning submission are range, sympathy, and impact. Light gets to show a range of emotion as we see Marilyn both as a successful, energetic entrepreneur and as a grieving widow. We feel for Marilyn as she is forced to question whether her relationship with her husband was tainted by lies. And the episode is bookended by scenes with a ton of impact: first when Marilyn discovers that Lee has been killed, and at the end by her monologue where she tearfully remembers the way her husband supported her dreams.
Critics were effusive in their praise of Light’s performance, and with “Versace” earning an impressive 18 nominations, it’s clear that voters admired the series. With Light earning some of the best reviews for the series, it may be hard for Emmy voters to overlook her work.
Light is a respected veteran who has yet to win at the Primetime Emmys, and that especially helps in this particular category, which often favors actresses in the latter half of their careers. Previous winners in this category include Vanessa Redgrave (2000), Gena Rowlands (2003), Eileen Atkins (2008), Maggie Smith (2011), Jessica Lange (2012) and Kathy Bates (2014). Emmy voters could see this nomination as a chance to reward Light both for this performance and for her long career in television.
CONS
Light is nominated alongside Penelope Cruz as the title character’s sister, Donatella Versace. Being nominated against an Oscar-winning co-star could result in the vote being split between Light and Cruz.
Light appeared in only two episodes out of the series’s nine-episode season. It is possible voters may choose to reward a nominee that has a larger overall presence in her series.
