Tim Renwick does have some weird tangents in his illustrious career as we have seen and he could also serve as a possible diplomat. I mean, he worked with both Waters and Pink Floyd after the separation of the latter two. Still, I would dare to suggest he might have felt better at collaborationg with Gilmour, since he appeared on more record by Pink Floyd 2.0, including Delicate Sound Of Thunder. The live record actually showed the group firing on all cylinders. Furthermore, I understand the group changed without Waters, but the band also didn't lose as much as the collective could. This is still Pink Floyd, though the bitterness has been replaced with a brightness. While I think many felt Gilmour put too much light in Pink Floyd, I believe that is a good thing.

Vote for Queen of the Shadow Realm!
With Round One at its end, and in our anticipation of Round Two, it's that time again to nominate someone to rule over the Shadow Realm. Our newest monarch will rule alongside our King (Queen?) Roger Taylor, who was ousted in Round One of our first tournament. As with the previous election, voters will be able to select from one of twelve Round One losers who came closest to advancing. The top two will go into a final 24-hour smackdown for the Shadow Realm crown.
After the coronation of our Queen of the Shadow Realm, we will hold the vote for Duchess of Died-Badly-Shire. Round Two still begins at midnight PST on July 10th!

With the kindness of strangers, they were able to escape.
“They were taken in by strangers, even housed in a barn along the route of their escape.”
They were refugees, fleeing for their safety, fleeing for their lives, trying to find a new life.
The war-torn country they were living in had been invaded, and they knew they had to get out.
Fortunately, according to the National Endowment for the Humanities, the couple were able to obtain Brazilian passports.
Others trying to escape to the United States, like Anne Frank and her family never made it that far, according to the History Channel, hindered by “American bias against accepting . . . refugees”, which halted most immigration from Europe.
But, first they had to get out.
“On May 10, 1940, Adolf Hitler sent three million troops through the Low Countries into France, according to the Smithsonian. “Parisians fled by the hundreds of thousands before the Germans captured their city on June 14. Among them a young couple, German Jews who had been living in Paris for just four years. They had waited too long. There wasn’t a car or a bicycle left in the city. The husband bought every spare part he could find and built two bikes from scratch. At 5:30 on the morning of June 12, they rode out of Paris with a monkey hidden in the basket.”
Although the couple had previously owned two marmoset monkeys, they did not have an actual live monkey in their basket.
Writer Sarah Stewart Taylor explains further, after the couple got aboard the train:
Hans Reyersbach and his wife, Margarete Waldstein “tried to remain calm as the official came through the train car packed with refugees fleeing Nazi-occupied France and asked for identity papers. When the official saw the stacks of papers inside Hans’s bag, he became immediately suspicious.
“But when Hans . . . pulled out a manuscript for a children’s book entitled ‘The Adventures of Fifi’ . . . the official smiled and passed them by.
“Nearly a year later, after a harrowing wartime escape and journey to the United States”, the couple were able to publish their book “about a mischievous and curious monkey who was always getting into trouble.”
Immigrants Hans Reyersbach and his wife, Margarete Waldstein, used pen names and changed the monkey’s name. Their pen names were H. A. and Margret Rey and the monkey’s name was changed per their publisher to reflect a more American name. “Curious George” would become “one of the most popular children’s books of the 20th century.”
This is a new story for the Peace Page.
~~~~~
According to Taylor, “The Reys were living in Paris when World War II began on September 1, 1939. As news of the Nazis’ advance through Belgium and Holland reached Paris, the Reys began to accept that, as German Jews, they were in danger and would have to leave their adopted country. They were able to secure updated Brazilian passports and collect what they would need for the trip.”
“The Reys boarded a train for Spain in Orleans, France on June 14, 1940, the day the Nazis marched into Paris. On June 23, they arrived in Lisbon. Three months later, after a stay in Rio de Janeiro to secure visas, the Reys arrived in New York. They would live the rest of their lives in their adopted country.”
“The Reys were taken in by strangers, even housed in a barn along the route of their escape. They arrived in New York with almost no money, with their main luggage gone,” according to Rivka Galchen of The New Yorker.
“Little was publicly known about the Reys’ wartime experiences until a 2005 book, ‘The Journey That Saved Curious George,’ written by Louise Borden and illustrated by Allan Drummond. A journal entry of H. A. Rey’s from 1940 included in that book tells us something of Hans’s temperament: Work was going “very slowly on account of events,” he noted, of the week the Nazis breached the French border. A letter of intent to publish ‘Curious George’ from the English publisher Chatto & Windus specifies plans to publish the book barring any international ‘incident involving force majeur.’ And later, a 1944 New Year’s card written from New York reads, ‘Let us think of the future; that’s where we shall spend the rest of our lives.’”
~~~~~
“So far 75 million copies of the Curious George books have been sold worldwide in over a dozen languages,” according to writer Jeff MacGregor.
“You can find the day-to-day, even hour-by-hour notations of their escape in Hans’ meticulous notebooks, saved at the University of Southern Mississippi, in a collection that bears the couple’s pen names: H. A. and Margret Rey.”
“A series of lectures and programs sponsored by the Rey Center and the New Hampshire Humanities Council has put the Reys and their work in the larger context of American history and children’s literature, focusing on U.S. immigration policy,” according to the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“The Wartime Escape: Margret and H. A. Rey’s Journey from France” has attracted a lot of national attention, says Audrey Eisenhauer, executive director of the Rey Center. “This has opened it up to the world,” says Louise Borden of the exhibit. “It has let people know about these perilous times and made them imagine a world without Curious George.”

The points do not matter, but I did this anyways.

Fuck it Friday & Inspiration Saturday
it’s Saturday for me so I’m smooshing the two together.
Tagged by @thewolvesof1998 @wikiangela @exhuastedpigeon @lover-of-mine @disasterbuckdiaz @devirnis @spotsandsocks @callmenewbie -> tagging you all right back for inspiration Saturday 😘
Okay so I’m back from holidays and the writing beans did visit me (yay!) … but did they visit for any of my current wips? Haha of course not 🤪. Being near the beach inspired a new buddie wip that is going to be part of a series called Daylight, inspired by the Taylor Swift song of the same name. I already have some stuff written for two more fics in the series too haha.
Here’s a moodboard for the series and a little snippet from the first fic, I’ve been sleeping so long in a 20 year dark night (now I’m wide awake).
Quick summary -> musician Buck is tired of the fame, fortune and loneliness of a life that doesn’t even feel like his own, so he packs his bags and runs away and ends up in the small beachside town of Hartlan Shore where he may just find everything he’s been longing for.
“What are you playing?”
Buck’s fingers pause in their strumming, his left hand sliding along the neck of the guitar as he abandons the chords he was playing. He opens his eyes to find a kid, no more than 8 years old with curly brown hair and wide inquisitive blue eyes framed by red rimmed glasses standing before him.
Buck squints his eyes against the morning sun. “Uh, nothing really, just playing random chords hoping it’ll turn into something.”
The kid moves on shaky legs to drop down in the sand on Buck’s right hand side. “I want to learn to play the guitar, but my Dad says no one in town is offering lessons.”
Buck frowns in sympathy for the kid. He remembers being a kid in Hershey and begging his parents for guitar lessons. He still doesn’t know why they turned him down at first, leaving him to seek out lessons from the school music teacher, Mr Glover, every Thursday at recess. It wasn’t until Mr Glover flagged his parents down at the one parent teacher night they actually managed to attend, using the magic words natural talent for the guitar and great potential with the right vocal training, that they agreed to get him not only private guitar lessons, but singing lessons too. Mr Glover had been more than happy to keep their lessons up, but Phillip and Margret Buckley didn’t think a mere school music teacher was good enough to teach their son, not if he was going to become somebody. Buck hadn’t cared who taught him, he’d just wanted to learn, just like this kid seems to.
“Would you like to learn a couple of chords now?” Buck asks.
The kid’s face lights up, a wide smile stretching across his face as he nods his head eagerly. Buck feels himself melt a little at how adorable this kid is.
“First things first.” Buck lays his guitar over his lap and extends his hand out to the kid. “I’m Buck.”
The kid looks at his hand for a moment, long enough that Buck is starting to wonder if maybe he doesn’t know what a handshake is, but then a small hand slips into his. “I’m Christopher.”

i honestly dont know how i feel about Ethan Slater dating Ariana Grande... i guess im a little sad tbh and i dont usually like to pass judgment on people’s relationships or anything like that but the fact that Ethan was a married man...
he literally said on his IG that his ex-wife Lilly Jay was ‘’My best friend. 4 years married, 10 years together. And this is easily the best (and most *bizarre*) year yet.’’
this was before he was casted on Wicked.
ive been following Ethan since his SpongeBob Musical days and I will always be a fan of his work, but i was so happy for him and his girlfriend when they got married and they have a child together... Wicked is a turning point in his career but i also think it was for the worst.
honestly if he didn’t take the part on Wicked i think he and Lilly would’ve still been together...
Hollywood really does ruin the best of us. im not placing the blame on anyone but i dont see this relationship lasting long... most of Ari’s relationships were shortlived and i just dont see this being a long term thing which is sad considering Ethan ruined a perfectly good marriage/ friendship over a pop star who is clearly not a settling down type and a has a track record of dating people on and off and splitting up with people she made previous commitments to.
yeah idk tbh...
Hollywood hasn’t changed one bit.
you look at stories like Ann-Margret and Elvis Presely having a fling on Viva Las Vegas! even though Presley was married to Priscilla...
EDIT: My bad he wasn’t married to Priscilla yet, but she was living at his Graceland mansion and he promised her marriage. She was absolutely furious when she found out about the affair and that’s why Elvis and Ann-Margret broke up. Elvis almost left Priscilla for Ann-Margret but Ann-Margret felt like Elvis had to fulfill his commitments. Priscilla was barely legal at the time I might add but that’s a topic for another day...
or stories like Andy Griffith having a fling with Aneta Corsaut on The Andy Griffith Show even though he was married and she had a boyfriend with one of the show’s writers...
or Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton having an affair on Cleopatra even though both were married...
most of these relationships ended up in divorce to their current spouses.
and the list goes on.
you think Hollywood would learn by now.
you think people would learn from history but no... the wheel just keeps turning.
im disappointed honestly.
i would be happy for Ethan and Ari if they weren’t promised people but that wasn’t the case and i feel so bad for Lilly...
this makes me less excited for this movie ngl

This month’s Lobotomy Room cinema club presentation is Kitten with a Whip! Thursday 21 November at Fontaine’s in Dalston! I treasure this 1964 exploitation classic as an ideal vehicle for Ann-Margret, who I revere as a berserk mid-century sex kitten second only to Jayne Mansfield. After several musicals in a row [State Fair (1962), Bye Bye Birdie (1963) and Viva Las Vegas (1964)] which emphasized her considerable singing and dancing talents, Kitten with a Whip represented an opportunity to showcase the red-hot young Swedish-American starlet as a “serious” dramatic actress. And boy did she embrace it over-zealously! In fact, you could say Ann-Margret sinks her claws into the role. The film is like a mouse she subjects to a full feline attack! Ann-Margret’s frenzied full-throttle performance as juvenile delinquent Jody is one long continuous mood-swing, temper tantrum or “glamour fit”. She is so genuinely feral using female animal comparisons feel obligatory: she evokes not just “kitten”, but “tigress”, “minx”, “vixen” or “lynx.” Ann-Margret’s cat-on-a-hot-tin-roof portrayal was savaged by critics at the time (the film’s commercial and critical failure threatened to torpedo her initially promising career) and then later more kindly reappraised as campy and so-bad-it’s-good – but in fact (in the tradition of similarly histrionic actresses like Elizabeth Taylor or Karen Black), she collapses hidebound conventional distinctions between “good” and “bad” acting. If Ann-Margret’s performance in Kitten is “bad”, it is fiercely, awesomely bad – and never dull for one second. (For me, her overripe, bravura acting contrasts beautifully with leading man John Forsythe’s wooden, strait-laced approach). Join us and see what I mean! Reserve your seat NOW by emailing [email protected]. (The venue will respond with confirmation. If they don’t, pursue it).

Cutt Off the Dead Weight and Redefine
With reshaping the surface-level emotions, we must acknowledge the existence of the event(s). When we know the prompting event, we acknowledge the reason and what took place and hold of our emotions. It is validating to put a reason to an emotion because it allows the brain to understand our emotional reaction, it's important to validate those feelings with acceptance. We can dissect prompting events by creating a chain analysis to uncover contributing/vulnerable factors because that leads pathways to explore solutions to the problems with willfulness and radical acceptance. The best ways to cope is to plan ahead for emotional fuckovers (my opinionated top 3) are exposures, emotional regulation skills, and cope aheads. Exposers are effective and make you stronger and not only better your physical and mental health, but soothe's anxiety and participation in the activity over time reducing avoidance. For example, if you struggle with textures and smells of foods, I highly recommend you list rules (foods you will not eat/smell bad) and then number out of 1-4 how likely you'd be willing to do the thing that scares you, but that you can do, but it would be uncomfortable or a challenge. (EX: eating 3 big bites of fear food) It is important to try cope aheads skills because you will simply become a mastermind que Taylor Swift because with the power of coping ahead you are effectively preparing yourself for a situation you anticipate will increase vunerabilities that make us humans act out on bad behaviors. Emotional regulation skills are best described through the DBT book by Margret Linehan. Emotion regulation is extremely helpful to tolerate emotionally distressing situations that can send your brain into fight or flight, panic attacks, anger, or depression, etc. so it is important to find your fave distress tolerance skills. Plus knowing you can always reach out to me @ And I Bro Say anytime. I can personalize scientifically proven research to help lift the dead weight that’s been holding you down and cut that shit off. I know it’s easier said than done—beauty is pain. NEVER SETTLE gaining the power of knowledge with lasting solutions, rather than just slapping a bandage on a bullet hole.
You are not alone reach out here you're safe, worthy, and strong as fuck.
With all my love,
your bro.

full name: presley ann-margret farrow
nicknames: pres
age: 24
star sign: leo (august 2nd)
hometown: aurora bay, california
occupation: grad student at aurora bay college (education psychology)/pageant queen (current miss california)/micro-influencer
pronouns/gender: she/her, cis female
time in town: 24 years
location: aurora bay drive
@aurorabayaesthetic
the story so far.
what happens when a young playboy model meets, falls in love with, and marries a California real estate tycoon thirty years her senior and gets her pretty woman happily ever after? you get the farrow family -- some of the oldest money that aurora bay has to offer.
the marriage resulted in four children. three daughters -- priscilla, gracelyn, and presley. and one son -- memphis (a surprise born only two years ago).
dedicated to her role as a trophy wife and stay-at-home mother, betsy farrow put every ounce of her energy into micromanaging not only herself and her own appearance, but the appearances of her home and her children in the community of aurora bay.
priscilla was the ideal heiress from birth, expected always to take over the family company one day -- ranking in forbes 30 under 30 for four years in a row. gracelyn was a tennis prodigy with an olympic silver medal who married a kennedy. which left presley to follow her mother's childhood ambition to pageant queen with dreams of chasing the title of miss america.
from winning her first crown as a toddler it became clear that presley's life would become focused around this singular goal. aside from the pageants nearly every weekend, presley's schedule was packed with activities, extracurriculars, and church events that would form her into the perfect, well-rounded, all american girl that she needed to present herself as in order to win titles.
at seventeen, presley won the title of miss teen usa -- due to the obligations that came with the title, presley missed a large portion of her senior year of high school (along with prom and graduation).
at the insistence of her father and the dismay of her mother, presley took two years off from pageants to complete her undergrad degree. (chosen by her mother. education -- because it makes for good optics)
after returning to the circuit, she has recently won the title of miss california and will be competing for miss america in december.
fun facts.
has three talents on standby for every competition: ballet, harp, and cheerleading.
extracurriculars included: speech and debate, theatre club, student government, chess club, tennis team, swim team, cheer squad, and homecoming queen.
drink of choice is champagne (doesn't drink often)
drives a white bmw
has close to 300k insta followers
her parents throw lavish holiday parties every year -- they're known particularly for their christmas and fourth of july parties
karaoke song of choice is 'you belong with me' by taylor swift
connects.
tbd.
