OK so, speaking of how we're all reblogging the kissing gifs all the time. I recognized originally that the quotation @ddagent put with this set is from Romeo & Juliet, but somehow the meaning of that choice didn't hit me until today?? And I just ... I'm struggling to even find the metaphors but ... Margo and Sergei, they break the mold and reset the bar so incredibly high for the star-crossed lovers trope. They're not teenagers with terrible families. They are middle-aged engineers working in high-level public positions for the two superpowers on opposite sides of the literal damn Cold War. They're old enough and smart enough to know they are all but certainly doomed by the narrative. And yet they are unable to stop themselves from loving each other anyway.

O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do. They pray; grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.

For All Mankind posting, incl. spoilers:
Indulge me for a minute in thinking about the absolute heartbreak of having to be Margo Madison between 1992 and 1995. (Not even getting into everything traumatic that she went through before ... and after ... this poor woman, good lord.) You have found out that the man you've fallen in love with over the past ten years was using you for information on behalf of the KGB. You don't know if he ever actually loved you, had any feelings for you, or was even actually your friend. The one and only time he ever kissed you immediately turned into the worst night of your life. You've given up state secrets to save his life. But he disappears and you have no idea if he is alive. You obviously can't talk to ANYONE about ANY of this EVER. (Being Margo, not that you want to talk to about feelings anyway but still.) You have to bottle it all up inside. All the while you have to RUN NASA and your job is more stressful than it's ever been because you are trying to get people to MARS, two years ahead of schedule thanks to an asshole billionaire. And even the common human coping mechanism of Having Feelings And Listening To Music About It probably doesn't help much because -- the man this is all about gave you your record collection. My god, she is the strongest woman alive to even be functional through this.

Brazilverse morning after fic
Because what we all needed was some Margo/Sergei awkward realness, followed by smut and fluff.
Seeing no other choice, Margo squares her shoulders and turns the knob quickly. Sergei’s position, perched on the edge of the bed in his own robe, startles her slightly when she steps into the room.  She’d hoped he’d still be asleep.  His eyes meet hers and his lips curve up at the edges, though there is a slight caution behind it.  “I had wondered where you went,” he eventually says, quietly.

For All Mankind posting w/ spoilers, this is basically a shitpost although the whole thing is still a tragedy edition:
You ever think about how (assuming the full story became known eventually) mid-2000’s graduates of Spiro T. Agnew High in Garden City have a pretty unbeatable answer to the “What was The Incident at your high school” prompt? “One day our physics teacher straight up disappeared. Nobody knew where he was for a month. Then it turned out he was a Soviet defector who ran their space program for ten years. And he was in love with the woman who ran NASA. And then the KGB shot him.”
