My version of a Lucifer made Alastor duck!

So this started as a crack ship. It wildly got out of hand and I have lost all control of it resulting in multiple doodles and even a whole fic. Fitting, given the themes of this au which has been very causally dubbed the “Flare Very Casually Starts an Electronic Apocalypse” Au.

To sum up the au:

Flare takes CS to the heart of the fortress where its computer core is, and in typical ‘I have no attachment to life and life is kind of meaningless’ Flare fashion, proposes uploading a copy of Flare’s fatal logic error to the system (effectively single handily destroying NME as this server connections to all other bases) so the two can be free of this corporate nightmare.

While canonically Flare does meet CS and interacts with him a few times, the two do not get to bond beyond causing problems for each other as Nightmare attempts to control Flare with his control band, causing Flare to violently relapse and defect from the company. However in this au he is successful or in more or less controlling Flare preventing him from running off and stationing him to work in the main fortress where he gets to spend more time with CS and slowly bond with him.

Eventually they gain feelings for each other, and Flare eventually reveals he’s not complete under the control of Nightmare and is just acting like he is. When he finally finds a way to take down NME, likely for good, he and CS go forwards with their plan and Flare infects NME’s system with his fatal logic error and the two take off.

A couple days later the GSA starts to pull back from the front line as they witness the terrifying and rapid collapse of all of NME’s bases and ships as some invisible force causes their electronics to fail on mass. Deducing this to be some kind of electronic virus, they stand back and watch their once seemingly indestructible enemy steadily burn from the inside out as they fail to find a way to control or contain the virus.

Meanwhile Susie and Haltmann Works Co catch wind of this ‘terrifying super computer virus’ and Susie gets the idea to find a way to fix it to make huge money off of a cure, and more ideally she could weaponize it. This rapidly backfires as she messes with an insanity she can’t even begin to fathom, and HWC gets infected and it starts to rapidly consume its servers.

Meanwhile Flare and CS are finally enjoying life, as Flare helps CS discover himself. All while Flare protects his nerdy ass boyfriend as he adjusts to a non cushiony life outside the corporate office.

Reasons why it's OKAY to break the relationship between Nai'o and Kenyatta:

(max friendship and quest spoilers)

- she started dating him as yet another way to spite her mom

- he, a poor farmer who can't even afford to get new clothes, gifted her a limited edition music record of the band she secretly likes

- she lost that record, the chappas buried it

- she made fun of him for not being muscular enough, which made him obsess over trying to exercise more

- they had no interests in common, they just both like animals

- Kenyatta didn't know how to keep a plant alive, proving she showed no interest in what Nai'o does (plus she didn't want to ask him for help, for some reason)

- his room has a photo of Kenyatta on his table, in the tiny room he shares with his little brother where every inch of space is valuable

- in her huge room there was nothing related to Nai'o

- she was mad at him for not being at two places at once when he had to help his mom and she wanted to attend a concert together (he came but was late; she quickly got over it but she knows how her annoyance affected him and yet didn't reassure him later)

- Kenyatta has no relationship with Nai'o's family whatsoever, meanwhile the most important thing for him is his family (that's why keeping the relationship a secret was stressing him out)

- she likes him around because it's better than being bored

- he thinks about her 24/7 (which she later criticizes, saying he's "intense" for thinking dating may lead to something more serious; proving they have different goals in dating)

“Lucas,” he replies brightly, offering you both a charming smile. “Yeah, sorry. Met Duchess here the other day on the elevator. You must be…Harry, right?”

Harry’s eyebrows begin to weave together, broad shoulders straightening up ever-so-slightly. “Why the fuck were you in our elevator?”

“Well, Duchess was showing me up to the lab," Lucas says, nodding his chin at you while you share a smirk. "Helped me set up, which was really sweet.”

You wave the compliment away while Harry slowly turns to you and subtly mouths, “Duchess?”

You shoot him a pointed look. “Yes. Well. Anyway, Harry and I are really excited about working with you. Aren’t we?”

Harry merely returns your stare with a glare of his own before gritting his teeth. “Fucking ecstatic.”
