A Milestone Reached!
Today was Day 46 of my weight-loss journey that I’ve named “March To 100”.
For those of you who have been following my journey here on the website, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and DietBet, you’ll know that I am on a journey to lose 100 pounds by this coming New Year’s Eve.
I’m very proud to bring you an update today that tells you all of a milestone that I have met on this journey. A milestone that made me smile widely when I stepped on my scale this morning.
I have now passed the 20 pounds lost milestone on my journey! I am now 20% of the way to my goal on the 46th day!
Here is a graph of each of my 46 daily weigh-ins:
My exact weight-loss to-date is 20.6 pounds. I can’t tell you how excited I am right now!
Up until about three days ago, my weight loss had stalled as I had hit a plateau. It was bouncing up and down the same couple of pounds and I couldn’t seem to break out of that plateau for over a week. I didn’t give up, though. I kept going and I refused to let it discourage me…and I finally started losing weight again about three days ago!
I started my journey 46 days ago at a weight of 378.8 pounds Today I weigh 358.2 pounds. I am 68% of the way toward my first mini-goal which is to lose 30 pounds, which would put me at at 348.8 pounds….which just happens to be 1.2 pounds under the 350 pound weight limit on my FitBit Aria WiFi SmartScale that I bought a couple of years back. I’ve NEVER been able to step on it and have it read anything other than MAX. Well…very soon, I will step on that scale and it will display a number….a number less than 350 and then, once I’ve done that and posted photos and videos of that momentous event….I’ll have a like-new FitBit Aria WiFi SmartScale for sale! It will have only been used ONCE but I will have accomplished my first mini-goal of stepping on it and having it show me a number instead of MAX and I will no longer need it. So stay tuned for a great price on a great scale….but I won’t need it anymore as I have purchased a different brand that I am really enjoying. If you want a great laugh, check out my post about my FitBit Follies HERE. (Link opens in a new window so you won’t lose your place here).
Oh…by the way…have I mentioned yet….
Yep! I’ve lost 20 pounds of ugly fat and I do NOT plan on ever finding it again! It was so much fun that I think I’ll lose another 20…and then another 20…and then another 20….and another 20 after that! Who knows? Maybe I’ll even lose another 20 after that!
I know I’m very early in my weight-loss journey and I have a long way to go but there are some people that I want to sincerely thank for their support, love and encouragement. Without these people, I would not be where I am on this long journey. If your name is not mentioned but you have been cheering me on, please don’t feel left out, these are the more vocal supporters that come to mind immediately.
My Mom….who has been so amazing at helping me count calories, read labels, weigh foods and who encourages me each and every day and celebrates my successes with me. Without you, I definitely couldn’t do this. Thank you, Mom. I love you.
To the rest of my family. John, Denise, Steven and my four amazing nephews Mason, Cody, Alexander and Avery. Your love and encouragement keeps me going and I can’t thank you enough.
To Norma Moore-Dingwell. What can I say…you are family to me. You are always there for me and our swims at the gym are always great for some chats and laughs. Can’t wait until the weather gets a little better so we can get out walking together again! Much love to you!
To my brother from another mother, Kenny Rathbun Jr. You know my struggles to get healthy and lose weight all too well, my brother. We will both win this battle and we’ll someday get to meet in person. Hopefully, down there in Florida…because I love Florida..and sunshine…and palm trees….and theme parks!
To my trainer Kimmy Beck. You are the best! Thank You! You make me believe that I can do this. I am doing it…and I am going to continue to do it!
Melanie Jane Holmden…You have always been one of my biggest cheerleaders. You have always given me the confidence in myself that I have lacked in the past. Your support means more to me than you’ll ever know. You hold a very special place in my heart and you always will.
Lanny Poffo. One of my best friends and a man who has always encouraged me to get healthy and to do it smartly. You are a fine example to me and your pep talks and advice mean the world to me. Thank you, my brother.
Bushwhacker Luke Williams. You always support my efforts to lose weight and to get healthy. You push me to be my best. You’re always there to answer my questions and offer advice. Just as Lanny is…I consider you my brother and you are family to me.
To Barry O’Brien…who’s always there for a chat, whether it be at the gym or in the grocery store. Sometimes it’s about weight-loss, nutrition or exercise and sometimes it’s about our beloved Red Sox. You’re always offering your help to me anytime I ask for it…and we will someday soon get together for some gym time. You are a major inspiration to me, Barry….and above all else, you’re my friend. Thank you for your friendship and encouragement. Go Red Sox & Papi Rules!
To Michelle Montreuil…my partner in crime. Our daily texts are something I look forward to and I love sharing our successes with each other as we both share the same journey to get healthier and to lose some weight. You make me laugh…you make me smile…and we have a blast when we get together! We WILL be in a Color Run this summer and we’ll cross that finish line together! (Editor’s Note: We finished our first Color Run on July 2, 2016!)
To my massage therapist Lenore Lubbert at Espira Massage Therapy. You chase away my aches & pains from all of my walking and life’s daily stresses. You offer me advice and we always have great conversations when I’m on the table….well, except for those times when I am too relaxed to even talk. Above that, you’re a friend and I appreciate everything. Thank You!
Those MacMaster brothers…Daryl & Cam. Daryl, your posts of encouragement on my updates mean the world to me. You’re a true friend and I thank you for your friendship. Cam, your humor and encouragement make me smile and they keep me pushing forward. Please don’t ever change. I get your humor and, even though others may not, it’s meant for me and not for them…and I love it…so keep it up! Your friendship is something I treasure.
Cheri Gallant…you have no idea how much I look forward to your daily posts on Facebook. Your sharing of your successes and struggles make me realize that someone else shares the same feelings I do on this journey. You’ve come so far and you are a major inspiration to me. Don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing. Somebody out here notices and looks forward to it each and every day. Keep marching forward and I look forward to the day soon that we can go out for a walk together in Charlottetown and catch up. It’s been far too long, my friend. You’re wonderful..and don’t ever forget that.
To my friends on MyFitnessPal.com You are an amazing group of people and I thank you for your support and encouragement every day.
To my family at DietBet/WayBetter You help me keep focused every day and you are constantly checking on my progress. Thank you for being a huge part of my life.
To anyone I didn’t mention, please don’t get offended. I’ll try to include you when I reach 30 lbs off!
Just in case I forgot to mention it….
Ok….I’ll sign off here. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. I’m just getting started and I’m committed to this like never before. Stay tuned for future updates and I’ll see you soon!

I had an amazing time at the 2016 Color Run here in PEI. The certainly didn’t hold back when they hit me with the colored powder! I’m already looking forward to next year’s Color Run! This was just a couple of weeks after I spent a week in the hospital with a serious leg infection that rendered me unable to walk for several days.
