Anyway, I can't form too many coherent thoughts right now because I've been crying way too much but I just want to thank @thepenumbrapodcast team for everything they've done over the years. I first started listening mid season two so I guess that makes me one of the oldies.

This podcast gave me everything I didn't realize I was missing from the media I consumed. Everything I watch or listen to or read, I compare to how The Penumbra makes me feel. It wasn't always perfect, but I always had fun. Even when I was in the most emotional pain, crying and screaming and frothing at the mouth, it was because I CARED about these characters and I CARED about their stories.

No other piece of media has successfully made me feel this way before and it's hard for me to believe I can ever feel this way for something again. I think that's the definition of true love, honestly.

Thank you for not only your stories but for helping me find my people online. I have made friends through this fandom I would never had made otherwise. This wasn't just a podcast, it was a place and a people.

As a writer myself, I can only aspire to do for others all that you've done for me.

I think until this episode, I was under the impression that Marc would come around but with the most recent episode it looks like that’s not happening. I get that he finally was able to win in the system that beat him down for so long, but I just kinda thought he’d do the right thing eventually for the sake of all his friends. I mean really, his basically sister is dating the people he’s trying to kill. The venom in his voice right before he left settles everything though. He never even tried to change, not really. Prejudice is something you need to unlearn, and everyone is a casualty of their upbringing, but they all gave him ample time. No wonder they weren’t talking to him season 4.

I must have not been paying enough attention to the earlier episodes of The Second Citadel because I somehow never registered thar Sir Marc was disabled until just now listening to E5 E11... the whole dipdang series pretty much, and I never realized until he talks a little more in depth about his saddle that he made to keep him on Dampierre.

I feel silly about how badly it went over my head.

Probably not gonna happen this season, and also given last season's 💀✨EVERYTHING✨💀 it is pretty much irrelevant, but I'd honestly love to meet Tal and Marc's parents.

I want to meet the people that took Rilla into their home and raised her, despite the dark reputation of her exiled parents and her own interest in magic.

I want to meet the people who helped Marc find creative ways to stay mobile with his disability. Given that they're from the carpenters' quarters, I'm guessing they're ingenious builders themselves and I'd love to see the things they're proud of making.

And, most of all, I want to meet the woman that bashed a bully's head in with her elbow and then elbowed his dad too just to make her point. Where is my new kick-ass mom to worship??? Where is she????

I have a whole Second Citadel/Dead Space au that I’m likely never gonna write but I still wanna talk about it, so… spoilers for the remake

Talfryn as Isaac, traveling out to the ship to help repair it and to make sure his brother Marc is okay after receiving a cryptic message from him. He’s also worried about his other friends on the ship, Rilla the doctor and Damien the security officer. Potentially Sir Caroline as Kendra, albeit less of a villain.

Shit happens as normal, Talfryn finds and interacts with Marc and survives as best he can in the hopes of bringing home the people he loves. He encounters Rilla and helps her repair hydroponics, but she won’t go with him because she absolutely has to find Damien. Later on, Talfryn will find Damien, and watch him die at the hands of a unitologist called Kite. Talfryn grieves, cursing his helplessness, wondering how he’s going to tell Rilla, tell Arum. Marc comforts him over the comms, swearing to him that they will make it right. Talfryn continues on his survival quest, mentioning to Caroline that he’s working with Marc and not noticing how oddly she reacts to that news. He follows Marc’s suggestions, Marc’s instructions, grateful that his big brother is handling all this so well.

It ends as the game does, Caroline holding ‘Marc’ at gunpoint and forcing Talfryn to confront the truth, that Marc is long dead, that the person he’s been speaking to was not Marc at all, but Rilla. They’d both been manipulated by the Marker, made to see who they wanted to see, Marc for Talfryn and Damien for Rilla. Rilla, of course, doesn’t react well (“No, no, no, we were going to be whole, Damien said-“)

Talfryn ends up being the only survivor, barely escaping with his life and forever haunted by twisted hallucinations of his dead brother.
