National Iced Tea Day
When the weather gets too warm for hot tea, just ice it! Mint tea, fruity teas, even the Southern classic sweet tea will all refresh you on a warm and sunny day.
Drinks are such a key part of modern culture that they are so much than just a necessity for the body. We drink water to survive, we drink coffee to stay alert, we sip cocktails to feel refreshed and get in the mood, and we drink soda to relax and unwind. Different drinks feed into different moods and give us new and unique experiences that play a big role in our lives, both socially and at home. So, it is important to make sure you sample as many different beverages as you can.
When it comes to quenching thirst and being refreshed on a hot summer’s day, there are a lot of things you can choose from. Many will crack open a beer or a bottle of wine, but how about sampling some gorgeous iced tea. There are a lot of things you need to keep in mind when it comes to trying this delicious beverage. In fact, there is even an National Iced Tea Day, solely dedicated to the discovery and enjoyment of all things iced tea related; try to ensure you make the most of this as much as you can right now.
On a hot summer day, there’s nothing that quenches the thirst and fosters relaxation quite as much as a frosty cold glass of iced tea. While hot tea is delicious and certainly an excellent beverage for most situations, it’s purely inappropriate for picnics, and it only stays hot so long. Instead, it is necessary to branch out to the more versatile and refreshing alternatives. Sweet tea is one of the most popular beverages in the deep South, but it’s just one example of the variety that can be iced tea.
History of National Iced Tea Day
While recipes for Iced Tea go back as far as the 1870’s, it wasn’t until 1904 that it exploded in popularity. This was due in no small part to the World’s Fair and the heat of the summer that was baking it. Iced Tea was being served, and the fair goers were drinking it en masse, and in almost no time at all, it was being served in tall glasses so well known for this purpose that they were called iced-tea glasses. You know a drink has truly come into its own when special utensils are made for its preparation, and it wasn’t just the glasses, iced-tea spoons and lemon forks were developed to make its consumption both easier and more satisfying.
Iced Tea is typically made from the tea plant, but just like with hot teas, it can be made with just about anything, and herbal teas are often a popular choice for the cool drink. Imagine the parade of flavors available to you, a cool mint tea stirred with a bit of lime, or if you’re in India you may as well do as the locals do and enjoy your tea with a bit of ginger. Our personal favorite? Peach Iced Tea, it’s delightful.
National Iced Tea Day exists to pay homage to the popular and delicious beverage, and it’s something more of us should get involved with. This is a drink that is growing in popularity, and there is a growing consumer base for it, both in the United States and abroad. This is why manufacturers continue to come up with different and interesting flavors of iced tea that you can choose from moving forward.
How to celebrate National Iced Tea Day
Making the most of National Iced Tea Day by way of celebration is a great way of being able to sample some of the tasty and unique types of iced tea that are on offer. This is something you need to make sure you think about when you are looking to make the most of this. Now, there are plenty of things you can do if you are serious about celebrating this day properly.
See if you can get a coupon for free iced tea
Get creative and come up with your own recipe
Enjoy the different iced tea flavors that restaurants and bars are offering
Iced tea popsicles is a great addition to the day
Hosting an iced tea party would be the absolute best approach to take to celebrate this day
Add some booze into the mix to make adult iced teas
Of course, there are so many different flavors you can enjoy with iced tea, and this is the beauty of it. Make sure you take the time to enjoy and experiment with all the different flavors that you can use, and try to come up with some combinations of your own. This is something that can really go a long way toward enhancing and improving your enjoyment of National Iced Tea Day, and you can make a thing of it each year.
The best way to celebrate National Iced Tea Day is with a frosty glass of iced tea! But given that you’ll be enjoying it on a special occasion, why only work with one? Instead, you can prepare a positive banquet of delicious iced teas. Peach Iced Tea, Mango Iced Tea, Ginger Lemon, or just an old fashioned sweet tea like they can only make in the south, there’s simply nothing like it. Why not try to come up with your own combination?

What I have been thinking, captain, is what is exempt from import tax in one country is what I'd like to stick through the crack in my skull to start to fill it: hay, oranges, lemons, pineapples, cocoa nuts, grapes, green fruit, and vegetables of every variety, and linseed oil cake. Horses, pigs, poultry, dogs, and living animals of every description, except cattle and sheep. Corks, bark, firewood, logwood, and dyewoods. Copper or yellow metal, rod bolts or sheathing, and copper and yellow metal nails. Felt for sheathing, oakum and junk, pitch, tar, and resin. Sail canvas, boats, and boat oars.
I fill my head with ships' blocks, binnacle lamps, signal lamps, compasses, shackles, sheaves, deadeyes, rings and thimbles, dead lights, anchors, and chain cables of every description, and galvanized iron wire rope. Lime juice and ice. Printed books, music, and newspapers, maps, charts, globes, and uncut cardboard, millboard, and pasteboard. Ink, printing presses, printing type, and other printing materials. Passengers' baggage or cabin furniture arriving in the colony at any time within three months before or after the owner thereof. Tablets, memorial windows, harmoniums, organs, bells, and clocks specially imported for churches or chapels. Hides and skins of every description, raw and unmanufactured. Veneers of all sorts. Rattans, split or unsplit.

What you want for glass manufacturing,
A) something to burn
The amounts of Trees that glassmanufacturing has eaten up is insane
(of course today these Glass melting furnaces are heaten different but you said fantasy world so I am going by traditional)
You want big thick deep lush Forests with big lush trees
Or I guess a coal mine would work too?
Today these furnaces are heated with fossil fuels or electricity
But yeah you need fuel
B) sand deposits
For example you can see that sand deposits here are (more or less) close to glass manufacturing
SOURCE
SOURCE
And they have been manufacturing glass since the renaissance
C) good import and export oportuneties
Like a river or a harbor
Becasue you need all kind sof stuff for teh glass making besides the stuff for the glass (quarz sand, lime, soda) but also other stuff (gold for red glass, cobalt for blue glass etc ... ) and you want to transport the glass your making away, and rivers where the highways of teh ancient world
If you look at where historically glass was made, at least one of those things but usually two occured
But you are creating your world, so you can have all three if you want to
As for pureties
People in teh past where rather sophisticated in figuring out what something was simply by looking at it, weighting it, tasting it etc ...
-> You can find certain metall deposits through what plants are growing in teh area
I mean, glass making is an old trade
-> The oldest human made glass is around 4000 yeasr old
And quarz sand has a certain look to it
the corns are sharp, they have a certain sheen to them, they have a certain hardness to them etc ...
So just by looking at them you can already tell if it is mostly pure
Plus, NaCl will disolve lime but not quarz, so you can take a handfull, weight it, put it in NaCl, leafe it overnight wash it, weight it again and if it is teh same weight you know it's propably mostly quarz
If not you know there are impureties, based on how much weight is lost you might decide not to buy because it's low quality
etc ...
Then of course you would do a test batch and see how that glass turns out, since there might be other impureties that you then have to figure out the same as with the lime (with different acid of course)
etc ...
Glass manufacturing was always closely related to magic
(same as metal forging)
And the secrets of the trade where guarded carefully
I mean we have all heard of the glassmakers from Murano (venice) that where not allowed to leave unless they had a special permission disobidience was punished by death
-> Venice being at the coast and a major trading harbor also was a good choice because import export
There quarz however came from other places
Two sources for sand were Crete and Sicily. Quartz pebbles were selected from the Ticino and Adige rivers in Northern Italy.
Hope that was helpfull for your worldbuilding :-)
I love glass :-)
Oh, I have to share this wonder, it is a silver automaton looking like a swan on water made of glass
(the water is made of twisted glass rodds that turn and make it look liquid)
I fucking LOVE glass
How do they choose which sand to be the glass and which sand to be the sand in an hourglass... Imagine you and your best friend were two grains of sand and you had to be in the hourglass and your bestie had to be the glass. Ur together but youve never been more apart. A Sick and twisted practice hourglassery is...

Oh talking about the age thing, when I was scanning through their privacy policy I came across this:
And while I presume it's just standard policy to have this section in your privacy policy, it's really fucking weird that they have this but no age verification system.
It's also just weird that an alcohol brand will happily sell personal data of kids under 13 if their parents says yes to them, and that they're just publicly announcing that.
Similarly, it feels pertinent to bring up the fact that their marketing is very much aiming for a younger audience. It's certainly not going to appeal to the generation of gay men for whom gay water is a colloquialism for vodka soda.
Also, I've read through quite a few of those articles about the brand and a lot of them are basically the same article. I presume that they sent out a press release and most of the writers just didn't stray from them.
Two of them caught my eye though, specifically the CNN article for this little paragraph at the end:
For one, they spelled his damn name wrong, and two, I'm just not a fan of calling alcohol brands "straight-coded". Feels very much like someone trying to get the right buzzword, and also the Bud Light thing was not because they worked with a gay influencer. It was because they worked with a trans influencer, namely Dylan Mulvaney. Straight is not synonymous with not queer, are we really having this conversation again in 2024?
The other article was the Queerency article where this little detail is mentioned:
Truly inspiring levels of mistrust I didn't think they could stoop too.
Glad they decided against selling that batch, but normally, when you make a product, you don't just make a batch of 40,000. You make a prototype; it tends to help you avoid incidents like this.
Hoddeson doesn't offer any more details about that incident so absolutely no idea what the actual issue with the lining was nor how they fixed it. Either this brand is demonstrating Elon Musk levels of manufacturing irresponsibility or Spencer Hoddeson is demonstrating Elon Musk levels of media training, or both.
Also in the Queerency article, I got this graphic:
So I still have no idea what is in this product. I presume the 3 ingredients are vodka, soda and watermelon/lime/peach/grapefruit, but I shouldn't have to be presuming and also, that's not a full ingredient list.
Here's hoping they actually list the ingredients and quantities on the packaging itself.
I personally have no way of checking that because the most convenient way of doing it would involve me flying to Malta, which they sell in Malta by the way?
marketing guy: hmmm yeah we need to make vodka soda branded as “gay water.” make sure the packaging looks like diaper packaging.
other marketing guy: maybe we should add funny little stickers, like–
both at the same time: racism is small dick energy!
#this entire thing is just so gross#but oh my god the fact that you can order it online and yet i havent been able to find a full ingredients list anywhere???????#THATS NOT HOW THIS WORKS SPENCER HODDESON#THERES REGULATIONS ABOUT THIS KIND OF THING

Fireproof Ceramics Market: Current Analysis and Forecast (2024-2032)
The Fire-Rated Glass-Ceramics Application and Comparison with the Competing Material With fire safety becoming more central in construction, Fireproof Ceramics Market the materials used in fire-appropriate construction are of utmost importance. Current statistics reveal a new trend for fire incidences which is why the builders and consumers hold safety in high esteem. Among the various materials available in the market, glass ceramics have appeared as a better option for fire-resistant applications like doors, building frontages, roofs, and partitions. What follows in this article looks to outline more glass ceramics when used in these crucial applications over soda-lime glasses.
Knowledge of Glass-Ceramics and Soda Lime Glass
Soda-lime glass is the most widely used type of glass found in buildings and structures. However, this may be controlled in certain applications due to its relatively high coefficient of thermal expansion causing problems in fire-rated applications. Soda-lime glass cracks easily if exposed to heat because it expands and contracts quickly to different sizes. This characteristic generally you can only pass through fire safety tests after several production trials due to needing many productions to get certification.
While glass ceramics show a nearly negligible thermal coefficient of expansion, they are capable of withstanding some of the harshest working temperatures and do not crack. They can readily withstand fire tests at temperatures of up to 1,900 degrees Celsius, for three hours or more, qualifying them for fire-rated constructions.
Access sample report (including graphs, charts, and figures): https://univdatos.com/get-a-free-sample-form-php/?product_id=67967
Advantages of Glass-Ceramics
1. Enhanced Fire Resistance: Glass ceramics protect against fire, hot gases, and smoke for long periods, from 90 minutes on windows to 180 minutes within buildings. This capability is important to minimize the losses of property and to protect the occupant from fire.
2. Lightweight and Easy to Manage: Ordinary glass ceramics are even thinner than soda-lime glass at a mere 3/16 inches thick, although they can be made in 3/4-inch thicknesses if necessary. For instance, a standard door pane of 26 by 76 inches weighs about 123 pounds of soda-lime glass while the same size of glass-ceramic glass weighs only 34 pounds. This weight reduction had the benefit of the installation process where it became easier and safer for builders.
3. Lower Environmental Impact: To create the glass-ceramics in the thin form they require less energy compared to the manufacturing of the soda-lime glass. Second, they can be made without the need to polish them or use toxic components mainly heavy metals such as arsenic or barium.
4. Customization and Flexibility: It is easy to order large sheets of glass ceramics and then cut them to the size needed on site while on the other hand, soda-lime glass must be cut and then tempered.
Conclusion
Thus, the use of soda-lime glass may be cheap at the beginning of manufacturing, but in comparison with glass ceramics extra expense on manufacturing of glass ceramics is more than compensated by their advantages. While looking for materials that should be resistant to fire, glass ceramics stand out as being a very safe choice that does not sanction performance or beauty.

Achieve Perfect Surface Prep with Glass Bead Abrasive
One of the most common options among experts for surface finishing, cleaning, or restoration is glass bead abrasive. This multipurpose, efficient blasting media is renowned for its capacity to delicately eliminate corrosion, impurities, and coatings without compromising the integrity of the underlying material. Here is a detailed examination of the special benefits and uses of glass bead abrasive.
What is Glass Bead Abrasive?
Glass bead abrasive is made from soda-lime glass that is formed into tiny, spherical beads. Unlike angular abrasives, the rounded shape of glass beads enables them to provide a soft, non-destructive surface impact. This makes glass bead abrasive an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, including surface preparation, cleaning, polishing, and even peening.
Key Benefits of Using Glass Bead Abrasive
Gentle and Non-Damaging
One of the main reasons why glass bead abrasive is widely used is its ability to clean and finish surfaces without causing damage. This media is ideal for delicate materials like aluminum, stainless steel, and even some plastics, where a gentler approach is needed to avoid pitting or scratching.
Consistent Surface Finish
Glass bead abrasive produces a uniform, satin-like finish, making it excellent for decorative applications and surface prep where consistency is key. The even distribution of impact from the round beads ensures a smooth, matte finish that can improve the aesthetic of metal or other surfaces.
Effective for Rust and Paint Removal
When dealing with rusted or painted surfaces, glass bead abrasive can be incredibly effective. It removes old coatings and rust efficiently, allowing for a clean slate in restoration projects. The gentle abrasive action minimizes the risk of altering the metal's surface, which is particularly valuable when restoring older or fragile parts.
Common Applications of Glass Bead Abrasive
Automotive Restoration
In the automotive industry, glass bead abrasive is widely used to restore metal parts without affecting their structural integrity. From engine components to aluminum wheels, glass beads can remove rust, paint, and grime, leaving a polished finish that’s ready for painting or re-coating.
Cleaning and Polishing Industrial Parts
Industries such as manufacturing and aviation rely on glass bead abrasive to clean, polish, and prep parts. This media is often used for surface preparation before coating or painting, and for polishing delicate components that require a high-quality finish.
Shot Peening for Enhanced Durability
Beyond cleaning, glass bead abrasive is also used in a process called shot peening, which involves blasting metal with glass beads to create a compressed surface layer. This process enhances the durability and fatigue resistance of metal parts, making it particularly useful for high-stress parts in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Environmental and Safety Advantages
Unlike some other abrasive materials, glass bead abrasive is environmentally friendly. It contains no free silica, making it safer for operators, and is reusable, often lasting multiple cycles in blasting operations. This reusability makes it an economical choice that reduces waste and minimizes environmental impact.
Conclusion
Glass bead abrasive is a safe and efficient way to eliminate rust, provide a smooth and clean finish, or prepare a surface for additional treatment. It is a vital equipment for applications and industries requiring superior surface preparation because of its adaptability and comprehensive yet gentle cleaning action.
