It’s Manuals Monday! Manuals Monday is back! On Mondays we feature an excerpt from a graphics standards manual from the archives.

Today’s manual is for the Urban Land Institute from 1992.

Back in 2017 we shared some brochures for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and recently we uncovered these Graphics Guidelines in the archives.

According to the proposal from Vignelli Associates, ULI is the “preeminent educational and research organization serving the real estate industry.” In 1992, Vignelli Associates proposed creating a membership kit and a promotional brochure which could later be applied to an institution-wide graphic identity.

Comparing the crowdstrike issue to Y2K crisis of all things is bonkers to me

The impact of Y2K was a couple of malfunctioning operations in some select businesses (granted, one of them was a power plant, but still)

The impact of the crowdstrike bug is so so so much bigger than that. If anything, this is exactly like a large-scale virus crisis.

This isn't another Y2K. This is MyDoom 2.0

which is almost hilarious considering crowdstrike's purpose.

obviously no need to specify what company u work for or anything but why do u need to travel so often for work! i hope ur getting compensated for this aaaaa

i’m a field merchandiser for a retail company, so I work at my home location day to day, but I travel to help other stores in my district with special projects on an as-needed basis for a few days at a time. other stores can weasel out of sending their field merch on a project on account of their store sucking so bad at the moment they absolutely need that extra body, but in general my store is the best in our district, so I’m almost always on the list lol.

I also travel to help with new store openings in my region, which is usually a hateful month long process. store planners tend to lack souls due to being on the road mon-fri every week of the year; there’s a sort of glazed look in their eyes that gets stronger every project. this makes it easy to commit wage theft on driving days <3 and yes I do get compensated for all travel work, they cover my mileage and hotel on top of of my regular wages, plus a food budget. it’s designed so that I do make a little extra when I travel to incentivize me to not quit on the spot when I start losing it in the hotel on week 3.

Game Manual

Here are some some details and pictures from the games' official manuals.

Mikado and her Shainto counterpart Kaun face off.

The manual pairs her with Jo as speed-type. The stats the ladies have are similar with the four swords, but the polearms are a different story. The Shainto spear is Jo's worst weapon, but the Narukagami naginata is Mikado's best. Mikado and Kaun have the maximum speed and power with the big pointy sticks!

Mikado's stats with each weapon, if you're curious are:

Naginata----22/22----15/15 Same as Kaun with Yari (Jo is 15 and 12)

Broadsword-15/22-----12/15 Same as Jo

Katana-------12/22-----14/15 Slower than Jo

Nodachi-----15/22-----13/15 Much weaker than Jo (18)

Longsword--10/22----14/15 Slower than Jo (Tied for the weakest Char/Weapon combo in the game.)

Notes: The lowest normal power is 10 and speed is 12. NPCs and the secret duo are above the limit. Mikado is weaker and slower than Kaun with all swords except being as fast with the katana.

In the original game, Mikado and Black Lotus (aka Kokuren, aka James, aka Highwayman) are the medium characters. Sadly, I haven't found the character stats in BB1 yet.

Also, that codename: Gate of the God's Descent. That's even cooler than my nickname for her: the Empress.

Mikado and Tatsumi face off, back when she was balance and he was speed.
