Manon being Dorian’s (soul)mate and him not realizing it:
tog “I am not married because I cannot stomach the idea of marrying someone inferior to me in mind and spirit”
koa “she would be his wife, his queen. She was already his equal, his match, his mirror in so many ways”
tog: “you marry for love, and nothing else.”
koa: “yes, he would take her as his queen. So he might never have to say farewell to this. So that this magnificent, fierce witch might remain by his side for all his days.”
Also in koa: …. “And there is only one witch who will be my queen.”
com: “he deserved someone who looked at him like that.”
eos: “Dorian again looked to Manon, who now smiled faintly at him. It was a smile that softened her face, made it come alive.”
hof: “always hiding. Was that to be his life? Not just the women he loved, but his magic, his true thoughts”
koa: “Only with her did he not need to explain. Only with her did he not need to be a king, or anything but what he was. Only with her would there be no judgment for what he’d done, who he’d failed, what he might still have to do.”
koa: “Dorian closed his eyes, and Vesta fell silent. For days, she’d sat with him when her training and scouting permitted it, watching for any of the shifting that he attempted: changing his hair, his skin, his eyes. None of it occurred”
next scene with Manon in koa: “Where that edge had dulled in his chest, his magic now flowed freer. As if it, too, had been freed from those inner restraints he’d loosened slightly last night. What he’d opened up, revealed to her. A sort of freedom, that letting go.”
koa: “Be what you wish, Cyrene had told him. Nothing. He wished to be nothing.” …. “who do you wish to be? Anyone but himself. But what he’d become.”
later in koa: “who do you wish to be?.. for a heartbeat, snow- white hair and golden eyes flashed into his mind. Happy.”
eos: Dorian nodded his thanks. “The first time you met Aelin, did you know …?” A snort. “No. Gods, no. We wanted to kill each other.” The amusement flickered. “She was … in a very dark place. We both were. But we led each other out of it. Found a way—together.”
koa: “Both of them still grieving, still broken in places, but in this new world of theirs … perhaps they might heal. Together.”
hof: “you cannot pick and choose which parts of her to love.”
koa: “what is it that you want?” You, he almost said. All of you.”

Happy Holidays! Do you have any hc about Manon learning to express her feelings with Dorian? I feel like Dorian would never press her but he would be so proud when she’s able to talk about it.
OH MY GOSH this is so soft and adorable i love
manon has a hard time expressing herself
dorian knows it
knows that after the loss of the thirteen, and the cruelties of living under the matron’s guidelines of absolute brutality, expressing her emotions is the last thing on her mind
in fact, she’s been told to suppress it all of her life
so he never pressures her to tell him anything
if she has a bad day and wants to talk about it, then great
but if she just climbs in their bed, silent, he won’t press her
he won’t beg her to tell him what’s wrong, because he knows
he understands
because, well, he feels the same
he can’t just admit when he’s upset
or tell her that he’s had a bad day
dorian doesn’t want to face his emotions most of the time
but when he does, manon’s there to listen
so he’s patient with her
and one day
after a particularly rough day
she climbs into bed and immediately curls up next to him
he wraps an arm around her and pulls her close
“want to talk about it?” he asks
her gold eyes meet his sapphire
“bad day,” she says, sighing and laying her head on his chest
“I’m here if you need me”
“I know. and thank you”
“for what?” he says
“for not pushing me. for not forcing me to talk.”
“you’ll talk when you’re ready. when you want to”
“I love you,” she whispers against him
and dorian’s taken aback
she’s never…never said those words to him
never expressed herself with more than a you’re okay, I guess sort of gesture
so he smiles a bit
happy that she’s shared this with him, after all this time
and maybe she’ll share more when she’s ready
but he won’t press, not now
so he presses a kiss to her brow before they both drift off into sleep
I love you, too

Dorian loves morning sex.
I mean, when he wakes up with Manon. We know how much the boy enjoys sleeping, but I can see her in koa trying to get up and him pulling her back to the tent so she only ends up leaving an hour later. Phantom hands involved
And he loves waking Manon up with kisses (though they don't stay soft for long) just because he knows it pisses her off. Or that's what she says. We know she loves it and hates that.
She wakes up when the sun rises and goes flying with Abraxos but always comes back to stay with Dorian until he wakes up. And when he does he makes sure his queen won't start the day unsatisfied

STOP A SECOND!!
IS IT JUST ME OR DOES "EASY" BY CAMILA CABELLO GIVE OFF SUCH MANORIAN VIBES LIKE-
"You tell me that I'm complicated, but that might be an understatement."
"You really really know me, the future and old me, all of the mazes and the madness in my mind. You really really love, you now me and you love me."
"Always thought I was hard to love till you made it seem so easy."
"Touch me 'til I find myself, in a feeling, tell me with your hands that you're never leaving."
"All I know is you, heal me when I'm broken, heal me when I'm broken. All I know is you, saved me and you know it, saved me and you know it."
Like-
I- this is literally the two of them, no?!

Just wondering, have you ever written fanficiton or will you ever write it? I liked your manorian HC of how they would fall in love and get married and wanted to know if you could write a full manorian fic
So funny story, I have actually written fanfiction before. And when I say written fanfiction, I committed myself to a trilogy of novel-sized fics on Fanfiction.net for another fandom. Part 1 was 160,000 words and Part 2 was 60,000 but then I got way too busy to continue and kinda just wrote a “this is what was supposed to happen” okay bye chapter.
AND it is because I know the work required to write full-sized fanfiction that I probably won’t write anything that substantial again.
But I have so many HC’s about Manorian that I would love to properly write something up on tumblr. I just need to (a) reread TOG so I can get everyone’s speech patterns/mannerisms right and (b) have the time to write something
So basically, I wish I could but not sure if I could commit to anything that would do Dorian and Manon justice

Manorian?
they’re one of my brotps
-since they’ve fucked, Manon and Dorian can often anticipate what the other is going to want or say or do
-it pisses everyone off.
-Dorian loves tickling Manon and no one can really understand why Manon even lets Dorian within an inch of her let alone tickle her
-Aelin tried it once and Manon almost cut her finger off.
-they stay up for hours talking.
-Manon always runs her strategic plans by Dorian, and it was Dorian who helped her make her decision about accepting her Crochan crown
-Dorian also goes to her for advice with….everything. she helps him with picking up females (and helps him try to bed Fenrys but Fenrys is hard to get). she also helps him with mourning Sorscha and his old life and always makes sure to visit him and keep him in check.
-they always call each other “Witchling” and “Princeling.”
-they consider marrying in order to ally and bind their courts. they know that they would be happy, as they love each other in the way only best friends can. but they also both know that they can’t beholden the other to living a life without any other kind of relationship.
-Blue becomes Manon’s favorite color, not because of her blood but because of a single pair of eyes.
-Dorian knows he’ll tell his children all about the golden eyes that saved his life.
send me headcanon requests!!!

Manorian Headcanon
I know some of us have been thinking about what will happen to Manon and Dorian’s relationship after the war (if they survive, obviously) taking into account that both must take charge of their duties as rulers. Here, my HC:
-After the war, both had to return to their respective nations, to rebuild their kingdoms. -The world have heard legends about them. Rumor had it that the King of Adarlan and the Witch Queen had met during the valg war. The songs said they had been lovers, and that they would be for eternity; that both monarchs were bonded by the Three-Faced Goddess. People kept on singing those songs around campfires for centuries, yet never a word was pronounced from any of the courts. No one ever confirmed the legend was true, but it was. -They kept seeing each other for years, until Dorian’s death precisely, 60 years later. -People said that day a scream of pain shook the Wastes so violently that no one dared to emit a sound. No one dared to say it out loud, but everyone knew: the old King of Adarlan was dead. -They kept meeting secretly, even when Dorian got married. It was just a night in months when Dorian arrived to the Wastes, carrying with him the wind of winter; when a Wyvern landed on that tower, the one that watched over the Avery river, with the Three-Faced Goddess keeping it from curious glares. -A Crochan Queen didn’t need a prince consort to be the father of her child and heir, not as Dorian did. He gave that to his kingdom, a rightful heir, a little boy that he loved fiercely, product of his marriage with a young lady that his council had chosen for him after years of dilation. Nevertheless, he never stopped loving that foreign queen. Not a single day. -She understood that. She was old and wise, and she knew he couldn’t abandon his duties, as neither could she. -And one day, the Crochan heir arrived. Nobody asked. Firstly, because it didn’t matter who the father of the little prince was, not being witches. Secondly, because no one dared to, and the ones who did dared, already knew the answer. That didn’t stop those songs, that everyone already sang in the campfires, from winning a new verse. It talked about a child, heir of the Crochan crown. Black-haired, something that nobody could take as proof of his father’s identity, because there were plenty of men with black hair in the Wastes. They weren’t awared of the ring of sapphire in his golden eyes, so it wasn’t the basis of the song. But the people did knew something and that was that, the day the prince arrived, the waters of all the lakes froze and in the ice figures appeared. Fine, smooth, they said the drawings told a story that wasn’t to be revealed yet. The song also said that the child was gifted with more magic than any being in the world. More than the Crochan blood could give him. A power that only had been seen once before, in possession of the only Wielder of Raw Magic alive, the King of Adarlan, Dorian Havilliard. -No one objected when the King went through the door of that cabin, lost in the mountains, the day of the Queen’s labour. No one. -She wanted a heir, but more important, she wanted a child. And she asked Dorian for that. Manon wanted him to be the father of her child even if they weren’t married and never could be, even if he had to return to that castle with his son and his rightful wife, she didn’t care. She wanted him and anyone else. -So he did. He loved her, so he did, he gave that to her, even if it would kill him not to see their child, he did. -Dorian was there, beside Manon when their child arrived. And the king cried when he saw the love of his life, that powerful, beautiful witch holding their baby. He cried because, even if he knew it would hurt, that was the greatest moment of his life. He would never regret loving that witch; he would never regret that moment when she asked him for a child and he said yes, because that baby wasn’t just the most beautiful creature he had ever seen, he was his son, and Manon’s. -They agreed it would be better for the little boy to be in the unawareness of his father identity until he was old enough to listen to the story. -Manon was besides Dorian all the way to his death, while he grew old. Even if it killed her, she never stopped visiting him. She believed he was the most beautiful old man she had ever seen. His whole hair was white that time she said it into his ear, he had laughed. Manon knew his soul, it wasn’t tired because of the time, just wiser. She couldn’t stop loving him and she couldn’t stop the fear that knocked to her door when she realized he was close to leave her. -The Witch Queen had arrived without letting no one notice, but Chaol and the few ones that had helped them to keep the secret as secretly as possible. Manon settled in Dorian’s room and spent a whole week taking care of him; just her, no one was allowed to enter into the king’s chambers. Dorian’s eyes seemed to shine in contrast with his long white hair, that Manon had braided making him laugh between his coughing fits. -A few days before dying he looked his mate in the eye and said: “you must leave, witchling. I’m about to die and I know you won’t want to let anyone else touch my body, you know it too. You can’t be here when the time arrives. Fly to the Wastes, I’ll be fine. Go for Abraxos, Manon, he will take you home. Now, go. >> Manon… I promise I will be there, waiting for you. I promise I will find you in the next world.” -Manon wasn’t there the day Dorian died, she was far away into the Oakwald forest. She let the darkness rock her, and the icy wind of winter sing her to sleep. She let the pain go away, and when she returned to her throne, she knew for sure that, when the darkness claimed her, he would be waiting for her on the other side.
. . . . . .
I had never written anything like that in English (kind of narrative) but I enjoyed it a lot (and cried a few times). I edited it like 4 times and I came to the conclusion that if I didn’t post it now, I would keep on correcting it endlessly so here we are! Don’t be afraid of telling me if you see mistakes, I learn a lot from that, so I would really appreciate it
I hope you liked it and… that. You know, manorian is too much for me. I would love to hear what you think about it!

I know you talk a lot about acotar, but I was wondering what you thought of the tog series?? Do you think one series was better written than the other? Do you prefer the ships in acotar over tog (or vice versa)?
Personally, I liked the way romance was written in tog more because it felt like it was integrated better into the plot and was more of a slow burn - understandable since it’s a longer series, but it’s why I can’t really connect as well with the acotar ships. But idk if this might be more of a personal genre preference than a writing issue since tog is YA fantasy and acotar is an adult romance.
One of the few things that bothered me with tog romance, though, was how everyone in that version of “the inner circle” was so neatly paired off by the end of the series (I wasn’t a fan of manorian or lysadeion). I think sjm probably will end with everyone coupled up in acotar, but one of the main reasons I’m rooting for elucien and gwynriel and emorie is so we have romance with characters outside of just the inner circle (e//riel would just be too ‘neat’ if you know what I mean).
Also random opinion: I wish Amren would have stayed single. There seems to be zero point to having Varian just be lurking in the background in some scenes. Amren not having a love interest would make more sense considering she’s been around thousands of years and was a mythical creature. It just seems so ooc for her to settle down. Not every character has to have a love interest, sigh. (personally I hc her as aroace)
I love Throne of Glass! I am in the middle of a reread now, I only have KoA left and I'm scared. I still haven't reread it but I wanted to by the end of this month. I think ToG was better written overall. It's not even about YA versus adult, ToG is just more cohesive and well thought-out. There is a big difference between "hm, I would like to know more about X because it's interesting" (ToG) and "hm, I would like to know more about X because it doesn't fucking make sense" (acotar).
One of the only fanfics that I ever finished was an elorcan coffee shop au, so I'm quite proud of the fact that I finished it. I also have a rowaelin college au that's long and... probably never going to be finished lol
I agree with literally all of your opinions in this ask! I am glad that manorian went their separate ways because I definitely couldn't see her committing to anyone longterm, especially when she just got the witch lands back and lost her entire family in the process. And lysaedion, UGH.
Rowaelin, along with bangel (Buffy and Angel) is probably my OTP, but I'm not sure if I'd say I like the ships in ToG more. I personally prefer them not being the emphasis the way that they are in acotar. Which is another way of saying yeah, the ships in ToG felt more natural in a way, because they were occurring while all of this other stuff was going on. We didn't need some extreme circumstances that came out of nowhere and then were tossed aside once the ship started banging (I am vaguing Nesta and alcohol right now).
I agree with you about elucien/gwynriel/emorie also. Not everyone needs to be related to or directly in power, or to stay in the Night Court. There is an entire world out there. And that's how she ended ToG, anyway! The besties went their own directions. (Speaking of, that harkens to the end of Buffy, which I know is an influence.) I'm assuming that she will make as many neat pairs as she can by the end of the book (I guess that means we could include jurassa), like she did in ToG. I don't mind that in acotar because it feels like an underlying assumption that it's way more romance-focused. But it did feel a bit forced in ToG, especially with lysaedion.
AMREN SHOULD BE ACE. It was a pretty common headcanon that she was aro/ace before acowar came out, and I know lots of people didn't like that she and Varian became a thing. I still just... can't see it.

Hope u dont mind the prompt idea but how about Dorian being the one to hold off Maeve and Erawan during the final battle at Orynth
Since I kind of put this prompt into a different fic, but also didn’t, here is quick, little fic with the original version I was going to write. Sorry anon, but this still doesn’t completely answer your prompt. Partly because I feel like Dorian already played a big role in defeating Erawan (Yrene rightly gets credit but without him, Lysandra, and Elide, it wouldn’t have happened). And I just remembered I wrote something like that already. So this really only deals with Maeve. I hope you like it! :)
*****
Dorian stared at what used to be Erawan. The black, inky stain would be a permanent reminder on the stone and his sword. The sword bothered him. The way it looked defiled and filthy. A sign of victory yes, but also an ugly mark on a beautiful object of truth. But, the truth could be ugly, he thought. Like war. Perhaps it was fitting then.
A rustle of movement sounded from behind and he turned to find Manon, bloodied, dirty, and exhausted. He glanced upwards for Abraxos, for the Thirteen, but the sky was empty. They were alone on the highest of the castle’s terraces.
She smiled, a mixture of relief and... something else he couldn’t quite decipher.
Dorian realized he’d been waiting for her to say it, and he smiled back. “Hello witchling.”
Silent, taking slow steps towards him, Manon’s expression grew darker. Not in the seductively predatory way she sometimes looked at him, just before one would give in and pull the other into an urgent kiss. This look held anger, not desire. His smile faltered.
“I’m sorry for leaving you the way I did,” he offered, unable to control the uncertainty in his voice.
“You should be,” she said. The light dancing in her eyes was not playful. Neither was her tone. Both had taken on a sheen of blackness.
The hair on the back of his neck prickled and he had the urge to reach for the collar. Instead, he gripped Damaris tighter. It had warmed when she spoke. But that only meant she was telling the truth. Of which he had no doubt. Her hawk eyed gaze and harsh words proved it.
“Where is Abraxos? Asterin?” he asked.
He caught her eyes flash to where he held the sword. “Not here,” she said with a slight grin.
Heat. He felt it clearly through his glove.
“I see you fared well in Morath.”
Accusation dripped from her lips, leaving him filled with guilt. She had every right to be angry. Why he’d expected anything else, he didn’t know. He’d hoped she’d understand.
She stopped a few feet away, and it made him wonder why he hadn’t moved. He stood anchored next to the remains of the valg king, having not taken an inch towards her. And that felt wrong. Normally, he was drawn to her. His eyes, mind, body. But now, in this moment, his body felt... repulsed.
“Does your offer still stand?” he asked. The barest hint of confusion crossed her face. “To provide me with an aerial legion?”
“I’m afraid I’ve reconsidered.” Manon took a step closer, her hand resting lightly, casually on a dagger fastened to her belt.
Forcing himself to look unconcerned, he asked, “And my offer of marriage? Have you changed your mind about that as well?”
She laughed. “My apologies, but it seems I have.”
“Well, witchling,” he said, seeing no reaction to the name. “I’m sorry too.”
A familiar boom sounded, followed by the flapping of wings and iron talons scraping the stone wall behind him. Dorian didn’t take his eyes off her though. He heard Abraxos growl, heard the true Manon dismount. When she came to stand at his side, he felt that pull that had been missing when he’d wanted to flee from Maeve in Manon’s form.
Risking a glance towards her, Dorian found Manon looking more battle worn than Maeve’s interpretation. She’d seen real battle. And survived. He almost loosed a breath of relief to see her unharmed, but he couldn’t afford to distract himself. To her credit, she showed no sign of confusion, as if she knew exactly what was happening. Dorian’s focus was threatened again as he realized how much he’d missed her.
Not needing to bother with the disguise any longer, Maeve shifted into her normal shape. “You lying, little bastard,” she snarled. “You’re going to pay for what you’ve done to me. What you’ve stolen from me.” Whip fast, she flung the dagger, aiming for his chest.
With a shield already conjured around himself and Manon, Dorian didn’t waste time wondering why she had resorted to a non-magical attack. He ducked and lunged forward, just far enough to get into range. Slashing Damaris with all his strength, he continued to spin through the stroke, coming to rest with the sword tip pointed at Maeve’s head.
Manon was next to him, Wind Cleaver at the ready. But it wasn’t until he saw her drop it to her side that he realized what had happened.
Maeve clutched her stomach, where Damaris had gutted her, where viscera and blood poured between her fingers.
He felt her magic then, sluggish and struggling to manifest. No doubt weakened by whatever attack of Aelin’s she’d managed to escape from. She was trying to heal herself, trying to shift, trying to do anything. But the blow had been too deep, too damaging. And with her world walking power destroyed, she had nowhere to go.
As she collapsed onto the freezing stone floor, he and Manon walked over to stand above her. Maeve pursed her lips and spat thick, black blood at them. Black, not red. She was no longer able to maintain any illusion of her valg essence.
“I hope Orcus finds a way through,” she said, choking back blood. “I hope he finds you and that fire breathing little bitch.” She was wracked by coughs before adding, “I hope he collars you and makes you kill everyone you love. You will rot away in misery and die alone.”
Manon, who had said nothing this entire time, radiated pure anger and raised her sword. About to bring it down in a death blow, she hesitated, looking to him. This was his kill.
Dorian’s stomach turned, though he wasn’t sure if it was from Maeve’s words or the prospect of killing her.
“Not if she can help it,” he said, looking at Manon. She held his gaze as flame pulsed from his open palm. It consumed Maeve in a white hot inferno, reducing her to ash that blew away with the breeze, just like Erawan.
With his magic well and truly expended, Dorian sagged, using his sword to keep from falling over. But Manon was there, helping him back to sit down against a wall. She knelt in front of him, looking just as exhausted as he felt. When he pulled her into his lap and wrapped his arms around her, she didn’t resist.
“Hello witchling,” he whispered into her ear.
Slowly, so slowly, she put her arms around his chest and rested her head on his shoulder.
“Hello princeling.”
The sound of her voice was like a balm, easing every ache left over from the battle. As she sank against him, letting him hug her, Dorian’s breath skipped. His heart joined in a moment later with a painful shudder as he became aware of the disquieting absence of Asterin, or any others from the Thirteen. Tightening his grasp on Manon, Dorian vowed to hold her for as long as she needed. Even if that meant a lifetime.

hc: Manon tells Dorian that she loves him for the first time (she's the first one to say it)
MARIA IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG BB
manon doesn’t usually tell anyone she loves them
not asterin
not any of the thirteen
certainly not her grandmother, who taught her cruelty all of her life
frankly she’s not even sure what love is
or what it feels like
she can recognize lust
oh, she knows that all too well
has been using it all her life to seduce–and then kill–those useless human males
but that was years ago, in a different life
she’s changed
and her time with dorian has…made her vulnerable, in a way she’s never felt before
it both terrifies her
and thrills her
whenever she sees him, her heart starts to ache
a sort of longing she’s never felt before
a need to be near him, to be close to him
to be with him, always
to protect him
she tries to push it away
every day she shoves it down, down until it’s only a whisper in her mind
but then one day they’re in Rifthold
and she happens upon him while he’s reading
and gods, he looks so peaceful
so happy
for the first time, there’s not a whisper of sadness in those sapphire eyes
and every feeling she’s shoved down, about dorian, about what she’s been feeling ever since she met him, comes crashing to the surface
she says the words without even realizing it
three simple words
“I love you”
dorian looks up from his book
right into her golden eyes
not a single bit of confusion on his face
as though…as though he’d already known
or suspected, at least
and just casually says
“I love you too, Manon Blackbeak”
and for the first time since the war, Manon smiles

do you do headcanons? if yes can I request rowaelin hcs?
Yes but you have to be more specific :) just saying “rowaelin hcs” or “manorian smut” doesn’t give me anything to work with

okay, so this is kind of random, but i listen to a lot of musicals, and like 90% of my brain is filled with ships (like manorian). the other day i was listening to the little mermaid and at that point in time the song 'she's in love' was playing, and i'm like, "wow, her sisters remind me of the thirteen and how they're gonna see manorian." and all is well and good and then flounder comes in and i'm like, "holy shit if this isn't abraxos." so now i have a little mermaid au that i had to share.
OMG. DUDE. I wrote a lengthy Manorian mermaid AU headcanon for @itach-i the other day and it got so involved I had to tell her not to share it with anyone because I low key want to make it a stand-alone epic fantasy novel (with my own characters of course). SO I AM HERE FOR MANORIAN MERMAID AUs. In my HC, Brax was a great white. 😂
