What's your thesis on

It's a game set in a post-apocalypse where the player is tasked with taking care of a farm and befriending the monsters they find on their journey!

Okay, so: I'm a gamedev student, my thesis is more of a project. What I finished is the alpha version of the game/a proof of concept. That funky thing is called XODÓ, which is a brazilian-portuguese word for something (or someone) you have a lot of affection for. You can refer to a dear friend or a beloved pet as "meu xodó" ("my xodó"), for example!

XODÓ takes place far in the future, and there's no humans around. The protagonist is a plant-creature also called Xodó. She goes by any pronouns, and used to travel on boat through a lot of different places until a storm hit her and she crashed into a strange island, full of buildings from the world pre-apocalypse! Xodó, however, isn't very interested on anything that doesn't involve fixing her boat, but she soon finds out that this task will require a lot of work, as she has to find resources and someone who can fix that thing.

I'm the main writer for the project, as well as the programmer for it! I'm not working on XODÓ alone - there's other 3 ladies with me -, and I believe we may be able to release the first main areas in about a year or so, then update the game with the rest of the map and content.

The player will be able to romance three different characters! There's also no punishment for romancing more than one at once, so you can go thro the poly route without worries;

The artstyle is inspired by the background of Puella Magi Madoka Magica;

There'll be seven NPCs if things goes as planned. I designed two of them! I have gender envy for both of them as well lmao.

If I could poorly describe the characters, it would be as follows:

If I could poorly describe the island, it would be as follows:

Tutorial on how to have a job at 10 years old;

Why are there so many bodies here;

Brazilian train stations are surpringly clean even after the apocalypse!

Totally normal island where nothing weird happened;

Disneyland but make it... Uh... Mushroom?;

WHERE'S MY FLASHLIGHT.

If I could poorly describe the game, however, it would be something like "boat fixing simulator but you have ADHD and forgot you were supposed to fix a boat in the first place".

oh they got freaky all right and i’m talkin gore, body horror, murder, torture, manmade horrors beyond your comprehension type shit like they really go through it. horrible horrible stuff went on down there

this reminds me that i don’t really have much planned out to write that actually goes into detail to what happened during that time… it was pretty chaotic and silly and fucked up. and weird. like he spent a full five years alone and isolated in his lab with the only human contact being clones of himself he would use as test subjects and experiment on. that type of thing would drive a lot of people mad! it was fucked. also if a clone got too strong from the experiments, Anton would have to kill them in fear of one day being overpowered by them. and killing an almost identical version of yourself over and over definitely did not improve his mental state. a lot of the experiments probably failed too, killing the clones in a bunch of horrible disturbing ways. especially considering that the beginning of that five years was a particularly horrible time for Anton (for reasons i can’t explain yet), so his “experiments” were messy and random and not very thought out at all. he kinda just did it because it was the only thing he knew, it was his life. he just created horrible amalgamations and manmade horrors beyond your comprehension for the heck of it, not really caring about what happened to him (he was pretty self destructive during that time too, experimenting on himself a lot as well) or the clones in the process. i’m gonna say it was so fucked up that Anton would sometimes erase some of his own memories of it as a way to cope with the pain (this was all sorta a fucked up way of coping for him too) because they were too disturbing to even think about.

anyway Basil was there of course to keep him company during that time but he didn’t let her into the lab, or really tell her anything of what he was doing down there. eventually he realized that what he was doing was not good for him or anyone else, and wasn’t making any progress on him and Pierce’s goal. so he finally got his shit together and got rid of all the clones or any traces of them, cleaned up the lab, and a few months later, that’s when he got Dew :3
