Story:

Possumpuddle was-- quite possibly-- the nicest cat ever to draw breath. 

She lived by her own code of kindness, and that didn’t change when she arrived Starclan after an exceptionally long lifetime of almost two-hundred-thirty moons.

However, Starclan was not what she thought it would be. Kits were discouraged from asking questions about what their lives would’ve been like, and-- despite the plentiful prey-- Possumpuddle couldn’t sleep knowing that the cats suffering in the Dark Forest had none.

One day, while hunting near the border, Possumpuddle saw a painfully thin calico she-cat with a mutilated face standing just beyond the border, staring at her meal hungrily.

Possumpuddle had offered the she-cat her meal, and been stunned when the she-cat asked her why she was offering.

“Because you shouldn’t need to go hungry for your sins.” She had said. “Now eat up.”

Over the moons, Possumpuddle became the one to go to for smuggling kits over the Starclan border. Cherrykit, Stagkit, Rainkit, all of them now rested at the bellies of deserving mothers.

Until one day, she was brought to trial.

On the grounds of taking cats from hell, of siding with the Dark forest.

Possumpuddle stood her ground.

“If you’re so terrified of an old she-cat, then send me to the Dark forest.” She had said. “And if you won’t send me there, then I’ll send myself. I’m tired of your better-than-thou attitude towards cats we could help.”

They sent her without another word.

Story:

She wasn’t always called ‘Mangleface’. At one point, she was Firekit.

But that was changed when an her brother, Stagkit, got hungry during Leafbare, and decided that she looked like a nice snack.

She had screamed bloody murder, and Rosedapple had shoved the other kit away, but the damage was done.

The leader--her father--Driftstar took one look at her face and renamed her Manglekit.

What a cruel joke.

When they went to gatherings, rumors spread like wildfire. She was shunned. Pregnant queens avoided her, for fear that her condition was contagious.  

By the time she was a warrior, however, all the focus was on Stagbranch, her older brother. “Oh why can’t you be more like your brother?” Elders would sigh at her. She would bite her tongue, but one day, an elder went too far. “Stagbranch is so pretty!” Tawnynose had chirped. Then she had looked at Mangleface and made a face. “A shame how you turned out.”

That did it. When she came to her senses, Tawnynose was laying at her feet, face torn off. Rosedapple, an elder now, had entered the den and paused, long enough for Mangleface to ambush her mother, snapping Rosedapple’s neck like a dry twig.

Then she moved onto her father.

Then her brother, chasing him down while yelling that he ruined her life. He feigned confusion, and she gestured to her face. So out of control, that she didn’t pay attention to what was around her.

The monster hit her so hard that she was out before her body hit the ground.
