"How can you see places like this... and have moments like this and not believe?"
Did I search for this song using the phrase "a walk to remember soundtrack"? Maybe. Is it also crazy this is technically(there's no technically but ya know) Christian music? Nope. I mean not if you've seen A Walk to Remember.

⛔️ TW: mention of anorexia and drugging❗️
Tumblr media
♡ Venus Square Mars may attract obsessive people. In particular, people who obsess over their looks or fetishize them in some way. Brooke Shields had a whole nation obsessed with her at the mere age of 12. Eugenia Cooney has infamously attracted hoards of anorexia fetishists with her content. People with this placement may have a higher risk of drastic weight loss or gain.
♡ Either I meet too many Capricorn Suns by coincidence or it's a rather common placement. One reasoning could be that April is an ideal month for marriage in many places, especially ones where it gets unbearably hot in June. Spring adds to April's allure. Traditional couples often conceive right after tying the knot, making the pregnancy due in Capricorn season.
♡ Lilith is associated with sexuality but people focus too much ONLY on that facet of it. Lilith is associated with many other things like power, revenge and how one becomes a social pariah.
♡ Planets at 0° may symbolize struggle. Lana Del Rey has Sun at 0°. The Sun represents our ego. She had many controversies in 2020 including the mesh mask and her Instagram rant undermining POC artists. Even after criticism, instead of apologizing, she remained defensive. I believe that planets at 0° provide a lot of room for growth if the individual is genuinely interested in self-improvement.
♡ Aries Moon (ruled by Mars) and Scorpio Moon (ruled by Pluto, traditionally by Mars) despite being similar are perceived quite differently by people. The sign of Aries gives child-like quality to the native. They come off as cute and their sarcastic remarks are perceived as good humor. E.g. Rihanna roasting Helena Bonham Carter's sense of fashion. Meanwhile, one eyeroll from a Scorpio Moon, and they may come off as hateful and jealous. My advice to Scorpio Moons who want to be in the public eye, please never put on the mean girl persona. Tap into your kind side, it'll be received in a positive way and you'll attract genuine support.
♡ Venus-Mars aspects symbolize beauty; the difference may lie in how people perceive it. Venus Trine Mars are often called cute. People with this aspect are well-liked and have a good reputation. These are the people who may never be cancelled due to the halo effect they have. No matter how massively popular they are, people won't be digging up dirt on them, which is also why very little is known about these people's personal lives. These people often become a household name due to that one iconic thing they did, even if they decide to adapt a lowkey presence afterwards. Let me emphasize this with an extensive list of examples:
✧ Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Zayn, Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Adele, Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Sabrina Carpenter, Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man), Kate Middleton, Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Jackie Chan, Jenna Fischer (The Office), Ana de Armas, Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and Alan Rickman (Harry Potter) have this aspect.
✧ Taeyang being the only member of former K-pop group BIGBANG who's had no controversies (also managed to keep his relationship hidden for a long time before revealing it with a wedding announcement), Khloé Kardashian being the least disliked Kardashian/Jenner sister, Cardi B admitting to drugging and robbing men, starring in Hustlers that glamorized it, hitting her career peak with WAP the very next year really drives the point home.
✧ I've also noticed this aspect in almost all Bollywood IT girls of their time: Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma, Ayesha Takia, Dia Mirza, Divya Bharti, Parveen Babi - all loved by the general public despite the media scrutiny and misogyny that prevails within the industry.

||COUNTDOWN ||SEASON 7 EPISODE 03 || DEATH BE NOT PROUD ||
#83daysofoutlander☆
THREE NIGHTS LATER, I WOKE FROM a restless sleep in an inn in Wilmington, my throat parched as the salt bacon I had eaten in the dinner stew. Sitting up to find water, I found that I was alone—the moonlight through the window shone white on the vacant pillow beside me. I found Jamie outside, behind the inn, his nightshirt a pale blotch in the darkness of the innyard. He was sitting on the ground with his back against a chopping block, arms wrapped about his knees. He didn’t speak as I came toward him, but turned his head, body shifting in a silent welcome. I sat down on the chopping block behind him, and he leaned his head back against my thigh, with a long, deep sigh. “Couldn’t sleep?” I touched him gently, smoothing back the hair from his face. He slept with it unbound, and it fell thick and wild about his shoulders, tangled from bed. “Nay, I slept,” he said quietly. His eyes were open, looking up at the great gold moon, three-quarters full over the aspens near the inn.
“I had a dream.”
“A nightmare?” He had them seldom anymore, but they did come sometimes: the bloody memories of Culloden, of futile death and slaughter; prison dreams of hunger and confinement—and sometimes, very rarely, Jack Randall returned to him in sleep, with loving cruelty. Such dreams would always drive him from his bed to walk to and fro for hours, until exhaustion cleansed him of their visions. But he had not dreamed that way since Moore’s Creek Bridge.
“No,” he said, sounding half-surprised.
“Not at all. I dreamed of her—of our lassie—and the bairns.”
My heart gave an odd little hop, the consequence of startlement and what might almost have been envy. “You dreamed about Brianna and the children? What happened?” He smiled, face tranquil and abstracted in the moonlight, as though he still saw some part of the dream before him. “It is all right,” he said. “They are safe. I saw them in a town—it seemed like Inverness, but it was different, somehow. They walked up the step of a house—Roger Mac was with them,” he added, offhand. “They knocked at the door, and a wee brown-haired woman opened to them. She laughed wi’ joy to see them, and brought them in, and they went down a hallway, wi’ strange things like bowls hanging from the ceiling. “Then they were in a room, wi’ sofas and chairs, and the room had great windows all down one wall, from the floor to the ceiling, and the afternoon sun was streaming in, setting Brianna’s hair to fire, and makin’ wee Mandy cry when it got in her eyes.” “Did . . . did any of them call the brown-haired woman by name?” I asked, my heart beating in a queer, fast way. He frowned, moonlight making a cross of light over nose and brows. “Aye, they did,” he said. “I canna just—oh, aye; Roger Mac called her Fiona.” “Did he?” I said. My hands rested on his shoulder, and my mouth was a hundred times drier than it had been when I woke up. The night was chilly, but not enough to account for the temperature of my hands. I had told Jamie any amount of things about my own time over the years of our marriage. About trains and planes and automobiles and wars and indoor plumbing. But I was nearly sure that I had never told him what the study looked like in the manse where Roger had grown up with his adoptive father. The room with the window wall, made to accommodate the Reverend’s painting hobby. The manse with its long hallway, furnished with old-fashioned light fixtures, shaped like hanging bowls. And I knew I had never told him about the Reverend’s last housekeeper, a girl with dark, curly hair, called Fiona.
“Were they happy?” I asked at last, very quietly. “Aye.
Brianna and the lad—they had some shadows to their faces, but I could see they were glad nonetheless. They all sat down to eat—Brianna and her lad close together, leaning on each other—and wee Jem stuffed his face wi’ cakes and cream.” He smiled at the picture, teeth a brief gleam in the darkness.
“Oh—at the last, just before I woke . . . wee Jem was messin’ about, picking things up and putting them down as he does. There was a . . . thing . . on the table. I couldna say what it was; I’ve never seen the like.”
He held his hands about six inches apart, frowning at them. “It was maybe this wide, and just a bit longer—something like a box, maybe, only sort of . . . humped.” “Humped?” I said, puzzled as to what this could be. “Aye, and it had a thing on top like a wee club, only wi’ a knob to each end, and the club was tied to the box wi’ a sort of black cord, curled up on itself like a piggie’s tail. Jem saw it, and he reached out his hand, and said,
‘I want to talk to Grandda.’ And then I woke.”
He leaned his head back farther, so as to look up into my face. “Would ye ken what a thing like that might be, Sassenach? It was like nothing I’ve ever seen.
”The autumn wind came rustling down from the hill, dry leaves hurrying in its wake, quick and light as the footsteps of a ghost, and I felt the hair rise on nape and forearms. “Yes, I know,” I said. “I’ve told you about them, I know.” I didn’t think, though, that I had ever described one to him, in more than general terms. I cleared my throat.
“It’s called a telephone.”

There's no chapter this week, but I wanted to post a little something. Here you have a drawing of Helena I did back in September, but I just never got around to posting it.
I was discovering my art style back then and tried a bit more realistic one connected to some pop art.
I finally decided to do her character profile ;)
It includes some Paper Hearts spoilers, because you find out all of this through out the fic (if you are caught up with chapter 23, you're perfectly fine). This is her background before the plot of Paper Hearts.
Helena's profile
Basic Information:
Name: Princess Helena Drazel
Age: 25
Birthday: November 18
Sign: Scorpio
Blood Type: AB
Love Interest: Nozel Silva (this happens through Paper Hearts...)
Birthplace: Diamond Kingdom's capital
Current Location: Clover Kingdom's capital
Affinity: Paper magic
Voice claim: Mandy Moore Rapunzel
Appearance:
Height: 167 cm
Eyes: Dark brown
Hair: Chocolate brown, wavy and usually let loose. For formal events she tends to put it up in a bun, or other fancy hairstyle. She ties in a low braid for practice.
Clothing: Helena loves simple and sophisticated clothing. She usually wears longs dresses, appropriate for her Royal status. Classical Drazel household dress i a maxi empire style one, with a low neckline and bare shoulders. It has a brown belt going below the bust. However when Helena spends her evenings in the library she likes to put on soft pants and blouses. For practice she wears a red shirt, with dark leather pants and black boots. Additionally while working as a healer she wears hospital clothes, a white blazer with blue trimmings and white pair of pants.
Personality:
Helena is a cheerful and charming person, very much a dreamer. She loves to make silly jokes, fool around and tease, when she feels comfortable. She is outspoken and knows how to behave in social situations, due to long years of court etiquette lessons. Helena is very curious and a bit nosy, which sometimes can be bothering. However it usually comes form her deep sense of caring for others, another reason for why she became a healer. She likes to gossip and know what's going on. She is stubborn, quite feisty and not afraid to speak her mind, or bite back. Sometimes she can go overboard and is not able to control her sharp tounge, ending up hurting people in the process. She is also known for her low patience and tends to take things personally. Helena is still a princess and can act spoiled from time to time.
Background:
The eldest child of the seven Royal Drazel siblings. Helena was raised in the Drazel territory in Diamond kingdom by both of her loving parents. Her mother Luciana comes from Clover Raque and used to be best friends with Acier Silva in their youth. Her father is a member of one of Diamond's Royal houses, but his relationship with the King was severed after Helena was born. The family moved to their territory and separated themselves from politics. Because of that Helena had a fairly peaceful childhood, not comprehending the terrible crimes of her country.
She studied well and was raised, and prepared to be a respectable Lady of a House. Multiple times while Luciana was sick, she would take her mother's responsibilities and fill in.
She's never travelled and stayed her whole life in the safe embrace of Drazel Territory, so she is very excited to breakaway and study in Clover.
Some romantic background as well ;)
Helena used to be in multiple relationships, but she could not make herself to treat them seriously, because she did not love any of the men she dated. They lasted very shortly and she would break up after she noticed the men getting too attached. Her mother was very upset about her commitment issues and worried about Helena being alone in the future, so she continued on sending her daughter on blind dates with nobles. Luciana ceased during so after a big fight her and Helena had a year before Paper Hearts.
Helena and Nozel actually "met" some time after she was born, when Nozel and Acier visited the Drazel Estate (He was just 4, so he can't really remember).
Small Paper Hearts spoiler (don't read if you don't want to)
An accident in her youth, made Helena dedicated to become a healer and caused her to dislike combat. Because of that she didn't develop many fighting skills. (She's pretty bad... especially for a Royal)
Trivia:
An artist, specialises in pencil art
Loves to spend time at castle's library (Drazel estate previously, now Silva library too)
Uses spanglish around people she's comfortable with
Likes semi sweet red wine and hot tea
Knows how to run an estate better than her mother
Almost always wears red (her healer's clothes unfortunately don't have it )
Knows multiple hispanic and latino dances, such as salsa, bachata, merengue and more
Doesn't know a thing about cooking :(
Helena and her year younger brother Gabriel squabble all the time
She adores kids and loves to take care of her youngest sister Cecilia, who is jut nine
Her name means "shining light"
She uses two paper made whips and fights close distance
Her Paper Mask spell allows her to make her face unrecognisable and thus blend in with the crowd
Helena would sneak out to a small town nearby the Drazel Estate to get to know some life outside the castle
She didn't travel at all, so she's never seen the sea even though her mother was raised by it
Songs that fit her (that's a fun one):
"Unwritten" Natasha Bedinfield
"Breakaway" Kelly Clarkson
2000s Shakira!!!

I don't have the citations and receipts to prove it, but I swear most creative decisions in the post-Eisner era of Disney has been fueled by the fact that their biggest rival Universal owned the rights to Wicked.
Think about the fact that they had Stephen Schwartz on Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame during the Renaissance and got him for their send up Enchanted with Idina Menzel in the cast) which like Tangled and Frozen would not be what they are without Wicked, from the stupid titling scheme to initially hiring Kristen Chenoweth as Rapunzel before replacing her with Mandy Moore and ultimately hiring Idina Menzel (again) for Elsa and deciding she ain't so bad after all and hell let's delete Kai and invent Anna the plucky contrast to her to really drive it home.
How about the fact that they bought and made a meh adaptation of Into The Woods, the original 'Kind is not Good' fairytale subversion broadway show. The okay that was a thing Maleficent movies where the king rips off her wings and Mal was misunderstood she was Briar Rose's real protector, see.
The fact that they sure love to market their villains, but boy do they not like to make new ones that aren't corrupted forces of nature that need their heart back to be good again or c.e.o.'s who gave us utopia only to find out he killing the planet oopsies or deceptive seemingly trustworthy Wizard-like authority figures who will stab you in the back in their best interest. A villain is either a twist to be subverted or is the hero you followed along, see. Something tells me the Mufasa movie is their half-apology or reasoning for why Scar is like that when the new Aladdin and Little Mermaid did shit for Jafar or Ursula but make them bland because they didn't have time to bake another uwu, babied misunderstood anti-villain so they made sure they can't chew the scenery or have too big of personalities to latch onto by children either, that be irresponsible.
Disney wants Elphaba and they're mad they don't have the special sauce that Broadway somehow wrangled out of a confusing book full of misdirection that pleased no one but the author and people who hate the Judy Garland film and would never read Frank L. Baum anyway to understand these characters are just different from that film and the shoes were not the Wicked Witch's birthright she wanted their power, it was not that deep, but so much of Maguire's decisions don't work once you account for Baum's that never accounted for the future MGM's art and costuming department, casting and script consolidations, but all Disney sees is, 'That Judy Garland movie should've been ours and fuck these people making sequels and prequels, those should've been ours.'
We see the root of this problem that existed before Eisner took over with Return to Oz under Ron Miller. As a company they've never forgiven anyone for having piece of the Oz pie. Oh, post-Eisner they swung their dick again and made that forgettable James Franco prequel, I almost forgot! A warning to Universal who guarded Wicked's movie rights for decades and the anger they have that Warner Bros. still owns the rights to the Judy Garland film while all of Baum's books are in the public domain before Eisner's lawyers could lobby with Senator Bono to extend copyright law in the 90's.
Eisner cooperated with Warner Bros. to license an Oz sequence with an advance for it's time Wicked Witch animatronic in the Great Movie Ride, in fact a majority of the films i. Thatbride came from WB's vault. Bob Iger let that ride get scrapped for Pirates of the Carribean's update for Red. You know what else Eisner didn't do that Bob Iger did? Not make a stupid Cruella prequel to explain why she's so misunderstood, just a straight live action remake of the cartoon and Jungle Book that was boring, and not a whole lot of these were as churned out in his era as there was bad sequels to the cartoons, but oops Iger's doing that too.
Real point is Wicked the musical premiered in 2003, Eisner stepped down in 2005. Eisner and his people couldn't figure out the Snow Queen as anything but a romantic comedy co-starring a villain love interest because he forgot Ariel existed as a misunderstood and manipulated hero who could have served as a template for another similar Andersen character. Under Iger's people they casted og Elphaba and decided halfway they needed to not make her a villain after all. Coincidence? I think not!

Nice Ask Week, you have been granted extremely specific time travel powers ✨✨✨you can go back in time and give another season to a show that you think was cancelled too soon.  What show are you going back to save? ✨✨✨
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. That show was so beautiful and fun and the choreography for the musical numbers was INSANE. I have loved Mandy Moore since her SYTYCD days and the things she did on that show, like the number of one-shots they did...so freaking good. The cast had amazing chemistry, there were so many Broadway greats showing up all the time, I was truly devastated when it was cancelled. Such is the fate of musical shows unfortunately. I am glad they got the movie to tie things together, but I really could have used another full season.
Thanks for asking!

My gymnastics mom friend told me I could borrow her copy of Britney’s book when she’s done with it but I won’t see her until November since class is cancelled for Halloween, well the library finally got the ebook, so I put it on hold. It says 6 weeks! We’ll see what happens first. I cannot wait to read this thing lol Britney (besides mandy Moore she is always my number one) has always been my favorite pop star (Mandy didn’t really do what Britney did as a pop star, you know, but she is absolutely amazing in her own way).

it sucks that joan had candide for a foster mom and i don't feel like the jokes that came from it were interesting, or contributed to the plot in any meaningful way? I did kind of like it when candide was happy/proud that joan was winning at the end there but i don't think that's enough for it to have been worth it. Even though I would have preferred her to have a real parent, I'll admit there was a lot of room for potential interesting interactions between them but... that was never explored so ????? ?? ????
i really was hoping that joan would go to candide for advice at one point eventually, but it never happened, and now it most likely never will! unless they pull like a mandy moore thing and just have candide live in a dumpster to be visited like a fortune teller machine

Why the Mandy Moore slander on my blog? I have learned today that this idiot spoke out against the will smith slap. She didn’t say shit about the white creeps and criminals in Hollywood. She even supported some of them. However, she felt the need to open her white feminist’s mouth about the “huge crime” of will slapping a guy who was obsessed with his wife and did horrible things over the years.
Not to mention this idiot proved that she is one of the white liberals I hate the most these past two weeks. Being a trash ass shill for a country that is currently killing and stealing land from people. Of course she doesn’t care because she’s a fucking racist and doesn’t care about brown people getting killed. But that didn’t stop her from crying over a colonizer who is taken hostage while not saying anything about the atrocities committed by that fake country! Thankful, her ass is getting dragged so much that she had to turn off her comments on that post and people are attacking her for her stupidity.
And she’s whining about not hearing a certain costume this year because of the strikes. People can’t pay their bills because of the strike but this idiot feels the need to cry over something so ridiculous. Fuck Mandy Moore!

Reese Witherspoon was also originally cast <https://movies.yahoo.com/photos/the-real-women-behind-disney-princesses-1374793062-slideshow/the-real-women-behind-disney-princesses-photo-1374793725622.html> as the voice of Merida. In the end Kelly Macdonald did the job. (Jeez, Reese.) 28. Princess Aurora had only 18 minutes of screen time and 18 lines of dialogue in the film, making her the most quiet <https://whatculture.com/film/10-classic-film-characters-didnt-much-screen-time-thought.php/4> Disney Princess. 29. After auditioning more than 150 girls for the voice of Snow White, the part serendipitously went to 20-year-old Adriana Caselotti <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_White_(Disney)>, whose father, a singing coach, was helping Disney find a fit. Adriana overheard her father’s phone conversation and began talking in the background to prove she had the right voice. She got the part. Snow White <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/snow-white-2/> 30. Belle and Ariel share the same live-action reference model, Sherri Stoner <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherri_Stoner>. 31. Pocahontas is the only Disney Princess with a tattoo <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Pocahontas_(character)>. Pocahontas Tattoo <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/pocahontas-tattoo/> 32. Jasmine actually helped influence the design <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j9qSoriRiM> of Aladdin. Earlier sketches showed him seeming much younger. But once Jasmine was designed, animators thought she wouldn’t go for someone who looked like a scruffy kid. 33. When Disney first announced <http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2009/08/dishney_the_princess_and_the_f.php> /The Princess and the Frog/, the principal character was named Madeline or Maddy for short. This upset critics, who called it a “slave name.” Disney then changed it to Tiana. Tiana <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/tiana/> 34. Merida is the only princess with brothers <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Merida>. WHAT? 35. In earlier drafts of the film, Cinderella has a pet turtle named Clarissa <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCPMnfFYS10>. 36. Mary Pickford and Betty Boop helped inspire <http://disneyprincess.wikia.com/wiki/Snow_White> Snow White’s look. 37. Disney shot the entirety of /Cinderella <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCPMnfFYS10>/ in live-action, using it as a guide for animation. 38. One thing Belle shares <https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/trivia> in common with Sleeping Beauty: Belle’s dance with the Beast was created from the same cells as Aurora’s dance with the Prince.  Apparently, the animators were running out of time.
Beauty And The Beast <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/beauty-and-the-beast-2/>
39. Belle is the second <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Belle> princess to not be of royal descent. (With Cinderella being the first.) 40. Merida is the only Disney Princess with a non-American accent. Merida <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/merida/> 41. When Snow White’s Scary Adventures <https://d23.com/a-to-z/snow-whites-adventures/> opened at Disneyland in 1955, it didn’t feature Snow White anywhere in the ride; riders were supposed to experience the ride as her. This proved confusing and she was added in an overhaul in 1983. 42. Ilene Woods, a radio singer and personality, didn’t actually know she was auditioning <https://d23.com/ilene-woods/> for the role. She recorded a couple songs for the film as demos, as a favor to the songwriters with whom she was friends. When Walt heard the recordings, he chose her over the 400 other girls who had auditioned for the role. 43. /Beauty and the Beast/ screenwriter Linda Woolverton wrote an important character detail <http://www.mouseplanet.com/8500/Linda_Woolverton_and_Belle> into the script: Belle’s “little wisp of hair that keeps falling in her face” – this showed that Belle wasn’t perfect. 44. Why is Ariel a redhead <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbBgWO3AC34>? For starters, /Splash/ had just come out, featuring Daryl Hannah as a blonde mermaid – Disney wanted to be different from this image. Second, it was easier and more pleasing to make darker shades of red (rather than darker yellows) when Ariel was in dark or shaded places. 45. Jasmine is the second-youngest princess <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Jasmine>. She’s 15, one year older than Snow White. 46. Disney’s Pocahontas is 18 in the film. In real life, Pocahontas met John Smith at a much younger age. By aging her, Roy Disney said <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoHTikVNvbU> that it made a more dramatic telling of the story. 47. Glen Keane, the creator of /Rapunzel,/ drew inspiration <http://www.philonfilm.net/2011/01/interview-glen-keane.html> for the character from his daughter, who, as a girl, always wanted to paint her bedroom walls. By the time Keane started on /Rapunzel/, his daughter had become an accomplished painter and he hired her to create the look of Rapunzel’s room. 48. Belle, the first Disney Princess with more character depth, was partly inspired <http://www.mouseplanet.com/8500/Linda_Woolverton_and_Belle> by Katharine Hepburn’s portrayal of Jo in the 1933 film version of /Little Women/.
49. Disney used Alyssa Milano’s face as part of the inspiration <http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/05/the-little-mermaid-alyssa-milano_n_3392864.html> for Ariel’s look.
50. In 2012 and 2013, the Disney Princesses were redesigned.
Disney Princesses <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/disney-princesses/>
51. Mulan’s redesign caused a significant upset <http://www.sparksummit.com/2013/04/17/bright-like-a-diamond-white-like-a-princess/> because she appeared to have her skin lightened. Similar claims were made for Pocahontas and Jasmine.
52. Merida’s hair <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Merida> is CRAZY: “Merida has more than 1,500 individually sculpted, red strands that generate about 111,700 total hairs.” Also: “If Merida’s curls were straightened, her hair would be four feet long and reach the middle of her calf.”
Merida's Hair <https://viralscape.com/disney-princess-facts/meridas-hair/>
53. Tiana’s redesign was extremely minimal <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Tiana>. Illustrators added two new strands of curls, and a print of reeds went onto her dress.
54. Belle’s physical appearance was inspired <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_(Disney)> by Judy Garland in /The Wizard of Oz/, and Julie Andrews in /The Sound of Music/.
55. Mulan and Merida are the only two Disney Princesses trained in archery <http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Merida>.
56. Ariel makes a cameo <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Pan's_Flight> in Peter Pan’s Flight in Disneyland. She can be seen hanging out in the mermaid lagoon.
57. Belle is the only person in her town to be seen wearing blue <https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/trivia>, symbolizing her position as an outsider. Later, you see the Beast wearing blue as well.
58. Cinderella is supposed to be 19 <http://disneyprincess.wikia.com/wiki/Cinderella>.
Did you know these little known Disney Princess facts? If you learned something new, don’t forget to share this with your friends below.

7 "…Baby one more time" - Britney Spears
writer Max Martin
At what point did I promise to stay seventeen for the rest of my life?
Part of the UncoolTwo50 project, marking the best singles from 1977-99.
Over the years, the honour of Biggest Thing in Pop has changed hands a lot. From David Soul to Blondie to Spandau Ballet to Culture Club to Duran Duran, to Madonna and A-ha, to Kylie and Jason to New Kids on the Block. After a short interregnum known as the Bryan Adams error, to Take That, to Boyzone, to the Spice Girls. At the end of the UncoolTwo50 period, the Biggest Thing in Pop was Britney Spears.
Tumblr media
Max Martin's precision songwriting, and his drilled approach to recording, make for meticulously crafted songs. Some call them cold and impersonal, and many of the post-Cherion imitators make music that is cold and impersonal and frankly rather dull (glares in Loreen's direction).
This didn't matter in late 1998, when "…Baby one more time" lit up America's Greatest Hits like a house on fire. (It's just over 15 minutes into the show). Britney sings with meaning, she's been through this herself - or she's a great actor. Pop vocals in the style of Mariah Carey just without the ornamentation, a beat with energy and zip, the song sounded like a surefire hit.
Only in the new year did we get to see the video.
vimeo
Britney had pushed for it to be at a school, wearing uniforms "so that the change to our street clothes would be more exciting". Blimey, the gal can dance! Searing out of Live and Kicking, setting Videostir alight, "…Baby one more time" rocketed to number one, and did something remarkable - it stayed there for a second week, something no other chart-topper had managed in months.
Life has not been kind to Britney Spears. Always dogged by attention about her body - not helped by an infamous Rolling Stone cover with a Teletubby - Britney's personal life turned from bad to worse, including drunken marriages, stoned hairdressing, and a court-ordered "conservativeship" that kept her infantilised into middle age. We can only imagine what could have happened in the wasted years.
Tumblr media
Britney had the songs, and the image, and the brand personality to remain Biggest Thing in Pop through '99 and '00. She set in train a whole host of imitators - Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, choreographer Mandy Moore. The Cherion sound went on to dominate for a few years, until it fell the way of all fashions.
Most influential song of the late 90s, worldwide? Almost certainly. Best song on that edition of America's Greatest Hits? Well, "You get what you give" came at 37 minutes, and "Doo-wop (that thing)" at 86 minutes so yes. (This may be a spoiler that I won't include Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli's "The prayer" in my top six. Deal.)
Other songs Paul Gambaccini introduced me to on the 100-song shortlist: "Kiss me", Sixpence None the Richer at 52; "The boys of summer", Don Henley in the low 60s; "Crazy in the night (barking at aeroplanes", Kim Carnes somewhere in the 80s; "I will go with you", Donna Summer also in the 80s.
And given that Gambo was only on the radio for two spells of about 20 months, that's a tremendous strike rate.

The Best Worst Movie Ever
Hi! I don't know if I'm going to spend much time here, but I thought I would announce my time by sharing with you a review I wrote WAY back in 2008 about a movie that is still so wonderfully terrible, that I try to get everyone to watch it. Flashback Review! Southland Tales
There are many levels of bad movie. There are good bad movies that you love watching because you enjoy making fun of them. There are bad bad movies that you are so mad you wasted your time and money seeing that you are offended by the thought of them. Then there’s Southland Tales. It’s the kind of bad movie that you want every single one of your friends to see so that you can all discuss the atrocity to which you’ve just subjected yourselves.
I believe the only way to truly enjoy Southland Tales is to be tripping on some pretty good acid. Even then, though, I think you might get bored after about thirty minutes and resort to watching static on television.
It’s truly not a boring movie; that’s definitely not what’s wrong with the film. It’s got nuclear war, Big Brother, political corruption, crazy drugs, time travel, and little people in SWAT gear. What bored me is that I didn’t care what the hell anyone did or didn’t do.
In 2005, a nuclear bomb was dropped on Texas. This, of course, led to World War Three. Now, three years later, the government has reinstated the draft, issued nationwide identification cards, and controls the Internet. The Republican Party has a good chance of winning the election, and there’s an extremist Marxist group that doesn’t want that to happen.
Dwayne Johnson is Boxer Santeros, an action star who’s married to Madeline Frost (Mandy Moore), the daughter of Senator Bobby Frost (Holmes Osborne) who happens to be on the Republican ticket. Senator Frost’s wife is Nana Mae Frost (Miranda Richardson) who is not only the head of the NSA (I think), but she also runs the USIdent office, a Big Brother operation that controls the Internet and every other thing going on in America.
Still with me? I’m not done yet.
So Boxer gets kidnapped and taken into the desert. Somehow, he gets back into California with a case of amnesia and has been shacking up with porn star Krista Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar). He and Krista write a screenplay that oddly emulates what’s going on in the world, and they get wrapped up in what I believe to be a conspiracy that involves the Marxist movement, a German who’s created a power station operated by ocean water (played by the hilarious Wallace Shawn), and some strange time-space continuum whatnot. Oh, and a drugged-up war veteran played by Justin Timberlake narrates.
The movie plays as if too many ideas crawled onto the page, and Richard Kelly didn’t want to let any of them go. There are scenes that actually had my attention. I thought, finally, this movie is going somewhere and getting interesting, but no. As soon as some semblance of a storyline would show itself, the film would stumble and fall right back into an immature statement about American politics and war.
Richard Kelly definitely has ideas buried in the muck that is Southland Tales. Peppering the film with news footage that looks like it was plucked directly from C-SPAN is perfect. He’s poking fun at our country’s need for sensory overload in every sense of the word. Having one of your main characters be a porn star who is trying her hand at singing, television, and her own energy drink is spectacular. But either he concentrated too much on jamming every concept in, or he didn’t let the actors in on the joke.
Mandy Moore is surprisingly interesting as the whiny senator’s daughter, but I know for a fact she can do better work. Christopher Lambert, Miranda Richardson, and hell, even John Laroquette should be ashamed of themselves. I wouldn’t think it was so sad to see them play such horrible characters if it didn’t look like they were trying so hard.
Tumblr media
Dwayne Johnson is the only one who gives a convincing performance. And it’s really only because he’s playing a confused, half-wit of a man who can’t quite figure out what his purpose might be. He does know one thing, though. He’s a pimp, and pimps don’t commit suicide.
Yeah, I don’t know what it means either, but it was the funniest damn line in the entire movie.

Character OST: Odetta Swanheart
Personal Story: "When Will My Life Begin", Mandy Moore C'mon: girl's basically a Disney princess. She steals her foster mother's wand and focus, runs away, finally gets to meet races other than human, and goes to kill a dragon. And she finally gets to wear pants!
LWS1: "Get Back Up Again", Anna Kendrick
LWS2: "Could Have Been Me", Halsey Living World Seasons 1 and 2 are basically about Odetta figuring herself out after running away from the only home she really knew and after helping to kill a dragon. For a while she wanders around and adventures on her own, but after the siege of Lion's Arch by Scarlet Briar she goes there to help with the rebuilding and falls in love with the community.
Heart of Thorns: "Come Alive", Hugh Jackman & Keala Seattle By this point she's settled into LA, she's got the soap shop, things seem to be going well for her.
LWS3: "God Help the Outcasts", Heidi Mollenhauer Odetta's not particularly religious, and she's definitely not a devotee of Balthazar- you're more likely to find her praying to Kormir or Dwayna- but the fact that one of the Six came back to Tyria and it's not for a good time is, in a word, terrifying. But what can she do?
Path of Fire: "The Next Right Thing", Kristen Bell Kasmeer is a lot of things, and well-meaning is one of them. Thinking things the whole way through, though... jury might still be out on that. Hence how Odetta received a letter from her letting her know that Vezz, as well as Garrus, had been killed by Balthazar in combat. Thankfully she finds out soon that they are both brought back and able to defeat Balthazar, but it was a harrowing time for her.
LWS4: "Speechless", Naomi Scott; "The Last Unicorn", Ninja Sex Party Odetta volunteers for the defense force to protect Lion's Arch from Palawa Joko's forces, while her new friend Sheridan watches the soap shop. She hasn't fought in an organized group since Zhaitan. She's terrified. She pushes through. Later, she gets word that Kralkatorrik has been defeated and Aurene has ascended to the role of Elder Dragon.
Icebrood Saga: "POWER", Dilja; "Iron" by Within Temptation This is when Odetta, with @ratasum's Vezz's help, goes to confront (and ultimately kill) her adoptive mother and the Duke. After seven years, she can finally and regretfully close that chapter of her life. Did she ever love Lady Jeffer? No, but she did long for that scrap of affection that she hoped might one day come and never did. Sheridan makes her favorite scones, lemon blueberry, for a week afterwards to try and make her feel better.
End of Dragons: "Into the Open Air", Julie Fowlis; "Invisible", Zara Larsson At this point she's also welcomed Leyya into her home and Odetta is, slowly, recovering from her "trip to Divinity's Reach" and everything that has happened to her friends in her guild. She helps out Vezz and Rissia with their twins, her soap shop is doing well, but knowing that the dragons are now gone from Tyria leaves Odetta feeling... hollow.
Secrets of the Obscure: "Still Here", Forts, 2WEI, Tiffany Aris A twenty-eight-year old Odetta, accompanied by Leyya, goes to Garenhoff at the request of Queen Jennah (and only because Odetta doesn't trust Countess Anise to pick someone else more xenophobic for their "alternate" human). This leads to them being trapped in Amnytas to serve the interests of Isgarren, and then getting sent into the Realm of Dreams to fight there. It would be easier to be the meek little girl she had been, but Odetta has found there's iron in her that's waiting for be forged into something more- and she's standing at the anvil, ready with a hammer.

UPDATE: I never did get around to the oil pastel landscape prompt. I couldn’t find a landscape image that worked for me, and coming up with an idea on my own would’ve turned out bad. So, the prompt goes back into the box for a later time.
For the Rhythm and 90s Art-to-Music piece, putting together a playlist was the easiest part – which is weird, since it usually takes me several attempts to create even a regular playlist because I usually get bored early or I keep changing my mind. I chose to limit it to somewhere between music I was into between 5th grade and the middle of 8th grade (that was when it became 2000, so). I’ll list the entire playlist below (though I didn’t get through all the songs). When it came to the painting, I did sketch something out, but the final product looked nothing like the concept. I kept changing my mind, repeatedly, about what I wanted it to look like. Even after I already started painting a bit, the design of the unpainted sections kept getting erased and altered numerous times.
90s Playlist (on shuffle): Strong Enough (Cher) // Lovefool (Cardigans) // Kiss Me (Sixpence None the Richer) // Never Ever (All Saints) // You Make Me Wanna … (Usher) // Do It (Spice Girls) // I Don’t Want to Wait (Paula Cole) // You’re Still the One (Shania Twain) // Torn (Natalie Imbruglia) // Wannabe (Spice Girls) // No Scrubs (TLC) // Believe (Cher) // C’Est la Vie (B*Witched) // Move Over (Spice Girls) // If You Had My Love (Jennifer Lopez) // Sex & Candy (Marcy Playground) // I Love You Always Forever (Donna Lewis) // Too Much (Spice Girls) // I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing (Aerosmith) // Cruel Summer (Ace of Base) // Heartbreak Hotel (Whitney Houston, ft. Kelly Price & Faith Evans) // Breathe (Faith Hill) // Ice Cream (Sarah McLachlan) // Baby, One More Time (Britney Spears) // Genie in a Bottle (Christina Aguilera) // Building a Mystery (Sarah McLachlan) // Colors of the Wind (Vanessa Williams) // Bitch (Meredith Brooks) // Have You Ever (Brandy) // Uninvited (Alanis Morissette) // I’ll Be (Edwin McCain) // Show Me Love (Robyn) // Honey (Mariah Carey) // The Lady is a Vamp (Spice Girls) // Who Will Save Your Soul (Jewel) // Secret Garden (Bruce Springsteen) // I’ll Be (Reba McEntire) // Unbreak My Heart (Toni Braxton) // Jumpin, Jumpin (Destiny’s Child) // MMMBop (Hanson) // All Star (Smash Mouth) // Ghetto Supastar (Pras, ft. Mya) // The Boy is Mine (Brandy & Monica) // Say You’ll Be There (Spice Girls) // Then You Look at Me (Celine Dion) // As Long As You Love Me (Backstreet Boys) // Frozen (Madonna) // Who Do you Think You Are (Spice Girls) // One Headlight (The Wallflowers) // Foolish Games (Jewel) // Say My Name (Destiny’s Child) // Viva Forever (Spice Girls) // The Way You Love Me (Faith Hill) // You Were Meant for Me (Jewel) // Stay (Lisa Loeb) // Wide Open Spaces (The Chicks [formerly Dixie Chicks]) // From This Moment On (Shania Twain) // Angel of Mine (Monica) // How Do I Live (LeAnn Rimes) // Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) // Fantasy (Mariah Carey) // You Oughta Know (Alanis Morissette) // Last Time Lover (Spice Girls) // Spice Up Your Life (Spice Girls) // Ironic (Alanis Morissette) // Don’t Speak (No Doubt) // My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion) // The Freshmen (The Verve Pipe) // Candy (Mandy Moore) // Waiting for Tonight (Jennifer Lopez) // Sometimes (Britney Spears) // Doo Wop (Lauryn Hill) // All or Nothing (Cher) // Ready to Run (The Chicks) // Always Be My Baby (Mariah Carey) // Don’t Let Go (En Vogue) // Waterfalls (TLC) // That’s the Way It Is (Celine Dion) // Someday (Mariah Carey) // Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It (Will Smith)
Tumblr media
The neon pink is meant to be the Barbie pink. Barbie was obviously a big part of my childhood, and I still remember playing with them a bit in 8th grade. Not long after that, though, my mom bedrooms, and the Barbie stuff that was in that “playroom” moved to her original bedroom (that was across the hall from my room) and I sort of stopped playing with them after that. Now, Nickelodeon was a bit part of my childhood, too, but more so between early to mid 90s. But, I think I still watched a few things during the later part of the decade. So, that is why I include the green to represent the slime and the orange bit is the Nick splat (or supposed to look like it). I was also into baby blue and it held on into the early early 2000s until all I wore was black or dull and dark colors (I wasn’t emo/goth; I was just depressed and stopped giving a shit about life). I wasn’t much into light/baby pink but it was still a thing. The sunflower against a blue background was very in during that period. I had a favorite dress in 5th grade that was this beautiful blue (lighter than the shade I used here) and it had a vibrant yellow trim that matched the flowers. Next, the pokeball. Pokémon was also very popular during that time period, and then I sort of lost interest in 8th grade and gave all my cards to my brother. Now, the pokeball is upside down here. That was an accident. I didn’t realize that, until after it was all finished, that the red goes on top. Oops. I didn’t want to rotate the canvas until the pokeball looked correct because there is a flow to this painting. The top is the top and the pokeball is upside down.
August Art Prompts
July was okay, just got a bit sidetracked.
August's main art prompt/theme is: Rhythm.
Other optional prompts:
Oil pastel landscapes. (tried this once before, so let's try it again)
2. Art-to-Music/Music-to-Art: 90s. Pick your supplies, then create a playlist (via whatever app or program you use), and let the music inspire your art. (I'm combining this with the main theme, because it fits perfectly. Though, I have a shit ton of 90s music from a variety of genres throughout the decade and they have different vibes, so I got to figure this out.)
