Dag 12: van Splügen naar Mandello del Lario(Como meer). Direct vauit het hotel, start van de 9km lange klim Splügen pass met 7% gemiddelde stijgingspercentage, en stukken van boven de 10%. Op het gemak op de kleinste versnelling in één keer naar boven gereden. Fier op mijzelf. 23 haarspeldbochten. Gewacht op Pol in de zon, die deze morgen volop scheen. Dan samen naar beneden Italië binnen, 53 haarspeldbochten, sommige zeer nauw en direktcop elkaar volgen met vele gallerijen. Zelden zo’n spectaculaire afdaliing gereden, ca 40km. In Cievenna gestopt om een samengevouwen panini met Mortadello gegeten, lekker. Dan lange tocht langs fietspad en meer, uiteindelijk langs het Como meer tot aan het hotel. Wel nog eens gestopt om een cornet ijsje met Fragola en Pistaccio bollen, heerlijk! Mooi hotel aan het meer. Italiaans gegeten met antepaste en zeevruchten gefriteerd gegeten, samen met apero en koffie 95€. Moe vzn lange dag en bijna 100 km, en morgen nog langere rit.
