I cannot, and will not ever get over the fact that Mandalorian adoption is basically a 'finders keepers' policy
#literally#its like#theres a vaguely lost looking unattended child#and mandalorians will be saying adoption vows before anyone can figure out whats happening

An interesting codywan au could be Cody’s chip breaking quickly after order 66. Not wanting to join the empire and thinking he killed Obi Wan, he’s able to find some mandalorian armor and settle on Concordia to hide out. Luckily he finds a tribe that vows to never take off their helmets and would never ask Cody to either, making for a good reason for no one to find out he’s a clone. After moving with the tribe a few times he ends up on Nevarro and adopts a foundling no one else seemed to want to take in. The kid reminded him of his brothers when they were still tubies so of course he adopted him. Years down the road he’s on tatooine with his ad’ika and the little green baby (who Cody keeps calling the kid his grand-ad’ika) they found on a job. Later on Cody and Din are led to a small hut by a young man named Luke who said he knows someone who can help them. Cody freezes seeing Obi Wan, he’s older and greyer, but his eyes shine just the same. Cody can’t help himself before he takes off his helmet, much to his sons complete confusion. Cue Cody and Obi Wan having an intense reunion, practically about to kiss each other while Luke, Din, and Grogu just stand in the corner like ???
#Cody would go by Kote as a mandalorian I promise you#and obviously this would be Dinluke as well#star wars#the mandalorian#commander cody#obi wan kenobi#codywan#the clone wars#clones#au#Star Wars au

DIN DJARIN X F!READER (BREEDING KINK)
Synopsis: The love between you and Din blossoms when he meets you at the fair in Nevarro, little by little you understand that you are the only one for each other, and now you are ready to let your love take root.
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: +18, p in v, loving sex, breeding kink
A/N: Hello beautiful people, second day, second oneshot. I confess that it was with Mandalorian that my heart started beating faster for Pedro, I think the scene in Ahsoka will test Grogu is so cute, the way Din encourages him and celebrates like a real father, I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole episode. Well, I hope you like it and comment what you think of this man in love, kisses 💜 💜
Din Djarin and Grogu, officially adopted as the Mandalorian's apprentice and son, were living peacefully in their home near the city of Nevarro. A peaceful life was not something Din had ever imagined for himself, but as time passed, he realized it was exactly what he had been searching for—what he needed.
He met you on one of his trips to the bustling city fair. Grogu, ever the mischievous child, had used the Force to snatch a meiloorun fruit from your bag. The moment Din noticed, he immediately returned it, apologizing on behalf of his son. But instead of being annoyed, you had only laughed, a warm, genuine smile gracing your lips. Kneeling to meet Grogu's curious gaze, you gently reached for the fruit in his small hands, telling him he would probably enjoy it more than you ever could.
That moment stayed with Din. It wasn’t just your kindness—it was the ease with which you treated everyone, the way you seemed to carry warmth in your very presence. Before he knew it, he found himself lingering at your stall during his weekly supply runs, listening to your stories, laughing at your sharp wit. He told himself it was nothing at first, but deep down, something unfamiliar had begun to take root in his chest, something he wasn’t sure how to name.
Months passed, filled with small moments and stolen glances. Conversations turned longer, filled with shared experiences and an unspoken understanding. Grogu, perceptive as ever, saw what Din refused to acknowledge. One day, with an innocent nudge from the little one, Din found himself stumbling over an invitation. It wasn’t anything grand—he simply mentioned going fishing, and you, without hesitation, offered to join him. One outing turned into another, and before long, the two of you had built something more than just companionship.
When Din finally found the courage to admit his feelings, he did so with the same sincerity that defined him. But before taking any step forward, he made sure you understood what it meant to love a Mandalorian. He explained the tenets of his creed, the weight of his vows, and you listened with unwavering patience. He wanted you to know everything before making a choice, and when you did, it was without hesitation.
On a warm summer night, beneath the endless stretch of the Nevarro sky, you and Din exchanged the Mandalorian oath. A vow not just of love, but of devotion, of commitment beyond words. From that night on, you were bound to one another, and love only continued to bloom between you, stronger with each passing day.
Now you were lying in bed, your bodies tangled in an affectionate embrace, Din's helmet resting on the bedside table as he placed sweet kisses on your neck, drawing soft giggles from your mouth, the adorable sound was like music to your husband's ears.
He continues his tender ministrations, his lips trailing up the column of your neck, pausing to nip gently at your earlobe before murmuring in a low, gruff voice. "You are adorable, cyar'ika. Every inch of you is a treasure."
His hands roam your curves, mapping out the dip of your waist, the flare of your hips, the soft swell of your breasts. He cups them in his large, calloused palms, thumbs brushing over the sensitive peaks until they pebble beneath his touch, the delicious sounds that escape your pretty mouth are all the reward he needed.
"I want to worship you, mesh’la. I want to show you the depth of my devotion, my love." He captures your mouth in a loving kiss, his tongue delving deep to claim you, to taste you, as his hands continue their explorations.
He breaks the kiss to blaze a trail down your body, pausing at your breasts. He takes a nipple into his mouth, suckling greedily, his hand kneading the other mound. He laves attention on your breasts until you are writhing beneath him, before continuing his descent.
“Din, love, kriffing” your adorable moans cut through the night breeze, your fingers tangling in his soft brown hair.
He hooks his fingers in the waistband of your panties, tugging them down your legs and tossing them aside. His hand finds your cunt, fingers delving between your folds to stroke your slick heat. He groans against your skin. "Kriffing, you're so wet for me, mesh'la. So ready."
He parts your thighs, settling between them, his breath hot on your core. He leans in, his tongue parting your folds, delving deep to lap at your sweetness. He strokes your clit with the flat of his tongue, circling the sensitive bundle of nerves until your hips buck off the bed.
He grips your thighs, holding you in place as he feasts on you, his tongue plunging deep, fucking into you, before suckling hard on your clit. He brings you to the brink of climax before pulling back, only to start all over again, determined to taste your release on his tongue.
"Din, oh, kriffing, by the force" you babble, the haze of pleasure not allowing you to form adequate sentences, incoherent moans are the only thing that slips from your lips.
He works you over until you are an incoherent mess, begging for him, for more. Only then does he sit back on his haunches, freeing his aching cock from the confines of his armor. He strokes himself as he watches you, taking in the sight of your pleasure, committing it to memory.
"I need to be inside you, cyar'ika. I need to feel your tight little cunt gripping my cock as I claim you, as I make you mine." He settles between your thighs, the head of his cock nudging your entrance. With a swift thrust of his hips, he sheaths himself inside you, burying himself to the hilt.
"Din." You gasp his name like it's an oath, a promise of eternal love that repeats itself every time he is inside you, loving you until your mind can no longer process anything but his love and devotion.
He starts to move, his hips rolling in a steady rhythm, his cock stroking your inner walls with each thrust. He leans down to capture your mouth, swallowing your moans, your cries of pleasure as he loves you with his body, as he seals his vow to you with each deep, powerful thrust.
He feels your legs wrap around his waist, pulling him impossibly closer, and he groans at the feeling of being so deeply sheathed inside you. He begins to thrust harder, faster, driven by the need to pleasure you.
“That's it, mesh'la. Take all of me, every inch. You feel so fucking good wrapped around my cock.” He grunts, his hips snapping forward with increasing fervor as he drives into you, the obscene sound of skin slapping against skin filling the room.
His fingers never stop their relentless circling of your clit, stroking the sensitive nub in time with his thrusts. He can feel your walls starting to flutter around him, and he knows you're close. He wants to feel you come undone beneath him, wants to watch you shatter in ecstasy.
“Come for me, cyar'ika. I want to feel your sweet little cunt gripping my cock like a warm paradise you’re” He demands, his voice rough with desire, his eyes blazing into yours as he looms over you.
He leans down, capturing your nipple in his mouth once more, biting down just hard enough to ride the line between pleasure and pain. His other hand grips your hip, holding you in place as he pounds into you, the force of his thrusts rocking the bed beneath you.
He can feel his own release approaching, his balls tightening, his cock throbbing inside you. But he holds back, determined to bring you to your peak first, to watch you come apart beneath him.
“I want to fill you up, mesh'la. I want to pump you full of my seed, to watch it leak out of your well-loved pussy.” He growls, his hips never faltering in their relentless rhythm. “I want to fill this sweet little pussy, to watch you swell with my child.”
The thought of you round with his baby, your belly heavy and ripe, sends a surge of primal desire through him. He wants to see you like that, wants to be the one to put his child inside you, to claim you in the most fundamental way.
“Come on, cyar'ika. Let me feel you. Squeeze my cock with your tight little cunt as you come on my cock.” He muttered, his fingers rubbing faster, harder, pushing you towards your climax.
He can feel you tensing, your body drawing taut like a bowstring, and with a final, hard thrust, he sends you flying over the edge. He feels your cunt clamp down around him, gripping him like a silken vise as you scream his name, your release crashing over you in waves.
With a roar of triumph, he follows you into nirvana, his cock pulsing, spurting stream after stream of his hot, thick seed deep inside you. He grinds against you, making sure every last drop is seated inside your womb, marking you, claiming you, making you his.
“Kriffing, mesh’la! Take it all, my love. Take every last fucking drop.” He growls, his hips still rocking, still stirring his seeds inside you as you both ride out the aftershocks of your intense lovemaking.
He collapses on top of you, careful not to crush you with his weight, his still cock buried deep inside your fluttering cunt, keeping his seed inside you. He pulls you into his arms, holding you close, his hands roaming your sweat-kissed skin, marveling at the way you fit against him.
“I love you, mesh'la. I love you more than anything in this world.” He murmurs, pressing a tender kiss to your lips, pouring all his devotion, all his love into the gesture. “You are mine, now and forever. My wife, my heart, my everything.”
"I love you forever, and If you meant what you said, Din, about giving me a baby," you begin softly, your soft fingers tracing the delicate lines of his face. "I would like to expand our family."
He stills, his eyes widening slightly at your words as a surge of emotion and desire crashes over him. He covers your hand with his own, bringing it to his lips to press a fervent kiss to your palm, his eyes never leaving yours.
His voice is rough with emotion when he speaks, unable to hide the depth of feeling behind his words. "Would you have my child, cyar'ika? Would you carry my seed, grow round and ripe with new life?"He asks, a note of wonder in his tone, as if he can hardly believe this blessing could be real.
“Of course, my love, I would love to carry the fruit of our love” You said affectionately, your eyes shining with an adoration that mirrored his.
He rolls his hips slowly, his still-hard cock stirring the mix of your juices inside you, a low groan escaping him at the thought of planting his baby inside you. "I would be honored to give you my child, to watch your belly swell and your body change as you nurture our offspring." He murmurs, his hand sliding down to splay across your stomach, imagining it growing heavy and full.
He captures your mouth in a devote kiss, pouring all his love and desire into the heated embrace. When he pulls back, his eyes are blazing with intensity. "I promise you, mesh'la, I will love our child as fiercely as I love you. I will teach them the Way, guide them to be strong and true." He vows, his hand still rests possessively on your belly. "And I will worship this body that will bear our baby, cherish it as the temple it will be. He promises, his voice dropping to a husky whisper."
You looked at him with eyes filled with affection and admiration. "I know you will, my love, and I love you intensely for that... You will be a wonderful father to our baby as you are to Grogu"
He starts to move again, his thrusts slow and deep, stoking the embers of your desire once more. He wants to fill you again, to ensure his seed takes root. He wants to make love to you, over and over, until your womb is flooded with his sperm.
He leans down to murmur in your ear, his breath hot against your skin. "I'm going to make love to you again and again, until my child is planted deep inside you. I want to see you glowing with new life, I want to feel our baby growing beneath my hands." He grows, his hips starting to piston faster, driving into you with renewed purpose.
He knows he will protect you, provide for you, love you fiercely and completely, no matter what. And now, he will breed you with his child, sealing his devotion to you in the most intimate way possible. "You are my heart, mesh'la. My life. And I will love you, and our child, until my last breath." He declares, his love burning bright and eternal.

Hai there, i was wondering if you could do a mandalorian x male child reader?
Can the male reader be a foundling and Mando finds us or something like that?
Like Mando is becomeing some sort of father figure?
If not, that's totally fine too!
I love your storys!!!
Din Djarin with a foundling pantoran reader
Headcanons
I can’t remember any of the Mandalorian language *scrunches up in pain*. Reader is Pantoran, cuz hehe blue and yellow tattoos.
Din would find you when he’s out on a bounty, sometime after he’s given Grogu to Luke. This means Din is still feeling extra raw and empty, lacking some purpose with his life other than just Bounty hunting, since he’s realized there’s more to life.
Imagine his surprise, when his latest bounty, some slave trader, is already down for the count when he arrives. Din quickly finds you, in all your blue skinned, yellow facial tattooed glory, glaring and barring your teeth like a wild Tooka.
In the beginning he doesn’t know what to do with you, since you end up telling him you have no one to go back too, since your parents sold you for being an affair baby. It aches in his heart to see someone so young, already so jaded by the world.
He might have already grown attached the moment he saw you, but he’s not gonna force any adoption or anything. But before either of you know it, you’ve wormed your way into his life and are living with him on his ship.
Boba and Fennec are in no way surprised when Din arrives on Tatooine with you following him like a baby duckling. They both have a good laugh when you launch yourself feet first towards an assassin though, both deciding if Din won’t take you, they will.
Because of your time as a slave, you have a hard time trusting, and Din doesn’t wanna force it. So, he gives you all the time you need to get comfortable. He definitely doesn’t start silently crying under his helmet when you fall asleep against his side for the first time.
He ends up changing up the interior of his ship so you can fit, giving you your own seat and bunk area, and making sure things you might need are in reach.
Din doesn’t realize he’s pretty much already adopted you in everything but adoption vow, until Boba points it out to him one day. Boba points out how Din has already given you a few armor pieces in durasteel and has been training you in the Mandalorian fighting styles.
Din becomes flustered and embarrassed, and mumbles something about not wanting to force it. Turns out, you don’t want to force it either because you still fear he will get rid of you like your first parents.
After some fighting, you sneaking along for bounty hunting, you almost dying because of this, and Din having to save you, you guys finally accept how much you have come to care.
Din ends up asking if you would be okay with being adopted by him, to join his small clan with Grogu, and to be his child. You tear up, and at first Din thinks it because you are so against the idea. But then you sob out a yes and cling to him, mumbling how you wanted nothing more than to have a family.
Din speaks the Mandalorian adoption vows, and he can now finally take his helmet off around you, as you are his child and that is the way.
You end up looking into the meanings of Pantoran tattoos with Boba and Fennecs help, and add to your already existing ones to show your clan and Mandalorian ways, as you are now Mandalorian.
Din takes you to meet Grogu, if you haven’t already met him, even if its just over a call or video chat. Grogu is extremely excited to have an older sibling, but also pouty that he cant go with you guys on adventures or get his own armor until he’s of age for his species.
You start getting your own armor as you get older. Its up to you if you follow the way, of never removing your helmet or not, Din just wants you to be happy and healthy and will support you either way.
If you meet Dins former clan, you always make sure to kick Paz in the ankles or the back of the knees (he’s still alive to me, idc idc), because he wronged your father in your eyes. You always end up roughhousing with Paz’s kid, the two of you beating on each other like Mandalorian kids do.
Because of your age Din slows down with his bounty hunting, and does smaller and less dangerous contracts, because he doesn’t wanna leave you without a parent. He’s definitely set up something with Boba and Fennec, that they’ll take care of you if he were to pass, just in case.
When you get older he takes you along with him, helping you become the kinda person you wanna be. If you end up wanting to be a bounty hunter, he’s the best trainer there is, and if you wanna be something completely different, he will find someone who can teach you.
Din is a tad bit overprotective, even as you grow older, its in his blood and he can’t help it. He just wants his kid to be safe and happy, and can’t bear the thought of you being hurt even though Din knows that’s just the way of the galaxy.
But no matter what, Din is a very loving father, even though he is a little awkward and tense in the beginning. He would do anything for his kid, and if you were ever in danger or kidnapped, he’s ready to destroy the entire galaxy to get you back.

FRIEND! I humbly request some OC lore should you be so inclined!
Hey there, Piña! 💛 Am I inclined? Of course I'm inclined!
Lieutenant Luvari Tulren by @nika6q
Luvari Tulren was a psychologist working for the GAR during the war. Her job was to help soldiers who have been through situations too awful for even their Kaminoan-suppresed trauma responses to deal with, like the events of Umbara. She posessed the uncanny ability to read body language, vocal inflections, and facial cues, making her an infallible lie detector able to see things others tried to keep hidden. In addition to working for the GAR in a paid capacity, she was also a volunteer pilot and flight instructor holding the rank of lieutenant in the Coruscant Home Defense Fleet.
Luvari was born on Pantora an identical twin. Both she and her sister had a genetic melanin deficiency, making their skin a much more pale blue than that of most Pantorans (something Crosshair teased her for constantly). Her sister, Venda, was a famous pop singer on Coruscant. One night, as Luvari babysat her infant nephew, her sister, niece, and brother-in-law were killed in a speeder collision. Luvari instantly lost her entire family except for tiny Bilyk, for whom she was suddenly responsible.
That was the night she met Crosshair.
She ended up at 79's trying to drink the overwhelming sadness away while flashing a blaster at everyone who approached her. Crosshair intervened and learned of her recent tragedy just before she passed out. Despite his cynical nature, he found himself feeling pity at the pathetic display and took her back to her apartment. She woke up the next morning to find that Crosshair had researched and left a list of what she would need as an instant single parent.
When the Separatists came to Coruscant, she and her platoon of volunteer pilots took to the skies in the Battle of Coruscant. But when she was ordered to hang back in reserve as she watched the clones she trained alongside fall one by one, she defied orders and led her fighters into the fray, resulting in her expulsion from the Home Fleet and the removal of her rank.
Through all of it, she was in contact with Crosshair. He became a trusted friend, visiting her when on Coruscant and genuinely enjoying her company. Not wanting to risk their friendship, they both hid the fact that their feelings for each other had deepened. Eventually, they confessed to each other how they felt, exchanging simple Mandalorian marriage and adoption vows as they and Bilyk became a family of three.
Though this scene by @apocalyp-tech-a didn't technically happen, Luvari and Crosshair shared several Pantoran noodle dishes in the story.
Things went downhill from there. That was the last night Luvari saw him before Order 66. The next day, she was forced by the new Empire to sit in on interrogations and use her skills to determine if the people being detained were Jedi sympathizers. When one of them was executed right in front of her, she ran and subsequently became wanted for treason.
She ran into another woman wanted by the Empire that night as she snuck onto a docking platform to steal a ship and escape the planet. She didn't find out until after they left the planet together that the woman was engaged to Tech—Dr. Miran Threst. She also learned that the night she married Crosshair, she also became pregnant. Running from the Empire with a baby in tow and one on the way while thinking your husband had become an unwilling pawn of the Empire was a lot to deal with, but Miran helped her through all of it and became a sister to her, first unofficially then officially as they altered the Mandalorian vow of adoption to adopt each other as sisters.
Luvari and Bilyk by @toucheholland23
Luvari and Miran traveled the galaxy together for months as they created and executed a plan to render the clones' chips inoperable. When Luvari became too pregnant to safely continue their endeavor, Miran brought her to her home on Alderaan to settle down for a while and give birth. The Batch found them there while looking for Miran, none of them knowing that Luvari was with her. A few days later, with Crosshair by her side, Luvari gave birth to a tiny blue baby with silver-gray hair and eyes the exact color as his father's.
The story is not yet over, though I've put this longest of long fics on hold while working on other projects. The story begins on AO3 in A Sniper Walks into a Bar if you want to give it a read. 💙
This lovely portrait of Luvari by @returnofthepineapple was a surprise following the answering of the above ask!

Hi! Hope your August is off to a good start. Could I send a prompt for Talk Shop Tuesday?
Feel free to ignore the prompt if not!
Some or Several of the trainers look at the babies with their alor's face that said alor wants them to train for a war and go "we think the fuck not.
@somestorythoughts Sorry I did not answer yesterday, it took me a bit to get my thoughts in order for this.
Look there is never a bad time for me to receive a prompt, a question, or a random message. It brings me great joy.
Now For the Prompt:
Some or Several of the trainers look at the babies with their alor's face that said alor wants them to train for a war and go "we think the fuck not.
My first thought, before anything, is that Mij is the ringleader. There is no doubt that the medics would be the ones to spearhead this and Mij, of all of them, best remembers both Jaster and little Jango.
I also think that the medics do not really know what the babies are really there for at first. If we think about the Psychology of Jango Fett- Orphaned twice over, a leader too early, the death of his people (that he 100% will not face is partly his own fault-as he shot first) and his own enslavement, semi forced addiction to Spice from the aforementioned enslavement. While none of these things makes Jango evil, they do make him a bit broken. I do believe that in this one he is lying to everyone.
He is telling the Kaminoans that he is training what will be the GAR (it does not matter if they know the full plot or not, Jango thinks they don’t). He is telling Dooku that he is honing the clones into a weakness for the republic and a wake up call for the Jedi while knowing Sidious’s actual plan for the clones. Of the trainers, he is telling some that the clones will be a trap for the Jedi, others that they will be getting some enormous payment, while telling still others (like Mij) that he is planning to steal the clones to rebuild the True Mandalorians, assuring the interested groups that he is working for the best of Mandalore.
Most of all Jango is telling himself that he has not become worse than any of the crimes committed against him.
It is all lies.
For the first year, this house of cards remains standing. Jango has convinced most of the groups he is lying to that he is lying to everyone but them. Not that all of them care, but some do.
It is such a small thing, in the grand scheme of things, that tips Mij off. Jango has managed to explain away the numbers (to give the clones a chance to name themselves), the lack of armor (that much armor is expensive), and other such discrepancies as necessities for ‘tricking’ their employer.
It starts with a single look. A microexpression when Mij asks Jango to hold the toddler A-17 during a routine check. Disgust. It stuck in Mij’s mind all the harder, as he had just witnessed Jango with Boba not 10 minutes prior.
Mij started to, discreetly, poke around. It takes him all of a week to find the chips. The slave chips embedded in the heads of babies. The babies with Jango’s face and slave chips in their heads.
Mij has made an error. Mij.exe is also experiencing an error.
Everything is an error.
Now Mij has a choice, and both those choices involve breaking a vow he swore so many years ago to Jaster Mereel, and later to Jango Fett. He could choose ignorance, and follow his Alor, convince himself there is a good reason for what he is seeing; pretend that there is any good reason for slave chips. And thus dooming untold children, untold babies, breaking his moral code irrevocably. Or he could choose the babies, could undermine his Alor, betray the trust that Jango had in him. Be one more person to abandon Jango, the boy that Jaster had adopted and loved.
The choice was not an easy one, and it hurt. It hurt worse at how careful he had to be, gathering allies. The remnants of the True Mandalorians were bound by trauma and shared hell. It was excruciating, having to keep secrets, but Mij knew that not everyone would make the choice he had. Not everyone would choose the babies. He could not begrudge them, but he could not trust them either.
It took another month of wrestling with their choices before Mij and his allies, 14 other former True Mandalorians, came to a decision. There were not enough of them to wrest control of Kamino, not enough to take the 10s of thousands of babies away and keep them safe. They debated going to the Jedi, having realized that the Jedi ordering the Clones was just another lie, but the Jedi were bound to the Republic. They could not protect or free the babies.
There is only one group that could, politically, if not physically. One that Mij did not want to go anywhere near. Knew that he would have to give up what made him Mandalorian; that he would have to give up the Mandalore Jaster Mereel had envisioned. By the end of the month, all 15 were in agreement that there was no other way.
Though it took time, and careful planning, Mij makes sure to be holding a now toddler A17 when his call finally connects to Satine Kryze. He can feel her gaze slip to the baby in his arms as he pleads his case to the Duchess of the New Mandalorians. As he agrees to whatever hoops she wants them to jump through, if it would mean that the children are safe and loved.
His Ancestors who marched ahead would be angry that he would give up their culture, but they would despise him for abandoning the babies to their fate.

Ok so continuing on from this slightly bonkers ramble, I give you: More Spur-Of-The-Moment Thoughts About The Bo And The Blueberry AU.
(for clarity, i'm splitting this up into rebels-era and mandoverse-era..)
rebels-era:
Due to the bad experiences he'd been through on the streets, Ezra was nonverbal for a long time. During his stay on Krownest, he would spend hours painting with Alrich and Sabine, because it made him feel heard even if he couldn't find the words to speak.
Bo-Katan said the adoption vows to Ezra on an impulse. She had just told him that she hadn't been able to save his parents, and he had started to cry. She had never thought of adopting him as her own son, but she changed her mind in that moment and never looked back.
Korkie and Ezra are cousins, but Korkie is honestly closer to an older-brother figure to him. Korkie was very interested in the Jedi when he was young, so he has the knowledge to help teach Ezra about the Force, and how to control and hide his powers. (When Ezra eventually gets the Darksaber, Korkie is his second-most vocal supporter. Bo-Katan is the only one who has him beat.)
When Ezra is about eight, Bo-Katan decides he does need some Jedi training, more than she and Korkie can provide, and sets out to find herself a Jedi who can teach this kid. She ends up on Gorse just in time to plummet headfirst into the plot of A New Dawn. Kanan, upon finding out what she wants, refuses to train Ezra. Bo-Katan is not so easily deterred. She makes a game out of finding Kanan and Hera, helping out on a mission, and then delicately pointing out just how many times she's saved their butts and they really owe her one and yknow Ezra could really use some Jedi lessons...
When Ezra is ten, Maul kidnaps him. Bo-Katan seeks out Kanan again--she knows she can't stop Maul on her own.
In this AU, Kanan defeats Maul, but Bo-Katan is the one to strike the killing blow. She may not be a Jedi, she may not have the Force, but she's a Mandalorian mom. Nobody hurts her boy and lives to tell the tale.
After his kidnapping, Ezra struggles with the Dark side, which gives Kanan the final push he needs to train Ezra. Ezra's recovery is difficult, but he pulls through and is brighter than ever.
Due to Kanan and Ezra training together, connections begin to form between the Mandalorian Resistance and the outside rebellion. By the time Ezra is a teenager, the two groups are cooperating fully.
Bo-Katan knows who Fulcrum is--she recognized the symbol as Ahsoka's face-marking.
Ezra built his first lightsaber with a kyber crystal he found in the Living Waters.
Ezra is much healthier, due to not having to scavenge for his food for most of his childhood. He hit a growth spurt when he was thirteen, shortly before he went to the Imperial Academy and reunited with Sabine. She says she's taller. He says they're the same height. They refuse to measure themselves together and settle it because they're both secretly afraid they're wrong. This is an ongoing argument for the next ten years.
Ezra and Sabine were both really surprised to meet each other at the Academy. I have a funny mental image in my head of them both taking off their helmets at the same time, doing a double take, and then just *spider-man pointing meme* "YOU!"
He was worried for a while that she would turn him in, either as a Force-sensitive or as a spy, but she eventually gave him a vaguely-worded hint that she was keeping his secrets for him.
Sabine still has a big falling-out with her family, but this time, since the Duchess was never used, it's more about the machine's creation itself (and Sabine's decision to run away to the Imperial Academy.) She ends up joining the Spectres for a little while before Hera convinces her to reconcile with her mother. Afterwards, Sabine (and her family) end up joining in with the Mandalorian Resisance.
Korkie, Ezra, Sabine, and Tristan earn the title of Gremlin Squad. Leia is an honorary member as well. Korkie is a lot older than them, but he has enough chaos energy to fit right in.
Ezra and Sabine spend about a year apart during their late teens. By the time they meet again, Ezra has started pulling his hair back. Sabine thanks the Force that she managed to handle the reunion normally because for the first minute and a half there was nothing in her brain except oh no ponytail hot
Thrawn is still purgilled, but since Ezra is a Mandalorian and has a jetpack, he's able to fly out of the window and doesn't get yoinked into the unknown with Thrawn.
mandoverse-era:
So, Mandoverse events take place about five years sooner than in canon. this is solely for the purpose of giving ezra a Chaotic 23 Year Old Who May Not Have His Life Figured Out But By Golly He Has A Laser Sword vibe.
(I've figured some more stuff out, so bear with me because I've changed up the part about Din's introduction from what I said yesterday.)
Luke has also become an honorary member of the Gremlin Squad at this point. He and Ezra met up and discussed their Jedi training. Ezra meets Ben Solo at some point too. He recognizes in the child the same Dark influences that Ezra himself went through after Maul took him, and helps the boy pull through. Ben never Falls, thus averting the events of the sequel trilogy. Luke is secretly a little jealous that Ben thinks his honorary uncle Ezra is cooler than his actual uncle Luke, to which Ezra says, "Aliit ori'shya tal'din."
With Luke's help, the Gremlin Squad becomes the Official Jedi Search-And-Rescue Club. They go looking for more Jedi survivors and invite them to Luke's Jedi school on Mandalore. (Cal and Merrin are some of the first to show up.)
This search for Jedi ends up leading Ezra and Tristan to the planet Arvala-7... mere days after Din Djarin has already retrieved Grogu (AKA the Jedi they were looking for.)
(Din is there early because Moff Gideon's inability to take over Mandalore has moved up the timeline on some other events.)
(Also, Moff Gideon still has the Darksaber, but in this AU, he didn't get it from Bo-Katan, since Bo never got it from Sabine, because Sabine never went to Dathomir, because the events of Visions and Voices never happened. Instead, Gideon got it from Morgan Elsbeth, who took it from Maul's creepy cave and passed it on to him so he could. like. flex on the mandalorians or something idk.)
Ezra and Tristan track Din, because they're worried about Grogu. They constantly follow him for, like, basically 1 1/2 seasons of The Mandalorian. They're always just slightly behind and keep showing up a tiny bit too late to get mixed up in Plot Events.
When Bo-Katan offers to bring Din and Grogu to her Jedi Mandalorian son, Din is not expecting to see one of the two Mandalorians who have been following him constantly. The misunderstanding takes a bit of explaining to clear up.
Oh yeah also. Ezra's response to Bo telling him that she insulted Din to his face when they first met was "Oh, so you're into him?" It was a joke, but the more he saw of the two of them together, the more he started to wonder if there might actually be something there.
When Grogu gets kidnapped, the (official) members of the Gremlin Squad join in the rescue.
After winning the Darksaber and reluctantly agreeing to be Mand'alor, Ezra decides not to live in the palace in Sundari. Mandalore is a dead planet, and a Jedi needs to live with the living. He sets up as Mand'alor on Kalevala, under Bo-Katan's guidance.
Sabine is Ezra's official advisor and Korkie is his PR guy, but Korkie is the one with actual good advice and Sabine is kind of a miracle worker for PR (when she tries. which is not often.) Bo points out that it would make sense to switch their titles, but Ezra thrives on chaos and so he refuses.
Ezra refuses to sit on his Mand'alor Throne in any remotely normal or dignified way. He slouches. He lounges. He sprawls. He sits upside-down. He does one-handed handstands. He and Korkie and Tristan all squeeze together and sit on the throne in identical sets of armor to mess with people. Ezra's Throne Antics are a source of constant exasperation for Bo.
Speaking of the throne, Sabine has claimed the armrest as her official Mand'alor Advisor seat. She thinks sitting there makes her look cool. and yknow what? She's right. It does make her look cool.
Oh yeah, also, nobody knows that Sabine is Ezra's advisor. She wears a plain set of armor, keeps her helmet on, and goes by an alias. This disguise is supposedly for security purposes, but it's actually to keep herself out of the gossip holomagazines. She gets enough attention just as acquaintances with Ezra... imagine what would happen if the press found out she was the one lounging on the armrest of his Mand'alor Throne!
Sabine is also Ezra's bodyguard. She volunteered enthusiastically and kind of begged for the position. Sabine takes a maniacal delight in ferreting out assassination attempts and turning the hunters into the hunted, so to speak. It's like if Kevin McCallister was homicidal.
The first time a Mandalorian clan leader proposes marriage to Ezra, Tristan laughs so hard he falls out of his chair.
----
I have to leave for work now, but I'll probably ramble some more tonight!

Naz'erli Nythan, the man who taught me it's really really hard to convincingly roleplay a serious smuggler in this game. Unlike most of my characters, he's largely untouched by the class story he goes through - most of his brainpower is spent wondering why the hell he keeps ending up on the same planet as his ex, the Republic soldier Amiliun.
Naz'erli (only one person gets to call him Naz, and that's his husband who still hasn't given him divorce papers) grew up in the Empire, not that he'd ever tell anyone that if he could help it. Childhood friends with Amiliun and his sister Relmeva, he knows a little about Mandalorians and a lot about wishing to be anywhere else. He got his ship so he could fly himself and Ams away, shortly after they got married. Then Ams revealed he'd signed on with the Republic Army, and Naz'erli was left alone with a ship and a marriage that neither one of them had the heart to actually end.
He spends most of his time really just going through the motions. Working with Risha is just a thing he can do. Working for the Republic is that, too, or at least that's what he tells people. Secretly, he hopes that his efforts can help protect his husband in some way, but he'd never say that to anyone. Aloof and unsmiling, Naz'erli is never rude but also never warm. He'd prefer to be left alone, or so he says, but he can't bring himself to kick any of his crew off his ship. It was meant to be a family thing, after all. He takes what he can get.
It's Amiliun's sister Relmeva's fault he and Amiliun eventually reconcile, as she stayed in touch with both of them in spite of technically working for the enemy. Helping her got them both to work toward the same goal again, something their many crossed paths across the galaxy couldn't do. After a lot of conversation, they patch things over and start again, with a symbolic exchange of new vows and everything. (Then their adopted son turns out to be Force-sensitive and Naz'erli is terrified enough of the Sith to send him to the Jedi, but that's a whole other can of worms.)

The Cuy’val Dar
Following on from my Jango post, I want to talk about the Cuy’val Dar.
The same warning as that post applies. This is largely my speculations based on canon, but not actually canon.
A note about Legends canon: Unless it is directly contradicted by the current canon, I choose to include Legends canon as canon.
So, the Cuy’val Dar (Mando’a meaning those who are lost) are the trainers Jango recruited to train the clones on Kamino. There were one hundred of these trainers, and seventy five of those one hundred were Mandalorians. The other twenty five were probably bounty hunters and general mercenaries.
Of the seventy five Mandos, we only know the names of 12 of them. Two, Isabet Reau and Dred Priest, were Death Watch sympathizers if not full on members. The other 10 have no stated allegiance but it’s my speculation that at least some of them were True Mandalorians under Jaster and Jango.
There are two whom I am almost certain were True Mandalorians. Kal Skirata is said to have known Jango for years, so he was obviously at least affiliated with the True Mandalorians. He was found by his adopted father, Munin Skirata, when Munin was on a mission with a group of mercenaries. My guess is those mercenaries were Jaster’s people, and possibly even included Jaster himself.
Rav Bralor was a close friend and comrade in arms of Kal Skirata’s long before Kamino, so obviously if he is a True Mandalorian, it stands to reason that she must have been one too.
There are two others who are potentially True Mandalorians. Llats Ward isn’t stated to have any particular affiliation but his chest plate has a whacking great mythosaur skull on it, which is the sigil of the True Mandalorians. Of course, it’s also just a generally important symbol in Mando culture, so Llats could have it on his armour for entirely different reasons.
Miij Gilmar, the trainer of the clone medics, wasn’t born a Mando but became one after he married a Mandalorian woman. She was murdered, unfortunately and he vowed revenge. It’s noted that he had a deep hatred for the death watch allied Dred Priest and Isabet Reau. My speculation is that his wife was killed by Death Watch and he may have joined (or already have been part of) the True Mandos to avenge her.
There is one more trainer I want to discuss in detail. His name is Cort Davin, and he was a Journeyman Protector on Concord Dawn. Obviously this is the same profession as Jaster and Fett Sr, so this suggests he may have been a colleague of theirs. It does seem that he stayed in the Journeyman Protectors until he was recruited into the Cuy’val Dar, so I don’t think he was a proper member of the True Mandos, but he could have been their ally.
We know virtually nothing of the remaining five named Mandos of the Cuy’val Dar, B’arin Apma, Swart Swifto, Wad’e Tayhaai, Vhonte Tervho and Walon Vau. I have no idea if any of these people were True Mandalorians. It’s possible.
A side tangent about Wad’e Tay’haai: one of the few things I could find about him is that his preferred weapons were a traditional Mando spear and a bes’bav. A bes’bav is a Mandalorian flute that doubles as a stabbing weapon. Of course the Mandos have a musical instrument that is also a weapon. Of course they do. It makes me wonder how many other musical weapons exist in Mando culture. And how many other things Mandos have made into weapons. Many, many things probably.
Anyways, this brings me onto the point of this post: why would any True Mandalorians would agree to train the clones despite it going against their well established code of protection over children? And how did Jango feel about these people that were once his?
It’s my personal speculation that any True Mandalorians that joined the Cuy’val Dar on Kamino did so for a number of reasons. The New Mandalorian pacifists were in charge on Mandalore, so anyone wishing to keep their culture couldn’t stay there. I can’t imagine that Mandalorians are welcomed in many places in the galaxy, so it’s possible some of them joined because it guaranteed a place to live and a source of income and food.
Some might have joined out of loyalty to Jango. Perhaps they thought he wouldn’t allow the clones to be treated badly and by the time it became apparent that he would, they couldn’t back out. Perhaps they wanted to help him and therefore help the clones.
I doubt any of them were actually told what they were being recruited for. It was a secret, after all, and I don’t think telling a bunch of Mandalorians ‘there’s a facility where they’re cloning children to be trained as child soldiers for a war in which they’re likely to die’ would go well.
Honestly, I just find the Cuy’val Dar quite interesting. Who are these people? Why did they agree to come to Kamino? What did they feel about the clones?

Tell me about the garden!!!
Oh this is gonna be a doozy
okay so
This is my Force Healer!Kix and Obi-Wan Kenobi Clone Wars AU in which Kix ends up finding out he’s force sensitive, and near the beginning of s4 ends up helping Obi-Wan out - through Anakin’s request - of the aftermath of dealing with the Sith Temple and Holocron from Zigoola. That’s what starts their bond and leads Obi-Wan to formally adopting him as his son through the Mandalorian vows so Kix does not get decommissioned by the Kaminoans.
The Garden itself is the Jedi Temple Gardens, which is used as imagery throughout all the darker points of the fic (there’s ALOT of trauma in here lol) as an anchor point to grasp onto when seeking out something to be joyful over or a happy thing to help in dark times.

Jango Fett and Walon Vau: Galidraan and its consequences
For @delkios, sorry it took me so long to finish this part!
Previous parts: Age Difference & Childhood Trauma & < The Laws, Orders, Jaster Mereel and True Mandalorians (pre-Galidraan)>
With no doubt, Galidraan is the breaking point, both in the history of True Mandalorians and the personal relationship between Jango Fett and Walon Vau.
The Mandalorians under Jango’s leadership spent 8 years looking for Death Watch and their search led them to Galidraan. Hired by the governor of the planet, Mandalorians suppressed the insurrection
[source - Jango Fett: Open Seasons, issue #3]
and in return Jango demanded the location of his enemy, Tor Vizsla,
[source - Jango Fett: Open Seasons, issue #3]
but as it turned out, Fett and his people walked into a trap. Governor of Galidraan worked for Vizsla and on the man’s order, begged the Jedi Order to aid him against True Mandalorians under false accusation.
[source - Jango Fett: Open Seasons, issue #3]
When the Jedi approached Fett’s men, Jango ordered an attack that finally led to massacre. Fett was the sole Mandalorian survivor and after being turned over to governor, he was sold in slavery at the age of 22. He spent a few years as a slave until a pirate attack gave Jango an opportunity to free himself, then came back to Galidraan to retrieve usurped armor. Soon after that he found and killed Tor Vizsla. Instead of coming back to Mandalorians, he decided to go into bounty hunting.
As was mentioned in the previous part, various people, with emphasis on Jango’s own men, did not have a good opinion about Fett. He was called “a disgrace”, “unhinged”, “self-centered” and "selfish" among other things, while sources presented him in general as a loner. Of course, years spent on Kamino and creation of clone army did affect Mandalorians’ memory of Jango however as tie-in material says, despite the reputation of selfish loner, Jango in fact considered True Mandalorians as his adoptive family and death of his comrades affected him deeply.
Fact Files, issue 22

“Forgotten amongst the carnage was the young man who had arrived a stranger, but now carried with him the remnants of a group he had come to call his own. Jango was turned over to the people of Galidraan, who made him a slave. He eventually escaped, retaining the helmet and armor that he proudly worn when fought alongside his peers. He had been robbed of a family for a second time - from now on the bounty hunter’s mission would be one of self-preservation.”
Fact Files vol. 3, issue 14

“His vow of revenge fulfilled, bereft of family and purpose and with little else calling on him, Jango traded on his considerable martial skills and became a bounty hunter. [...] Bounty hunting was not enough, however, to fill the empty hole in his life.”
And the most telling itself evidence is the fact that Jango Fett took part in Darth Sidious and Darth Tyrannus’ plan to destroy Jedi Order with army cloned from his own DNA:
Jango Fett: Open Seasons, issue #4
Dooku: [...] I have no doubt that your clones will be the most formidable soldiers the galaxy has ever known. In time, they will be instrumental in the destruction of the Jedi. Jango: That's what I'm counting on... [...]
Republic Commando: Order 66
Vau straightened up. "You never liked Jango, did you?" "I liked him enough. What I didn't like was how he ended up. Jango never gave a toss about anyone but himself. Some Mandalore he turned out to be-he was always away in the latter years, and he was as bad as the Jedi when it came to turning a blind eye to what was happening to his clones. No, Shysa's a fool if he thinks a Fett dynasty is good for Manda'yaim. We're better off without him." "You reckon?" "I do. Sorry, but I do. You suddenly his best mate or something?" Vau suddenly grabbed Skirata by the collar. Shab, he was strong; he almost lifted Skirata bodily as he shoved him against the bulkhead. They'd brawled many times, drawn blood, come close to killing each other, but Skirata had never seen Vau lose his temper, not once. And that was enough to stun him into silence. "Now do you see? Do you?" Vau hissed the sibilant like escaping steam. Mird cowered on the floor, whining softly. "I'm sick to death of your sentimental twaddle about Jango betraying us by letting Kamino use his genes. He did it to stop the Jedi. He did it to create an army strong enough to bring them down. You drone on about the injustice of unelected elites, my little working-class hero-well, now they're gone. Yes, it cost our boys' lives, but the Jedi are gone, gone, gone. And they won't be killing Mandalorians again, not for a long time. Maybe never."
Additional Commentary: The same as for fallen True Mandalorians, Jango’s dedication to Jaster Mereel was not subdued with passing time:
Bounty Hunter game (2002)
Rozatta: "Ugh! I can't believe you're still flying that relic, Jango. Why don't you spend some of your hard-earned cash on a new ship?" Jango Fett: "Not a chance. She belonged to Jaster Mereel." Rozatta: "I know, I know, the Mandalorian soldier who took you under his wing. You ever think maybe you hang on to that ship—those memories—because you're looking for someone to take under your own wing?"
Jango Fett: Open Seasons, issue 4
Side note: Jango’s loyalty to Jaster Mereel was unshaken by years though it seems the desire to have an apprentice to pass Jaster’s legacy changed over time into a true sense of fatherhood - a fatherhood affected by Jango’s own trauma.
Attack of the Clones novelization by R. A. Salvatore
Other than that, though, this was just a job, well paying and easy enough. Financially, he couldn’t have asked for more, but more important, only the Kaminoans could have given him Boba-not just a son, but an exact replica. Boba would give Jango the pleasure of seeing all that he might have become had he grown up with a loving and caring father, a mentor who cared enough to criticize, to force him to perfection. He was as good as it got concerning bounty hunters, concerning warriors, but he had no doubt that Boba, bred and trained for perfection, would far outshine him to become one of the greatest warriors the galaxy had ever known.
Despite Jango’s selfishness and lone nature, I think we may all agree losing his men on Galidraan is what ultimately defined his adult life.
Now, let’s look at Walon Vau. There is no hard evidence why the Mandalorian did not take a part in Galidraan mission - my current theory, explained in previous part, is the possibility that Jango bent or even broke the moral principles of the previous leader in his quest of avenging Jaster Mereel’s death, a line that Vau refused to cross himself. Whether my theory is true or not, Walon didn’t show up on Galidraan, what saved his life, but he regretted that choice.
Republic Commando: Order 66
Vau didn’t meet Skirata’s eyes for a moment, but he glanced at Jusik. “I could have been at Galidraan, but I wasn’t, and I never forgot that. Not my fight. Should have been my fight.” “And you could have been dead, now, too. Bard'ika, if you don’t know-”
and
Vau shrugged. “I let him down once.” Vau would never shake off that feeling of having failed, the legacy of his vile father. He’d instilled it into his clones, despite himself. “But I never let him down again.”
The most interesting thing about Walon’s choice of words - the not my fight - is how he said a similar statement in next part of the series, the Imperial Commando: 501st, whose action takes place after Order 66 and Jedi Purge and the Mandalorian characters are forced to choose between helping Jedi survivors or not:
"They say half of his followers aren't even Force-sensitives," Jusik said. "And apparently thousands of Padawans trained at his academy-based onboard a ship. If he was really into power, we'd know all about it by now." "No wonder he got away," Skirata said. "Keep moving. Smart shabuir." "Are you taking any of this in?" Vau snapped. "Have you completely forgotten the last three years? The whole point of the war? Not Palpatine's war. Jango's war." Vau turned and stabbed a finger in Ordo's direction. "Why do you think he was created? To fill some emotional void in your sorry life? No. Jango did it to put an end to the Jedi because we can't trust them. We've never been able to trust them. He banked everything on letting Dooku use his DNA to build the only army that had a chance of taking these hut'uune down. And now you're talking about making concessions to them. You make me sick." "In case you hadn't noticed," Skirata said, suddenly unnaturally calm, "the winning side doesn't like us much, either. We're still under the heel of Force-users. Just one with a red lightsaber." "So why put us at risk? Why not just shoot Zey and have done with it? Kina Ha-that I can understand. She's a lab specimen. Scout-part of the package. But Zey? Let him go, and he'll search out his pals and try to rebuild the old Order. You don't need to do a deal with Altis to take them off your hands. You need a Verpine rifle and some guts." "Okay, mir'sheb, you go and finish them off. An old woman and a child. Ori'jagyc. Big man." "You think I wouldn't?" "If you don't-then what are we going to do with them?" "We get this far." Vau spread his arms. "We get this far. We finally get rid of the Jedi and its groveling lackeys. And what do you do? You help them survive and regroup. You, of all people. One minute you hate their guts and see them as the enemy, the next you go soft on them. Oldest trick in the book-put children and old folks and pitiful wrecks in the line of fire to shield a cowardly army. You know how we despise an enemy that tries to exploit that." "It's... not about that, Walon." Vau made a sweeping gesture of disgust. "If Fett were alive today, he'd spit on you, you know that? What did all those clones die for, Kal? So we could give the Jedi a second chance? Sheb'urcyin... aruetii." Butt-kisser. Traitor. Ordo waited for Skirata to swing a punch. He didn't. He just took it in silence. Vau turned and stalked off, snapping his fingers at Mird to follow him. Jusik shuffled his boots and looked embarrassed. "I think everyone revises history under stress," Jusik said. "He's forgotten that nobody knew Jango had set this up until the Purge happened. None of us had any idea what the clone army was really for, beyond something the Jedi Council didn't ask enough questions about." "He's right, though, isn't he?" Skirata still stood staring down at the floor. "I go out of my way to do the decent thing for Jedi. But I won't help my own Mand'alor." "You make it sound as if you had a plan that took account of all this, Buir," Ordo said. "Your only plan was to save as many of us as you could. You never set out to smash the Jedi Order, Fett did. It's a separate issue." [...] Jusik waited until Skirata was out of earshot and shrugged. "I hate it when they're both right. Come on. Better stand by to stop him throttling Zey." Vau had been far closer to Jango Fett than Skirata ever had. He understood-perhaps too late, but eventually-the depth of Fett's loathing of the Jedi. They'd cost Fett everything he held dear; the Death Watch had robbed him of more-a family and a surrogate father-but Fett still bided his time for years and saved his supreme act of revenge for the Jedi. That told Ordo everything. And you won, Jango. Shame you didn't live to see it.
In Republic Commando: True Colors, Walon himself admitted to having “little time for anyone else, regardless of species” with exception of Mird and clone troopers. The books made it clear he is an emotionally closed man, very detached to the point Etain compared his cold calmness to those of Jedi Masters. When it comes to Galidraan, he didn’t openly speak about missing any fallen comrade who died back then, only that he specifically failed Jango Fett.
Side note: The only(?) Mandalorian from Vau’s past who was not Jango Fett nor connected to main heroes mentioned in book was his adoptive father:
Even I had a second father to adopt me … too late, maybe, but better than never… [Republic Commando: True Colors]
If adoptive father decided to go with Jango to Galidraan and died there, Vau would have another layer of guilt over not being there and to hate Death Watch. However the narration of Vau’s feelings about destroying the Jedi Order is still presented as “Jango’s war”. Considering how bond between father and son is very important in Mandalorian culture (especially the version spread by Kal Skirata), Vau rarely mentioned his adoptive father but we have three books in row (True Colors, Order 66 and Imperial Commando: 501st) in which his thought are focused on Jango - how clones do not remind him the man , about Fett’s childhood, hate for Jedi and time in slavery, and even how Boba must feel now after losing a father.
The most interesting part is how the revenge on Tor Vizsla’s Death Watch and Jedi is framed as Jango’s war, not his and such narration doesn’t change even months after Jedi Purge. It is always Jango’s war, a battle Vau did not supported in the past but now will carry on Jango’s wish to destroy Jedi once and for good, as he argue against helping Jedi survivors - the children may not be count as the danger to Mandalorians by him, but he does not show much sympathy for a former Jedi General Zey which whom he worked quite closely in the past of two years.
Vau’s loyalty to his former leader is surprising, as there were not so many people he openly cared about to this level. What is also worth to mention, Walon had no idea Jango’s part in creating Great Army of Republic was about revenge against Jedi, but from all Mandalorians hired by Fett, only he connected all the dots once Palpatine issued Order 66, what implies Vau may have the best understanding of the Jango's background, motivation and determination.
Republic Commando: Order 66
It was crowded in the small submarine. They all had cabins or bunk space, and Skirata wanted everyone to keep clear of the main crew deck, mainly because he was getting agitated with folks trying to keep out of his way. But also because he was worried about Vau. The old chakaar had taken the news about Sev in complete silence, not a twitch on his face, and that usually meant things within him were fermenting at an unhealthy rate. Vau stood leaning with one hand flat on the bulkhead the other tucked in his belt while he gazed down at his boots. Mird sat at his feet, staring intently into his face. Vau obviously wasn't looking at the strill. "Walon," Skirata said "can I do anything?" "I understand" Vau said quietly. "I actually get it. Shab, why didn't I see this coming?" His tone was so un-Vau-like that it got instant silence on the deck. "You want to talk?" Skirata asked. It was a lousy time. "What's the problem?" "Jango . . . Jango had patience. Jango could wait for eternity if he had to. And wayii, it seems he could wait after death, too."
Thanks to Kal Skirata, we know Vau was included in the project by Jango much earlier than the rest of hired Mandalorians:
Republic Commando: Order 66
"You never told me what you got up to on Kamino in the time before the rest of the Cuy'val Dar showed up,” Skirata said, trying to look as if he’d taken the outburst in stride. “So what else are you going to tell me?” Shab, they might not have been best buddies from birth, but they were as close as two Mando'ade could get.
and actually Walon had some influence over Jango’s decisions in regard who should be hired:
Vau shrugged. “I let him down once.” Vau would never shake off that feeling of having failed, the legacy of his vile father. He’d instilled it into his clones, despite himself. “But I never let him down again.” “Don’t beat yourself up. I should have been at Galidraan, too.” “I know,” said Vau. “That’s why I chose you for the Cuy'val Dar.” Skirata grappled with the stomach-knotting realization that he really didn’t know Vau half as well as he thought he did. He chose me. Shab, he chose me. “Okay, Walon, answer me this, will you? No osik. Did Jango want me on the team?” “We discussed all personnel fully.” “Don’t talk like some shabla administrator to me. Did he want me?” Vau wavered for a moment. Outbursts and wavering in one night; it was all revelations. “You know Jango. He could get his downs on people, and then he’d see sense. Does it matter a shab now?”
We may not have a specific time frame when Jango Fett started trusting Walon Vau so much nor the reason for that, but without a doubt those two men shared a strong bond. At the same time, judging by Skirata’s words “You suddenly his best mate or something?” said to Vau in regard to his opinion about Jango suggests that either Kal didn’t notice their bond before and on Kamino or Jango and Walon did not flaunt much with their, if not friendship then at least professional working relationship. Both possibilities make sense, as Kal was at odds with Vau and Fett during the Kamino era so he could not care one way or another, while Jango and Walon were loners by nature.

Bevin being the one to help boba and keep him in check at times always makes me so happy even though boba refuses help from everyone
it’s nice boba found his odd little family eventually :)
Eu boba is best boba
yesss, the dynamic between boba and beviin makes me so absurdly happy! i also think it's hilariously fitting that boba with all his deep-seated daddy issues ends up as best friends with beviin, the dadliest character in the expanded universe. like a moth to flame, baby! 😂
also, remember that scene in a practical man where beviin adopts dinua using the mandalorian adoption vow—then repeats it in basic, ostensibly so boba can understand it as well?
headcanon that, on some level, that was boba getting adopted too. hell, it's practically subtext in the story itself: like when beviin keeps speaking to dinua afterwards telling her that she's allowed to mourn—and boba is startled for a moment bc it seems like beviin is talking to him, too. or how beviin goes on to keep calling boba "bob'ika," using a diminutive suffix usually reserved for one's kids or loved ones. it really does feel sometimes like beviin just goes, "whoops, you're family now!"
also, the idea that beviin was intentionally pulling boba into the adoption ceremony by repeating it in basic and boba was just obliviously like "oh he's translating it for me, that's nice 🙂" totally cracks me up. man's so socially inept he missed his own adoption ceremony. priceless.

Taking Care of Business (Chapter Forty-Three)
Summary: In the wake of Moff Gideon’s defeat, (Y/N) and Din officially adopt Grogu as their son and the family bids farewell to Bo-Katan before seeking out an old friend.
Pairing: Din Djarin X Fem!Reader
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings/Disclaimers: None
A/N: This chapter’s a little shorter than the last few, but that’s only because I’m saving even more fluff for the last chapter! Thank you for reading, I hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Forty-Three The Adoption (Previous Chapter)
The week after the Mandalorians’ defeat of Moff Gideon and the reclamation of their homeworld from the Empire was marked by a ceremony at the bank of the Living Waters; the Mandalorians – the covert, the former mercenaries and the survivors of the Siege – gathered to allow the Armorer to baptize them in the sacred water and to speak the Mandalorian Creed as a way of reaffirming their vows. Due to (Y/N)’s partially-healed leg wound, Clan Mudhorn was the last to arrive at the Living Waters, much to her embarrassment despite Din’s kind and reasonable assurances.
“You were wounded in battle against one of our people’s greatest enemies, alor’ad,” Din reminded her as he held her steady with an arm looped around her waist and helped her limp down the uneven tunnel to the Living Waters. “I’m sure that the others won’t mind us being a little late.”
“Well, my mother used to say ‘early is on-time, and on-time is late;’ the Naboo pride themselves on their punctuality, after all.” Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Grogu – who was nestled comfortably in the crook of Din’s left elbow – lift one of his clawed hands and aim it towards her bandaged leg, and she gave him a pointed look. “No, Grogu. It’s sweet that you wanna use your Force-healing on me but trust me, I’ve dealt with worse blaster wounds than this one; besides, you still need to regain your strength after what you did last week.”
Grogu cooed in reluctant agreement and lowered his hand while the side of Din’s helmet gently tapped against the side of her head. The sound of drums filled the air as the clan of three stepped into the cavernous chamber that housed the Living Waters of Mandalore, which was now illuminated by several lanterns and adorned with tribal banners; Mandalorians stood at attention on either side of the chamber, and all were wearing their helmets as a sign of respect. The Armorer stood knee-high in the dark water and held a small stone basin in her gloved hands, turning around to watch Ragnar, the foundling of their fallen ally and friend, kneel on the steps before her. (Y/N)’s heart clenched in sympathy for the child and while they waited by the entrance of the chamber, Din’s hand subtly flexed against her waist; everyone here owes their life to Paz Vizsla, she thought to herself as she recalled the Mandalorian’s noble sacrifice, and everyone will repay that debt by ensuring Ragnar grows up safe and protected.
“I swear on my name and the names of the Ancestors…”
“I swear on my name and the names of the Ancestors…” Ragnar recited.
“That I shall walk the Way of the Mand’alor…”
“That I shall walk the Way of the Mand’alor…”
“And the words of the Creed shall be forever forged in my heart.”
“And the words of the Creed shall be forever forged in my heart.”
When he finished, he bowed his head and the Armorer poured the basin of water onto his beskar helmet. “This is the Way.”
“This is the Way,” The assembled Mandalorians echoed.
Sharing a reassuring look, (Y/N) and Din waited for Ragnar to join the others before starting forward towards the steps. Bo-Katan, whose helmet was already decorated with droplets of water, gave them a nod of respect when they passed her and (Y/N) flashed her friend a nervous smile. They descended the steps together and her husband made sure she was stable before letting go of her waist and bending down to set Grogu down on the damp steps.
“Grogu is my apprentice. He is no longer a foundling.” Din’s modulated voice was filled with self-assurance as he continued. “Add him to the Song.”
The Armorer shook her head. “He is too young to speak, so he is too young to take the Creed. He must remain a foundling.”
Grogu cooed and lowered his head in disappointment and (Y/N) struggled to resist the overwhelming urge to scoop him up into her arms, but Din was seemingly unperturbed by the Armorer’s words. “If his parent gave permission, couldn’t he then become a Mandalorian apprentice?”
“Yes, but his parents are far from here, if they are even alive.”
In that instant, realization dawned on (Y/N) and her head whipped around to meet the visor of her husband’s helmet; although she couldn’t see his face, she knew the Mandalorian well enough to determine exactly what he was thinking and after a moment, a bright smile spread across her face. “Then we will adopt him as our own,” She replied, her eyes remaining fixed on Din’s covered gaze as she reached over to slip her hand into his.
In her peripheral vision, she watched the Armorer give them both a deep nod. “This is the Way.”
“This is the Way,” Din and (Y/N) replied in unison and when she glanced down, Grogu was beaming up at them both.
“Let it be written in Song that Din Djarin and (Y/N) (Y/L/N) are accepting this foundling as their son.” With a hint of pride in her modulated voice, the Armorer looked out at the gathered Mandalorians and addressed the child. “You are now Din Grogu, Mandalorian apprentice.”
“This is the Way.”
Grogu happily nodded and the Armorer turned to face Din. “You must leave Mandalore and take your apprentice on his journeys, just as your teacher did for you.”
Din nodded. “This is the Way.” Bending down, he scooped Grogu up and (Y/N) smiled when his clawed hand rested against the beskar covering Din’s cheek. “Grogu. Ni kyr’tayl gai sa’ad.” When he noticed (Y/N)’s confused expression, he softly explained, “It’s a Mandalorian adoption vow; it means ‘I know your name as my child.’ It’s something…something I should’ve spoken a long, long time ago.”
(Y/N)’s eyes prickled with unshed tears as she smoothed a hand over the child’s wrinkled head and met his gaze. “Ni kyr’tayl gai sa’ad, Grogu.” Beside her, Din released a shuddering breath and she nervously bit her lip. “Did I say that right? Mando’a’s pretty difficult to pronounce-”
“It was perfect, alor’ad.” While the Mandalorians began to file out of the chamber, Din pressed his forehead against hers in a Keldabe Kiss and gently squeezed her hand. “Ni kar’tayl gar darasumm, ner cyar’ika riduur.”
She brushed her lips against the beskar covering his mouth as her free hand cradled the side of his helmet. “And I love you too, my honorable Mandalorian.”
“So, I guess this is it.” They looked over to see Bo-Katan standing at the top of the steps, her helmet resting against her hip as a smile played on her lips. “What’re you guys gonna do now?”
(Y/N) tilted her head to the side and considered the Nite Owl’s question. “We haven’t really decided yet, but I suppose we’ll have plenty of time to figure it out on our way to Adelphi.”
“A lot of rumors are gonna start spreading about what happened here, and it’ll be good for Mandalore if Captain Teva and the New Republic hears the truth before the stories,” Din added before helping (Y/N) ascend the damp steps to where Bo-Katan stood. “Thanks to the leadership of Bo-Katan Kryze, Mandalore once again belongs to the Mandalorians and the galaxy is free of Moff Gideon’s influence once and for all.”
Bo-Katan’s cheeks flushed pink as she scoffed at Din’s words. “Well, don’t sell yourselves too short on my account. All of this? It just wouldn’t be possible without you three landing on Kalevala and showing me that I still had a purpose. I don’t know if I can ever repay you for that.”
Taking a step forward, (Y/N) wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug and smiled to herself when she immediately returned her embrace. “There’s nothing to repay, Bo. You were meant to lead your people, just as we were meant to help you reclaim Mandalore.”
When (Y/N) pulled away, Din offered the Nite Owl his hand and nodded as she tightly clasped it. “Take care of yourself, Bo. If you need anything, we’re only a holo-call away.”
Grogu cooed and gave Bo-Katan a small wave, and she chuckled as she blinked away her tears. “I’ll miss you too, kid. May the Force be with you.”
With one final smile, Bo-Katan turned and strode out of the chamber after the rest of the Mandalorians, radiating self-assurance with each step she took and looking every bit the leader that Mandalore deserved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After their long week on Mandalore, the sunshine and warm air of Adelphi was a treat and as (Y/N) piloted the N-1 starfighter down onto the New Republic’s landing pad, she admired the waves gently lapping at the sandy beaches and the lush green foliage framing the rocky hills in the distance. It’s not hard to see why the New Republic established an outpost on this planet, she thought to herself as Din helped her descend from the starfighter.
“We’ll be back in a few, R5!” (Y/N) called out to the astromech droid and gave him a small wave before accepting her husband’s gloved hand and gesturing for Grogu to follow them as they walked towards the Quonset hut that housed a lounge bar for the New Republic pilots. “Captain Teva’s X-Wing is here, so that’s good. Do you think he’s expecting us?”
“I’d be surprised if he wasn’t.” Din matched her slower pace and glanced down at the child toddling happily beside them. “The kid’s gonna get a real surprise when we land on Nevarro and don’t immediately leave.”
(Y/N) chuckled. “The little guy’s definitely spent more time in space than on any one planet, but I think he’ll be okay. He’s our son, after all.”
Her husband’s fingers threaded around her own and gave her hand a loving squeeze as the Quonset doors slid open to reveal the lounge bar. New Republic X-Wing pilots were drinking and chatting amongst themselves at the tables, playing table games and changing the music on the jukebox in the back, and Captain Carson Teva was nursing a glass of spotchka as he leaned against the bar and gave them a jaunty smile. “Let me buy you a drink.”
(Y/N) shook her head and allowed Din to help her slide onto one of the nearby barstools. “Thanks, but we’re here on business.”
“We really appreciate what you two did.” Captain Teva watched in amusement as Grogu jumped up onto the bar and began snacking on a bowl of nuts. “You made our jobs a lot easier.”
Din merely shrugged his armored shoulders. “We’ve all been chasing Moff Gideon. You would’ve gotten him eventually; my wife and I just got there first.”
A string of excited babbles drew their attention towards Grogu, who was pointing at the helmets and severed droid heads suspended above the bar, and (Y/N) realized why he was so enthusiastic when she spotted the old IG-11 head resting beside a slashed Stormtrooper helmet. “Your kid sure likes the trophies.”
“It’s not him, kid.” Din turned back to face the officer and explained, “One of them reminds him of someone he knew.” Captain Teva nodded in understanding and after seeing the encouraging smile on (Y/N)’s face, the Mandalorian continued. “We have a business proposition.”
The officer’s brow arched. “Shoot.”
“This youngling is my apprentice.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
“I’m a bounty hunter by trade; now that he’s with us, I’ll be more selective in my assignments.” One of Din’s hands rested on the small of (Y/N)’s back as he leaned against the bar beside her. “We were offered a tract of land on Nevarro by High Magistrate Karga, and we’ve decided to accept it.”
“Go on.”
“You don’t have the resources to protect the Outer Rim, let alone hunt down Imperial remnants.” (Y/N)’s smile widened when the officer reluctantly nodded in agreement. “And we need work.”
Captain Teva smirked at that. “Let me get this straight: you two want to work for the New Republic?”
“On a case-by-case basis,” Din corrected. “Independent contractors.”
(Y/N) nodded. “I’m a seamstress by trade and now that we’re settling down on Nevarro, I was considering taking commissions. That way, I can split my time between my sewing and our assignments.”
“You and I both know this is against regulation, Captain (Y/L/N). It’ll never get approved.”
There was amusement in Din’s modulated voice as he replied, “Which is why you won’t tell them.”
The officer sighed and finished off the rest of his spotchka. “Let me think about it.”
“You already did,” Din chuckled. “It’s a good deal and you know it.”
“Is that so?”
“My husband is the most skilled bounty hunter on this side of the galaxy, and I couldn’t have saved as many civilians as I did during the Rebellion without being one hell of a smuggler.” Leaning back in her seat, (Y/N) crossed her arms over her chest and didn’t bother masking her confident grin with a more modest expression. “In the meantime, all we require is a small advance.”
Din, catching onto what (Y/N) was planning, nodded in agreement and pointed to the severed IG-11 head. “What we want in return is that.”
Captain Teva’s brow furrowed. “A scrap assassin droid head?”
“Mm-hmm, we need it for parts.”
With a small head-shake, the officer slid off his barstool and after a quick word with the bartender, he retrieved the severed IG-11 head for them and they bid their friend goodbye, all three of them comprehending the unspoken arrangement that had just taken place: (Y/N) and Din would selectively accept assignments secretly sent to them by Captain Teva, and their apprehension of rogue Imperial commanders and destruction of any remnants of the Empire would help bring security to the fledgling New Republic. A peaceful life on Nevarro sprinkled with adventure and a little bit of danger, she thought as she cradled the droid’s head against her chest and walked alongside her husband and son towards the starfighter, sounds like a perfect work-life balance to me.
“…So, you really think I’m the most skilled bounty hunter on this side of the galaxy?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and heaved an exasperated sigh even as her lips curved into a reluctant smile. “I do…but that doesn’t mean I suddenly think that bounty hunters are better than smugglers. I guess all those rumors about bounty hunters needing their skills validated all the time must be true.”
“And I can’t believe that smugglers’ egos are so easily threatened by some competition.”
Grogu giggled and jumped up into the cockpit as (Y/N) shot Din a playful glare. “Mir’sheb.”
“I love you too, alor’ad.” With a chuckle, Din’s gloved hand caressed her cheek before moving to rest on the small of her back to help her climb into the cockpit. “Now, let’s go home…”
Mandalorian Armour Colours
Armour Colour meanings and Classifications
Perhaps it's a little ridiculous, but with more and more fans wanting a full comprehensive guide to colours, and my own frustration at not being able to find the fanon colour charts of old, here we are. For both your sake, and mine, please don't be upset if anyone doesn't utilise this guide, it is after all a guide, and only a fanmade compilation. If anyone has any criticisms, that's what edit is for, and if you want further definition, do not hesitate to let me know in the comments.
The Classicly Accepted;
[This section is the clolours accepted by Canon Media, both Disney and Legends. I will include a colour swatch and the Taubman's pallet code for ease of use. If there are colours you wish to see evaluated, or meanings you wish to infer, let me know.]
[The tiles above are literally the closest I could find to Jaster's colour, and to Boba's visor colours. The left is Red Alert, T12 26.H5, and the right is Crossfire, T15 196.6.]
Red - Ge'tal
'Honouring a parent.' This colour has been seen on the edge of Boba Fett's visor for years, and has been a staple Mandalorian colour for a long time. Honouring a parent is considered acceptable in most forms of Mandalorian Society, hence its widespread use. Honouring does not have to mean morning, and when some Mandalorians move past the grief of a lost loved one, or parent, they move to change the greys to reds, or oranges, in remembrance not of their death, but the life that family member - usually a provider in this case - had lived.
White - Cin
'A new start/Clean slate.' The literal translation for the phrase describing white on armour (Cin Vhetin) is 'White field,' or 'Snow Covoured Field.' It creates the notion that you are starting over, as winter has come, and it covers all that you used to be, allowing you to completely restructure yourself before spring arrives to thaw it, as a totally new person, with new honour and oaths to fulfil. Often associated with adult adoptions, or redemption vows completed, signifying new life.
[The image above features Jaster as he was in the first issue of Jango Fett - Open Seasons. It is accessible (the pic) on wiki, and I'm pretty sure the comic is available on most comic archives. Jaster's colour are, famously, dark grey, black, red and the yellow Haat Mando'ade Crest.]
Black - Ne'tra
Justice - the colour of Mandalorians whose moral code is unshakable. A notable wearer of this colour is Jaster Mereel himself. Most kute are often this colour, or dark blue (navy) and in most cases that is for cost reasons, and to prevent staining. However, black is the colour of night, and of Death - an important concept to all Mandalorian Sects - and creates a sense of uniformity amongst even the most visually different individuals. Justice, Death, and all that this might entail is a corner stone of Mandalorian culture and perception. One cannot live if they do not accept that Death is a possibility. Black can denote serving of justice, seeking justice, or preserving it.
Grey - Genet
'Honouring lost love, or mourning a lost loved one'. The separate shades of Grey have meaning in some Clans and Houses, but across most of Mandalorian Space, Grey is to signify the passing of a loved one. It can even be worn if either a Clan has been lost, or if a member has been excommunicated. There are also occasions of possible ven'riduur wearing the colour when another warrior gets there before them.
[The above image is the reverse of the New Zealand Free State of Niue's reverse coin. Gold does not promote prestige in Mandalorian culture, but danger. If dressed in gold, one is to be weary.]
Gold - Ve'vut
Vengeance, a common place, and important part of Mandalorian Culture and Law. Methods of vengeance are protected and controlled by Mandalorian Law. Acts that go from vengeance to Revenge can face serious consequence. Outsiders that meet warriors in this colour are warned to practice caution. A Mandalorian's wealth is not decided by the colour of their armour, but of their actions, and gold denotes a thirst for vengeance, in a control, personal manner.
[The image to the left is Nocturne Shade, T15 139.6, and the image to the right is Bright Cerulean, T15 138.7. I included a vivid and deep blue to show the scope of what is considered baseline, before entering Light Blue, Sky Blue, or Navy. I chose as close as I could to Jango Fett's armour, and both Paz Vizsla, and Vizsla House.]
Blue - Kebiin
Reliability, a warrior and Mandalorian who is secure in who they are, what they are capable of, and what they have to offer the galaxy. Warriors in their prime often wear this colour. It is often taken as a show of subtle faith and loyalty to whichever leader these particular Mandalorians serve. Blue is also often worn by mercenaries and Journeyman to create a sense of calm and trust between them and their charges. Blue is often seen as a solid, and dependable colour, and associated with leadership, and their support. Blue is the colour of the Mandalorian Protectors Universal Sigil. Parents who are raising children alone also wear this colour, as a way of reinforcing the belief that they can care for their child alone - a rare occurrence in Mandalorian Space.
Orange -
lust for life, shereshoy
[The colour to the right is literally as close as I could get to Boba Fett's armour. The image on the left is Irish Stone, T15 164.7, and the right is Deep Veridian, T10 54F-2.]
Green - Vorpan
Duty - often considered the workers' colour, green represents hard work, and deep commitment to a cause, a task, an ideal, or an action. Many members of the Fett House predominantly wear this colour as a nod to their humble beginnings, and many farmers and tradespeople wear some small segment of green to denote their occupation. The kind of green, and the way it is worn can also denote different trades and employment types, although like with most colours, each mandalorian is ultimately able to make decisions for themself on what their colours mean to them.
The Observed and Official Greater House uses;
[This section is for Fanon, or non-official colours. The Mandalorian Mercs and other cosplay groups have commonly accepted colour codes, as do some sections of the Fanfic writing community. If anyone has any colour ideas, do let me know, and feel free to leave a link to other colour charts in the notes! It's my ambition to make sourcing knowledge on Mandalorian culture easier and easier for newer fans.]
[Image for Beskar Silver was taken from the Etsy Adds for Beskar Ingots. There are multiple companies and craftspeople that make these - vey cool! I can not let myself buy any. I can not!!!]
Silver - Beskar
The Colour of unpainted beskar, the associated meanings are either that you have not had the chance to paint it, or if you are in full, evidently in use armour, that you have no right to wear paint. It is the assumed non-colours of the Silver Children (An Elite Group of Mandalorian Ori'ramikade) and the Naasaade (the Nameless Society, a group of Mandalorians who have either been put towards the path of redemption by order, or by choice) and of many bounty hunters of the Outer Rim who seek to keep their clan affiliations a secret. It is widely believed that if any Mandalorian is to have honour, it is one in silver, as it infers that this particular Mandalorian will do all that is possible to be seen as honourable once more by themselves, others, their clan, and the Ka'ra.
[The image on the left is Blue Booties (I know right?), T15 142.1, and the image on the right is Reflection, T15 142.2. I included an eggshell blue, and a powder, almost greenish pale blue. I even checked the definition of Cyan for you. Essentially, really light teal, like, really light.]
Cyan, or Sky Blue -
'New Love', often used as the symbol of engagement. Most Mandalorians cannot afford to exchange and modify pieces of their armour from one partner to another, and so instead of this practice from the eras of battlefield weddings, most unmarried warriors are encouraged to carry a small vial of this colour paint instead. This is a practice seen more amongst the traditionalists, who believe in earning armour on your own merit, and not upon the backs of others. Other methods of using this colour is in Cyan Beads upon your kute, or the addition of decorative cord upon a warrior's shoulder to denote engagement, or new marriage.
The Two Shades of Purple
[Purple is a difficult colour. Caught between red and blue, and having so many varied shades and meanings across both Mandalore, and the fandom, I've done my best to create the general feel of what purple means to a culture obsessed with living life to the fullest, and honouring your oaths.]
[Image on the left has Imperial Violet, T15 211.4, and the image on the right has Purple Statice, T15 210.5. I grabbed both a warm and cool variety for those of you with colour schemes to match. Purple is a colour often associated in fandom with chance, hope, and luck.]
a) Lavender, or Violet
The colour of luck and chance, Violet and Lavender are supposed to be a sign of recognition and faith to the old Mandalorian God and Spirit of Luck, and although belief in the Gods has long since faded, folklore still holds most shades of lighter purple as the colour of chance, change, and good futures. It is a common colour for new parents wishing to do right by their children.
[Image on the left is Imperial Purple, T15 213.7, and the image on the right is Royal Indigo, T15 130.7. Again, I have used both warm and cool shades to allow as much versatility as possible with colour palletes.]
b) Indigo
Often considered the colour of hope, Indigo and its shades are often used to mean the same things as other shades of purple, and when paired with colours such as Cyan, and Teal, or even most forms of blue, is meant to inspire a sense of gratitude, or gratefulness for victory, present peace, currently good fortune and such, whilst lighter shades are meant to bring said fortune.
[Image on the left is Tapestry Teal, T15 153.6, and the image on the right is Lagoon Teal, T15 153.5. Both Teals are on the lighter side, but you can absolutely go darker in this colour and have the same meaning.]
Teal -
Considered the unofficial colours of the New Mandalorians, the colour was originally worn only by medics, emergency workers, and those who had retired from active combat. It was supposed to be the colour of those who had seen violence, and stood up to atrocities in the name of peace. It is now considered a cowards colour amoungst Kyrtsaade circles, and New Mandalorians forbade its application in armour as a falsehood and a breaking of the Healers Code. However, Traditionalists and Way Followers still view it as the colour of choice for more reserved, shrewd verde who fight as a last resort.
[images above are to the left, Minty Green, T15 165.3, and to the right, Sherbet Lime, T15 167.3. Once again, included a warm and cool option.]
Light Green -
'Lust for peace', 'The Guardian', or 'Peace Keeper's Colours'. Often used by warriors who practice non-lethal forms of combat - guards that utilise stun batons and blanks instead of live ammunition. Under the New Mandalorians, it became indistinguishable from Teal and its meanings, but in all other forms of Mandalorian culture, Light Green is used for warriors and guards of sacred r special places, such as schools, hospitals, or the water ways. Light Green is a deeply respected, and widely used colour, even if its meaning has been watered down and misinterpreted by the galaxy at large.
Yellow - Shi'yayc
Dark Green
Dark Blue
Tan
Brown
Cream/Beige
Maroon and Burgundy
[I couldn't pick one... Image above contains Baby Girl, Pigtail Pink, River Rouge, Spring Pink, Jaguar Rose, After the Dance, Flamenco Fire, Turkish Delight, Pink Flambe, Pink Clay Pot, Bold Flame and Strawberry Splash. The codes are found on Taubmans website.]
Pink -
Respect, Knowledge, and Respected. Interestingly, pink in Mandalorian Space is a colour of status, as a unification of white and red, it combines the ideas of horouring those that raised you, and your new beginnings, and the outcome became the colour pink. Different shades mean different things in the more secular coverts, but it is important to note that field archivists, officers, and journalists have a tendency to wear at least some pink.
Additional Colours and Varieties;
Mattes and Gloss
Symbols of the Mandalorians;
The symbols used in Mandalore are vast, and complicated, and often the colour can change the meaning of the symbol. Colour is, as always, up to the discretion and particular tastes of the Mandalorian in question, but there are common associations, and symbols mandated for use by specific beings.
[Extrapolation will be added]
--------------
[Wrote this for my own use, and as a guide on mainstream Mandalore and the subsects we might actually see in Disney media (can you see me distancing their bizarre writing from myself? can you??) after all, the official website lists Din's armour as grey? What?? Bro, no.]
Resources;
The only copy of the old Fan Canon List I could find:
[Fanon List in image is as follows; Purple - Luck, Pink - Respected or Respecting Someone, White - Purity, Brown - Valor, Maroon - Power, Light Green - Lust for Peace, Scarlet - Defiance, Silver - Seeking Redemption, Yellow - Remembrance, Teal - Healing.]
Found on Pinterest. It used to part of one of the cosplay forums, but I can no longer find it. It runs off old canon. There are some issues with the list, but ah well.
Mandalorian Mercs Forum; [here]
They're rather official, and a great deal of their stuff is incredibly helpful, but I find their website hard to navigate. Probably just me though.
Mandalorian Wikipedia Colours; [here]
It doesn't have any of the extended fanon colours, but it dos have an in depth expose on what colour canon and EU Legends has provided us with.
Mando'a Translator; [here]
Not entirely sure how well it works, but it does simple words fine. Its sentence structure is terrible, just like all translate apps, so be warned.
Mando'a Dictionary and Forum; [here]
This Mando'a dictionary has got to be the most comprehensive I have found, however there are still mistakes. The only reason I know that is I printed the whole thing and read it like some kind of nerd.
Mandalorian Colour Definition found on Tumblr;[here]
This one is made by another user, I am unsure of their sources, but it matches closely with a great deal that I have found, so it’s pretty accurate so far.
Another Handy Mando'a forum; here
If there are any other helpful websites and links you can think of, let me know. The Codex will have reference to this chart at some stage, but I'll get to that later. I'm just religiously ignoring the Mandalorian Cookbook I started whilst sick last year. You never hear of it, it never existed.
[I will update this as I make further research.]
