Had the best Vietnamese baguette ever for only £4 in @phohoachinatown!!!! It was soo amazing. Another highlight of our trip to London!!! We went to a little Mongolian cafe for some authentic Mongolian food, it was only £6.50 for one food and the place is located in West Kensigton (google Mongol Centre)!!! Oh ma dayz it was so good. Just like back home. Vee had the noodley looking one. Its well known as the husband food (tsuivan) in Mongolia cause all the husbands seem to love this food and so does Vee! I had some beef dumpling vegetable soup with fried flat dumplings (Khuushuur). So me and Vee are on 'diet'. We haven't been out much but this time I went with my friend to a Thai restaurant in Spinningfield, Manchester. The restaurant was decorated great, staff are friendly and attentive, maybe too much for my liking but I'm an antisocial twat so each to their own. Food wasn't so great unfortunately. Chicken satay was a bit dry not much flavour and not worth the money but the peanut sauce on side was great but not sure why there's a bread on the side?!? Main course; the spicy red sauce was ok, belly pork was soft and tender, rice was too sticky and mashy for my liking. It happens if you put too much water in the rice cooker and the bbq sauce pork didn't taste like bbq sauce it was just really really salty black bean tasting sauce. Overall paid £17.50 each and not worth it in my opinion. So we like to cook as much as we like to go out to eat!!! I made some #japchai for dinner. Vee always roasts the #porkbelly cause she cooks it much better than me!!! This probably costed under £8 and will feed 4. Japchai is a korean glass noodle dish, it basically means mixed vegetables. Apparently. Anyhow, the secret is you fry everything separate to get that flavour and its about finding the balance between soya sauce and sugar. We're always on the hunt for Vietnamese food because it reminds Vee of being in Vietnam with her family and I just like to see her happy little face while she chats away about her family and also I'm an asian food whore to be honest. Anyhow, we found this little family run Vietnamese restaurant in Manchester called @vnam_mcr and oh hell don't we love it. Food they serve is fresh, clean and flavoursome. Special fried rice was nice and fluffy not your usual greasy chinese-y fried rice. It was so goddamn good. Vee had the stew, it was delicious and also not fatty or greasy nor was it gravey or thick like most stews. The spring rolls looked and tasted it was actually handmade as I know all the frozen ones that chinese wholesalers and supermarkets have and all the vegetables they have inside them cause I'm a freak. Staff were friendly, pleasant and very helpful probably because its family owned small business and they actually care about the customers and their staff.
