Hi. Still haven’t gone to bed yet. Brain required me to look up geckos before I can rest because I’ve been racking my brain, trying to figure out what kind of lizard Sarnax could be. Because I had it in my brain that he was probably some kind of gecko, just based on appearances, and well. I had to research geckos real quick. And it turns out there’s a lot, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Sarnax is probably one of the two in particular that caught my eye.

Appearance wise, he looks most like a Crested Gecko (again, from the few that caught my eye, tho there’s probably one he looks like more). From the ridges at the top of his head (albeit, not in the right spot), to the long smooth tail

HOWEVER, in my heart, I want him to be a Moorish Gecko (also known as a crocodile gecko)

THEY LOOK LIKE TINY CROCODILES. And given 2/3 loa lizardfolk, it’d give him SOME connection to Kremy and Briggsy. And also. They’re cute.

Do lim and garak ever have a genuine bonding moment?

OUGHH I think he has to get a lot of his therapizing done offscreen and internally. He needs to put aside his anger and see his father and his contemporaries for the flawed-but-trying people they are. Iskra doesn't really help, but eventually 'if you'd been born into his position you would have done the same thing to protect Cardassia that he did, except worse, because he's smarter than you' settles in.

Garak has to learn to speak his mind more plainly because Lim sees his vague allusions and crafty lies as a cowardly way to hide unpleasant truths. Galactic politics necessitates that he tones his monomaniac Cardassian exceptionalism down, and eventually that may grow to reflect his genuine feelings (but if asked he will certainly lie, so who knows?) Lim needs to grow up a little, see that his parents are also just people trying their best like he is, and maybe go through the mundane trials of adult life on a stunned and recuperating planet to sand his edges off. It's very gradual.

Also tbh they need some time to develop things in common... Lim isn't very well read, doesn't like to talk for fun and is inconsistently disparaging of anything unnecessarily decorative. But eventually he develops an appreciation for creature comforts and realizes that that doesn't make him a bad person, and then he and Garak can debate about what color to paint the house siding or whether or not the azaleas will grow in full sun.

But he very much benefits from some good yadek hugs now and then...

i think its weird that the idea of eating bugs elicits a gross-out reaction in so many people considering the fact that eating bugs is a norm in many cultures today, historically has been normal basically in every culture, and beyond that we evolved from apes. every aspect of human evolution seems like we're designed to eat whatever bug we can grab and historically that is what we've done. what evolutionary benefit is there for the idea of eating bugs to be instinctively seen as gross

Exactly like cats do, and if you try to separate them, you'll get dirty side eyes. They won't put YOU in a fight, because you aren't involved, but you surely must have a death wish if you think you can stop two demons from fighting.

Sometimes there's magic involved too, but it's mostly a physical fight. They don't even actually talk they just, howl and growl. Maybe talk in signs but hardly they do, no, they have to howl and whoever howls the loudest wins.

but they don't need to do that with surface dwellers, they don't even try to fight with angels, everything's a fight with them.

But what about surface dwellers? I said that demons didn't need to fight them. But why? Oh that's because a single growl or dirty look makes those surface weaklings run away I'm fear! And it's fantastic!

yes,,the smell is hard to ignore, and some rude and barbaric demon will just chase them and eat them, but the actual polite demons will just laugh, they won't chase, yet. At least. If they aren't too hungry.
