Maybe ghost trick spoils ahead but heres a post for @alto-tenure's prompt "Lynne and Memry swap with Jowd and Cabanela AU" given for @fyeahghosttrick's Ghost Swap 2024
I’ll be completely honest here- I did NOT expect this prompt to make my brain pop off but when I read through the prompts the first time I hesitated on this one to think for a second about “how would that work?” And boom- my first ghost-swap entry, my first attempt even vaguely trying to emanate another artstyle in a long time and a multitude of files. Enjoy it though, obviously.
Anywhere here’s my thoughts on this version:
I’m well aware of the fact that it’s possible that the prompt meant to simply swap Memry and Lynne with Cabanela and Jowd cleanly and not change the story much but my brain couldn’t figure it out or get that version to care.
So first things first is who I swapped with who. As you can see I put Lynne in Jowd’s place and Memry in Cabanela’s place. At first I wasn’t sure about it because it’s hard to imagine Lynne as depressed as Jowd is but it just makes sense to me. I mean- Jowd is Lynne’s hero, Lynne and Jowd already share many similarities due to this and Lynne would still be a target for Yomiel. Mostly, though, the decision was made because of the similarities I realized Memry and Cabanela have- namely determination and how weirdly others view them.
As for other characters and story beats I admit I had a very tricky time deciding who the new Lynne would be (while Memry could admittedly be replaced by any rooky detective. However I think I have something I’m somewhat happy with where it’s basically that the revenge and Temsik plot gets delayed for some reason (including the part about Alma) and a different Kamila attraction ends up killing Jowd and Lynne is the one to walk in and turn herself in. She (very foolishly) connects the mysterious fortune to the mysterious death that happened to the man that kidnapped her. Cabanela leaves the industry (or takes a break from it at least) after Jowd dies and ends up working with Pigeon man for some reason. Then he maybe takes over when Pigeon man moves away? I’m not sure where Cabanela would really be tbh but that makes some sense to me at least. That or he does just swap with Memry and is lower than he ever would have been in the social ladder because of taking a break and losing drive without Jowd.
When the night of the game takes place I’m still not entirely sure who takes Lynne’s place but I think it would be neat if it was Alma, trying to make sure the actual killer of her husband gets caught when she doesn’t think Lynne did it (plus then the Lynne character and Kamila still live together). Also, before Jowd’s death Kamila and Kynne grow close faster than canonly so that her absence allows them to still care for each other so deeply. Lynne managed to become Kamila’s hero at that time and basically a daughter to Alma as well as Jowd. To be fair there’s also longer for them to have known eachother since, as previously stated, it all would have to occur later so that Memry and Lynne could have been close detective partners before Jowd dies.
But why would Yomiel still go to frame Alma for murdering him when she wasn’t at the park and Jowd is dead? Well, I think he would think that having Alma and Lynne in jail would make Jowd roll in his grave.
Or alternatively Kamila could be the new Lynne and Alma is on some sort of work trip and Amalie really is kidnapped but I don’t like that and Yomiel framing her would still just be to hurt Lynne and Jowd’s spirit.
But anyways, other than that plot is very similar to the normal game. Memry (who would have also gotten close to Alma and/or Kamila through Lynne and working on her case+ working with Cabanela /pigeon man) rises the ranks and takes the path of the white coat because she knows that Lynne never would have killed the person she looked up to and loved so much. Lynne learns to paint and eventually learns to actually blame herself for things that aren’t her fault. They reunite outside of the prison and learn about what really happened from the Justice Minister. Lynne, Missile, Sissle and Yomiel go back in time and fix everything. You know the drill.
A few small but specific things that I imagine changing are
Memry rollerskates everywhere instead of dancing and people remark about how nobody “gets from place to place” the way she does and she’s seen as an “odd girl”.
Bugs are used more frequently in the plot and in how Memry rises through the ranks and figures stuff like point X out.
Lynne doesn’t paint portraits but is more abstract. She also doesn’t remember what Yomiel looks like, just his colors and voice.
Lynne is just as adored by everyone who talks about her as Jowd is so that doesn’t change but instead of people calling her their hero, words such as “she was always such a ray of sunshine in the force” are used.
And maybe I’ll think of more but for now that’s all I feel like writing on it that I don’t think are covered by the art. Thanks for dealing with this rambling- I hope you enjoy my take on this prompt!

ok so. here's my thoughts on how things went for memory recollection.
Sissel remembered the moment they got into their past body. Something about Temsik fragment fuckery, I dunno. That's my only excuse. Merging memories or being hit with memories probably isn't as soul punching when you're literally a little kitty cat. They've been very sworn to their duty to love their families so so much!
Yomiel remembers a little bit after the timelines reset. Like, these memories probably get him for a while as some sort of familiar feeling similar to deja vu, but it actually just hit when he started painting in jail. He couldn't pinpoint exactly what was going on or why he painted that figures he knew he hadn't seen before, and- "Oh fuck, wait. That's right. I KNOW THEM." Kinda like a Jowd situation but.. reversed?
It takes a few months or maybe a couple years for Jowd to remember. He gets freaked out when he realizes he knew exactly what his daughter was going to look like, and- then he's immediately hit with it. Yeah, him and Yomiel probably had a few good talks over some of those prison days. He doesn't tell Alma or anything. Even though he feels bad about it, he knows it wouldn't really be the best thing to tell your wife that.. all of that happened. Unless you wanna look like a crazy person. Again.
Cabanela has his own few deja vu moments when he meets the other for the first time after the park incident, like the Pigeon Man or Lynne. I'd like to think he actually remembers a little before Jowd does, since he was literally also possessed by good ol Manipulator over here, and was so obsessed with figuring him out. He doesn't bring it up at first, until Jowd brings it up, then he just casually admits he's been- almost literally- dancing around the topic until the right time. Idk if this is very in character, lemme know. I've only watched through this game a total of once because it's.. really long. And I just recently finished it.
Lynne remembers over time, but it's specifically whenever she sees Yomiel's face. He's familiar, yet she can't place why, and it's not just from the park.. and when she finally gets hit with the memories once shes older, she kinda goes through some stages before going back to regular old, hyperactive lynne, towards Yomiel. He has the face but not the same personality of who she's used to, but.. she knows he's changed. And we know Lynne is.. quite the character! Not negative, just. I dunno how to explain her! Yomiel is her bestie against his will. This is not a choice.
Kamila doesn't remember any of it. It only comes to her in short visions- aka, "nightmares". I imagine as she gets older, it's possible she might remember these memories more clearly/solidly, or she'll ask Jowd and them, and they sigh and begrudgingly admit what really happened. Kinda up to interpretation, truly! It's fun to think about, either direction.
I think it'd be bittersweet if Missile sometimes had small dreams of being a lamp in the city's trash. Or simply being an odd ghostly figure. Or just being his own, lively doggy self, digging about the trash, yet being ignored by all the humans that come by. Sissel doesn't have the heart to tell him the truth. It's bittersweet because even though it means Missile has to remember this sad life of his old self, it still means Ray lives on, even if it's just a little bit. Probably a similar situation as Kamila, where he'll remember once he's much, much older. Past his dog years.
I feel like Pigeon Man would remember but just. Not give a fuck. He rambles about it to Lovey Dove sometimes, when he's bored, but that's about it. He doesn't care. He's got more important studies to worry about.
The Minister... I'm not really sure. I don't wanna have him remember or else he'll be all sad and mopey again. I'm gonna let him be happy with his family.
As for all the other characters- park protector, Minister's wife, his daughter, etc- they all have faint feelings of it. A small bit of deja vu every year or two, but it's nothing huge at all. They never really dwell on it.

Gonna ramble about my thoughts on Ghost Trick below the cut, spoiler warning if you decide to read!
I really love the animations in this game, and how some of them are really thought-out. The one that comes to mind first is Lynne carrying Kamilla in the submarine, where you can see how Lynne adjusts her grip to carry the kid one handed while holding out the flashlight. There's so much personality visible in each character and it brings them to life really well.
I also really liked how everyone in this game owns up to their mistakes and calls out their own recklessness, particularly Cabanela and Jowd. They acknowledge that the incident with Yomiel was caused by their inexperience and carelessness, and that was really cool to see two police officer characters do.
The 3D-esque artstyle was interesting, especially for a DS title. There were a few places where it fell (pardon the pun) kind of flat, like in the scene with Jowd in the submarine. Because the scenes are 2D it's hard to convey distance, so when characters stand in front of one another it piles up and looks awkward. Also you could see the textures on Jowd's prison jacket swap around when he turns, so that was odd.
The only character whose vibe I didn't quite understand was Cabanela's - is he supposed to be in a relationship with Lynne? Sometimes it felt like the game was implying they were a couple and sometimes it just felt like a mentorship. It was weird.
The controls... I played the Switch port, so everything was joysticks and buttons, and moving from place to place stopped feeling fun and fluid about half way through the game. It felt like once Missile showed up they artificially limited Sissel's movement. Even with Missile's increased range, moving got sticky sometimes because you can't move between objects that are the same shape, you can only swap them. I also found things like people got in the way a lot. Getting used to using Missile's powers was also tricky, and I really wish it hadn't been implemented during that park mission where there's a lot of quick things you gotta do. The number of times I fucked that level up because I hit the wrong button in the moment...
I also found some of the puzzles sort of convoluted, but that's probably just me. There were some puzzles where I had the right idea and if I'd pushed a little farther I could have figured it out, there were some puzzles where I was thinking in the right direction but was missing a step, and then there were puzzles where I looked at the walkthrough and went "and how the HELL was I supposed to figure THAT out?"
Speaking of, the twist ending felt unnecessary. I don't think we gained anything from Ray being Missile, and Sissel being a cat felt really cheap. I would have been happier with some bullshit "oh it's Yomiel from another universe" explanation. The second that kitten appeared in the flashback I said "oh, we're the fucking cat?". I think if there had been hints at the twist throughout the game other than just repeating over and over that Sissel isn't the man in red, or if we had seen the cat more often, it would have felt less random and thrown in. I would have been satisfied with Ray just being a mysterious spirit, too.
There were some questions the ending left me with that I think the game tried to answer but I didn't quite get. The biggest one is, are Yomiel and Sissel the only ones who remember the events of the game? Do the others keep their memories as well? If so, when do they kick in? Was Kamilla born knowing about her death in another timeline?
One other small thing I liked, to cap off - in the new future epilogue, the two spies from the restaurant just straight up die lmao
Overall a fun game! I originally played the demo on the DS back when the Wii still offered freebie demos like that and I'm glad I was finally able to play it. For a game of its age it held up quite well!

Summary
Shu Takumi has done it again (even though this is a remaster lol). What and incredible mystery game with really fun mechanics. There were definitely a couple times I was stumped on what to do or was stuck bc I missed my window of opportunity, but I think it worked well since the puzzles were difficulty and you couldn't just immediately breeze past them all. I also really enjoyed gaining missile's abilities later and having to think of the puzzles in different ways. The characters and animations/sprites were really fun. There's so much personality in them without even saying a word. The game also reveals character information in a really good way as you slowly learn more about the mystery of the game yet also feels like you're getting farther from learning who you are. I also just love how this game is just made with so much love for Takumi's real pets and how Sissel ended up being Yomiel's beloved cat... what a sweet ending oh my god. Each level had such a fun and unique design while also adding a twist to the puzzle, like the stealth level or submarine sinking level. The game also has many unlockable achievements to encourage replayability as well as concept art and other illustrations to unlock. There's so much added to this game and you can really feel the love and care the team put into this game, I hope there are more Ghost Trick games in the future or hopefully even a Ghost trick x Ace Attorney crossover -- I wonder how that would play out esp with Maya's spirit abilities. All in all, such a sweet and fun game. Not too long either. Can't wait to replay it to get all the achievements and make fanart!

For the latest character ask meme, can I suggest Inspector Cananela from Ghost Trick? :)
ask game
1) three facts about them from my personal headcanons
met Jowd and Alma both separately, but after they started dating
has an extremely light-hearted grudge against Missile for having chewed his scarf once
the most science-y of the named detectives in the game
2) a reason they suck
His style of speech is very difficult to get down. I think I've gotten it now, but every time I write him I start grumbling about having to do it.
3) a reason they are great
I love his sense of honor and his kindness and the fact that ultimately he wants to do what's right, even if he doesn't always succeed.
4) a reason I relate to them
perfectionism babey
5) (what I consider to be) the top tier otp/ot3 for that character
I'm an Alma/Cabanela/Jowd truther forever.
6) five some things that never happened to that character that I believe should've happened
oh this is really hard. I really respect how tightly Ghost Trick is written, and it's hard to pull apart at the structure without things falling apart. most of these are post-timeline reboot, I think.
more references to dynamic with Memry (this would have helped if Memry died, I think, though there really isn't space for that)
I know this is a limitation of only having so much space but it would have been cool if his coat was different in the new timeline due to there being not as much of a need for his perfectionism like there is in the old timeline
honestly sometimes I just think about that one scene where they're all just talking in the Ghost World and then suddenly the Justice Minister pipes up IRL and I still feel really bad for Cabanela here though I know it's a little early for him to be let in on the ghost circle information LMAO
7) five people that character never fell in love with
Lynne. He's probably known Lynne since she was a teenager, with her ambitions, and he would definitely be a creep if he was.
Pigeon Man. Co-conspirators, certainly, but not lovers.
I'm not a huge Yomicabs person. Like I get why people like it and I certainly can't judge people who do on the basis that I've shipped worse but idk. maybe this is also in some part pushback against the idea of shoving Sissel (human) aside too -- even tho we don't know anything about her beyond the fact that she exists doesn't mean we have to exacerbate the worst parts of canon
but, like, that doesn't mean Cabanela can't fall in love with him. it just means that I think it wouldn't be requited.
meh. idk. we'll put Yomiel down for this anyways. uh
Rindge. I don't think anyone ships this but I'm running low on characters and their relationship is purely professional imo.
Memry. I see her as a couple years older than Lynne, and also they wouldn't have met when she was a teenager, but I think he has too much self-respect to fall for someone like a decade and a half younger than him who is also a lesbian

Powers of the Dead
After a pointy-haired attorney made his mark on history, a slicked back blond hair man in a red suit, and wearing a pair of funky sunglasses, took centre stage. First released on the Nintendo DS, it wasn't until the game saw a release on the Switch that I bought it and gave it a bit of a whirl. And my, what a journey it was! From a dancing desk lamp called Ray to a meteorite fragment that can give untold powers who die within its aura, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was a marvel.
True, it might have been a commercial failure but it has since amassed a cult following.
And, more importantly, it was designed and directed by the great Shu Takumi. The mastermind behind the Ace Attorney series. And known for giving us such memorable characters like Missile the Dog, Will Powers and Lotta Hart. In Ghost Trick, we encounter a similar roster, from Inspector Cabanela to Guardian of the Park, and Emma (the wife of the Justice Minister).
Ghost Trick begins with the death of your character. Although, the how and the why remain a mystery. Worse, you don't even know who you are. Only that you were killed. Fortunately, a fellow spirit, possessing a desk lamp, is able to provide some guidance into what it means to be dead. As well as the associated powers derived from it. The so called 'ghost tricks' for which the game is named.
Armed with this knowledge, the player character saves the life of a young detective named Lynne by going back in time to four minutes before her death. When Detective Lynne picks up the junkyard phone following the change to her fate, the player character travels down through the telephone lines into a luxurious room where two men, with a shade of blue to their skin, discuss the botched assassination job for Lynne. Before then, revealing the player character's name: Sissel.
Despite now knowing their name, Sissel still hasn't quite regained their memory. Desperate to figure out why he was killed and who he was in life, Sissel decides to work in tandem with Lynne. Along the way, he saves her from death multiple times and encounters several other characters including Missile the Dog, Kamila and Detective Jowd.
Soon, he is able to piece together the disparate connections between the people he encounters, such as Detective Jowd taking the fall for the death of his wife: Alma. As well as the case Lynne was investigating the night she turned up at the junkyard to supposedly question Sissel.
But what might have been a simple mystery later turns out to be remarkably complex revenge plot from a person known only as 'The Manipulator.' And in Chapter 15, after springing Detective Jowd from prison and then saving the lives of both the Pidgeon Man Superintendent and Inspector Cabanela, Sissel learns the dead body he thought was his actually belonged to the main villain pulling the strings: Yomiel.
Ten years ago, Yomiel was struck from behind by a meteorite and killed. The radiation from the meteorite, however, would give him powers to manipulate living bodies. Additionally, it meant his body could not die - forever regenerating to the moment before his actual death.
Unfortunately for Yomiel, he wasn't quite able to master his powers initially. Coupled with the initial amnesia that comes from being dead, he was not able to initially possess his own corpse. When he finally was able to return to it, and those he loved, he loses the love of his life. All because he was falsely suspected for leaking national secrets.
With no future ahead for him, but unable to die, Yomiel soon hatches a plan to sell the secret behind his powers for the promise of a life he can live in a foreign nation. However, it isn't long before Yomiel is betrayed by those very same allies near the very end of the game, leading to one last time jump from Sissel.
Though the plot was a wild rollercoaster (considering all of it was in the span of a single night), I enjoyed my time with Ghost Trick. Much of it was derived from the range of kooky characters Sissel encountered on his quest to regain his memory. But I also liked how much Sissel's own motivations mirrored my own as I, too, was curious to figure out who he was and what his story might have been.
But what stuck out to me was how much the story was aided by the help of the gameplay. Especially with Sissel's ability to manipulate objects around him - almost like a poltergeist would. While I did find it occasionally limiting (due to the restriction of Sissel's reach and forced only into 'cores'), the puzzles were a unique aspect to the game. After all, it's not every day that I have to try experimenting with unconventional objects around me to save the life of another. For example, knocking down a donut and then hitting it with a door in order for a dog to chase it under the sofa.
The swapping, too, of objects with similar shapes also came in handy in the last few stages although I felt those puzzles were a little more obtuse (but perhaps it was more me trying to understand the timing for when I would need to actually possess another object in order to reach the core I wanted to manipulate).
In any case, I am mightily ashamed I slept on this game when it first came out back in 2011. However, given I was still only in university and didn't actually have a job, I suppose I can forgive myself for overlooking it. For now.
Still, while I would love for many of these games to have actual voice acting, I still love putting on the voices for the various characters. Although, I must admit, it can be hard to find the exact one I'm hoping for as there isn't much context on what their accent ought to be. Or how old they are until much later in the dialogue (looking at you, Ray!)
I must say, my Cabanela had a strange southern accent whereas Missile was an excitable high-pitch impression of what a Pomeranian would sound like. And don't even get me started on my stoner surfer dude for Guardian of the Park.
Whether or not these are the correct voices for the characters, I don't know. But I must say I had fun doing them. If only for my own entertainment.
More than all of that, though, I liked all the subtle hints to Sissel's true identity. Including his inability to read and the fact he didn't recognise a slew of common things most humans would know. Even if they had amnesia.
So, dear reader, if you are looking for a game that's a little bit different from the norm, look no further to Ghost Trick, which will see you jumping across telephone lines and helping out a range of various characters in different forms of distress. The story is a wild ride, but at least it's well plotted and makes narrative sense. Unlike Scarlet Nexus or the current book (as of time of writing) that I'm reading for book club: Year of the Locust.
Besides, who doesn't love a dancing twerking desk lamp?

Inspector Cabanela:
Ghost Trick already has an absolutely amazing Story filled with great Characters, but from the second this man danced onto the scene I was absolutely invested in the guy. During the entire game it is never quite clear whose side he’s actually on and I love it! Out of all the characters from the game he definitely made the strongest impression on me.
Agent 8:
Holding her up by her neck like a kitty I like this one! Octo Expansion was a fantastic DLC and ooooh you can have so much fun with agent 8 as a character in particular! I love seeing all the different interpretations and versions people have of her!

Ghost Trick
Alma
Cabanela
Jowd
Pigeon Man
Alma/Jowd/Cabanela are the OT3 of my heart but I’m perfectly happy with gen fic for them too with bestest friend Cabanela to Alma/Jowd. I’m also happy to see something focused on only one or two of them–I only ask that if there’s a ship situation between 2/3 it’s simply because that’s where the focus lies. No infidelity.
I’m a big fan of hurt/comfort and the more tenderness on the comfort end the better. However you can’t go wrong with pure fluff either.
I’d be interested in any mix here with Pigeon Man. I’m always a sucker for Pigeon Man and Cabanela during their year working together or any other time like meeting again for the first time in the new timeline! But, Jowd and PM have a history and Alma and PM are a very rare combo I'd love to see more of, or any other combo or subset of these four characters.
I'm a big sucker for Ch. 9 and Ch. 15 always. Anything in there is good stuff.
Big sucker for the year Cabanela and Pigeon Man worked together on Jowd’s case or any point in those five years for just Cabanela.
A case Alma somehow ends up involved in?
Navigating Jowd's whole deal in the early days of having dragged the truth out of him
Jowd knowings things he shouldn't and having to avoid accidentally slipping up but Alma and Cabanela are sharp
Other characters are welcome to make appearances if needed! I love the cast wholeheartedly.

Final Fantasy VI
Celes
Edgar
Sabin
I'm quite partial to the World of Ruin explorations as there is a lot of space for character interaction there. Lots to consider in how they're dealing with it and coping and looking for hope and finding each other...
Some general ideas:
Sabin and/or Celes trying to deal with "Gerad" or the aftermath
The trip in Figaro Castle to Kohlingen. It's been saved! Sabin and Edgar are home; Celes not so much but there's some comfort to be found?
Sabin and Celes trip along the Serpent's trench before or after Mobliz, or more during that first visit to Mobliz
Post-game what are they doing? Well, Sabin and Edgar presumably went to Figaro. What about Celes? Maybe they invited her to stay for a bit while she decides what to do with herself?

King's Quest VI
Alexander
Cassima
Captain Saladin
Rotten Tomato
Fandom Specific DNW: King's Quest 2015
I played KQ VI for the first time early this year and was completely charmed by it. While I'd like the focus to be on KQVI things I'm good with pulling in details from the other games in the original series too. Just nothing specific to the 2015 reboot please as I've never played or seen it.
I found Alexander quite endearing. I was really interested in Cassima and while she's stuck in the damsel in distress role she felt less like one--she was ready to take action and just needed that opportunity, and was so protective and dedicated to her home.
Saladin could be interesting from a conflicted loyalty to the crown perspective. It's tough being a guard dog!
Rotten Tomato... sometimes you just gotta have fun. He was an entertaining grump nyehh.
Some general ideas:
Even with the genie's help, I'm sure there are still things to take care of after the mess Alhazred left. Or go with the worse ending and Alexander and Cassima having to deal with the fall-out of that.
Exploration of Cassima before Alexander arrives? She's pretty trapped but bound to be something there... Does she managed to communicate anything with Saladin? Does Alhazred just keep wrecking things?
Alexander and Cassima having an adventure after the end possibly tying into that first point but with the land of the green isles anything could go! Maybe they come across Rotten Tomato again and need his help with something.
Cassima doings and thoughts while Alexander is doing his thing in game

Crossbell
Alex Dudley
Elie MacDowell
KeA
Lloyd Bannings
Randy Orlando
Sergei Lou
Tio Plato
Zeit
Fandom Specific DNW: Spoilers for Reverie or Daybreak, shipping between any of the characters listed here - gen only, please!
I love the found family feels among the SSS, Dudley yanked in too. Any combination of characters is welcome here.
Tio and Randy sibling like relationship and some shared similarities in childhood trauma
Sergei and Dudley working together in the past or present or just a little break. Totally not getting attached to the SSS
KeA winning over Dudley because none can resist her
Anything relating to KeA's powers. Explore them!

Pokemon Verses Info
I blame Pluto (@invictarre // @funkaliicious ) for that one
v. ghost trainer || pokemon AU
Yomiel's story stays pretty much the same, except it's set in the Pokemon World instead. He is a native Unovan and he met (fiancée) Sissel in his childhood and they quickly became best friends. Yomiel still has a troubled family life and Sissel is the only friend he has. Both of them love Pokémon and Sissel's father is a Pokemon researcher, so one day, he is moved to Kanto to continue his research and Sissel has to leave her best friend behind, giving him her red scarf as a memento, and Yomiel promissed to give it back to her should they meet again.
She only comes back years later, when both are teens. They fall in love and start dating. They become engaged, but just when everything starts going well for the couple, Sissel's dad falls ill and dies, leaving her in a deep state of depression.
Yomiel, who is now a Systems Engineer and works with technology, ins tangled up in an ultra secret project that begins to be infiltrated by Team Plasma spies. He gets arrested in suspicion of being one such spy and interrogated by Inspector Cabanela, who drives him into a corner, leaving him no hope of getting found innocent. As Cabanela leaves the room, he mistakenly leaves his gun behind, leaving the opportunity got Yomiel to escape in a panic, and wants to rush to Sissel because he is worried about her.
He is found by Detective Jowd in a park, Jowd shots a warning shot and makes him panic, taking a little girl that was playing in the park (Lynne) hostage. Jowd is about to shoot Yomiel, but a mysterious meteor falls from the sky, killing Yomiel on the spot.
The meteor gives his body immortality and his soul powers of the dead. Yomiel ends up adopting an eevee that was in the scene of his death. He runs to Sissel's house, only to find out she is dead, as she commited suicide to join him. He names the Eevee "Sissel" after her and gives him the red scarf. He later evolves into an Umbreon.
Yomiel ends up adopting more cat and ghost pokemon as he wanders the world as a dead man walking, seeking revenge on people responsible for his death.
v . sucked into the game || pmd verse
I wanted to keep this verse more silly and easygoing. For some unknown reason, Yomiel was sucked into Mystery Dungeon while playing the game. As if being struck by a meteor and turned into some sort of undead/Schrodinger human wasn’t enough in the previous timeline, now Yomiel is a Flareon inside a Pokémon game! How is he going to get out to his original world? Or maybe this is just another one of his weird dreams?

💗 Five Comfort Characters, Five Tags 💗
tagged by @fortune-maiden and then I promptly forgot. Sorry! But then I remembered! So I thought I'd do it now and thank you for tagging me! I've numbered them for convenience but they really aren't ranked.
1. Jowd (Ghost Trick) I know, I know, if you know me, you were probably expecting me to say Alma and yes, FFVI/GT AU Alma absolutely is! Or maybe Cabanela and yeah, I do love my glow stick man (snap snap). But canon Alma is only what we know through the people around her, and Cabanela is wonderful and fantastic and I DO love him, so I'm putting Jowd in there because sometimes I think a liiittle too much like him. It's very comforting to see how much he is adored by everyone around him--really, I'm nominating my OT3 here if I'm honest.
2. Kloe (Trails in the Sky) She just tries so hard, y'all. So, so hard, and her determination to overcome her weaknesses is really inspiring to me. Plus, I love the way her friendship with Estelle makes them both more well-rounded people. (But, again, there were SO many people from Trails I could have put here with equal justification. Estelle, Tita, Olivier, Mueller, Tio, Randy, KeA... wait, I'm kind of just copying my tagger. Well, that's how great they are!! Trails has some excellent characters.)
3. Lucca (Chrono Trigger) - We're going back in time for this one. Picture me, 13 years old, unsure what I had going for me besides my know-it-all-ness and a blithe disregard for social norms...and then here's Lucca, who is celebrated in-game for these things! It was, shall we say, a revelation. I've come and gone through many fandoms through the years, but Lucca has remained a constant source of joy.
4. Terra (Final Fantasy VI) I played CT and FFVI at basically the same time in my life and I instantly loved Terra for her endearing "weird girl" quirks, her confusion over her place in the world, and, ultimately, the way she chooses to care rather than to isolate herself even when things were the hardest for her. The first time I dyed my hair anything but a "normal" color, it was green in honor of her!
5. Lupe dy Cazaril (The Curse of Chalion) This book is a major comfort tale for me despite my rather irritable disconnect with the canon romance for the main character. (-.-) But, I love Caz for his unshakeable loyalty and his determination to choose empathy and honor over repeating the unspeakable cruelties he lived through. Caz reminds me that cycles can be broken and things can change, I think.
Honorable Mention: Princess Arjumand (To Say Nothing of the Dog) She's a horrible wonderful cat and to say I enjoy what she puts the main cast through would be an understatement XD. And yet I would let her sleep on my chest any day.
Thanks again for the tag! Not tagging anyone but feel free to try this yourself if you enjoy such things!

wait i also wanna do ghost trick for the fandom blorbo thingy
shdjhdbx this was surprisingly hard cause I love pretty much every character but here we goooooo!
blorbo(all time fave): in my head Sissel and Lynne are like, a Unit, buuut if I were to pick only One it would be Lynne by the slimmest of margins
scrunkly(cute "baby"/just so Shaped): MISSILE!!!
scrimblo bimblo(underrated): the Justice Minister. he doesn't even have an actual name. what a sad, strange little man
glup shitto(obscure): I can't tell you why I'm attached to Detective Ringe but I am. He plays such a small part in the overall story but I just think he's neat :)
poor little meow meow(pathetic/"problematic"): well uh he's kinda a walking spoiler so I don't want to be Too specific but. If you know you know :P
horse plinko(would torment for funsies): Cabanela I'm sorry I love you but you're too fun to mess with
eeby deeby(kick into superhell): ghh what's that fancy blue guy's name..Dandy? That guy's an asshole
#asks#ancnome#ghost trick#capital says things#there were way too many characters that could have fit in anywhere but i had to narrow it down for brevitys sake#anyways. ghost trick Is getting ported to like Everything later this year i genuinely cant reccomend it enough#so i kept it vague as i could (esp with the walking spoiler) cause its the kind of game you need to walk into as blind as possible#thanks again!!

okay but i am thinking about barok-cabanela interactions. (warnings for full spoilers for the great ace attorney chronicles/1&2 below!! and obviously ghost trick spoilers too but this is a gt blog so. lol.)
outside of me wanting it because they're my respective favorites and because of how different they are (cabanela would inevitable irritate barok so much and it would be SO good!!), i'm like... also thinking about my respective headcanons for them post-canon?? specifically, how in the new timeline, cabanela doesn't know about the events of the game because jowd and sissel kept it from him in an attempt to protect him. and also because they thought they probably wouldn't be believed, but!
it's not really very similar to barok's situation of being in the dark about the truth of the professor case for so long... after all, the circumstances are super different in the end. but I still really enjoy the parallel of both of them (cabanela and barok) having a secret kept from them from a loved one in the name of their own protection??? with klint keeping the secret of the professor's identity from barok, and cabanela being kept in the dark about the previous timeline by jowd post-canon.
IT'S ADMITTEDLY A VERY FORCED and not particularly strong parallel, especially since it's entirely headcanon-based on cabanela's part, but like... i just like the idea of them bonding over their frustrations of having had important secrets kept from them. also there's something to be said for their relationships with reputation - barok's having his ruined and going along with it for the sake of london, cabanela trying to achieve a "spotless record" to save his friend at the cost of being believed to be a selfish man and not being understood by anyone... idk.
tldr i adore these two characters who are very much not alike at all and therefore my brain is like "so let's give them something in common then" actually. and now i'm brainrotting about it. HELP
#ooc#idk where i'm going with this and this post feels dumb because actually their stories are pretty different#and the idea of being kept in the dark plays a far stronger element in barok's arc canonically than cabanela's does#but. i am nonetheless thinking about this very hard rn..............#also cabanela and sholmes interactions would be the best thing ever. if you disagree you are objectively wrong i'm sorry!!

[Ghost Trick, Jowd/Cabanela] Old bridges
Sometimes the past weighs on Cabanela too. [technically FFVI AU but reads like a no-reset scenario]
Happy Ghost Swap @siverwrites dearest!!! Some good old-fashioned comfort for our whitecoat...
There are days when Cabanela cries for their lost years. As much as he tries to make it quick and sanitized, compartmentalizing these imperfect outbursts in hidden and shameful brackets in time, he lives his life too intensely in all things to just snap his fingers and rein in his grief. So he takes his leave and sobs for hours on end for all the past that won’t come back, missed birthdays, lonely nights, the fractures that can’t heal, that one bad call he made that brought down the entire world in its fallout.
Jowd has no words for him (this is not quite accurate: he would have plenty of words, such as “defeat looks nice on you”, but while true, he has been reliably informed that they would only make the situation worse and keeps them to himself). The thing is, all these big pains dragging him down, they’re true. They’ll never stop being true. But they’re trash. Jowd wishes that this silly terrible man who loves so intensely and whom Jowd has come to adore knew how to take a loss and let go sometimes, but if he did, Jowd wouldn’t be here to wish for it in the first place. They are here thanks to that unnatural stubbornness. It’s a tricky balance.
Let him be the rock for once, then. He sits next to him in the space between a sob and the next, making Cabanela aware of the space he occupies in this present thanks to Cabanela’s past actions. As they sit next to each other, unsure of how to reach out, one of Sissel’s latest litter of foster kittens jumps and claws his way up Jowd’s leg to rest in his lap with a satisfied yawn. Cabanela, ever quick to bow to sensible leadership, follows the little guy’s example and deflates against Jowd’s shoulders, stifling a sob and not moving one muscle more than he strictly has to. It’s contact, of a sort. Some gap has been bridged, they’re in this together. He doesn’t know what to do but by the gods they’re in this together. He puts a hand on his back, fingers spread out to almost reach both shoulders at once, protecting that strange heart. It’s not magic, but it works well enough to slow down the drumming, even dam the tears somewhat. Jowd takes his hand in his, running his thumb against its back. The skin feels thin, almost brittle, and the circles drawn by his thumb make waves of little wrinkles.
“I love you,” he would say, awestruck by every sign of time on their bodies, by this rare fragility. But he doesn’t, because it would sound like he only loves him when he’s dragged down to his worst.
Instead he says, “Our mistakes should have buried us long ago,” which was the other pressing thought on his mind at the moment and which in hindsight does not sound much better. He winces. So much for helping.
But Cabanela chuckles and buries his head against his shoulder, knowing Jowd well enough (past all the lost years) to understand that the key word there is ‘should’, and in fact they didn’t, they didn’t because someone fought and won, and so it’s a compliment, a display of gratitude of sorts. In this present, they are here, together.
Maybe he’ll tell him that he loves him, too.
