day 12 of the final endhawks: endhawkspocalypse:
the adhd side of my brain has taken over and decided that consistency can No Longer Happen, so i've decided to make this my last day of posting, at least when it comes to sequential daily posts. i'm still unhinged-ly working on endhawks-related things for the foreseeable future though, and always happy to talk about the ship!
here's a final hodgepodge of thoughts!
part 1 - more ch430 positives
the continued use of a ranked *number system* in particular is silly imo (ig the masses do love a catchy numbered list). but at the very least, i gotta appreciate that the main characters didn't get top rankings straight outta school--when i think about how old they are post-timeskip compared to hawks, especially! bbygirl got #2 at 22 but was child-soldiered into it and was absolutely breaking his proverbial back. it's really not an aspirational thing to beat, and it's not something the main characters have to achieve to be "cool" or fulfilled narratively. they focused on their happiness, instead--shoto on finding his own identity and balancing his life thanks to his support system, bakugo on getting his boyfriend/whatever/queerplatonic-died-in-each-others'-arms-on-a-battlefield-in-a-past-life-and-now-they-keep-reincarnating-together soul-partners/rival back at his side so they can keep pushing each other, etc.! mirio's ascent notwithstanding, it's a healthy nugget from the final chap.
another cute thing from 430 is when hawks jokes that nagant is a villain. this joke has layers to it, considering both had to take on the villain label because of the commission, also contributing to their respective traumas under the commission. (they both even had someone cradle them in their arms shouting that they were still a hero despite them being at their low points--and physically very crispy. one of those someones being hawks himself, ofc.)
Tumblr media
next, i gotta appreciate how unfettered hawks's facial expressions have become (also, his under-eyes are already thicker and darker, bro needs to sleep 😭) compared to how subdued they were in the twice fight (and to be clear, his expressions still screamed volumes then. i love how they're drawn to convey so much nuance in his emotions). once he was cut free from the commission, he stopped putting on a smile while doing hero work (there wasn't much to smile about post-raid, but pre-raid i'd argue things were bleak for him already, so at least he doesn't feel the need to put on as many airs). he also started actively sweating and showing fear, but without losing more genuine displays of confidence and happiness. (all this makes me very curious if his speech patterns have also changed in the original japanese to any extent compared to how they were at his introduction)
Tumblr media
part 2 - dabi=endhawks truther?!?! *not clickbait*
i remember it being kinda hilarious that dabi tossed out hawks's history as an extra "fuck you" to endeavor, but i forgot how direct he is about his intentions.
Tumblr media
he's just like, "yeah, i specifically wanted to drag hawks (and reveal his betrayal and hopefully shake your faith in him) to hurt you, dad. even though you two have hung out, like, maybe twice (may he rest in peace) in your whole lives. trust me, i knew this would be devastating for you. don't ask me how i know." like. touya my man. what are you doing. also thank you. almost makes the angst-lover in me wish he'd added a "don't worry about hawks, dad. you'll be joining him soon" right before attacking him with prominence burn to twist the knife, though understandably that would've convoluted the spotlight when the focus was meant to be on family and the touya reveal. but goddamn, just imagine.
he basically did the exact same thing to hawks by telling him his identity. in revealing a name that could only hold any significance to hawks through its relation to endeavor and what touya's existence implies about him, touya wielded a secret from endeavor's past to psychologically hurt hawks and shake his faith. it's just wild that he did it to both of them, pulled off flawlessly and with maximum drama, in rapid succession. legendary.
anyway, ppl tend to portray dabi as an endhawks anti, when funnily he's kinda more on the side of enjoying the fact they have a connection--granted, mainly as a thing to leverage to hurt them, bc he fuckin despises them (and granted, hatred in dabi's eyes is a complicated thing)--but still! he ain't in denial about endeavor's and hawks's relationship, he's an og! he's first in line! this makes his daddy issue allegations so much worse, but he doesn't care! and honestly i owe my life to him for his service in unearthing the truth; he's doing canon, in-text work to forcefeed the public endhawks crumbs that they didn't even want, and he deserves our utmost respect 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Tumblr media
part 3 - our hero academia ft. protective enji
my mind was too wrapped up in The Plot to notice the subtleties of when Press Conference Lady yells at endeavor post-raid--for one thing, i realize on a second read that she's actually kinda yelling at hawks. so much of the emphasis is on endeavor's past actions that i didn't pick up on a few key details. for one, when hawks discusses his murder of jin, the visual centers endeavor's reaction, solemn but accepting/calm.
Tumblr media
secondly, Press Con Lady speaks up right after hawks is done talking. thirdly, what she describes--not looking sorry, empty-seeming apologies, incompetence in the face of villains--apply as criticisms equally to hawks as they do to endeavor (notably not to jeanist, as he doesn't have a past or scandalous behavior to answer for).
Tumblr media
it's also at this time that endeavor looks more angry (just look at his frown in the panel above!) and actually gives some pricklier-sounding pushback, when before he was mainly resolved and remorseful.
Tumblr media
notably, he's translated as saying "we" and "our". ofc he's paying respect to his colleagues at large as well, but considering Press Con's criticisms are pointed most specifically and apply most to hawks and himself, he's strongly implying and acknowledging the pain that hawks has been through.
Tumblr media
as he goes on to speak, the word choice shifts away from "us" and "we" to "me" as he claims responsibility for what happens next and urges peoples' slings and arrows to aim at him alone--again, for the sake of his colleagues and family at large, but particularly for hawks in this moment.
the undercurrents are so understated in this scene, but the degree to which endeavor shifts the language and focus away from hawks and onto himself is profound. throughout mha, we've got plenty of thought bubbles showing how hawks feels about endeavor in outright terms, but not as many from endeavor about hawks, especially after all their dirty laundry gets aired out. but even without thought bubbles, how he feels about hawks even at the worst of times becomes perfectly clear.
(god they drive me insane lmao)

I LOVE your characterization of the crew so much. You ruined me (in a good way) for reading any other Kid Pirates fic. You set standards!
I love himbo Kid ngl but your Kid is in tune with canon more imo. Cuz tbh when he was first introduced, I got the sly vicious vibe from Kid, like a true pirate who is ruthless AND cunning. I kinda like his pre-timeskip design more bc of the coat and vibe. Now he's a beefcake (which I love) but now he falls into the "beef and dumb" trope easily. We usually associate muscular man with "muscle for brain" which is not entirely true for Kid. He's reckless but he ain't dumb. You highlight it in your fic. He's still violent, straightforward and sometimes silly in a way but you show how he could pick up sth without having Killer spell it out for him.
Speaking of Killer, hooboi, he finally got moments in wano. I don't care how canonly he's ugly HE IS HOT. And his relationship with Kid ahhhhhh.
We don't know much about the rest of the crew. But fandom collectively agree that Heat is best boi. YOUR HEAT MADE ME SQUEAL HOW IS A ZOMBIE SO CUTE. He's just?? soft brute yeah. How did you do this to me (cut scene to canon Heat calling Sanji pathetic. I- I refuse canon.)
And everyone agrees once again that Wire is freaky IT'S THE FISHNET. Lately I notice tho that he's not that brooding and silent in canon? Several panels show him smiling and even crying. He emotes quite a lot for brooding type. I start to think that he has resting "meh" face but when he emotes he's cute.
What an AMAZING message, thank you so much!! 😭❤️ And sorry it took me so long to reply.
Honestly, I couldn't agree more with your reflection on pre-timeskip vs. post-timeskip Kid. I'm not a fan of the dumbing down Oda pulled on his character. One example is the "pick your battle" change: in Sabaody, Kid openly says that he doesn't want to stick around to meet an Admiral and tries to get away before Kizaru arrives. After the timeskip, he suddenly thinks he can take on one (or even two) Emperor(s) by himself? He charges against Shanks + allies head on? Uuuhh, okay...
Thank you for saying it, KILLER IS HOT. 🔥 I don't think he's meant to be ugly in canon either - canonically beautiful character are often represented with the slanted droopy eye (ex. Hyori).
As for Heat, I gave my interpretation of him as the secretly soft one in the crew (well, up to a point), and I think somehow it got popular, probably not only thanks to Captive, but simply because the character gives off those vibes. I don't refuse canon, Heat is still one of the highest ranking members of the Kid Pirates, and if there's something that they value is strength, although they are often too blind to recognize it in certain forms. Sanji shouting for Robin is an example of it in canon, birdie is another in my stories. But they learn. Because you see that, despite the absurd value they give to strength and pride, Heat immediately bends the knee and begs for Kid's life when it's his crew being on the line.
Yes, Wire actually seems more open than I thought, or than what we were shown pre-timeskip at least. But that's okay, I'm going to incorporate it in Bonds.

For the ask game, can I ask for Zoro, Kenjaku and Yona.....
Thanks 🍀
Sure!
Zoro
Sexuality headcanon: This man is as gay as they come. Obviously a big part of his storyline revolves around women, but I've never gotten the vibe that he's into women. The things he says to men ALL the time though...I know what you are...
Gender headcanon: Cis or trans man, either works for me. I've read some really good fics/seen good art of trans Zoro and it makes a lot of sense to me and I enjoy it when I see it, but I'm not really fussed either way.
A ship I have with said character: Zosan forever and always is the OTP for me, and I'm a lot less of a multishipper with Zoro compared to Sanji for some reason lol. I've warmed up a bit on Zolu too but I do still prefer that as more of a platonic soulmate thing, and I know I said I see Zoro as gay but the t4t potential of Zoro/Kiku is quite good too so I'm willing to say he isn't 100% gay because of it.
a BROTP: Him and Chopper are so cute oh my god, the way Zoro acts like a proud/protective older brother to him is really really cute, that's his guy!!! I also LOVE the Zoro and Nami friendship, I think they antagonize each other for fun lmao but I also think they would be really close to each other and have their own special relationship where they can tell each other anything.
A NOTP: Zoro with any woman other than Kiku really, but I know Zoro/Robin is somewhat popular and I don't think I really get it all. I think their relationship/friendship is really interesting especially pre-timeskip where they had to learn to trust each other when Robin first joined the crew, but I think they're just friends who watch each other's backs.
A random headcanon: I'm surprised I don't see this hc more, and maybe it's just me projecting, but this man 100% has ADHD lmao. The way that he gets lost all the time, his hyperfixation on swords and also his dream, his head empty moments throughout the series, how he's somewhat impulsive, and I feel like the meditation/workout routine is how he tries to manage his concentration (also his anxiety).
general thoughts: I absolutely adore Zoro, and he was the one that surprised me the most. I knew about him before starting and thought he would be the "badass and stoic" character that ended up being flat compared to everyone else, and that's just not true. He's SO silly but also has a really good heart and character, that even though he is a loser he is also very cool at the same time. he's more of a simple character but there's still a lot to talk about with him and he's just had consistently strong writing throughout the entire series. I don't talk about him as much as Sanji or maybe even Robin but those three are tied for my fave strawhat.
(Kenjaku and Yona under the cut)
Kenjaku
Sexuality headcanon: Pansexual or bisexual, I think they've lived a thousand years and things such as gender aren't a factor in who they are attracted to. They truly just go for whoever they catches their interest at any given moment in time.
Gender headcanon: Uhhh all of the above lol. Man, woman, nonbinary, no gender, all the genders, whatever they're feeling and however they are perceived is their gender. I think it's similar to the sexuality, you live a thousand years and gender is a construct they abandoned a long long time ago. No matter what I think they're trans though, and all pronouns.
A ship I have with said character: I think every major ship with Kenjaku works for me, and I struggle to pick a favorite. Gojoken, Tenken, Takaken, Kenjin, Mahito/Kenjaku, even Sukuken I find kinda fun lol. If I had to pick one of these, probably Takaken, but I am big Gojoken and Tenken fan so they're close behind.
A BROTP: So the thing about Kenjaku is that they're a cringefail loser and they don't know how to make friends lmao. Maybe Mahito and Kenjaku? I know I put them in the ship category but I think they fit more here, the silliness and horrors they get up to together were a lot of fun to watch.
A NOTP: Hmm I'm struggling to come up with an answer lol. Uhhh I guess the one Heian era character I don't ship with them is Uraume, but I've never actually seen this ship anywhere. Oh I guess if there's any Kenjaku/Yuuji or Kenjaku/Choso I would not be a fan of that either.
Random headcanon: I feel like in the in between time of executing their thousand year evil plan, they sometimes go out every once in awhile like every 20-30 years to engage with human society again and acts like an old man who's never heard of technology lmao. I also think they would say super off putting things that make no sense to anyone like "Man this dish was so much better 80 years ago :(" and the waiter is just staring at this person who looks like they're early thirties at most.
General thoughts: I think they're the most interesting villain in JJK by far, their relationships spanning over a thousand years are messy and mysterious and span far and wide and the small pieces we get are something to theorize on endlessly. I think they are so effective in that they always are doing or saying something interesting/horrific/fun when on screen, but when they are gone that causes more anxiety for the reader. They're a very cruel and inhumane character, but there is almost a melancholic aspect to them too where they have this big plan, but it doesn't even seem to excite them that much. I'm hoping to do a Culling Games reread maybe in the summer mostly just for them tbh.
Yona
Sexuality headcanon: Bisexual but she doesn't know that askhfkl. Obviously she's attracted to men, that's known from the beginning of the series, but whatever she had with Lili....well...I think they had the potential to be more than gal pals given time....
Gender headcanon: Hmm I guess just cis woman. Haven't thought about any other gender for her, and I think that's honestly what she feels comfortable identifying as. If you got any trans/nb hcs for her though I'm open to it.
a ship I have with said character: Have you heard of Hak/Yona....i think they're neat...cool even....yeah most obvious answer lmao but this is really the only romantic ship I like with her (even if Lili/Yona has potential too and I can convince people on the yuri if no other brave soldiers are willing to).
BROTP: All of the dragons, easily. Hak/Yona might be the ship but those five are connected through fate, through lifetimes. it feels like a disservice to pick one over the other even, they all have such a love for Yona and Yona for them, that's found family right there.
A NOTP: I know some people ship Yona with Soo Won and they have maybe my favorite relationship in the whole series, but I just cannot see it as romantic, especially since both have grown so much. Yona's crush at the beginning of the series to me is more "there's this guy I care about a lot, it must be love" and I do think it was/is love, but that's more of a teenager crush that doesn't actually mean anything. Yona loves him, but in a different way from Hak I think.
Random headcanon: This goes more into theory rather than hc, and it may be dreadfully outdated considering how far behind I am, but I don't think Yona will be the ruler by the end of the series (and definitely not Hak for that matter as well). That said I wouldn't be surprised if that does end up being the case, and it would still make sense especially since Soo Won is sick (as far I know), but I feel like her role as this liberator and almost Robin Hood like figure where she travels around to aid people just makes perfect sense for her and the group as a whole. Undeniably Soo Won has been a really good ruler even if he got spot through, you know, murder lmao. Idk I think I need to reread and catch up to really stand by this, but these were my thoughts through a lot of the series.
General thoughts: Yona of the Dawn is my favorite shoujo and for good reason I think, and a very large part of that is how strong of a protagonist I think that Yona is. You see this really compelling arc over the course of the story of her coming of age that I think is really inspiring, where she very much comes into herself fully but also the relationships she develops with everyone are key to her success as well. One of my favorite characters ever go read Yona of the Dawn everyone (<- directed to me who needs to reread the series more than anyone else in the world)

Attack on Titan SFW Romantic HQs
Armin Arlert
Tumblr media
Attack on Titan isn’t the first series which comes to mind when I think of ‘Wholesome’. However, I shall take it upon myself to relay some general romantic head-canons involving some of AOT’s characters! This effeminate-looking blonde is obviously among the kinder members of the AOT cast. (Let us ignore the fact that he destroyed an entire port, killing an inconceivable number of innocents, children included.) …Anyways! If we put all that aside and fixate on his usually soft and innocent nature, there’s actually quite a lot of potential regarding fluffy head-canons for our lovely and cute island devil!!
For one, I believe that Armin would never ask go out of his way to approach and ask out someone which he has a crush on. He’s simply be too anxious to ever consider doing such a thing, even if Mikasa or Eren attempted to push him into doing it. Often times, the token of his affection would observe and notice how the cute boy blushes when they’re around, yet says nothing. He probably often engages in that glance and look away thing. (Look at your crush, they look at you, you swiftly turn away!)
In general, Armin strikes me as the blushy type, as he’d grow flustered and embarrassed quite easily. He often gets lost within his own head. That big brain of his likely fixated on the hundreds of things that could go wrong if he were to confess to someone he’s into. Mister Arlert would think things such as ‘What if he/she says no?? That’d likely make things awkward from now on…’ Sometimes when he blushes, Armin. shuts his eyes, squeezing them as tightly as possible. Along with the blushing and closed eyes, he occasionally allows an adorable, embarrassed whine to escape himself.
I imagine that handholding is among the things which flusters Armin. His palms would likely become all sweaty. This only serves to further up his anxiousness. Armin enjoys his head being patted, and cheek kisses. Receiving pre-time skip, giving during post. He certainly gained some confidence after the time-skip, but most of the aforementioned behaviors probably wouldn’t change! He’s still an innocent shy boy at heart.
Connie Springer
Tumblr media
Connie is.. canonically a bit stranger and more outgoing than Armin. In fact, I’d like to think that Connie is the type to specifically show off when his crush is around. The literal opposite of Arlert!
Picture a cute girl/guy (AKA you, the reader??) walking into the scout regiment’s mess hall. Jean and Connie both begin eyeing this individual. ‘She/he’s pretty cute..’ Jean remarks. Following this, Connie would be quick to make the first move, bragging about how many Titans he’s killed, or something else a tad bit unusual.
Connie has no qualms with throwing others under the metaphorical bus in order to get the upper hand and appear cool around his crush. He’d belittle all of his friends and laugh extremely loudly at his own jokes/insults. Anything to make everyone else comparatively look bad.
The short-haired scout has his sense of masculinity, and probably stands in front of his partner and holds a protective arm in front of them whenever there is perceived danger near.
Connie’s favorite form of affection is classic kiss on the lips. He’s seldom able to sit still long enough for hand-holding. The kid is too wild! Being the.. Sorta comic relief..? Of the main cast, it only makes sense for him to have such a goofy and frantic demeanor! Much like Sasha. RIP…
Jean Kirstein
Tumblr media
Oh I’m so excited to write for the horse-face. There so much untapped potential with this man.
First off!! We saw him acting out around Mikasa, so it can be concluded that he’s a heavily flirtatious guy. Similarly to what I see in Connie, I believe that Jean is the type to go out of his way to perform in front of his desired lover. He would find just about anything to gloat over. After the timeskip, his flirting is likely less braggadocio and more sexual.
Jean is extremely protective over his partners. He’d carry them if their feet hurt, threaten anyone who insults his lover, and of course, hold open doors. He walks with one of his strong arms wrapped around his partner. That’s his favorite form of affection.
He most definitely brags about his partner to others. Some people don’t believe that he/she exists, which frustrates Jean and results in the young man threatening to murder a fellow scout.
Zoro ??
Tumblr media
Looks like Zoro got lost again. So lost that he made it into an Attack on Titan post! Oh well, cannot be helped.
People express love in all sorts of different ways. Zoro isn’t the directly affectionate type and struggles with romantics. More specifically, his face often turns red in response to hand holding, flirting, or pretty much any way one could come on to him.
He’d go head over heels for a partner who’d train with him. He’d get a kick out of easily defeating his lover in sword fights, just as Kuina once did to him. Of course, the swords would actually be made out of bamboo. Roronoa would not battle someone he loves using his actual deadly weapons.
He grows a lot more affectionate while drunk… And fortunately, Roronoa is drunk much of the time. While intoxicated, the moss head who’ll hug onto his partner, aggressively ruffle their hair, or even lay his head on their lap.

Hey there! Just wanted to know if you could write a platonic Sanji x teen! Reader who sees him as a big brother, the reader is cute and innocent and is the sweetheart of the StrawHats. I just love when characters interact with kids cause its so stinkin wholesome.
Its completely ok if you wont do it and I understand that we all have things to do other than writing!
Please and Thank you! Have a good day/night.
Tumblr media
Platonic! Sanji x Strawhat! G/n! Teen! Reader
Summary: You were really happy to have a certain Strawhat cook as your big brother 💙
Tumblr media
- When you first joined the Strawhats, you were really nervous since you're one of the youngest (This is pre timeskip, you and Chopper have the same age, so yeah, you're 15 in this :)))
- Luffy, Chopper & Usopp are excited to have you in the crew, Zoro was skeptical at first but he warmed up to you eventually, Nami and Robin were happy, Franky and Brook were ecstatic while Sanji....
- Sanji doesn't know what to do with you lol
- Sure you shared the same appetite as Luffy
- Was good at cooking
- And you're adorable too so...
- Yep, you're officially his little sibling now :D
- Whenever Luffy got you (with Usopp and sometimes Chopper) into trouble (especially involving food), Sanji would be mad at ya'll, although he'll just slightly scold you while beating up the other three XD
- Whenever the crew was on board the ship or out in an adventure in a new island, you were always seen trailing behind Sanji, clutching his shirt as he protected you and the girls (which Usopp and Chopper protested at) from any kinds of danger
- Sanji teaches you his cooking techniques and you help him buy the freshest ingredients there were in return :3
- You would always volunteer to do the dishes but Sanji refused, so you set up the table instead (Sanji lets you do it, hesitantly tho)
- Expect to be spoiled during your birthday's, you'll get to eat the most delicious cake there is! (If you managed to eat some before Luffy devour the whole thing)
- One time, when you suddenly fell asleep during your night watch duty, the moment you woke up, you found yourself on your bed. You were confused and was surprised to know that Sanji was the one to tuck you in and took over your night watching :0!
- You thank him but he just dismissed you with his charming smile.
- "You're like a little sibling to me, so of course, it's a duty for me, as your big brother, to take care of you!"
- Let me tell you a secret, Sanji confesses to you (when you guys are alone) that he actually had a toxic family and tells you his horrible experiences with them. Shocked, you comforted him with your bear hugs and words of assurance
- "Who cares about those stupid people? You got me, the crew and all of the Baratie people! We're your family, Sanji! And we always love you :D!" You told him as he cried softly between your arms.
- Your bond with Sanji strengthened ever since that day
- You always have each other's back too!
Bonus!
+ When you just recently settled in the crew, you were wary about your fellow crewmates at first, so you decided to skip lunch and dinner
+ Later, Sanji brought you food and told you to eat and sat a few distance away from you to not scare you away
+ You were hesitant but the aroma of the delicious food drew you in, quickly gobbling the food as Sanji watches in amusement
+ You thanked the man profusely but Sanji just waves you off
+ "We're nakamas now, so you don't have to worry about getting hungry anymore!"
+ You have a gut feeling that this man will play an important role in your life
+ And he actually did ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

Can I ask your opinion? So, I feel like everyone into 3H is in love with Dimitri, but I can't connect with him. I don't dislike him, but I feel like there isn't much to his personality without all his various mental health issues. It's hard to get a feel on what he's really like, so I end up just seeing him as a walking ball of trauma and not a three-dimensional character. Do you have any thoughts on Dimitri himself and how to separate him as a person from his psychological issues? Thanks!
Hmm, I guess my first thought is that everyone resonates with characters differently and so if you don’t particularly feel connected to him, that’s not wrong. Fictional parasocial relationships are very similar to real-life relationships, so it follows that nobody is going to like every character. I can’t say that a portion of my love for his character doesn’t come from his mental issues because that’s something I personally relate to and feel drawn to in others. That’s just who I am and how I build relationships. There is also something to be said for the unavoidable way mental illness informs a person’s behavior and character, it’s as much an aspect of them as being born with blond hair or losing an eye.
That said, I will do my best to explain why I think Dimitri is wonderful. Not in spite of his mental illness, but because I don’t think that’s all he is.
So, Dimitri is, as he says, a very clumsy person. This unfortunately extends to his social skills. He has a lot of very socially awkward tendencies and a general lack of self-awareness. This contrasts with his innate desire to please people, or at least avoid upsetting anyone. The thing is, Dimitri doesn’t always completely understand what upsets people or how exactly they might feel. His childhood isolation left him rather emotionally unaware and desperate for the acceptance and approval of others. That’s not to say he doesn’t try to understand other people’s feelings, but it’s not an intuitive process. He has a habit of saying kind of dumb or uncomfortable things out of nowhere, which is most likely his real feelings coming out in rather inept ways. He means well, but he’s just so dang clumsy.
The desperation to be included and validated I mentioned, I think, can be seen in the way he tries so hard to make the other Blue Lions see him as a peer and equal all the while keeping himself rather closed off from them. Dimitri approaches conversations as a means of focusing on the other person, trying to make an appeal to them rather than as an interaction where both parties could be seen as vulnerable. Of course, just like most other socially awkward introverts, he opens up when he feels closer to the person, but that takes a while. Gotta unlock the supports, you know? Although it’s not necessarily obvious, his incredibly stiff behavior (especially pre-timeskip) and the way he switches between overly formal and awkwardly friendly in his interactions with people as he tries to figure out how to socially and emotionally navigate relationships really gives me the impression of someone trying desperately to fit in without even the faintest clue of how to actually manage that. He also does his best to avoid social situations, which, mood. Basically, Dimitri’s a big dumb massive introvert trying to act like he’s not.
FURTHERMORE, he is a dork. An absolute goof of a person. Dimitri canonically thinks so-bad-its-good puns and jokes are hilarious. His own style of telling jokes is saying things that may or may not have contextual humor in a normal voice and then claiming after the fact that he intended it as such. Now, his supports with Alois are absolute factual proof of the so-bad-its-good humor, but might I also direct your attention to the scene before the battle against Miklan in Conand Tower (the event name is “Tower in a Storm (Blue Lions)”). Basically, Gilbert is explaining the history behind Conand Tower and Dimitri says, in an incredibly earnest voice, “You’re very well informed, Gilbert. Please, tell us more.” This is a joke. Supposed to be, at least. The delivery is somewhat emphasized, but not in a recognizably sarcastic way. Gilbert, who knew Dimitri very well when he was young, realizes it’s a joke after a second. But there are other things Dimitri says that I believe are his bad “jokes” and since nobody knows him well enough to tell, they don’t call him on it. There’s no proof, but his line in the Lord’s intro where he says, “And here I thought you were acting as a decoy for the sake of us all.” to Claude has to be an attempt at sarcasm. Dimitri is oblivious, but not stupid. In his Goddess Tower conversation with Byleth, when discussing the topic of wishes, he says, “Perhaps it would make more sense for me to wish that we’ll be together forever. What do you think?” In a completely normal voice. Following are two speech bubbles of “...” before he laughs and proclaims that it’s just a joke and that he’s getting better at telling them. Now, this is a two-parter because I see this as both his horribly awkward tendency to say things he feels without thinking too hard beforehand as well as his silly deadpan style of “jokes”. Granted, he does apologize. Dimitri’s got socially awkward zoomer humor. It’s endearing.
Here is a video of Dimitri hitting on Byleth pre-timeskip. I’m not sure how far it goes to endear someone to him, but the mostly awkward and occasionally smooth attempts of Dimitri’s flirtations are absolutely a highlight of his character.
Now, this isn’t quite as cute as all that, but I think character arc and change do a lot for making a character feel more three-dimensional. Dimitri is hypocritically selfish. Although those are both negative terms, I don’t necessarily mean them as such, at least not in their totality. Both are things to overcome, which he does. And that’s why I feel like they’re a valid point of discussion when trying to explain the allure of his character.
The hypocritical part comes from the way he easily allows and forgives the flaws of others while constantly castigating himself for the same reasons. He says things that show an absurd amount of a lack of self-awareness. For example, he tells Edelgard, “Hm. You will prove a lacking ruler yourself if you look for deceit behind every word and fail to trust those whom you rely on.” All the while straight-up lying to and emotionally avoiding his friends. Dimitri also tells Marianne, when she is punishing herself for putting other people at risk, “What matters is that they came back safely in the end. You shouldn’t blame yourself for that.” Really, his C and B with Marianne is an exercise in hypocrisy. The standards Dimitri has for himself are incredibly, unattainably high. He’s setting himself up for failure in that way and, to an extent, knows what he’s doing because he knows that those same standards are too much for his friends and allies to meet. He wishes to take on everything himself. But, what I find so beautiful about this, is that Dimitri eventually realizes that he can’t do that. He is not strong enough to take on the weight of the world on himself, he comes to understand that it’s something he must allow himself to share with the people who care about him. He comes to realize that, as difficult as it is to accept, he is a weak person. Despite all of his introversion and inability to emotionally open up, he figures out that having a support system and allowing yourself to rely on people who love you is a necessity. Personally, I think this message is incredibly important in real life. Watching Dimitri come to that conclusion and argue it’s importance really rounded out his arc and journey as a person. Now, the relatability of this conclusion will differ, but I don’t think it has to do with his mental illness as much as it is a fundamental aspect of growth.
The selfishness is basically outlined above. Dimitri is selfish about his pain and secrets, purposefully and selfishly driving people away because he wants to keep the burden to himself. His vice is guilt and he indulges in the pain of it like an addiction. Hatred, too, is a drug. He thinks he needs it to keep going, even though all it does is bring agony to himself and others around him. Learning to accept and let go of these feelings is, again, something I think is important and a character arc that I really love, especially when you see him suffer as much as he does. Now, the execution of this is lacking, I admit. But that’s an issue for another time I think.
I am not quite sure if I did much to change your opinion, but this is all I can think of for now. There is probably a lot more than I’ve left out because I think about Dimitri far too much to be healthy. So, I’ll leave you off with some honorable mention aspects of his character that I think are super fun:
Pre-timeskip Dimitri has his hair tucked behind his ear. He can lift a wagon by himself. In the DLC, when faced with an impossible-to-open gate, it was not muscle man Balthus who said he couldn’t open it, but twinkish teen Dimitri. He’s not really smooth with one-liners. Like, at all. Notably, when attacking Manuela post-timeskip, he says, “Perhaps I should have appeared before you holding a bouquet of flowers, rather than the weapon that will end your life.” Adding to this, at one point, Dimitri fucked up a pick-up line so badly the girl came after him. Areadbhar has a mitten on it in the Azure Moon final picture. He breaks everything. His Crest activation ability even supports this, using twice the durability of any given Combat Art. One of his post-timeskip counselor messages is, “I lived in the slums for a long time, and I saw how the people there suffered from poverty and the ravages of war. There must be something I can do to save them." His room in the academy is right next to Sylvain’s, meaning that for almost an entire year Dimitri was a single wall away from hearing whatever nonsense Sylvain was getting up to. Dimitri is the only Lord that takes the throne and doesn’t abandon his people in some form or another.
And, finally, he is pretty sexy. And that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?

Takanobu Aone
Working in construction and still playing Volleyball was tiring for Aone. Yet he still did it. He enjoyed doing both, they made him happy. The only thing that didn’t was that he hardly got to spend time with (Y/n). They had their moments but their schedules were way different.
He’d be up at four in the morning ready to leave while (Y/n) was still sleeping in bed. He never wanted to wake up. Aone wanted her to get all her hours of sleep, so everytime he left he would bend down and leave a kiss on her forehead. This had her stirring in her sleep before grumbling a “I love you. Have a good day at work. Oh and ------------------”
Even if she couldn’t see it he was smiling. He patted her head and went left for work.
(Y/n) on the other hand slept in till seven. She’d be able to sleep an extra four hours before her job required her to be there.
It had been this way ever since they had decided to move in together. That was about three years ago.
They had first met the first year after they both graduated from high school. (Y/n) had been walking to catch her bus, when all of a sudden she saw the bus going past her. Her heart had dropped as she started running towards it, she waved her arms trying to stop the bus. She hated doing this and would normally let the bus pass but she needed to get to school this day. She had a presentation and it was a big part of her grade.
She was glad that the bus had stopped, she continued to run to it while taking out her wallet to pay for the bus fees. Her breath was heavy, she tried to compose herself before speaking again, “Thank you for stopping.” The bus driver smiled at her and said, “Don’t thank me, thank the guy over there. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have seen you.” The bus driver pointed to a man with a large frame. The first thing she noticed was his hair. And then it was his expression, it seemed like he just had a resting bitch face. But who doesn’t.
“Oh, okay.” (Y/n) then looked through the bus to find two available seats. One was by the light haired man, or on in the back...between two other men. She decided it would be best to take the one by the man who already helped her today. As she was making her way to the seat that was when the bus started to move. The force of the bus pushed her, this caused her to fall. But not on the floor. Nope she fell into a warm lap, she felt arms around her to keep her still.
When she looked up she saw the said man looking down at her, he had a clear blush on his face. She could feel her face heat up when she finally processed the situation. She quickly got off him and sat on the seat next to him. If her running didn’t take her breath away then she was sure that the blush on his face would have. It took her awhile before she spoke up.
“I’m sorry I fell in your lap. I’ve never been good at keeping my balance when the buses started moving.” She fidgeted with her fingers before turning to look at him, “And I just wanted to say thank you for telling the bus to wait. I really appreciate it.”
Aone turned to her, face less red and nodded his head. He gave a short grunt.
Now usually she would find people grunting at her a bit weird but..coming from this guy. Nah it made her heart swell. Her inner thoughts consisted of ‘Wow that was cute.’ ‘How can no words be that cute?’ ‘Why are you so adorable?’ But she said nothing, she nodded back with a smile before looking away. That was how the whole ride was. The bus came to a stop but (Y/n) didn’t stand up. The warm body that helped her stay warm in the cold bus did. She wanted to tell him to stay but she really couldn’t.
But something took her by surprise. The man had bowed in front of her as a way to say “Goodbye” without really saying much. She lightly returned it in her seat. And with that he left. She was in a haze, ‘That, was literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.’ ‘How can he be so nice?’ ‘Wait! I never asked for his name! Nice going (Y/n)’. But she just sighed and tried to push away the thoughts. She was probably never going to see him again.
Oh how wrong she was.
Aone happened to be early on that bus that day. He usually took the later one. But after interaction with her he wanted more. He was always so used to people avoiding sitting near him because they thought he looked scary but it somehow felt different with her. And they were so polite to him, so of course he got attached. He didn’t know if he’d see her again or if she’d take the same bus but he’d risk that chance. Just so he could sit next to her again. Just so he could hear her voice, it was sweet to him.
And there she was. This time waiting at the bus stop, breathing normal, relaxed. As soon as she stepped onto the bus and paid she looked for the man. When she found him she felt excited to see that spot away open. I mean of course she was a bit sad that no one seemed to want to sit next to him but screw that. It was her opening.
After weeks and months of sitting next to each other (Y/n) finally decided to ask for his number, and maybe a date. She didn’t like dragging out her feelings too long, she wanted to be directed. Plus all that time waiting and sitting next to him was already too long of a time for her. He was a bit taken aback by her request to go on a date but he wasn’t going to say no.
And that was how they got to now. Three years together, they had decided to move in together last year when they wanted to be around each other more. And it was great. They had a routine, his way was to go to work, get home, eat , sleep, get up, go to practice, go back home make some dinner for both of them, sometimes clean, and sleep till (Y/n) got there.
That was how her nine to five job was. She hated the hours but she enjoyed her job. She also loved coming home to find Aone asleep on their bed. He always fell asleep while watching tv while laying on his side. She changed into one of Aone’s shirts, that was way too big than her normal shirt but still found a way to compliment her body.
So she snuck under the covers and made her way over to him. Her arm wrapped around him, she kept her hand flat against his chest. And her leg found it’s way on top of his waist. Her face against his back as she gently rubbed her forehead against it’s muscular build. “Takanobu, I’m sorry I had to work today. I wish I could have spent your birthday with you.”
Aone had woken up once he felt her body against his. Hearing her say she was sorry wasn’t what he wanted to hear so he knew he had to reassure her. “It’s fine. You’re here now, that’s all that matters.” His voice was deeper than normal since he had just woken up from his nap.
“How about we both just say fuck it and call off tomorrow. We can go on a small trip and just spend it together.”
He grunted, “That would be nice.” He smiled as he closed his eyes. He enjoyed this, feeling her warmth against his back, feeling her so close to him. He loved to be the big spoon but he loved it even more when she did this. It was like he was wrapped around all her love. To him, it was one of the many ways that she showed him that she loved him, that she gave him all her love.
And for her, it was his way of letting her express that love. It was him telling her physically, “I love you and love you loving me the way you do. So please continue.” It made her whole body heat up from the affection she always loved giving.
Her forehead was still placed on his back. She took in his fresh scent, it was a smell she loved so much. A scent she always wanted with her, a scent she could call home, he was her home.
“Happy Birthday Takanobu. I love you.” She closed her eyes and fell asleep with her arms around the one thing she loved the most.
Wakatoshi Ushijima
Ushijima was a dedicated man, there was no doubt about that. From the moment (Y/n) met him she knew. She could tell just by watching him. His eyes were so focused on what he was doing, that look of determination was what drew her to him. She had never been a fan of sports herself, she liked to indulge in other things but one day her friend convinced her to come watch a game with her. She was going to decline but her friend said that the positions they made when they jumped or moved around would be good for her drawing reference.
So how could she have refused that. She took her camera ready to take pictures of the team and their poses when they jumped. She could have used online reference but she liked taking her own, most of the online references were hardly in any positions she wanted. She really was ready to be disappointed in getting the reference photos, that was when Wakatoshi had jumped up and hit the ball.
She didn’t want to be weird but she loved human anatomy. It was so aesthetically pleasing, the way the muscles moved, curved, bent, dented, anything. Male or female, human anatomy was just so beautiful. Not in any sexual way, just pleasing to look at. Flesh was a thing that had been so sexualized and deemed inappropriate by the media that she always hated to admire and enjoyed looking at it. Bodies were bodied, they didn’t need to be sexualized.
And in that moment that was all that went through her head. She completely forgot to take pictures. All she could think about the way the muscles clenched or moved. It was truly breathtaking. That was when she had gotten to his face, that look as stated before. She thought that expression was just, something she wanted to admire forever.
After that all was a blur, she wasn’t even focused on the game anymore. She was too focused on watching all the players movements. She didn’t even realize the same had finished, but she did notice that her friend had wanted her to come with them to get an autograph from some of the team members. So they went down. (Y/n) ended up getting separated from her friend by the other fan’s trying to get the same thing. That was when someone shoved her, which caused her to fall to the floor. She winced when her bottom came in contact with the hard floor. Just as she pressed her left hand down to help her get up someone stepped on it. “Ow, get off me!” She yelled as she pushed the person off her hand. She tried to push herself up but her hand hurt too much.
“Hey! Get back!” A deep voice boomed through the place. The people around did just that. A tall figure made its way to (Y/n). “Are you alright?” A hand reached down for her to grab. She took the hand that helped her up, “Yeah just a little. Thank you.” She looked up to see that it was the man she was admiring the whole time, Wakatoshi Ushijima. Her dumb words slipped through her mouth.
“Wow, your muscles are even better up close.” He let go of her hand, his face shifted from concern to confusion and a bit of anger? She noticed, “Sorry that’s not what I meant. I meant that you have a really good body.” Nope just as bad, “Wait, no that’s not right. It's nice to look at.” ‘Oh my gods please kill me.’ His facial expression was not getting any better. She really hoped she could fix this, well the only way she knew how was just to talk, but she seemed to be making it worse.
“I’m sorry. I just mean that, as an artist and a lover of human anatomy your positions when jumping and hitting the ball are just beautiful. And the look on your face while playing really captured how you feel about the sport. I’m sorry if what I said was weird, I didn’t mean it to be. It’s just, your positions are very much aesthetically pleasing to look at.” She bowed to him too afraid to look at his face. It was silent, the group around them was quiet, even he was quiet. She just assumed he had enough and left.
When she looked up she saw him clearing his throat as he had his closed fist up to his mouth. His cheeks were painted pink. He really didn’t know how to respond. Sure Wakatoshi had had people come up to tell him he was hot but never ‘Aesthetically pleasing’ and she also mentioned how he was focused, which meant she was watching his behavior as well. Shit to him this was a different kind of praise, and if he was being honest, he kinda liked it. The words that came out of his mouth were also something that he wasn’t expecting.
“You could draw me or take my picture any time you want. If that is what you want.” He said still facing away from her. Her eyes widened as she looked at him, there was no way she’d say no. “That would be great!” She dug through her bag and found a piece of paper and pen. She wrote down her number and name, “Call me whenever you have time! I’d love to hear from you.”
He turned to her to see the paper and the smile on her face. ‘Gods her smile is great.’ He took the paper from her hand, “Sure, I look forward to working with you.”
After that day (Y/n) had asked him different weeks or in months if she could take his pictures on his days off and he said yes. It had been his day off in official practice but not his personal one. While she took pictures he was serving and spiking. She took as many as she could. When she was done she told him as she started to put away her camera. “Thank you Ushijima. I really appreciate it.” She put her camera bag on her shoulder as she turned around to see him making his way to her. “Well, I guess I’ll leave you to it then.”
She didn’t want to leave but she also didn’t want to take up too much of his time. Just as she was about to leave he stopped her “Uh, (L/n).”
She turned to look at him, “Yes Ushijima?”
“Do you think, maybe, we could go get some dinner actually?” Whipped the sweat off his forehead with his shirt.
He had asked her so casually with a hint of shyness. Which she liked very much. “As mutuals or as a date?”
He paused before dropping his shirt to look at her. “A date.”
Her camera bag nearly fell off her shoulder, “Yeah. I’d like that.”
That was seven years ago.
Their relationship had blossomed since that day and they enjoyed every minute of it. Especially days like today.
(Y/n) made sure that Wakatoshi was busy, she made sure he went on so many errands before he got back home. She had to make sure everything was perfect for when he got home.
So when he came home to a dark house he called out her name. “(Y/n)? Are you here?” He saw some lights shining from the kitchen so he made his way there. His eyes widened when he saw what was displayed. A hand painted banner, balloons and his favorite cake with his favorite food dish displayed for him. (Y/n) stood there with a rectangle box in her hands.
“I know you might have been thinking it was rude of me to not say happy birthday when we woke up. Or that I made you go on all those errands but it was so I could do this. Happy Birthday Wakatoshi.” She had a smile on her face before she walked towards him with a smile. She brought him into a big hug and held onto him. He held her back, he tried to hold back some tears.
Every year she did this for him, and it made him feel like it made up for all the times he never got to have this with his mother. Sure in that moment he didn’t mind as much since he didn’t think many people did it. Hell he never even cared about his birthday before. That was until (Y/n) made a big deal about it. She would always tell him, “How are birthdays not important to you? They celebrate you! At least to me it makes me want to celebrate it more. It was the day you were born, if you weren't then I would have never met you. I would have never been able to fall in love with you. Ah, thinking about it makes me sad.”
Just as he was about to speak she cut him off by pulling him to the chair in front of the cake. “Before you say anything you have to make a wish and blow out the candles.” She smiled as she sat down on the chair next to him. He nodded and closed his eyes thinking of a wish. ‘I wish everyday with (Y/n) would be just as good as the next.’ He kept his eyes closed as he blew on the candles. He heard clapping and then the lights turning on.
Wakatoshi opened his eyes to see the cake was pushed back. And now the box that was in her hand was now placed in front of him. He looked at her confused, “Go on, open it.”
So he did. He opened the box, once he saw what was inside he felt his hands shaking lightly. He just stared at it for a little longer than he needed to.
“I know we weren’t talking about having any. But I guess after that one session we forgot to use protection in the heat of the moment. If you didn’t want to keep it I...I don’t know what we would do but-” She was cut off with Wakatoshi getting up from his seat. He had made his way to her so fast. He dropped to his knees and placed his head on them. “I love you. I love you so much.”
(Y/n) could feel the top of her pants getting wet. She heard light sobs come from him, she could feel her eyes tear up. She expected him to be happy, but to cry? No, but she was glad he was that happy. “I love you too Wakatoshi.”
Later that night Wakatoshi had fallen asleep on the couch. His head rested on his arm rest, a pillow between his legs, and one of his hands resting against his head. (Y/n) stood in the doorway drying her hands, she smiled at his sleeping figure. She left for a brief moment before coming back with a blanket in her hand. She got on the couch in the empty spots that Wakatoshi wasn’t taking up. She squeezed herself behind him which caused him to scoot forward.
Even if he was sleeping his body had memorized this behavior since she had done it many times before. Her face laying on his shoulder, her arm around his torso and her leg on his waist. She pulled up the blanket with her to give them more heat.
“(Y/n)?” Wakatoshi called out lightly.
“Yes Toshi?” She whispered in his ear as she kissed his neck lightly.
“Thank you for today.” He is free hand shifted to grip her hand, he intertwined his fingers with hers.
“You don’t need to thank me Toshi. I did it because I love you. But I’ll accept it, so you’re welcome.”
“Do you think we’ll always stay like this?”
“In this position? No you might shift and end up spooning me.”
“No. Like, do you think we’ll always be together?”
His question made her heart ache. “Do you want us to?”
“Yes.” He answered with no hesitation.
She felt a smile appear on her face. “Then yes. I’ll love you till the day I die. Better yet, I’ll love you till our next life. And the one after that. I’ll love you beyond death.”
She kissed his neck one last time before they both fell back to sleep. It was one of the best ways they could sleep. Wrapped around holding onto each other. Never letting go, being able to live off of each other's love and warmth was all they could really ask for.

The Real Story of Zosan
Pairing: ZoSan
Summary: My observations of these two characters and how they've developed their relationship from pre-timeskip to post-timeskip. I think this is how the story of Zosan goes from a realistic point of view.
Please note that I am not trying to say this is exactly how it went. Most of the parts are due to my imagination, observation as well as analysis, and I would love to know how you'd interpret their interactions. There are parts that will obviously be made up, but hopefully it makes sense on how I filled in the blanks between the canon stories.
Baratie Arc
It was all still new to him.
The rubber kid who could stretch his arms out and bloat his stomach to the size of a hot air balloon, the suspicious red haired navigator who had a habit of stealing and manipulating, and the long nosed liar who boasted about his thousand men at sea when, in fact, he had just been a leader of a kid's gang. And now there is this womanizing idiot who turns to mush at every woman in sight; though, even he had to admit the food was fucking delicious.
He was almost in awe seeing the hearts appear in the blond's eyes when the navigator gave him a hug, as a gratitude for the free food she had coyly drawn out of him.
A bunch of weirdos, Zoro thought, not knowing how weird it could truly get after entering the Grand Line.
On the other hand, Sanji hardly took notice of the green haired man sitting amongst the long nosed man and the cute red haired girl, whom he believed was called Nami. Despite the fact that she was flirting with him to get free food out of him, he didn't mind because food did not equate in value with money. Only he and Zeff knew this, to the core of their beliefs, as the bag of gold was truly useless when faced with their starvation.
Not that Nami was starving, she was just beautiful and Sanji had a weak spot for beautiful women!
Call him a masochist, but he loved being used by women, or anything related to women.
After all, other than Zeff and his kitchen staff, women were the only ones emanating with warmth and love when he was just a young boy.
What made Sanji notice the swordsman was, of course, the fight with Mihawk. He didn't know the guy, but there was a pang of guilt, of terror sprouting in his heart the very moment Mihawk sliced across his chest. What did he fear? For this guy to die?
A part of him wanted Zoro to give up his pride. What does a dream matter if you are dead?
He is such an idiot, he thought, who'd rather die with pride intact than continue living for his dreams. But another part of him, secretly tucked away at the depth of his soul, trembled. Much like a tsunami hitting the land. A man who relished in the thin line of life and death, willing to give up everything for his dream. Sanji had never felt so simultaneously terrified and enraptured by somebody before.
The calm waters inside of him stirred, and the dreams he had left behind in hopes of repaying his old man clutched his heart.
With this new feeling in his chest, he knew he had to look for his ocean.
The All Blue.

Note
i’m mostly a girl groups + exo fan, but a while back i started watching a lot of seventeen’s reality/variety show episodes on youtube thanks to an artist on twitter that drew svt members as haikyuu boys!! they’re both so chaotic and funny it’s such a perfect crossover
this one’s my favorite so far! (plus the reply) it’s based off of these two episodes (one and two) where they were divided into two teams and they had to race each other on an inflatable obstacle course
there was also another episode (this video is what i came across first before the episode itself and it’s still my favorite something about the editing just kills me) a long time ago where they went on a trip somewhere and then they decided to play hide and seek to determine who would have to clean up after they ate dinner and i want to draw hq boys as this SO BAD like this 100% looks like something they would do at a training camp (pre-timeskip) or something like a show featuring the jpn national team like what the twitter artist did
some timestamps that i found funny or could see with the hq boys are:
(1:13) IDK WHO’D BE CURLED IN THE CORNER UNDER THE CHAIR BUT JUST THE IMAGE OF ANY ONE OF THESE PRO OLYMPIAN ATHLETES TRYING TO MAKE HIMSELF AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE SO HE WON’T GET CAUGHT IS ACTUALLY REALLY CUTE
(2:00) hinata is DEFINITELY woozi getting his mouth covered by dokyeom (i want to say dk is bokuto simply because of what happens to him as seen from 3:09 onwards THE IMAGE OF BOKUTO TRYING TO SQUEEZE INTO THE CLOSET AAAHHHHH HELP HIM)
(5:22) this is such a mood
the previous episode was also pretty good too, i’ll be referring to this video for the timestamps
(0:45) atsumu is just hoshi in this entire video why can i see this happening to him
(2:06) THE MUSIC HEIRIFJDJSNSBN this could be applicable to any boy tbh
(2:33) atsumu singing along to the song playing while also doing those growls and laughs AHHH SO CUTE atsumu my beloved
(3:38) THIS IS WHY I WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU IT’S SO FUNNY AND I CAN SEE THIS WITH ATSUMU like they’re all driving on the highway and they pass by the exit that would take you to atsumu and osamu’s hometown and atsumu’s like HEY MA HOUSE’S OVER THAT WAY!!!! YA JUST PASSED IT!!! YA ALL WENT PAST MY HOUSE HEY
(4:21) i saw him and immediately thought of kageyama he’d look so soft in that outfit and the way he flops face down on the bed too
(5:01) ATSUMU AND SAKUSA PLAYING TABLE TENNIS TOGETHER atsumu’s doing all those spins and stuff and sakusa just. Leaves
(5:37) i immediately thought of hinata in this shot ;;w;; like timeskip or not i would let him rest his head in my lap while patting his head awawawawaw
this was so long i’m sorry fjdjsns i just wanted to share this with someone this crossover is currently taking over my brain—🌸💫
oh gosh here's the thing : i love svt,, i fell in love with their personalities before i fell in love with their music because their variety shows / going seventeen is godtier entertainment !! so believe me when i tell you that this ask just spoke to me >_<
ahhh the inflatable race art is so so accurate oh my gosh the characters they chose as dino/jeonghan and hinata as seungkwan is just the cherry on top.
pre-timeskip/olympians hide and seek :
(1:13) I really wanna imagine this as bokuto and/or ushijima and jeonghan at (1:16-18) as hinata or atsumu lmao like the chaotic lil smile ?? unmatched
(2:00) hinata as woozi bec they are both smol hahaha but yes yes bokuto as dk because no joke the personalities just fit as well ??
(5:22) that’s just kags after the game,, mans is tiredt™
family trip :
(0:45) / (3:48) YES YES ABSOLUTELY ATSUMU = HOSHI NO QUESTIONS ASKED I know Atsumu is a libra but Hoshi radiates big gemini energy and I feel like it fits Tsumu as well
(2:12-16) dk and vernon are just kagehina sharing a single braincell
(2:33) woozi is bokuto hyping him up in the back and hao is sakusa wondering why he got stuck in this car with them but also vining along and *saves tsumu’s life*
(4:21) KAGS IN THAT EXACT OUTFIT ?? THE BOYFRIEND MATERIAL OF IT ALL
(5:01) YES !! PLEASE !! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT
(5:37) NO PLS IM SO SOFT FOR THIS MAN ALREADY
in exchange i would like to offer you a video back hehe
svt goes on another trip, but i'm specially thinking of the part where they play foot volleyball bec imagine that with the olympians and co. hehe >:)
(5:29) scoups = bokuto you can’t tell me otherwise
(5:40) shua = kuroo please him trying to show off a lil (but also failing his first serve) ;-;
(5:50) hoshi = hinata or kags bec babies got a lil too excited lmao
(6:02) shua/scoups/seungkwan = bo, hoshiumi, hinata
(6:20) vernon = suna and/or sakusa -- sleepy boys wouldn’t join til later
(7:34-39) mingyu = atsumu, I don’t take constructive criticism on this
(9:40) scoups/dk = aran and kuroo
(9:45 onwards) jeonghan/yoonzino = iwa and hao at (10:30 onwards, but particularly 10:43) = hinata or kags
++ more fun vids to imagine the hq boys as members -- bungee jumping with the olympians, go kart racing with karasuno, the tag with fukurodani + nekoma, playground with seijoh.
sorry my reply is a lil long too,, got carried away >_<

Question do you like WCI arc? What are your thoughts on it? What do you like or do you not like about it?
hi anon thanks for asking me this question XD *cracks fingers* hoo man this is gonna be long. To anyone, please don’t get offended on what I am going to write- just in case you get the wrong idea.
well, before I start I have to admit that I am a BIG *COUGH* Sanji *COUGH COUGH HACK* fan. And the idea of Sanji Year excited me nonetheless when it first came out, along with the Vinsmokes and marriage theme. I expected a lot of things happening during this arc. And in one side, I do am pleased with the revelation of Vinsmokes and all the new characters. I liked them, however I have to really say I am really displeased with Oda’s writing during this entire arc.
The entire arc was a disaster for me. Not because I expected big things or so. Ever since Sanji’s second backstory was mentioned briefly by the wedding invitation, I already expected this arc will full of cliches and oh-my-god I hate cliches so much. Yet I put my faith in Oda- because maybe he will pull shit out nicely like he always did. But no, we got a horrible rushed-off writing instead.
My guess it’s because Oda announced Year of Sanji back in 2016, and in result, he was rushing himself to write this arc and it ended up having a horrible writing. The idea of this arc was nice- but it was lacking execution. If you have been reading what my friend Malky wrote @sleepdepravity about this arc, I agree most of it with her- this arc has no point of character development. Sanji is kind, but the flaunting of that fact in this arc is only shoving that idea in the reader’s face- to make people go “Ooooh Sanji is so kind he is a salvation angel” instead of actually making this a redemption or some short.
The Straw Hats are adults, at this point- character development might not really presented and it was obvious especially ever since the timeskip. They are solid and are collected. And then suddenly this arc happens. If this arc is only going to show how harsh the New World is, it’s not. Because during the entire arc I don’t even get scared at all that Sanji or anyone is going to be killed for that matter. We had that heart attack that Law might get killed back in Dressrosa, but no. Also, apparently Law’s hand can be sewn back just nicely in the end of the arc. It makes me losing the feel that Sanji might actually lose his hands in this arc. Because, for hell if I knew- they could be sewn back just like ho Law’s hands were.
Most of people are disappointed that the SH are separating again, but for me- it’s to be expected. Especially that back in Dressrosa we got mossywara as a group with Luffy. So it’s to be expected that guruwara will be the only team presented in this arc. With addition of Pedro and Carrot in the gang, that was acceptable. I liked the minks when they were first introduced. But then, Pedro and Carrot joining SH on their trip out of nowhere is way too random. Kinemon, Bartolomeo, and Cavendish joining the war as a gang is actually more established than Pedro simply joining by -assigned-. Carrot joining the gang was written out nicely, however I am displeased on how she is portrayed after that.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Carrot as a character. But don’t you think she is too overpowered? Hey, it’s great to get a strong, badass female character. And she is cute too. HOWEVER- CONTEXT IS she is YOUNG, and she was joining the trip RANDOMLY. She never been outside before. Yet she could stand up against BM’s troops? Dude. Remember the SH back in the early days? Remember how crazy strong Zoro depicted as? He was still struggling and BADLY too at some of low-rank enemies. This is Carrot’s first adventure out of Zou. And she could handle things NICELY without getting much injuries. Even if she is depicted as a strong character, this kind of writing is just too rushed for her character.
Next is Pudding. Oh God. PUDDING. I LOVE LOVE LOVE PUDDING SO MUCH. When she was first appeared, I already liked her cute attitude- and hell, I wouldn’t mind IF she stayed cute like that at all. And then there was EVIL PUDDING revealed with the memory powers. Dude, that really makes me into her. HOWEVER then Oda decided to fuck things up. Because one second, she was shown with a flashback with Lola and then the next second, she was evil. And then, suddenly she was crying just because a MAN calling her THIRD EYE BEAUTIFUL. The backstory was cool. But… are you SERIOUS??? Then she decided to fall in love with SANJI JUST BECAUSE THAT ONE LINE??? I wouldn’t mind if there was MORE BUILD UP between the two. Maybe like— make their exchanges longer during the pre-wedding scenes??? So Pudding can be more touched by Sanji’s gentleman-y and kindness aftermath??? But come on… the build up was so lacking it makes Pudding like an inconsistent little kid. Come on. Also, give us more screentime of that memory power won’t you Oda? What’s the use of mentioning it if you aren’t going to make Pudding USE IT???
And then there’s Big Mom herself. As many have pointed out about Big Mom, it makes ZERO SENSE that she wanted everything to live in peace BUT THEN SHE CLAIMED PUDDING’S THIRD EYE AS UGLY… WHAT??? It bugs me out especially that she is a Yonko. Strong and powerful. One second she agreed to marry her child with Capone for power, but next second she tried to murder the Vinsmokes to gain their power- I mean- dude??? that was so random????? She could’ve go along with the marriage like all the other times but she decided to go against a fucking nationality filled with assassins out of all deals??? What makes her to think of that??? Why didn’t she murder the other marriage dealers instead??? Didn’t she knew the Vinsmokes were rumored to be so strong even if they actually was clueless in this fucking arc? There was no caution to the Vinsmokes at all?????
And now here comes the Vinsmokes. BRO. You were rumored to be a strong ass kingdom and then they are… this STUPID??? I love the power rangers-esque outta them. But like… dude. You are a fucking nation with science basis. And they are apparently so stupid. Falling on BM’s trap just LIKE THAT? You are trying to make a deal with a PIRATE. Are you expecting things to go simply as that? You have troops. What kind of royalties are you? There wasn’t any soldiers at the wedding party. COME ON. YOU ARE TOO DUMB. Also if I were Judge I might as well kept Sanji for his brain and use him as the tactical commander. Or maybe at least KEEP HIM FOR A FUCKING BLOOD AND ORGAN SUPPLY IN CASE ANY OF THE FRONT ROW TRIPLETS ARE INJURED IN A FIGHT. ARE YOU SERIOUSLY TRYING TO BE AN EVIL GROUP OF PEOPLE? THEN YOU FAILED WAYS TO BE EVIL GENIUSES. YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO BE EVIL GENIUSES.
And now I am talking about the Straw Hats. Jinbei joining the SH statement was EPIC but like… then I felt nothing. There was no impact to that or whatever. The only MVP in this whole arc is Brook. And I love Luffy. At least bless the Gods that he never changed. Nami in this arc was… horrible. She is suddenly just being a whiny moody kid. She kicked ass nicely in the last chapter action but like- during the entire thing she was just…. there. We are not seeing much action from her NEW WEAPON that was actually there to be a new fighting spotlight. I mean… come on???
And now we got Sanji. Oh god oh god oh god. Why.
I am not going to comment on how he is crying and shit or beating up Luffy. I actually understand why he does all of that. My only concern here is in the WRITING ON ALL OF THOSE SCENES AND NOT HOW SANJI iS ACTING DURING THE WHOLE THING. Sanji is still Sanji, and how he acts is actually still very in-character and it was nice. Including how stupid he is to think to leave the SH. And then we suddenly got Sanji saving the Vinsmokes on the fucking table scene- like a salvation angel coming from the depths of hell. I knew it was supposed to be symbolic, but it was FAR TOO CLICHE and this fucking arc is shoving down “LOOK AT HOW KIND SANJI IIIISSSSS” in reader’s face too much and I’m hella sick of it. You could’ve done that WITHOUT THAT. YEAH SURE. EVERY OP FANS WHO FOLLOW THE ENTIRE OP SHOULD’VE KNOWN THAT SANJI IS NICE ALREADY TBH YOU DOn’T NEED TO FLAUNT IT OVER AND OVER TOO MUCH SLKGSJKGjsKGS
Also Sanji’s second backstory is suddenly changing EVERYTHING about him. It makes as if the first backstory about starvation never happened. No, of course the readers know it’s still there. But suddenly in this one arc it’s treating like it was all that was about- making him sounded like an entire new and different character instead of the Sanji we are all know all these whole time. Character revealations are good, guys. But last time it happened- it was Luffy with his second backstory(ASL). It didn’t change our view on Luffy at all. However, on Sanji- everything did change. All of sudden people are talking about “look at how weak he was! He is not weak anymore! Look at how he never had a proper family and now he does!” when in fact that past was already long gone and Vinsmoke Sanji was dead- he was already reborn as simply Sanji and he was not weak or not having a family. This arc is talking as if he was never having anyone when he actually does.
There’s also Reiju- talking that she couldn’t disobey her father. Yet she occasionally does. This mechanism was confusing in any matter. Also there was the Vinsmoke brothers showing emotions at each other… everything is too inconsistant. Sanji’s resolve to be a chef is not even as strong as I thought it would be. and especially for fucks sake he is a prince, and he is aware that he is one. The fucking kingdom’s system is too fucked up even though I have to admit I liked the kingdom’s concept…
And suddenly I fogotten what else I wanted to write and everything ended up going into a loop without clear points of what I wanted to actually point out /shot
WCI has too many characters to introduce and to be offered. The thing with BM’s head chef is also written as too sudden. I have no surprises if Sanji and that cook is going to have a battle in the future chapters. The classic countdown thing is a thing in OP battles, like in Dressrosa- the time limit existed before the birdcage closes. During this arc, there was the one day to marriage- and the runaway- and to calm down BM’s rage. Time limit wise, it was great to portray all of the characters hurrying and all however- WRITING wise, it was not good to rush things just to make everything fits in into the deadline.
Events in CP9, Marineford, Dressrosa and many many others were having time limits on them, however they were not as rushed as how WCI’s writing was. Oda could’ve managed to sort out more build ups to make this arc flows better thus fitting all of the characters backstories without making things too cliche or rushed.
New World is a harsh place. And I have to admit- I would’ve prefered Sanji to lose his hands or at least a leg. Or maybe even die to make the whole thing flow better. If Oda is trying to portray New World’s harshness with WCI war- the least he could make is to make the characters severely injured- or at least leave some mark off permanently to show how harsh this adventure is.
I am too tired with this arc’s horrible writing that my mind focuses on things to enjoy like “oh look at how uke sanji is in this arc” /shot
Thanks for reading my stupid rant and I hope none of you gets this to the wrong side… hopefully X”D
I am pretty sure i wanted to rant more about this arc but I forgotten what I am displeased with halfway to this answer wwww :”D

Hi! I hope it's alright for me to submit a headcanon to you! I have actually realised that all the people that Law has loved dearly/held affection for - Lami, Corazon, and now, Luffy - are all pretty similar personality-wise: Cheerful and happy with smiles that can light up a room. I also like to think that Law might have been a bit prickly around Luffy in the beginning as he realised how similar they were; if Luffy were to die (like Lami and Cora), he wouldn't have been as attached.
Bless this post, I feel pretty much exactly the same.
One of the reasons I can think/hc for why Law went from generally laid back and quite carefree pre-timeskip to very stoic, serious and brooding post-timeskip is to do with his awareness of Luffy’s similarity (especially) to Corazon.
He risks capture for his Devil Fruit/bounty in general at Marineford to save Luffy “on a whim”. I’ve seen some people argue that he did this ultimately to set up the future alliance, but he was surprised to see Luffy at Punk Hazard - he couldn’t have telegraphed his arrival, or if they were ever gonna meet again, theoretically. Therefore I’ve got it set up in my head that obviously part of saving Luffy was spontaneity, but maybe part of it was seeing that same liveliness and silliness at Sabaody that he saw in Cora ages ago. ;;;;
And then in terms of the alliance hoo boy do I have so many feelings for this ;~;
Law’s constantly saying that it’s strictly for the achievement of a common goal, no need to get friendly, etc etc; this would all imply on a surface level that he probably just doesn’t give a shit about Luffy or his crew in that sense, Caesar and Robin both make comments about betrayal so it all looks very very suspicious at the beginning because I was like oh, that’s a clear allusion that something’s gonna happen in future lmao
But now in my mind…after Dressrosa, after everything Law said about Luffy and his crew - “the Strawhats have worked miracles”, attempting to buy time for them by saying “Strawhat and I are peers!” to Fujitora, trying to indirectly save Luffy from harm by distancing himself when he says “this alliance is over - if you let me out I’ll kill you!” and even leaving the one thing he wanted to attain in Luffy’s hands, saying it’s “down to mugiwara-ya now”. swearing to either see it through with Luffy or die by his side, because he got Luffy into this conflict….I don’t believe for a second that was all said to piss Doflamingo off, it’s a huge show of confidence and respect in him.
This is all a massive contradiction to his previous attempts to stay away and clearly shows he gives a shit about protecting Luffy. He feels guilt for dragging Luffy into this - as evidenced by how he tells Robin, panicked, that he’s the one who dragged Luffy into it. In my opinion, there’s obviously the instinct for Law to be able to protect someone from Doflamingo, considering how much trauma he went through, but the special allusions to Luffy, dying by his side, leaving his ONE GOAL completely in Luffy’s hands - that really shows how much deeper below the surface it runs and it might just be because he’s found someone stupid and idiotic, someone that fucks up and does impulsive and clumsy things - someone like Cora. This implicit trust he places in Luffy isn’t something the Surgeon of fucking Death shows a lot, yet he’s basically been assimilated into the crew, going along with their traits and whims and general craziness.
The initial distancing of himself, as well as his attempts to drive Luffy away from the alliance during Dressrosa, in my mind, is an attempt to save Luffy, a very Cora-like figure, from Doflamingo – Law couldn’t protect Corazon, but just maybe he can protect this kid who’s just as carefree and smiling as he was. And then he sees Luffy’s determination to aid him in return, achieving his goal, and his overall happy/pestering/cheerful demeanour around Law; his similarity to Corazon both draws and repels Law because he’s scared of losing Luffy  - whether you like to interpret that as romantic or platonic, that’s a fuckton of sacrifices they’re making for one another. I basically really like the idea that Law is able to change from this sullen, serious man who’s clearly on edge for most of post-timeskip about Doflamingo and Kaido, someone who is literally on almost a suicide mission in Dressrosa, to someone able to engage in silly petty stuff like “i don’t like bread!” and “mugiwara-ya, what about asking me? [about momo joining the alliance, even though he’s fine with it]” - he basically changes into someone who cares about being alive, cares about how his input is seen and his closeness in the alliance w/ Luffy.. Similarly, Luffy literally owes his life to Law [I feel like that’s something people often overlook in their dynamic for some reason…idk maybe it’s just not as acknowledged as much as I’d like].
In Dressrosa, both times where Law was presumed dead or fatally wounded, Luffy’s initial reaction, dare I say it, was almost on par with Ace’s death. He clenched his jaw so much that his mouth started bleeding. When he shakes Law, his voice is trembling, and when he saves Law from being smashed up by Doflamingo w/ Haki…the look he gives Doffy is just insanely fierce and shows the drive to protect obviously goes both ways. Luffy’s really taken to Law, honestly; the attribution of a silly nickname, seeing his one wish through, saving his life in return…the dynamic they have is so cute and I fully agree it’s because Luffy is inherently on the same level of closeness and trust to Law as Corazon was. qwq
edit: I should also add that if Oda ever writes Law out of the story/makes him betray Luffy or die as a result of betraying Luffy I will be very fucking mad because it will have undone all the subtle nuances his character has developed towards actually liking the Strawhats.
(fuck me that went on for ages. probs makes no sense and goes off tangent a lot oops ;;;;; thank u for prompting me to write a whole novella about this lmfao)

Ranking All 50 One Piece Anime Arcs Up to Wano (Yes, Even The Filler)
The Wano arc is in full swing, with the latest episode finally bringing us an amazing first clash between Luffy and Kaido. However, with Wano, the number of One Piece arcs (including filler) has been brought up to fifty, and that seems like a great time to rank them all.
  50. Buggy's Crew Adventures
This isn't really an arc so much as a sigh of relief after the runaway train of emotion of the last few episodes of Arlong Park. You can laugh at Buggy for a bit after watching Nami's soul get ripped apart (and then put back together again).
49. Post Alabasta
You know video game sidequests that are basically around to level up your specific partner characters so that they don't get immediately wiped out in boss fights? This is the anime filler arc version of that. It's fun, though.
48. Foxy's Return
I loooooove Foxy and I looooove the Davy Back Fight arc. But Foxy's Return doesn't quite hit home. It might be because we last saw Foxy six episodes ago, but it truly speaks to Foxy's character that he'd try to make a grand, dramatic return after he got the crap kicked out of him so recently.
47. Spa Island
Foxy returns again in Spa Island, though this filler arc is mostly notable for the fact that Luffy uses Gear Third to split an artificial island in half. That alone wins this arc points.
46. Warship Island
Warship Island isn't a bad filler arc, just a victim of poor placement. It comes right after Loguetown and right after the Straw Hats have each declared their dreams. So it becomes a pit stop arc, like the Straw Hat crew getting gas and snacks before they head out on the Grand Line.
45. Little East Blue
I like to think of Little East Blue as a celebration of pre time skip One Piece, where the Straw Hats get (deservedly) celebrated for a bit. It's cute and it's a nice prologue to the Strong World movie.
44. Z's Ambition
The filler arcs that precede the movies are an odd bunch, as they tend to end with the main villain of the movie showing up in the last five minutes and declaring their plans. So it's hard to enjoy them on their own. That said, Z's Ambition has enough action that even if you don't watch Film Z (but you should, as it's great), you won't really mind the cliffhanger finale.
43. Straw Hat Separation
After Kuma wiped out the crew, this batch of episodes shows where they all ended up. And it's mainly a montage of Straw Hats being confused. And don't get me wrong—the Straw Hats do confusion like nobody's business. But you get more out of their separation in the Post War arc when they finally get around to business.
42. Diary of Koby-Meppo
Koby is a character that has always deserved more time, so getting a few episodes devoted to him and Helmeppo training to be Marines is welcome. Also, my dude Garp shows up for the first time, which means that I've rewatched these two episodes FAR more than I should.
41. Goat Island
Goat Island doesn't feel as "classic" as G-8, nor is it as entertaining as Ocean's Dream. In fact, it's about as fluffy as the goats that appear in it. But a three episode arc where Chopper talks to goats and Luffy doesn't beat up a villain but rather causes him to get shipwrecked? I'm FOR it.
  40. Chopper Man Special
Chopper Man has Chopper in a cape. It's worth it for that. Please @ me. Chopper Man, you're my hero, and I hope you one day get a Chopper Man & Sogeking Save The Grand Line special.
  39. Romance Dawn
Romance Dawn establishes a lot of things that will become classic tropes in One Piece: Going to a new island, meeting new crew members, helping out little kids, taking out a power hungry warlord, etc. It's a blueprint arc, and it works well as that. Sadly, the anime would not continue the "introduce a Straw Hat character with rad guitar" idea like they do with Zoro here.
38. Orange Town
The East Blue saga only gets better as it goes along, and Orange Town provides a nice counter to Romance Dawn. For example, if Axe-Hand Morgan represented the seriousness of the Marine threat in the last arc, then Buggy represents the other side of the villains that the Straw Hat Crew will encounter: cartoonish, loud, and beaten in a really fun way.
37. Ruluka Island
Ruluka Island feels like condensed One Piece, like you'd just add some water to turn this four episode arc into a twenty episode one. It's a nice arc to stretch your legs in before you go to the big themes of Jaya.
36. Ice Hunter
Ice Hunter is neat because it gives every member of the Straw Hat crew a little time to shine in a story that is action-packed and intriguing. If you miss pre timeskip One Piece and haven't watched the Ice Hunter arc, give it a shot.
35. Marine Rookie
I know that we're all eager to see the Straw Hats reunite in Wano, but if you want to see more of Whole Cake's Sanji Retrieval Team, the Marine Rookie arc makes for a solid bonus round. Also, the only reason it starts is because Luffy eats all of the Straw Hats' supplies, which, logically, should be the beginning of waaaaay more One Piece arcs.
34. Silver Mine
If you didn't get enough Bartolomeo in Dressrosa, then surprise! They made a filler arc just for you.
  33. Boss Luffy Specials
You know when you fall asleep watching a show, and then you wake back up and, in your grogginess, suddenly whatever is on TV looks insane? That's what happened to me with Boss Luffy. I had just finished watching Ace's fight with Blackbeard and then, boom. I was out. Then I wake up and see the Straw Hats in 19th century Japan. The Boss Luffy stuff is fun, but I think it's best viewed when you're in a delirious half sleep. That's just my personal preference, though.
32. Caesar Retrieval
Caesar made for a fine antagonist on Punk Hazard, but he's even better as shreiking deadweight that the Straw Hat Crew and Company have to keep alive.
31. Little Garden
Little Garden isn't as cool as Whisky Peak, nor does it provide the emotional gut punch of Drum Island. Instead, it's mainly here to further the theme of what it means to be a true warrior and introduce giants (and dinosaurs!) in the One Piece universe. It gives Usopp some of the character development that he needs and Zoro almost cuts off his own feet in an effort to keep fighting. Any arc that illustrates how hard Zoro goes gets at least one thumb up from me.
30. Loguetown
Loguetown is a fun arc when you consider just how much it expands the scope of the world. Smoker and Tashigi truly begin the Navy's quest to stop the Straw Hats, Dragon gets introduced in a big, mysterious way, and Luffy takes a massive step in establishing himself in the realm of pirating. However, the Straw Hat side stories in the middle (aside from Zoro's awesome bit in the sword shop) slow it down a little.
29. Zou
Zou might be one of the most visually rich arcs in the series. From the massive elephant to the Mink tribe to the terror of Jack to more lessons about the poneglyphs, there's a lot shoved into this short span. And between the intense epics of Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island, it's fits nicely as 10 cc's of wonder and fantasy injected into the New World.
28. Fishman Island
Fishman Island occupies a weird spot. It's thematically heavy, but also serves as the action-packed Straw Hat Crew comeback tour. It needs to stand on its own, but it also caps off with a declaration of war against Big Mom, a villain that won't be encountered for years. In all, I feel that the importance of the Fishman Island arc is yet to be truly realized.
27. Ocean's Dream
One of the final two filler arcs on this list, Ocean's Dream seems like One Piece fan fiction in the best way. If you were dissatisfied with Luffy's fight with Zoro on Whisky Peak, you get another round of it here while Zoro is being mind controlled.
26. Syrup Village
If Romance Dawn and Orange Town were warm up laps, Syrup Village is when One Piece begins to break out in a sprint. The introduction of Usopp and the Going Merry make for some great moments and it's this arc that got me hooked on One Piece when I first started watching it.
25. Dressrosa
Dressrosa, for better (and sometimes for worse) is massive. Doflamingo is a threat that had been popping up since the Jaya arc, but because of Dressrosa's scope, his defeat can feel a little lackluster, especially when you consider that he's a pitstop on the road to Kaido. But Dressrosa introduces the endlessly cool Fujitora and the Straw Hats' big pirate alliance, and also gives us the dual backstories to Law and Doflamingo, neither of which disappoint. Also, Doflamingo's abilities lead to some of the coolest action scenes in the series.
24. Return to Sabaody
The post-timeskip starts with a bang, as the Return to Sabaody arc is both hilarious and thrilling. The Straw Hats get to show off their newfound strength as they do what they definitely couldn't do in the first Sabaody arc (easily knock out a Pacifista). And we also get to meet the Fake Straw Hat crew, which does a nice job of illuminating just how much the legend of the Straw Hats has grown since they were last together.
23. Reverse Mountain
One of the major strengths of One Piece is that it can accomplish three kinds of storytelling at once—giving us a narrative that is immediately satisying, giving us a narrative that will be satisfying in the near future, and giving us a narrative that will be satisfying in the long term. In the Reverse Mountain arc, we not only get a nice story about Laboon, but we also get introduced to Baroque Works (who will be the main antagonists of the saga), and also, we get hints that will only pay off when Brook is introduced years later. Reverse Mountain is short, but it also displays Eiichiro Oda's wonderful talent as a writer.
22. Long Ring Long Land
I've seen people on the internet say stuff like "WHEN I REACHED THE DAVY BACK FIGHT ARC, I NEARLY STOPPED READING!" and man, why? Quitting a series that you love because it slightly diverts from the hero fighting god-like enemies in order to participate in some fun games? Everyone has their own opinions, but your opinion of what fiction should be is wrong. That said, this arc is hilarious and great.
21. Whisky Peak
Whisky Peak is so cool. It's an anime arc with swagger, the kind that steps into a bar and buys everyone a round. I want to be friends with Whisky Peak but I know, deep down, that Whisky Peak is far too rad to be friends with me.
  20. Reverie
The best thing about the Reverie arc is that it makes the world of One Piece a little more conveniently manageable (Oh neat. All of the major side characters get to hang out for a while), while also opening a can of worms (What's with the giant straw hat? WHAT'S WITH THE GIANT STRAW HAT?). Because this is the most recent arc, I don't know if we've seen the ripples that it will create across the One Piece world, but I sure am excited to.
  19. Post Enies Lobby
This isn't the first time the Straw Hats have been forced to flee a place. However, this is the first time that it's felt like they'd be wiped out if they didn't. The return of Garp (and the spectre of the Yonko) throw the Straw Hats into all new territory, one where maybe being the plucky underdog team isn't enough to save them from the threats that come. Also, goofy Franky joins the team, which provides a nice counter-balance to the hints of oblivion.
18. Punk Hazard
Punk Hazard is home to one of my top 10 One Piece fights (Vergo vs Law & Smoker), features one of my favorite locations (an island that is half fire/magma and half ice/snow and home to an evil science base), and introduces a character that has only grown on me with time (Here's a hint on who he is: He laughs like "SHERURURURURURU SHERURURURURURU). It's kind of a prequel to Dressrosa, but in that spot, does a great job at furthering the menace of Doflamingo.
17. Post War
The introduction of Sabo aka Steampunk Ace aka I'm Just Kidding Sabo Is Kinda Cool and Luffy realizing that he has his crew to keep him going make the Post-War arc into a short but powerful cap to the pre-timeskip era.
16. Amazon Lily
Boa Hancock is a supremely underrated One Piece character, with a terribly sad backstory, amazing powers, and a hilarious crush on Luffy. And Amazon Lily helps further the major trend that will reach fever pitch in Dressrosa of Luffy amassing supporters because he's just such a dang ol' nice guy. Hopefully Hancock will one day meet Bartolomeo and together they will start a Luffy fan club and then argue over who gets to be President.
15. Jaya
If you were in the dark as to what the themes of One Piece are, here comes Jaya with a flashlight. This is basically a montage of the things that are important to the Straw Hat crew, and it introduces Blackbeard, a guy that will go from "Oh he seems interesting" to "OH I HATE HIM" over the next few hundred chapters. Luffy saying "Do I know how to throw a punch, you ask?" before absolutely walloping Bellamy still gives me goose bumps.
14. Thriller Bark
There's so much good to Thriller Bark—the spooky atmosphere, the introduction of Brook, the underrated Gekko Moriah, the Binks' Sake song, the Straw Hats teaming up to face a giant zombie, etc. And just when you think it can't get any better, Kuma shows up and rocks the One Piece world.
13. Impel Down
Hey! It's Buggy! And Mr. 3! And Mr. 2! And Crocodile! And our new best boy Jinbe! And Ivankov! As both a launching point for new protagonists and a comeback for old foes (along with introducing Magellan, one of the best villains in the series, and Shiryu, one of the scariest villains in the series), Impel Down succeeds. I love it more and more with time.
  12. Wano
A revamped art style and a fresh sense of direction has turned the burgeoning Wano arc into a great experience for long time One Piece fans, along with providing a solid place for new fans to jump into the series. This ranking my change once we get further into it, but for now, the Straw Hats reuniting and quickly learning of the awe-inspiring power of Kaido has earned Wano a choice place on this list. Also, "Over The Top" is one of the best opening themes ever, One Piece or otherwise.
11. Drum Island
I've written an entire article about why the arc where we first meet Tony Tony Chopper makes me weep, so I'll try to be brief here. Drum Island is beautiful. It's the story of a little deer guy that couldn't find a place in the world and the loud rubber bro that gave him one. It's an arc about the price of dreams and the power of having someone stand up for you when you need it most. It's about love and respect and kindess. And now I'm about to cry again. THANKS A LOT, ONE PIECE.
10. Baratie
The Baratie arc is the first hint that we'll get about how hectic the One Piece world is. We meet Sanji, we meet Don Krieg, and we meet Mihawk (and is stronger than the whole cast of the show combined at this point). Syrup Village is about leaving your comfort zones and Baratie is about finding a home in the chaos that follows.
9. G-8
The best One Piece filler arc and the One Piece arc that I most revisit (it's only 11 episodes, can you blame me?), G-8 is a One Piece Greatest Hits collection and possibly the first thing you should show someone if they want to get into One Piece but don't have long to do so.
8. Alabasta
Are the Straw Hats ready for the Grand Line? Are they ready to topple evil villains and protect those that need help? That's what Alabasta asks and the answer is "Oh yeah." Luffy punching Crocodile up through the center of the city is an iconic moment, showing us that the Straw Hats, whether they mean to be or not, are forces of good in the world.
7. Marineford
Marineford is loud and chaotic and powerful, forcing Luffy into a situation where he is simply an especially energetic pawn on the chessboard of battle. It's just as much of a rescue mission as it is a quest for survival for him, but in the midst of Whitebeard and the three admirals and the Shichibukai, Luffy makes his mark. However, he doesn't do it through displays of awe-inspiring force, but through his willpower. Aokiji is right when he says that Luffy isn't "ready for this stage yet," but the thing that scares the Navy most is that one day, he will be.
6. Sabaody Archipelago
This is not a happy arc. It's a satisfying one (Luffy punching the Celestial Dragon will never get old), and it's an illuminating one (Silver Rayleigh, y'all!), but it's not one that will end with cheering. Kizaru shows up to put an entire generation of pirates in their place and Kuma wipes out the Straw Hats. That said, even if it concludes with the most uncertain moment in the series, it's still a fun ride.
5. Arlong Park
Nami is the soul of the Straw Hat Crew, and learning what she's been through at the hands of the despicable Arlong is heart-breaking. But Luffy doesn't need to know every detail to know that he needs to help and the Straw Hats walking to Arlong Park is another one of those "One Piece is literally the best thing ever" moments. And by the end, every Straw Hat bro gets a victory, Luffy gets a bounty, and Nami gets her freedom. And what does she do with this freedom? She joins a ship full of dummies as their navigator. And I'm so happy about that.
4. Enies Lobby
For many, Enies Lobby is THE arc and I'm not disagreeing with them. It's such a display of raw emotion and exciting battles, a nonstop rollercoaster of everything that makes One Piece great. And it ends with a Viking funeral for the Going Merry, a scene that reveals Oda's true power as a writer: He makes you sob about a ship.
3. Whole Cake Island
If Enies Lobby is about being a hero, then Whole Cake Island is about letting that idea go. The Straw Hats can't beat Big Mom or her crew and will have to settle with getting Sanji and getting out. And Katakuri, the protective brother of the Charlotte family, learns that he doesn't have to be perfect all the time. It's a beautiful arc that shows that Oda is willing to play around with some of the pre-established ideas of One Piece.
2. Water 7
Robin leaves. Usopp defects, Luffy is forced to do things that no captain wants to, and a villainous team shows up that seems unstoppable. Water 7 may be the first half of a story that continues with Enies Lobby, but I find it to be the better one (though not by much). It's an arc that constantly leaves you saying "Well, what else could go wrong?" and then something else does. And it's just so good.
1. Skypiea
This is it. Everything good about One Piece, from the powerful villain (with a great weakness), to the touching themes, to enchanting locations, to the gripping adventures, is wrapped up in Skypiea. And while I have no problems with arcs being connected, there's just something about the standalone nature of Skypiea that leads me to regularly revisit it. It's an arc that makes me glad that I started this nearly 900 episode adventure in the first place. And that's the highest compliment that I can give.
