I'd like to introduce everyone to this little fella!

This is most likely an eastern cottontail, though there is some debate that it may be a new england cottontail but that's unlikely.

Now normally I am very against feeding/interacting with wildlife on regular occasions but this guy is a special case.

See I'd been going out to put seed out for wild birds for a few months now, sitting nearby to take pictures of them to the point that they'll land around me, fly over when they hear my footsteps and just have a general understanding that I'm not going to hurt them.

Then I notice a little bunny hop out from under the brush a bit wary, but I stay still so I don't scare it and can hopefully get some pictures. He ended up, over a few days getting more familiar and eventually tipping over the scoop I use for the bird feed while being less than a foot away.

It really is a neat thing for wild animals to come to the understanding that you aren't going to hurt them, just enough trust to hang around you.

He's absolutely adorable and I love this little fella

Fish-eating bat | Myotis vivesi

For the second day of Bat Week, I bring you the second bat that fishes in marine waters! Living in the Gulf of California, this species inhabits islands and rocky coasts, and alongside caves and crevices, they've been found sheltering under sea turtle shells as well!

Their favored diet is crustaceans (such as squat lobsters), marine fish, and flying insects! They've also been observed to have a symbiotic relationship with petrels nesting in the area, as they'll fend off lizards that attempt to eat their eggs.

I'm growing really heated getting slammed with "seasonal depression" articles on how to stave off emotions and continue barreling towards unyielding progress like the domestic pets we have all become.

Winter is the time all life slows down and takes a deep breath. Plants retract into their roots to fortify for next years' growth, fungi and amphibians go dormant in extreme temperatures, and mammals hibernate to hunker through the most brutal sections of weather. When we sleep at night, our body moves into recovery mode and works on maintenance behind the scenes. Winter wants your whole attention on recovery all season long.

Our way of life isn't shaped like this anymore, with homes fitted with electric lamps and heating elements to warm us and cook with. This makes for twelve whole and solid months available for activity. Our bodies were not given to us with this expectation, nor is it possible or healthy. Despite our social norms, 364 days of efficient productivity is insane. Even on our weekends, we stack ourselves with social and personal responsibility. But how grateful were you as a kid looking forward to spring break? Not only does your body deserve a break, your health (physical or mental) might hang in this balance as well.

If you start to feel like "a bear wanting to hibernate," this could be the first symptom you're on the verge of burnout. No, please don't put an over aggressive light in your house to mimic summer solar hours. Your body is communicating with you in the only way it knows how. When you are hungry, it's your body requesting food, right? When you feel sleepy, it's because your body needs rest. For people who are able to afford themselves a reprieve during the year, maybe winter feels different to you. If you feel a victim of "seasonal affective disorder," look back at your year. Maybe it doesn't necessarily need to be all of winter, but don't you think you deserve a break?

Almost especially when society tells you your feelings are wrong or cumbersome, investigate why. Your emotions are a direct hotline to your soul. Why wouldn't you want to listen to it?

i have a confession to make. its "official" isn't even meat monster its mammal. like it doesn't have one single name because it doesn't care about naming itself so like it does have a million different things people call it. but i do think if people asked it what it was or who it was it would just answer mammal (its not even wrong since it is just basically a collection of red meat). It will basically answer to anything but some common names include meat monster, viscera, thing, carrion, flesh, creature, that red fuck that i hate.
