I pieced this quilt. The pattern is called Batty by Apples and Beavers. My friend Becky did the custom quilting. While the quilting was NOT cheap, it is incredible! It really brings the quilt to life! I could not be more thrilled! I’d love to know what you all think of it. The photos are Beckys as I don’t have it back home yet. SPOOKTACULAR!!!

#op please drop the recipe this sounds so good (via @sillypeachduck)
It is, I think, a fairly standard banana bread recipe to start with, my mom's recipe @mamaspark
Tumblr media
Non-stick cooking spray
Standard loaf pan (8.5x4.5")
Turbinado sugar crystals (NOT in the recipe above, it's her secret)
DRY INGREDIENTS
1.5c All-purpose flour (180g)
1.5t Baking powder
1/4t Baking soda
1/8t Salt
-WET INGREDIENTS
2 Slightly beaten egg whites
3T Wheat germ
1t Cinnamon
1/2t Ground ginger
Dash nutmeg
1c Mashed ripe banana (2-3 medium, more or less to taste)
3/4c Sugar (150g)
1T Cooking oil
--OTHER
1c Chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
Spray pan and set aside (I don't bother, I just spray before I pour batter in).
Mix dry ingredients together in large bowl. Mix wet ingredients together in medium bowl. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until barely mixed (no dry powder but not blended smooth).
Add chocolate chips if you want and mix gently in. *someone in the notes also suggested using 2 older bananas like usual, and 1 less ripe banana, and adding the minimally mashed less-ripe one at this point, to leave banana chunks for dream!banana bread, and that sounds delicious actually.
Pour batter into sprayed loaf pan.
IF you desire to make Dream!Banana Bread, melt some butter in a double boiler (bowl on top of a pot, so it's not directly touching the heat source) on low heat, and slowly mix in some dark chocolate, completely mix together. Thin peanut butter by warming it in the microwave, you can thin with milk if you want but you don't actually need to. Load these into some form of pastry piping bag (plastic baggie with TINY hole in corner works fine, or get fancy and use a #230 piping tip) and swirl some into the bread. The amounts don't really matter, since you aren't using all of what you mix, just whatever you feel like. I would try a tablespoon of butter and 1/2c of dark chocolate nibs/chunks/chips, and 1/2c of peanut butter to start, and adjust to taste next time. *someone in the notes suggested thinning the chocolate/peanut butter with batter instead of milk, and you can, but it won't make as clean of a ribbon I think. It might work better for the PB than the chocolate. **I used smooth PB, but I think you could use a chunky PB and it would be fine.
Sprinkle turbinado sugar crystals over the top. Bake at 350F for 50-60 minutes depending on your oven for normal bread, definitely 60+ minutes for Dream Bread, until a dry wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then turn out onto a cooling wire and let cool at least most of the way. There is little else in the world better than a warm, fresh banana bread slice with a bit of nearly-melted butter on top, where the bread isn't quite warm enough to melt the butter too fast.
As my mom notes, this makes 1 loaf and unless you're the only person eating it, you will probably want to make 2 loaves. Because it's fucking delicious.
Last night I dreamed I baked banana bread.
But not just any banana bread.
I dreamed that I made the banana bread like normal. But then!
Then I thinned some peanut butter with milk (????) and melted some chocolate and thinned that with milk, too, and then put them into separate baggies, and put those baggies into a third baggie so their corners were all aligned. I cut the overlapping corner to make a squeezy bag like for frosting where they would both come out together but not mixed, and then I dipped the tip of it into the banana bread batter and swirled peanut butter and chocolate into it.
THEN I baked it.
I explained my dream to my neighbor and she gave me bananas and told me to make my dreams come true. So. I'm gonna try it tomorrow.

Finally have all three of these tops finished, backing made and batting rounded up. Ready to head to my long arm quilter. I’m super excited to have these finished. I’ve chosen the binding too. Still need to make that. The 4th one is completely finished already. These will be gifted to my great nieces for Christmas this year!
I added the eyelashes to these. I feel kind of bad that the first one didn’t get eyelashes. But it did get a bird! This is the first one I did as a pattern test. This is before it was quilted.

I LOVE this pattern. It’s very easy and goes together quickly. Pattern is called Unicorn Garden by Apples and Beavers.
Which one is your favorite?

I bought this “Guess how much I love you” panel and used a pattern from @villarosadesigns to make this adorable EASY baby quilt. The photos don’t really do it justice, it’s really adorable in person! Bought all the fabrics at @creativepassionsretreat quilt shop. This was a simple quilt but it turned out so well!! I found the exact same gray with the bunnies in the big squares in flannel to use for the back.

My middle daughter saw this cheater print and loved it. I ended up making a different quilt for her soon to be born daughter but couldn’t resist finishing this as a whole cloth quilt. It’s SO pretty!

I bought the fabric to make this top for my grandson. He loves Thomas the Tank Engine and friends. I saw this pattern and knew the Thomas fabric would be perfect! I don’t enjoy garment making but I do love how it turned out. We are taking him to ride Thomas and Percy at the end of September. Hoping he will want to wear this on the train rides! Woo Woo!!

Just finished a layette for a baby shower I’ll be attending in March. 2 self binding blankets, reusable rags, teethers, crib sheets and burp cloths. Next up will be the baby’s quilt. I chose a really cool pattern but I think it will be a lot of work 😉🦌

For 2 years I gave plasma almost every week, twice each week. I can’t give since my breast cancer follow up treatment. I’m taking an Aromatase inhibitor. My tumor was 95% Estrogen receptor positive. Your body needs Aromatase to make Estrogen. So with out the enzyme to make it no cells can make Estrogen. Theoretically that means if any cancer cells were missed, they would starve. Anyway, I’m taking this for a minimum of 5 years.
I first met B at my donations. She was working at the center. She was SO good at hitting the vein the first time! I was always happy to see her. Well after trying for some time she told me she is expecting! They are doing the room in Winnie the Pooh. I decided I needed to make her some things for their nursery. I got a quilt top finished and yo the quilter before we left town for 3 months. I also made 2 crib sheets, 2 loveys, some burp cloths and some reusable wipes. I got the quilt back a few days after we got home. I got it bound and then messaged her to see if I could meet her at the plasma center to drop off “a little something”.
She was so surprised and thrilled. It just made my day! Here are a few photos of what I made and her with the quilt. Also her and I

I went on a quilt retreat with some of my favorite people 🥰. We were all very productive! I brought 2 quilt tops that I finished ahead of the retreat just so I could get good photos

I have a backing ready for the triangle quilt. The triangle fabrics are an Alice In Wonderland fabric line. Still thinking about backing on the Wizard of Oz quilt.
I got a couple of quilts back from my quilter so I trimmed and bound both of those. The bear quilt will be gifted to my husband’s uncle. The garbage truck has Kelly green Minky on the back. Quilted in a Diamond plate pantograph. Was supposed to go to my grandson but will likely be for sale. If you’re interested please email me at [email protected]

I had the center block made for this pillow front. Made the block into the pillow front. Now I need to quilt it and finish the pillow.
Tumblr media
I had enough greens and low volume fabric to make a second green Limerick quilt. I also made a coral Limerick. Got both tops finished
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, I had almost all my star blocks made. I finished the blocks and put this top together. I really love it!
Tumblr media
Now you’re all caught up with what I’ve been doing. Let me know what you think of my work!
