👑🦙 Last night was another night of late-night drawing at my desk. While watching “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith”, I drew these characters based on animals seen in “The Emperor’s New Groove”. Initially, the movie was going to be called “Kingdom of the Sun” and was envisioned as a musical epic like “Lion King”. It was eventually changed to a comedy due to creative differences amongst the crew. I always thought the jaguars looked like Bagheera from “The Jungle Book”, although they’re different kinds of jungle cats. I based the llama’s design on early concept drawings of Kuzco as a llama. The crocodile seems like sort of a counterpart to the crocodile in “Peter Pan”. The girl, Malina, is a character who appeared in the Disney Channel cartoon “The Emperor’s New School”.

These are all based on impromptu sketches I scribbled out last August or September. Whenever I want to revisit a series of ideas I worked on months ago, I tend to make it seem more new and fresh. This month, aside from doing Christmas art, I’m hoping to revisit work from many months ago. 🐆🐊
