31. HELL YES ALEC IS HAPPIER. ok but speaking of the “I can sense he’s happier” parallel with Jace and Magnus. I kind of find it funny because jace and season one Maryse are the ones who make Alec upset and his life hell. so if jace thought Alec was happy, then he sure doesn’t know Alec. or maybe it’s meaning more “he’s finally happy” but you’d think you would care that your bestie/warrior partner isn’t ever happy but what the fuck do I know smh (I’m sorry that scene bothers me and how jace acts like he is acting in Alec’s better interests, boy stop)

39. trying to add some spice so we aren’t focusing on one scene for a whole part. I guess warlock and shadowhunter marriage colors are being done on purpose? I don’t really care about shadowhunter customs that were created from the books because I don’t like the books. I don’t think it really matters what colors they marry in but it is a cute little nod. I will say that.

I personally would love other colors and I don’t get mad if the show doesn’t keep the standards. (if y’all don’t believe me, there are book fans who can’t stand that Alec doesn’t have blue eyes as if it’s a dealbreaker or that the show doesn’t focus on clace lmao) I think Magnus would look great in gold and Alec in blue. but also they both pull off any color well. Magnus looks great in blue but Alec looks better in darker colors in my opinion. whatever I got sidetracked. point is, we love to see intimate Malec scenes OKAY

PSA: HELLA LONG RANT ABOUT CLARY IN 3x12 SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Clary absolutely bothers me in 3x12 (well in any episode scene book, point made) especially when she says “killing people shouldn’t feel good” and jonathon points out clary killing valentine

but that’s not just it. she’s such a hypocrite and acts like she’s better because she doesn’t have demon blood. (oh I’m sure Magnus and Simon and luke would love to see how she thinks she’s better with all her angel blood lmao)

I can’t believe she has me defending jonathon but imagine if he actually was raised by a caring parent. Clary tries to compare jace and jonathon but jace didn’t spend years in edom. Jonathon has zero support and he’s only been shown to be evil

I truly think that clary assumes she’s better because she has “pure angel blood” and everyone is constantly stating how clary is a good person and so on

but she’s really not a good person. I was going to add this on an analysis but it’s bothering me so much right now that I need to start rant. so here’s a list of clary being horrible and why I’m tired of her being branded a good person by the writers and treating her as if she’s better than everyone else

•Jocelyn doesn’t punish her ever so clary thinks she doesn’t need to be held accountable and can do whatever the hell she wants whenever

•comes into the institute in the first season and basically walks all over Alec Izzy and jace (I get she wants Jocelyn back but there are customs rules that exist for reasons)

•she doesn’t care that her bad behavior and attitude reflect on Alec and that he’s the one who is constantly paying consequences for decisions that she creates

•her dumbass and foolery almost gets Izzy deruned. I don’t trust the clave but I trust them way more than I trust a child who doesn’t care about rules and wants everything her way

•she acts like her problems matter more than anyone else’s

•this is a little more on the writing and not the character but clary in any event needs to be saved. as if her life and her problems matter more than Alec’s or Magnus’s or Izzy’s or Raphael’s or simons

•once again, all of her bad decisions reflect poorly on Alec and then she tries to act like she cares about Alec when he’s engaged to Lydia. BITCH WHERE WAS THAT LOYALTY WHEN YOU WERE TRYING TO OVERRIDE ALL HIS DECISIONS AND HAVING ALEC PAY FOR EVERYTHING

•clary never once takes any accountability in season one. (or really ever) she thanks Alec once and calls it a day

•she encourages jaces toxicity. it’s not her job to fix him but she doesn’t have to encourage his bad behavior

•clary doesn’t care about any rules. she says a few times “I don’t care about your stupid rules” and is saying how she just wants her mom back. Clary creates her own rules because everything has to be on her terms

•her treatment of Simon in season one shows that she is once again thinking about herself when he gets turned into a vampire. she never once thought about how he would feel and live his new life (that choice was beneficially made for herself. Simons feelings were not in mind when she made that decision)

•she’s awful to Simon and ignores him but once jace isn’t an option, she’s suddenly interested in him

•alec constantly saves clary and helps her and she doesn’t ever show any gratitude for it

•Magnus also helps clary at every chance he can and she can’t be bothered to see how he is or be his friend. she just wants a warlock she can go to when she needs help

•this is more around the writing of clary but everyone is constantly trying to sacrifice everything just to save clary as if her life matters more

•I’m not a whole fan of Simon and clary dating because if jace was an option, she wouldn’t give Simon the time of day

•clary is a terrible girlfriend to jace but especially (they’re equally toxic) when he comes back from the dead. she doesn’t tell Alec and is constantly lying and gaslighting him. but what stands out to me the most is when she tries to dismiss jaces mental health problems

•clary keeps shit to herself especially if jace tells her to. it’s as if she can’t make any decisions for herself or have any growth. keeping the secret about the soul sword and “jaces demon blood” was not her decision to make.

•especially with the clave, clary thinks she has to make all these important decisions when they aren’t her decisions to make. she’s not protecting the downworld, she’s being selfish. Clary only thinks about herself

•she brought jace back and acted like it was a miracle instead of taking away THE WISH from raziel. I’m sorry but she’s been in the clave a while and can’t keep being so ignorant about their customs and history. bringing people upsets nature. literally this seems to be common sense but whatever

•there are a few times when she’s being supportive but it’s only rare. and those times are followed when someone is helping her. 98% of clary scenes is heavily about herself. if she were truly Magnus’s friend, why wasn’t she there after he was tortured? why hasn’t she talked to him about his relationship with Alec and supported him in any way? she only goes to Magnus when she needs something, and she does the same with Simon

•clary thinks that keeping secrets from downworlders and stealing a wish is for the greater good. she doesn’t think about how the shadow world involves other people. this also stems from the very beginning with the mortal cup. Clary just thinks everything is about her. it’s like she thinks she can play god with peoples lives

•no one can ever be mad at clary because she needs to be saved or helped a minute later so all focus must be on her

•Magnus giving up his magic can be tied back to clary because she doesn’t say shit about jace and blindly follows what he says

•she is a toxic girlfriend, friend, coworker, etc.

having angel blood doesn’t make her automatically good. having a good soul and being kind is what makes a good person. caring about others, being supportive, trying to adapt and learn and grow is what makes someone good.

(you can be a terrible person but if you don’t have any change and aren’t actively trying to be better,you are a bad person. you are a bad person for taking advantage of friends and only thinking of yourself)

none of this criteria fits clary. she’s such a hypocrite trying to paint jonathon as this irredeemable demon when she shouldn’t be talking. yes she has toxic family members but that doesn’t give her the right to think she’s better than everyone. what has she done for downworlders? is she just as bad as valentine? perhaps not but she is just as selfish and arrogant.

Clary only does what’s good for her. she’s not a downworlder ally, or even an lgbtq+ ally. there are times where she talks down on downworlders which is more common in season one. but they’re only there to help clary while she acts “grateful”.

she treated Alec awfully and shitty in season one and is never thankful for all he has done for her. she has gaslighted and lied to Alec and I don’t think any ounce of clary actually appreciates the people who are there for her

the only reason Alec and clary are on semi nice terms is because everyone has to worship and tolerate her so of course Alec kills Jocelyn. I don’t see clary having any growth and it’s laughable to watch her act as if she’s any better.

in my opinion, clary is passed being redeemed. maybe after the first season, that was an option but after all she’s done, there’s no more room for it because it would just be hella rushed at this point. there’s no accountability, ownership, growth. she is the same from beginning to end. she had a slight change when she was Simon but that was destroyed the second she got back with Jace.

Jonathon obviously isn’t perfect and a villain but I’m tired of hearing or seeing the writing try to portray as clary being “good”. there’s nothing good about this character
