How I imagine the Rowdyruff Boys would dress

Brick Keane

Brick's style is usually minimalistic and layered, with a bit of a 90's inspired vibe as seen in his love for flannels, denim jackets, and those Hawaiian shirts he seems to make look cool. Between the girls and his brothers, he sticks to his respective color the most, there's almost always a hint of red on him somewhere. Any kind of designs on his clothes are either very simple and small, or rather unique and/or retro. He doesn't do clothes with brand labels plastered on the front, Brick believes he's too cool to wear popular brands that everyone else likes. He likes his clothes loosely fitted, not too tight or too baggy. Any kind of devil imagery is a huge plus for him, as to remind the citizens/peers/classmates who his creator is. I'd like to think that When Brick was middle school aged, he had started collecting a bunch of Boston Red Sox hats in a variety of colors such as black, red, white, beige, or some combo of the aforementioned, completely unaware that they were affiliated with a sports team. Once he found out, he went with the lie that he was a fan and now he watches their games reluctantly so he doesn't look like a poser. He still rocks with his original plain red cap proudly though.

Boomer Keane

Boomer wouldn't admit it, and he probably doesn't know it, but a part of his style is a bit inspired by Brick's. Layered and simple at times, the key distinction between the two is coloring: lighter denim and brighter colors. Even the Hawaiian shirts are brighter in terms of theme and color as well. But usually, his style is rather athletic and preppy, like one of those boys in a fraternity, the ones who "had to do it to 'em". Unless it's snowing, there's a good chance you'll see Boomer in shorts (yes he's one of those). Boomer also has some rather random pieces of clothing such as an American flag hoodie (he thought it looked good on him, and tbh, what doesn't?), overalls, or pink baggy acid wash jeans (that Blossom, Bubbles, and surprisingly Buttercup all LOVE). I'd also like to think that subconsciously Boomer picks up clothes that have red, blue, and green in them as a way to convince himself that he fits in with his brother and is a part of the team. He's a whore for cardigans and letterman jackets as well.

Butch Keane

Somehow, Butch has managed to take punk grunge and enfuse the style with his love for athletic brands and clothes (with a bit of Brick's influence as well occasionally, that what happens when the leader of the group is constantly telling the other two that they can't dress) and combine the two. His fits have a tendency to be LOUD! Chaotic. And either very baggy or perfectly fitted as if it were tailored to him. His closet makes Buttercup's dress code violations look like a slap on the wrist; one of his favorite hoodies portrays a guy with green fingers chopping cocaine (as pictured below). Occasionally, he might dawn a shirt that might reference sex in some way (he definitely has a "This is a very serious text post with no hidden meaning" shirt or hoodie in his closet somewhere). Butch probably owns the most leathered clothes between him and his brothers, and he has no problem with that. He's also the most proactively dressed between the three brothers with his love for sleeveless shirts, crop tops, tight tanks, and ripped jeans that might expose most of his legs (he gotta show off the gains somehow). While his female counterpart outgrew her obsession for camo print, Butch has yet to. He also loves utility jackets and any kind of coat with fur (he isn't sure/doesn't care if it's real or not, but he lies to Bubbles every time she asks just to get her off his back).

i know you're not suppose to say "male characters tend to be more popular because female characters tend to be underwritten/given more boring safe personalities/be the "girl" character" because people who say they are usually the one's who are able to be interested in extremely bland male characters. but i think there is something to be say about how character designers have absolutely no limits with what they can do with male characters but the second you add "also they're a woman" suddenly they aren't allowed to make them too fat or too funny or too creepy or given any personally traits that might make than not sexy/unthreatening in a very narrow way and it's extremely tiring lol.

So here’s my take on Him (PPG):

He’s the devil, we all know that and that’s why the viewer can’t know his real name, cuz it’s a a children’s cartoon. And as the devil himself, he isn’t female nor male. He’s both and neither, cuz he isn’t human nor from our world. I think when he’s calm, he puts on a feminine side, because usually calmness (niceness) used to be associated with being feminine and rage was associated with being masculine. He has a “he” pronoun, because we all know the “true nature” of a demon/ devil, which is evil and angry (masculine traits in old media). So “him” fits much better, because that’s what he “truly is”. He just hides under his feminine mask (as the devil would hide his true identity and seem charming).

He wasn’t supposed to be a queer caricature. (That’s not a fact, but I want to see it that way.) He was meant to represent an evil hiding under a disguise (like old cartoons usually did). However the community claimed Him because of his traits and because he’s a super cool villain. And a FRICKING icon. And I think people will forever view him as a queer character, so we might as well embrace him.

Why do you hate Blossick? Just curious

Basically the usual reasons I've stated why I hate PPG x RRB in general, with me thinking it's the most basic bitch ass ship ever where the only thought behind it is "oh this group girl and this group boy so they must be in love", and the fact that they look too similar to each other (which is also why I feel pretty iffy on PPG x PPNKG)

Blossick tho is my least favorite pairing of the groups because Blossom doesn't seem like the type to fall for a douchebag piece of shit guy like Brick (nor boys in general but that's just me, if you follow me you know i hc blossom as a single ace lesbian)

Honestly I don't fw any of the Blossom x male pairings so I made her single out of spite

Thank you! I love this so much. It's literally taken me days to put all my thoughts together because of how much I over thought this.

First, I know you said jk but they absolutely would terrorize Mojo about him being a monkey chimpanzee and their punishment would be getting sent to Him’s realm so they only do this sparingly. “We don’t take orders from dumb monkeys.” *insert long repetitive rant about how he’s a chimpanzee while he dials up Him about their insolent boys* 

In all honesty, I've never thought about them having pets. I've always kinda hc’d the boys as nomads going between Him and Mojo and wherever else they decided to crash. Since they don't have a set home or even the concept of what a home should be, luxuries like having a pet or even the luxury of having something to be there consistently would be lost on them. Granted they have each other but just trying to get through each day together is hard for them let alone having a pet to add to that.

BUT they're kids and I don't think I've ever met a kid who doesn't like animals or even dogs.

I think the boys could be the type to pick up a stray dog. Maybe Brick would take a similar attitude about pets to Buttercup in “Cat Man Do” (S1Ep19) where he thinks he’s gonna get stuck with all of the responsibility but in the end he can’t resist loving it. “Do you idiots even know how to even take care of a dumb dog?” “Do you?”.

They would definitely argue over who the dog loves most. “Stop taking him from my bed!” “I found him!” “He’s staying with me since I take care of him the most!”

You already know it’s gonna have a name like Rockit or Bezerk since they can’t spell correctly.

They’d also argue about if the dog was female or male but I think like the girls, they wouldn’t be able to tell and stick with it being a “boy dog” because they can’t have a “sissy” dog. Y’know, “man’s best friend” and all that misled mindset.

If they ever found out about Bullet having super powers, there would be many attempts to steal chemical x from the Professor’s lab because the girls can’t have a cooler pet than them.

This can only go horribly wrong with either the destruction of Townsville (if successful), another brawl between them and the girls or a horrible experiment gone wrong when they try to make their own Chemical X.

There would probably even be chemical x infused insects (good luck, girls) that they’d end up creating.

I could also see the boys having random pets that are either wild or strays. Kinda like in “The Boys Are Back In Town” (S5Ep5) how Butch had that random slug on him, they would totally just take in random animals or try to.

Like they’d definitely attempt to have the animals attack fuzzy or even get them to steal. Think flaming poop bags everywhere especially towards Mojo, the girls and the Mayor.

Also keeping their evil alignment in mind, I could also see them terrorizing some animals they come across like trying to ride them or chasing them around to start trouble.

Of course, they become chickens when the animals attack back.

Maybe they'd even have a fade or two with Bullet in the forest. Bubbles absolutely warned the forest animals about the boys.

This was the most concise I could make my answer because there was just so much that came to mind.

ppg reader

if i do give into my fixation and actually put my thoughts out and write a headcannon/fanfic, I'll probably write a PowerPuffGirl!reader. backstory info:

female character with the same powers and the powerpuff girls (speed, flight, strength, intelligence, healing, etc.)

"The Professor" (female or male) is the reader's creator

professor was in school with the davenports. after they graduated, they still kept in contact

the professor's focus was on creating superhumans through modifying genetics and human bio, but the davenport's focus was on creating superhumans through technology and bionic chips

davenport is more tech, douglas is a combination of tech and bio, the professor is more biology

they all collaborated on their projects and they were successful in creating the kids, but the professor moved to townsville soon after all the kids were successfully created

I know that people can't reproduce asexually, that's what we're going to go with through the power of fiction

since the ppg reader's powers are part of her biology instead of a chip, she doesn't glitch the way bionic humans do

the professor allowed reader to go to school and be part of society growing up

reader still trained to strengthen her powers and go on missions

reader graduated high school early and graduated with a BA in psychology or child development (psych so she can hate on davenport🤪)

davenport lets the professor know when douglas comes back and isn't evil anymore

the professor and reader start taking occassional trips to mission creek

the professor can reconnect with the davenports, reader gets to hang out with people who have similar powers to her after keeping her secret her whole life, and the reader gets to train in a different environment

at first she helps leo as mission specialist and then eventually joins the team on missions

since she doesn't go to school, reader would work with the davenports in the lab

reader really gets along with Adam, Bree, and Chase because of their shared powers and secret lives

she bonds with Adam over experimenting with their powers and he's mesmerized by all the extra ones she has. She's smart so they can probably plan great pranks together

Bree imediately claims her as a bff and within a month (or less) they're practically sisters

She shares Chase's intellect and loves learning, but it isn't her whole personality. She pushes Chase to be more spontaneous and their friendship helps him be more confident

I'm a Chase girly so if I ever end up writing fanfics and headcannons, the reader will end up dating Chase

Boys Like Girl Leads Too

Recently, an animated adaptation of the comic strip Phoebe and Her Unicorn was cancelled by Nickelodeon, who claimed that boys won't watch cartoons with female protagonists. This incident shows how out of touch TV executives are with the audiences of their shows.

Contrary to popular belief, gender doesn't matter. A good show is a good show, and if it's good, then anyone, including boys, can watch it, and history has proven that time and time again. Here are just a few examples:

Winsome Witch is a series of Hanna-Barbera shorts that aired during The Secret Squirrel Show. Even in the 1960s, Hanna-Barbera knew that boys can watch shows with female leads. Winsome Witch is about a witch named Winnie, and the magical mishaps she gets into. She's just as clumsy and hilarious as any other male H-B character, and she doesn't have a sidekick. While she is obscure nowadays, that's just because the various backup segments in Hanna-Barbera shows aren't very well-known in general.

Also from Hanna-Barbera is The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, a spinoff of Wacky Races, featuring one of the most popular characters, Penelope Pitstop. She dresses in pink and is often a damsel in distress, but she's still able to save herself, and sometimes even saves the all-male Ant Hill Mob. If there's one thing H-B was good at, it was keeping in touch with their audience. If you look at the Amazon reviews for the complete series DVD, you'll find a lot of male reviewers praising the show, if only because they found Penelope to be hot. Guys WILL watch your cartoon if it has an attractive female character.

Speaking of which, there are a whole bunch of anime starring cute girls (known as 'moe' or 'bishoujo') and guess what? They're targeted at male demographics (such as shonen, young boys, or seinen, adult men). Shows such as Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, and K-On! are popular with boys and men not just because of their cute girl characters, but because they're funny and relatable. In particular, Konata Izumi from Lucky Star behaves a lot like the average otaku.

Going back to Nickelodeon, they don't have very many Nicktoons with female leads. Just one of them is The Mighty B! It's a show about a young girl, Bessie, and is just as absurd and slapstick-filled as SpongeBob. Though short lived, it was a big hit for the network, getting 1.92 million viewers in the 2–11 demographic AND beating out Bakugan, a male-oriented anime, in the ratings.

Another short-lived 2000s female-led cartoon is Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. At the time it premiered, it was the Cartoon Network's top-rated hit for kids 6–11. It has a cult following today, a good chunk of which are guys who think the characters are cute. Again, guys WILL watch your cartoon if the girls are cute.

A much more notable Cartoon Network show is The Powerpuff Girls. Admittedly, the pilot didn't do well with a test group of 11 year old boys, but the actual show became a huge hit with everyone including boys. Everyone can enjoy watching little girls beat up bad guys.

Lauren Faust, who worked on PPG, would go on to create My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And we all know how the story goes: it was bashed for being "the end of creator driven animation" and "smarts-shaming" by people who hadn't even watched the show. A certain image board watched the show to see what all the fuss was about, and thus, Bronies were born. It's important to note that Faust deliberately made the show in such a way that everyone, from boys to adults, can enjoy it. And did she succeed. Once again, guys like to watch cute girls kick ass.

Exactly ten years ago, a spinoff of Avatar: the Last Airbender premiered: The Legend of Korra. Nickelodeon was hesitant with the show at first. They thought that boys wouldn't like the show because Korra is a girl. They were dead wrong - the boys in the test audience didn't care that she was a girl -- they thought she was awesome.

Despite all of these girl-led cartoons being popular with guys, TV executives still seem to believe that boys don't want to watch cartoons about girls. In a Discord server I'm in, someone noted that The Casagrandes was forced to shift its' focus from Ronnie Anne to her cousin, Carl, so that boys would watch the show (I don't watch the show, so I wouldn't know). Compare that with its' parent series, The Loud House. We have one boy and ten girls, but boys still like it, even after the sisters got just as much, if not more, focus than Lincoln. Despite all of that, Lincoln still gets over-promoted and put in the title cards, even if he doesn't appear in the episode. Nickelodeon is so out of touch, it's not even funny.

Cartoons transcend gender. Whether its' cute girls doing cute things or girls in action, a good show is a good show.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing my first Powerpuff Girls OC, Tyler! When I’m finished watching this series (not the reboot version) on my iPhone few months, I would adorably enjoyed this series. Anyways, I got a Powerpuff adoption from my PPG fan friend, AldrineRowdyruffBoy.
