While The Guide to Everything Ever did cover everything ever, it was a little misleading in the boundaries of everything. History was no issue, there was even a large section of the book on prophecy, millions of consequences mapped out on a fold out flow chart. No, the issue was with physical boundaries of everything.
A long time ago the boundaries of the civilised universe were drawn up. From Eden to Xion-5, trillions of stars and quadrillions of planets all included inside the red line separating us from the somehow even more vast expanse of Nothing. There was nothing in Nothing, that much was well known. That was until a group of explorers did what explorers do and found Something. Something in Nothing makes Nothing impossible so the leaders of this great universe came together and decided The Guide to Everything Ever had to include this new Something in their Everything.
That is where you come in.
The Guide to Everything Ever has always relied on first-hand experience. The first edition was a disaster. It only contained the things everybody knew: how to fold a bedsheet and how to get your dog to not hump the postman. The only vaguely interesting part of the Guide was the planetary comments. Even those could send the most interested scientist to sleep! They tried using robots for the first edition, a mere collection of data from far away planets. This was not successful and The Guide only sold four copies.
The next edition was more ambitious. The editors worked out people were a lot more interested in different planets than they were in barbarian fortifications but they did not want to read reams of boring data from a robot called Steve. They wanted a real Steve to give his experience on these new planets. Honest, often humorous, and yet entirely educational extracts of missions across the stars. It didn’t matter that space travel was accessible to everyone. It saved everyone a lot of time waiting in those cold and boring shuttles to get from one side of the universe to another. They could sit in the comfort of their own homes and learn about the man-sized carnivorous plants of Ereta, the beautiful fabrics created on Lii, or which drinks to avoid if you ever find yourself in a Beetjing bar.
The Guide was a success from that point onwards and expanded each year. Soon the job of researcher became a coveted occupation. You were lucky to get into the academy. Only ten new researchers were added each century. You worked your entire life to get in and it paid off, you were off on your first mission into the furthest reaches of Nothing to report back on the wild ‘verse that filled it.
A long time ago space travel was thought of as the most exciting thing anyone could ever do. It was for a few decades but two centuries later it was commonplace. A lot like the London Underground, you just stuck your headphones on and let that distract you until you reached your far more interesting destination.
For your trip you had chosen to watch Anzarch Hospital. A rather cheesy Martian holovid show, it had been going for years. You were on season 85, with only ten episodes left until you were entirely caught up ready for the season finale which was due to air when you returned from this trip. You would rather be at home watching the episodes but this trip to the end of the line was necessary. It wouldn’t take long, a few rotations at least and then you could go to Annie’s party and watch everyone’s favourite doctor finally find out who killed her robot nurse wife.
Nobody ever said Martian holovids were high class, but they were fun.
The computer interrupted your binge, alerting you with a ding that you were within range of your destination and would be stepping out of hyperspace. You pressed a few buttons, accepted the action, and went back to the episode.
It wasn’t until a few moments later when the lower pitch dong did not sound to let you know you had dropped out. Confused, you switched off the holovid and moved back to the cockpit. It was a new ship, it shouldn't have hyperdrive issues yet. But well versed as you were with glitchy hyperdrives you knew what to do. You pressed some buttons, pulled a lever, dragged the ship out of autopilot and twisted one final knob to drop out safely and without panic.
Your routine was correct. The ship dropped out of hyperspace but as the darkness cleared so did any sense of calm. You were already in the thermosphere, hurtling down to the forest covered grounds at electric speeds. Alarms blared as soon as the devices registered the new atmosphere and severe lack of control.
“Please slow down, your destination is ahead at 750 km,” The computer said cheerfully.
“Stupid thing! You’re going to kill me!” You yelled over the alarms.
“That’s not very nice,” The computer replied, “It’s not my fault the hyperdrive isn’t working,”
“You knew?” You shouted. The sides of the ship rumbled and rattled as the change in air density dragged along the surface. The holoprojector vibrated off the table, crashing to the ground and smashing into pieces. There goes all your holovid downloads, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Destination in 400km,” Every minute of your training was coming back as you worked through every combination of buttons and levers on your dash. Nothing was working.
“Computer? Is there still a parachute in this model?” It was archaic but you prayed that your ship was old enough to still be fitted with one. If it, wasn’t you were never going to slow down fast enough?
“Yes, would you like me to deploy it?” The computer asked.
“Yes!” You shouted at the machine.
“Deploying parachute,”
The parachute erupted from the back of the ship with a loud hiss and pop as it opened into the air. The sudden draw backward lurched you forward, smacking your head onto the metal dash in front of you.
You groaned, holding your hand to the injury immediately. A good splattering of blood now set across the screen and was dripping down your face into your eyes.
“Destiable approach im one minu,” The computer said. You frowned, trying to concrete over the throbbing pain in your head. “Systeeee affectabed,”
“Please tell me I’m not having a stroke,” You pleaded. You were not. You could speak and understand language perfectly. The computer, however, was not okay.
Computers are all well and good, very helpful things to have around that is until their processors are catapulted out by a poorly fitted fabric parachute.
You didn’t have time to worry about the broken computer as the trees below were coming closer and closer.
“Fourteenth millennia remaaaa,” The computer slurred. You ignored it. You didn’t need a reminder of how closer to being impaled by a huge tree you were. Instead of panicking you did the only thing you could, strap in and hope that it was all over quickly.
You pulled the straps of the pilot’s seat down tight over your arms, gripped the armrest tight and shut your eyes. The ship whistled through the air, the drag of the parachute doing very little to slow it down. You screwed your eyes shut, cursing every god you have ever known at your terrible luck. You would never see your family again, never see your friends again, and even more importantly you would never find out who killed the nurse in Anzarch Hospital!
The first contact with forest sent the ship off its course, spinning wildly out of control as the craft hit branch after branch. You screamed as the ship tumbled to the ground.
Finally, you came to a stop. Upside down, hanging from a tree, your ship rocked from side to side. You groaned, aching all over from the rough treatment of your descent. You spat out the blood that had pooled in your mouth and tried to think of a plan. Much like the now dead computer you couldn’t really think in words. More drawled sentences drowned out by pain.
The smell of fuel was the thing to get you moving. You gently unbuckled yourself from the seat, careful to not drop yourself on the ceiling and injure yourself anymore. You climbed around the small circular pod to reach the door.
Inhospitable atmosphere. Air unfit for external respiration, respirator advised.
You grumbled and cursed as that warning meant you’d have to climb up the wall of the still swaying pod to reach your kit. It was heavy and difficult to put on at the best of times, this was quite possibly the worst of times.
With a sharp tug the suit and helmet fell out of the cupboard above your head, narrowly missing you as it fell. Carefully, so as not to trip on the steel beams of the ceiling at your feet or cause the ship to swing and fall any further, you pulled the suit on. It was soft, having never been worn before, lightweight and fit you well. The helmet was heavy, a seal at the bottom to prevent any toxins leaking in and the filter was attached to the back of the dome. It was not ideal but you hoped you could find civilization quickly and would be able to take it off fast.
Helmet on. Bag on. Boots tied. Out the door.
In the small amount of luck, you still held, the ship was only six feet above the ground. You sat on the top of the door and jumped out, landing gracefully on your feet in a large patch of unusual plants. The air filter quietly hummed as it set to work cleaning the air around you and you inspected your surroundings. That was where your luck ran out, as you gathered yourself together you looked to your wrist, to the screen of your watch to look at a map to discover the direction you should go, only to find it smashed beyond repair. You had no guidance.
Dark forest was all you could see in any direction. The canopy was so dense only a small sprinkle of light made its way to the floor. Bouncing off the particles in the air, the space around you glittered in the light. It was silent, only the wind rustling through the grass and twigs under your boots made any noise. You picked a direction and walked, hoping you would come across someone soon.
You found a single well-trodden path after an hour of walking through waist high grass, the pollen of which had now covered your suit in a green blue film that made your hands itch terribly when you touched it, bringing up red rashes almost immediately.
The path made its way through the trees, more light coming through as you made it to the edge of the forest. You couldn’t make out much beyond the break in the trees as the contrast between the darker interior showed the outside in white light. You smiled; open space probably meant civilisation!
As you approached the light your eyes began to strain. Sharp pain cut into your eyes, you groaned and squinted bringing your hands to your helmet to cover them automatically. It was no use as a migraine was quickly taking hold. You continued forward, finally breaking the tree line, feeling the heat of the sun through the thin fabric of your suit.
Then everything went black
--
“What a curious creature,” A low voice woke you. Slowly you gained consciousness, immediately aware of the throbbing pain throughout your body, you pushed to sit up only to feel a heavy weight on your shoulder, “Careful now,” The stranger warned you. You peeled your eyes open and looked up at the creature that spoke. Dome headed in a yellowed fabric suit, Light reflecting off his head obscured his face. The creature spoke kindly and you would have believed the tone too if it weren’t for the pressure of his foot on your forearm and gun in your face. “What’s a thing like you doing in these parts?”
“I-I’m injured,” You tried to speak confidently but your pain overtook your tone as you opened your mouth, “My ship crashed not far from here,”
“Curiouser and curiouser,” The creature mused.
“Please,” You choked out as darkness threatened your vision once more, “Help me,”
The creature frowned, contemplating his decision as if he were choosing a candy bar at a corner store. You tried to move from under him but the effort was too much and you fell into unconsciousness again.
As your eyes closed and breathing softened, the stranger released his foot from your shoulder. His boot left a muddy footprint on the white material that covered your arm. He watched you for a few more seconds, then presuming you were dead he stepped over your body to the blue rucksack that had fallen just behind you. He was in desperate need of medical supplies and clean clothes wouldn’t hurt either.
The stranger rooted through the rucksack, pulling all kinds of things out. Clothes and food, writing equipment and a flip up device that he did not recognise as anything useful. There were no weapons, and no survival equipment of any kind. You were packed for a Sunday stroll, not a trip to the Green. Whoever you were, you were not like the usual people who came here.
The stranger’s cool demeanour changed when he saw your identification card. A gold card, approximately the size of his palm fell out of the bag and into his lap with a soft tap. He picked it up and inspected it, instantly knowing he was screwed. The Guide’s golden emblem was easy to recognise, while he couldn’t read the language that inscribed the card, he could make assumptions. You were a researcher. It was a well-known fact that Guide researchers were protected. If anyone found out you were dead, he would be convicted no matter what he said. There would be no planet in the entire universe he could hide on from the Guide.
Begrudgingly, he had to save you.
Without any other option, he shoved the contents of your bag back inside its original case and threw it over his shoulder. Then came the difficult task of moving you. It wasn’t for lack of strength that the stranger had difficulty with this task, more to do with the fact he had only one arm. He knew it wasn’t far to his camp, he had only been walking for five minutes before you fell into his path.
He couldn’t carry you. With only one arm it didn’t matter how strong the man was he could never hold you up well enough. He tried to wake you first, it would be far more helpful to him if you could walk. He shook your shoulders to try and rouse you but you were out cold. He had no choice but to drag you.
A quick assessment of your body told him you were not injured too badly, apart from the sores developing on your hands from exposure to pollen and a wound on your forehead inside your helmet. He checked your pulse again, feeling it strong through his gloves he was happy that you were not dead and would not be wasting his time. He grabbed the fabric around your shoulders and pulled you back to his camp.
It took a while but he made it there safely without cracking your helmet or injuring you anymore. He set you down on the floor of his tent, pulled his helmet off for comfort, then got to setting up a recovery bed for you.
The stranger pulled a rolled-up mat from under his cot and placed it on the ground and finally rolled your body in its final place on top and he waited for you to wake up again. It wouldn’t take long, he heard you mutter something as he carried you back and even in the low light of his tent, he could see your eyes moving behind your eyelids. The stranger sat on the edge of his cot, watching you carefully with his weapon in hand in case you woke up violent.
After a few moments, you began to stir. The first thing you noticed as you gained consciousness was the pain in your body. Every inch of your body throbbed but nothing more than your head. You felt hard ground beneath you, but no leaves or dirt, it was cold to touch. You peeled your eyes open, met with a low orange light bouncing off dark tent like material.
“Do not be alarmed,” A man said from across the room. You immediately turned your head to see but saw nothing more than a dark blob, “You are safe,”
You found it very hard not to be alarmed. The last thing you remembered was getting out of your ship into a forest, now you were in a small dark tent lit by one single golden lightbulb with a strange blob sat across from you.
Carefully, you pushed yourself up to sit up from your position on the floor. Noticing the blob was more of a man, and without a helmet, you figured it was probably safe to remove yours. With a sharp tug and a hiss from the oxygen tank you were open to the air and you set the helmet down next you. You rubbed your hand across the back of your neck, screwing your eyes shut as a headache shot through your skull.
You studied the man in the soft light. You could not guess his age, simultaneously old and young, you guessed he was a little older than you. He had tanned skin and dark hair with a curious white, blonde streak in the front. A surprisingly well-kept moustache and a spattered beard covered his lower face and a white scar on his left cheek all together created an intriguing character.
“Are you comfortable?” He asked. You nodded. His kindness was unsettling. There was a gentle tone to his voice and a kindness in his eyes but everything outside of that was the complete opposite. You could not remember how you got here; all you knew was the pain your body was in. Had he attacked you? Had he saved you from something else? He could have killed you, but he didn’t. Something must have enticed him to save you and bring you here. Then you saw it.
In the stranger’s hand, he held a gold card. Your identification card. The golden emblem projecting from the card flickered in the poor light, showing your name and number and rank.
“Should I be asking for an autograph?” The stranger looked back up at you, a smirk on his lips, “I’ve always wanted to meet an author,”
“I-I am not an author,” You coughed, clearing your throat before speaking, “I’m a researcher,”
“You pen those books though, don't you? The Guide?” He asked, “There’s not that much literature being produced this day and age,”
“Technically, but we like to think it’s a team effort,” You shrugged, “I just collect the data and write preliminary reports,”
“Does your team know you’re lost here?” The stranger asked.
“No, I… I don’t know,” You said sadly. The computer had broken before you could send a distress call. With no way to get a message to them from the outer ‘verse it would take weeks for anyone to realise anything was wrong, “I would have to find a signal strong enough to send a distress message but the only way I could do that was with my ship,” You thought aloud. You paused for a moment, trying to remember what actually happened when you fell from the sky, “Where is my ship? Where are we?”
“I never saw your transport I’m afraid,” The stranger said, “You must have walked a considerable distance before crossing paths with me,” You frowned, without your ship you were stuck, “I brought your backpack, if that's of any aid to you,”
You immediately lit up. Taking that as a yes, the stranger reached over the cot and pulled up your rucksack. It was caked in mud and a lot less full than you know it should have been, but you ignored his looting and grabbed the bag from his hands.
The only things left inside were your underwear and a hygiene kit. Your stomach twisted at the thought that you had lost the most important item in the bag. Dumping the contents on the floor you searched through every pocket. The Stranger watched you, one brow raised, wondering what you were looking for.
“Did you take it?” You asked, “It won’t work for anyone but me, you might as well give it back,”
“I do not understand,” The stranger looked puzzled, looking down at the things on the floor to see what had upset you.
“My Guide, where is it? I don’t care about the other things, I need that back,”
“There were no books in there,”
“That is Federation property,”
“You’re going to have to explain what it is you’re so agitated about; I do not know what your Guide is,”
“You do, because you stole it!” You exclaimed. Raising your voice made your head hurt more, you flinched and screwed your eyes shut again.
“I am many things but I am not a thief,” The Stranger was offended by your accusation. You scowled at him. He was a liar and a thief, “I took the food from your bag as payment for my saving you,”
“The Guide uses my biometrics, it won’t be of any use to you or anyone you could sell it to,”
“Hold on, do you mean the flip device?”
“Yes!”
“That thing’s important?” He seemed genuinely surprised, “You can have it, it’s no use to me,”
The stranger stood up and walked the two steps to the other side of the small space. From a cluttered table he picked up the black computer. You sighed in relief, there could be some hope for you yet. He passed you the gadget which to your amazement was still in working order. It had got a little scratched in the crash but you pressed your thumb to the lock and it opened it instantly.
Every researcher had their own personal guide. Similar to an ancient flip phone, used commonly on Earth in the early 2000’s, each Guide was a little bigger than your palm. Though small, it was very mighty. Not only did it store every piece of information a researcher collected, but it also allowed communication through text, audio and holo. Through the System there was unlimited access to other researchers' files, yet unpublished information and access to the ‘verse's existing records. There were maps and history of every planet, and more importantly to you at that moment, census records.
As you had expected, you had no signal on the surface of the moon to send a message to headquarters for a rescue. Instead you focused on what you could find out.
From the corner of your eye, you noticed the man’s suit. Though a little hard to read in the dim light you could make out what looked to be an ID number. You had to know who your captor (or saviour) really was. 875-162.
You typed in the worn black ink digits and waited. Nothing was notorious for its poor reception. The stranger was no longer interested in you know you were engrossed in the computer and not trying to attack him, he got up and was rustling around out of view.
Finally, the page loaded. A photo matching the stranger, though a little younger looking, flashed up in holo. You quickly covered the beam with your finger so as not to alert the man with you. You swiped down to read the information.
“Ezra,” You said under your breath as you read the page.
“I don’t remember giving you my name,” Ezra spoke, making you jump. You looked up, cheeks growing hot as you realised you had said it out loud.
“I searched your ID number,” you said, embarrassed you’d been caught, you told the truth. Ezra frowned, looking around him to see where you had seen it. You pointed to the suit piled up on the floor. The numbers were faded and hard to make out from the distance but you had worked it out. Ezra followed your finger and chuckled lightly.
“I forgot such identification exists,” He said, “You have good eyes to make it out from there,” He added.
You hummed in agreement. You were in perfect condition, had to be for the work. Perfect condition except for the concussion and various bruises on your body.
“Well now you know my name, can I enquire as to yours? I doubt that everyone calls you Researcher 42,” Ezra read your name from the ID card beforehand. Leant against the shelves next to him, he looked down at you.
“Some do,” You said plainly.
“That ‘some’ includes me, does it,” He raised an eyebrow, not expecting you to become so cold.
“Seems like it,”
“42 seems a little impersonal considering I just saved your life,”
“I’m meant to stay separated from my subjects. Anonymity helps with objectivity,” You explained. That wasn’t entirely true. You had always made friends with at least one person in every planet or city you researched. It was how you got the inside scoop, the local knowledge that made your articles so popular. Guide Guidance said that researchers stay anonymous for objectivity, but your popularity said otherwise. You just didn’t want to get any closer to Ezra, even just a quick glance at his record told you that he was not someone you wanted to be friends with.
As he had already shown you, he was a thief. He had been convicted of fraud, arson and two counts of murder. No wonder he was here. Most of the places in Nothing were hot beds for criminals like him. Nowhere in Everywhere would hire him, you expected that he had been hired by a contractor to come here and work for his freedom. There wasn’t much freedom stuck on the green though.
“Whether you give me your name or not, you’ve not got much choice in staying separated. A helpless thing like you will need protection here,”
“And you’ll offer that for free, will you?” You asked sarcastically, immediately knowing he would want something from you in return. You were already indebted to him for saving your life.
“There are a few things I desire,” He looked over your body, smirk twitching on his lips. You curled your lip and moved away from him.
“If you’re going to rape me, I’d rather try my luck out there by myself,”
“Oh no! No, little mouse I would never. I have done some felonious acts but I am not a savage!” He exclaimed quickly covering for himself. You regarded him sceptically. He had supposedly killed two people; he’d already crossed a line most people would not. You didn’t believe he wouldn’t step over that line too. “No, The Guide will want you back, I imagine anyone who returned you would be well rewarded,”
“Possibly,”
“Here’s my offer. I provide protection and shelter whilst you are here, and come that fateful day your deliverance arrives, you will negotiate considerable compensation for me,”
“What compensation would you want?”
“Enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my days free of obligation, a ship to get me off this rock and a clear record,”
“And if I say no?”
“Then you can see how well you fare in the forest alone. Food is pretty scarce this time of year and I wouldn’t put it past a few of them to push some more… basic human morals,” Ezra smirked as your eyes double in size. In all your travels you had never encountered cannibals, not human cannibals anyway.
“I- I can’t promise anything,” You stumbled over your worlds as you accepted faster than you should have. You didn’t know there was anyone other than Ezra on this planet, but you were not in the mood to find out.
“We will discuss details when the time comes,” He said. You nodded. “Now we have all that out the way,” He stood up from the floor, “I have to get to work,”
“What about me?”
“You aren’t coming with me,” He said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“But you just said-,” you started to protest until Ezra pulled a gun from seemingly nowhere, you immediately shut your mouth and flinched, “What is that?”
“Protection,” He held the gun out, waiting for you to take it.
“No, no, no! You said-“
“Until your people come to your aid, and give me my money, I’ve got to keep working. Any time wasted is money lost out here,” He explained impatiently. He stepped back closer to you and dropped the gun in your lap, “I assume you do know how to use that even if you don’t carry one yourself?”
You looked at the gun, assessing it properly. It wasn’t complicated, a barrel you assumed was already full of bullets and a trigger. Nothing you hadn’t seen before, apart from the electrical tape that was holding it together. With no more protest from you, Ezra assumed it was fine and stepped away, resuming his routine.
“I will be back at sundown. Help yourself to some food,” He told you.
“My food,” You corrected him.
“Remember who is dependent on who here, 42,” He said scornfully. With that he put his helmet back on to his head and left the tent leaving you all alone.
You waited a few moments to make sure he was gone before making your move. You couldn’t stay with a murderer. You were safer in your ship, wherever it was. You could make a distress call and be rescued. Ezra would never know.
You pushed the gun from your lap onto the floor and tried to stand up. Sat down you could feel how sore your limbs were, your back ached from just sitting up for a few minutes and you were pretty sure you could feel every bone in your feet. A light touch to the forehead told you there was a sizable egg growing on top.
Standing up the pain was worse. You immediately became dizzy, gripping onto the metal shelf quickly to stop yourself from falling. You cursed under your breath and took a deep breath. You could do it.
Or maybe you couldn’t.
You took one step towards the table of things Ezra kept, and fell back on your ass. You were lucky not to pull the shelves down with you as it rocked forward slightly. A few items fell off, narrowly missing you. You dodged the heavy items, cringing as the metal thumped to the ground.
Listening to your screaming body, you gave up. You shuffled back to your previously comfortable position against the wall of the tent and looked around you for something to keep yourself occupied.
There at your feet lay a small book. Ezra wasn’t lying when he said he wanted to meet an author, he apparently was a bibliophile. You picked the paper up, stretching to reach it over your bruised and aching legs. It was well worn, obviously water damaged as the pages curled and the image on the front as warped beyond recognition. The title: “Welcome to the Green”.
You were not going anywhere.

Fallout 4 Companions react to Strong having a crush on Sole
(REQUESTED!!) (im cackling like a maniac already)
Tumblr media
(I know I used this before but...This IS Sole and Strong)
some are them realising it and some are helping him come to the realisation  (some of the reacts even work together as one!)
Cait:
Tumblr media
Cait watched as Strong stomped back and forth in front of Soles house in Sanctuary, at 4 am, on a Sunday. ‘’Oi buddy! can ya quit yer stompin?’’ she whispers out angrily, putting out her cigarette onto the side of one of the small shacks sole built Strong grumbles under his breath which makes Cait come striding up ‘’what is your problem?!’’ she was trying her best to whisper at least ‘’Strong doesn’t know!’’ he roars back she covers her ears and sighs ‘’Listen big guy, people are tryin to sleep and they cant with you stompin around’’ Strong grumbles again and points at soles door ‘’Strong cant be without master’’ ‘’what you like a lost puppy or somethin’? yer supposed to be a big mean ol’ supermutant’’ Cait scoffs, now leaning against soles house ‘’NO Strong does not want to be, without master near him, makes Strong MAD!’’ Cait’s eyes widen and she backs away slowly ‘’good lord, you better talk to MacCready about that...’’
Curie:
Tumblr media
‘’Ah monsieur Strong!’‘ Curie waves strong over in a chirpy tune ‘‘How have our experiments gone so far? any pain? some memories? violent tendencies more than usual?’‘ Curie had gotten some data from some ‘hospital’ of sorts from New Vegas and was testing the medication in does on Strong so far nothing was different of course Strong was already more ‘Put Together’ compared to many supermutants and it had been a very small dose, ‘‘No strong want stop, making head fuzzy! weak!’‘ Curie nods and checks her chart ‘‘When does this usually happen or is it all the time?’‘ Strong stomps his feet slightly ‘‘If Strong is near master it becomes fuzzy! want to stop! need to be strong and protect Master’‘ Curie stops writing down in her notes and freezes ‘‘Oh Mon dieu’‘
Codsworth:
Tumblr media
Codsworth is what he calls ‘Smart for an old bot’ he knew from the get go, hes still full of old world ideals so he isn't to keen on it, considering supermutants are known as violent brutes as well, but he warmed up to Strong (well as much as one possibly could if they weren’t sole) and it became quite entertaining for him to watch over a cup of tea and a nice book (he makes the tea for show, sadly he cant drink it) as strong ‘somehow’ gets red when with Sole, it really makes Codsworth rethink many things
Danse:
Tumblr media
Danse...Isn’t exactly a fan of supermutants in general, that's just the way he’s  wired (haha get it...Ill go)
Strong would always try to size Danse up, whenever he would talk to Sole Strong would be there, either watching intensely with a violent glare or just interrupting whatever he could, so he went up to him and asked what his problem was, guessing it was because he used to be brotherhood and also because...Danse obviously wasn't a fan of him. Strong just stares him down and points a thick green finger to Danse’s chest poking it into him slightly ‘’Sole needs real man, not metal man’’ and walked off leaving Danse to be (the gif above)
Dogmeat:
You know that thing dogs do when they cover their eyes with their paws and or ears as well?...Yeah just that
Deacon:
One word nine letters  Terrified
Deacon thought it was kinda cute at first when he would watch strong follow Sole around, in that scary sort of way...in that way where little girls sing ring around the rosy or your child stands beside your bed in the middle of the night and says nothing, but then he noticed things...different things, like how he would rarely let anyone else around Sole, and that one time where they went to the third rail and that person tried to hit on sole and he chucked a tantrum and set the third rail on fire and- OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
Piper:
Tumblr media
Piper was making her usual rounds around Diamond City, trying to question whoever she could about her new piece ‘’Mirelurks and their MireQuirks’’ when suddenly she saw strong browsing the general supplies store she was confused why he was here alone, things may have changed since Sole came into play but he might still get given a hard time, he scratches his chin and Piper moves closer to greet him ‘’Master friend, Strong need gift for Master, Master gave Strong milk of human kindness’’ Piper thought this was very normal in fact and did help him pick out something, but then he turned to her and said ‘’How do humans show ‘E fec tion’ ‘’ and she froze ‘’Oh wow buddy i’m not the one for that um...Maybe Nicky can help he was married once well- when he was- when he wasn't- wait was he him- yes of course- um - but its- well-’’ Strong had enough of her blubbering and scoffs already walking off to see valentine, Soles gift in hand. Piper breathes out and then in deeply but then starts laughing softly, it was kind of cute really, but she didn’t think Supermutants could feel ..Love?, Piper had already found a new, and better article idea. SCORE
Preston:
Tumblr media
Preston sighs softly, wiping the sweat away from under his hat, taking it off to fan himself with it he noticed the ground rumbling slightly beneath him ‘’Strong that you?’’ Preston turns to the direction of the rumbles and places his hat back on, sure enough he was met with big green mean fighting machine, strong. ‘’You know master, what does master like, besides blood and fighting’’ Preston purses his lips in slight confusion an audible ‘huh’ leaving his throat ‘’Strong want say sorry for Third Rail on fire, Mack Ree Dee says I should show sorry with actions’’ Preston scratches the side of his face and stares at the ground for a minute ‘’why don't you go to diamond city? check out the stuff there I’m sure they would like anything from the surplus store’’ Strong grunts in agreement and stomps away again behind Strong stood MacCready with a tilted head and raised eyebrows Preston looks at him completely confused until MacCready takes his two fingers and draws a heart, Preston stands there dumbfounded his gun falling from his hands
Valentine:
Tumblr media
It was a slow day for nick, seemed not many people needed help nowadays guess he had Sole to thank for this time off, but he was getting a bit restless with all this sitting around waiting for something, he felt kind of bad for wishing for things to happen but he was sick of the small ‘Lost my cat’ or ‘forgot where my nuka-cola truck was’ and sick of the fact all of those were deacon in different wigs, so when his door opened he was pretty excited he turns his head up quickly and is met with strong slowly trying to squeeze into the door, he struggled for a few minutes before sitting down, and then breaking the chair, but he still sat in place on top of the broken chair on the floor, nick chuckles and rubs at his temples why was the world against him ‘’Strong, great to see you...What do you need?’’ strong was quick to speak ‘’Paper send me but before that pwes ton and then before that mac ree dee and then before him irish lady, and now im here help strong now metal man!’’ nick rubs the lower part of his face and sighs ‘’so...Paper? sent you specifically?’’ strong nods with a grumble ‘’Alright..tell me what you need’’ it was better than seeing deacon in a long blonde wig talking in a high pitch voice about his cheating husband for 5 hours ‘’Strong been told to come to you because you were married and I need to know E fec tion’’ Nicks eyes widen slightly, the pupils whirrling vibrantly this had to be one of deacons tricks ‘’Affection? for whom’’ Strong slams a big green fist on the desk, breaking it, nick pretends the desk is still there for sanity sake and rests his arms in midair ‘’For Master! who else would be good enough for E fec tion’’ Nick could die at that moment ‘’Alright Deacon you can come out now’’ Strong roars angrily ‘’Bald man at settlement!’’ oh god so this was...Serious, nick takes a looooonnngggggg drag of a cigarette and sighs ‘’Alright...ill help ya’’
X6-88:
Tumblr media
(petition for me to just use Raymond Holt gifs for X6 considering they are basically,,The same person like the personalities are spot on omg)
All of the companions where sharing their opinions/outlooks on Strongs growing affections on sole/if Sole would return them and all that, Hancock threw in a few sexual jokes (making everyone groan in different tones) while everyone else already knew X6 did not, and he found it obscene
‘‘x6, what do you think about it?’‘ Curie asks with her eyes full of curiosity, as always.
‘‘Absolutely...Not’‘
‘‘What do you mean ‘Absolutely not?’’ Piper asks with a joking scoff
‘‘it is ridiculous at best, there is no way’‘ the other companions sigh at him ‘‘hey it could be a real blossoming love my guy, they will have gorgeous half green babies’‘ Deacon says with a mouthful of carrot X6 looks at him in distaste and turns in his hair ‘‘X6! don't ignore us, stop being a grumpy pants you aren't in the institute anymore! love is real!’‘ Mac says excitedly X6 slowly turns his chair back and stares at him through his glasses
‘‘It might be, but not between sole and the supermutant, now before you complain, i am once again turning in my chair’‘
he will come around
MacCready:
Tumblr media
‘’MACK REE DEE!’’Strong stomped up to Mac at INCREDIBLE speed ‘’whoa there strong! you could flatten me buddy’’ he chuckled but he was literally terrified for his life seeing strong run like that ‘’Loud lady says you can help me’’ strong says bluntly ‘’help with what?’’ now mac was interested  ‘’I told her I didn’t want to be without Master and she tells me to see you little man’’ MacCready rubs his neck in confusion why would she send strong to him over nothing it was only natural that he would be if he considers Sole his Master ‘’After fire in Third Rail Master was upset at Strong, STRONG CANT STAND IT’’ Mac nodded slightly ‘’uh well...Sometimes a good ‘’hey I’m sorry’’ and some affection, maybe a hug and a gift can work?’’ strong seemed to like that idea ‘’I GO NOW’’ he roars ‘’whoa buddy wait! do you want me to tell Sole you’re leavin? I’m on my way to have dinner with her now’’ dinner!? Strong’s alarms went off in his head and he picks Mac up by his jacket snarling slightly ‘’Dinner?!’’ Maccready stares at strong, confused and terrified ‘’Um yeah...The thing people do to eat? she wanted Duncan and Shaun to meet formally? you were invited remember?’’ ‘’oh’’ strong slowly and gently (for a supermutant) and slightly dusts Mac off and turned away MacCready laughed softly at how strange he could be and then stopped dead in his tracks ‘’Wait what the fu- ‘’
Hancock:
Tumblr media
Once the institute was defeated Hancock and Sole both came up with the idea to have a party for everyone at the third rail, all of good neighbour was decorated from top to bottom with funny decor, synth scraps, all of that (much to x6′s dislike, he still went) everything was fine and dandy, everyone was partying it up, Magnolia switched It up for the night and was singing some upbeat party tunes, and then some random stumbled up to Sole, Hancock watched for a distance he knew Sole could handle themselves so he just watched silently, it was chill and all until Strong war cried, threw the person into some lit candles which then got caught on a decoration and set it on fire and then in shock some people bumped into each other and started fighting AND THEN as everything was going to shit Sole had to jump up to Strong to avoid the fire as it pooled around them, the way strong held onto Sole, told him enough whether supermutants could feel that kinda thing or not wasn't his business. Putting out his cigarette he sighs and decides to help in the chaos as Deacon walked into the third rail ‘’ I BROUGHT PIZZ- aaaa???!’’
BONUS
Sole:
Sole was sitting at dinner with Mac, Duncan and Shaun and turned towards the empty spot they had reserved for Strong with a sigh. They just continue to smile and eat, until the door gets fireman kicked down (I cannot stop with that) and strong appears Sole stands up and strong walks towards them, a pretty sweet looking belt in hand he throws it at sole and they catch it ‘’is this for me strong? well thanks! I-’’ then Strong picks them up and awkwardly  hugs them to his body sole struggles a little bit against him ‘’is this about the third rail? its alright strong I told you that I was just busy’’ Strong ‘’I’m trying to do human E fec tion’’ sole goes silent and then smiles softly ‘’thanks strong that’s really nice of you to do that for me, but you don’t have to I like you the way you are’’ strong slowly puts sole down and sole pats him on the arm
Mac and Duncan just looked at each other awkwardly and kept eating the whole time

update 4/27/21:
I'm working at a startup so it's extremely busy. but I love my job! i am trying to find the time to fit writing in my schedule tho. gonna figure it out someday lol. my stories are not abandoned, don't worry. all the endings and plot points have been planned. i'm just struggling to find the time to write atm. still very grateful for all the kind words and support you guys have given me over the years. hope all of you are out there living your best lives, exploring, learning, and finding joy in all the little things 😊 join my tag list (read the instructions pls) to get notified when I update my fics!
//
previous big update:
hello! i know i’ve been sort of mia but… it’s been an absolutely chaotic time for me.
the (long) story goes a little something like this:
earlier this year during spring break, i had friends who convinced me to give america a shot and apply for jobs after grad. i really didn’t want to because the visa process is a pain and it costs a lot. also, not a lot of companies want to hire internationals so it’s very demoralizing to receive a million rejections… but my friends are very persuasive people lol.
so it was super hectic during the last few months I had in the country as i tried to get through the visa process, study, work, beef up my resume, apply for jobs and graduate at the same time. (i understand that a ton of people have to do this too… but it’s hard y’all). anyway, one Medium article, one cold email, and a number of grueling interviews later, i found out i got a job!
now i just had to convince my parents… this was actually in all honesty, the most stressful part. i love them to death but my father really made it feel like i was choosing between my family and a job and ngl i cried myself to sleep on the regular. in the end, he finally gave me the okay to take the job but i know he’s still very upset. that’s honest to god the worst part. (my mum’s been super supportive tho so i guess that’s the silver lining in all of this!)
prior to getting the job though, I was really in limbo. I had returned to my home country because I and by extension, my parents, were not confident that i was going to be able to land a job in the US. I was very confused because I was neither here nor there. I was interviewing with the american company from my home country, trying my best to make sure they’d still be interested in me as a candidate no matter how many hurdles there were. then, to ensure that I had a safety net, I was also doing interviews locally and sending out resumes whenever I could. I was exhausted. and I know everyone goes through the job hunt so it’s equally as exhausting for everyone but yeah it was not a fun time.
anyway so now that I took that job in america i gotta move halfway across the world again, but this time without financial support and i don’t know… maybe this is the first time i’ll be truly independent and ya im seconds away from shittin myself. really gotta put on my big girl pants and try to not be broke yeet yeet.
but uhh that’s the low down on why i haven’t been able to write much at all…….. and yeah! working on it tho… haha always working on it.
to end all of this, I just want to say that I’m super lucky to have all of you. I basically got the job because of that article I wrote. I know I sound like a broken record talking about my article over and over but I dunno I guess all of this is just a little wild to me ahah.
I owe a lot of my confidence in my writing to all of you. I personally think my writing improved bc of this blog and the support you guys give me is… unreal (“: I know it may seem insignificant to some of you to reblog/like and comment on a fic but it really spurs me creatively and makes me feel sort of confident about my writing. all of that is probably why I didn’t think twice about hitting that post button on my article. although it’s a very different type of writing… I don’t know it’s just knowing that my writing is worth something… knowing that my writing is worth taking 5 minutes out of your day to read, is pretty cool and you guys kind of gave me that! (i am in no way saying that my writing is the best thing on earth. far from it. but i think you guys understand what i’m trying to say!)
so in some way, you guys helped me get a job! nice work team hahahah. also, also i just want to say, never give up. I decided I wanted to try my luck at the American job market maybe around the end of March and graduation was in early May. so I had about more or less a month to do something. I knew I needed a way to set myself apart from everyone else because my gpa wasn’t stellar and I hadn’t had any internships in America. not to mention the fact that I was an international student hence it was even harder to get hired. so basically, why would a company pick me over the next person? I thought perhaps knowing how to code was the way to give myself an edge so I learned some basic python and sql but then I realized there wasn’t really an impressive project I could attempt within that short time frame and I also knew far too little to do anything anyway. this meant that I was back at square one.
so, I switched gears instead. I sat down and really thought about what I could do. I concluded that at the very least, I could write. I knew I could write so I needed something that I could use along with my writing and I was like… it’s gotta be data! knowing that, I picked up the basics on how to use Tableau and I also picked up VBA macros in excel (if you don’t know what this is… I think you should Google it. it will literally blow your mind. excel can do a lot more than you can imagine). Then, I picked what I wanted to write my article on, got the data I needed from google trends, used vba macros to make the calculations faster, used tableau to make charts based on the data and photoshop to spice up the charts and etc. I did my research in the meantime as well and had a rough plan on what I was going to write about. after this, it was all systems go and it went a little like this:
wrote the article. attached my charts. linked the links. hit that post button. applied to all the jobs & companies that I thought would see value in what I did and can do. got rejected many times. felt discouraged. did more searching on companies that were willing to hire internationals. decided to send a cold email to a company. ACTUALLY HEARD BACK. went through multiple interviews. ACTUALLY GOT THE JOB.
so guys, never give up. recognize your strengths and build around that. if you think you don’t have any strengths, look harder. if you still feel you don’t have any, make the effort to learn something. it’s never too late for anything. I did all of that in one month and 10 days (the learning stuff and writing the article thing I mean). always be open to learning. I say this so much irl that my friends are sick of it but in this day and age with the internet, you can literally learn anything. so please, learn. learn for fun, learn for whatever reason. learn anything. you’ll never know when it’ll come in handy. like my basic Photoshop that I learned just so I could make a header for my blog… literally used that skill for the graphics in my article lol.
anyway, you can achieve a lot more than you think you can. you just gotta throw caution to the wind and do your own thing. be determined, be proactive. if things aren’t going the way you think it should be, do something to change that. you are all amazing and capable of great things! I hope you all know that. my mum always said if you never try, you’ll never know. don’t be afraid, don’t stop to think about what other people will think of you. keep doing you. people doubt you enough so don’t add to that. keep your head held high and keep moving forward.
once again I want to thank you guys for being sort of a support system for me! every comment, nice ask and sweet message has brought me this far. i really mean it (’: always be nice and supportive my sweet dumplings. your words truly have impact!

I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE!
Day 5: Starry Night, for my Spring Short Story Writing Event
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Sorry!” Someone says, startling you out of your calm state. It’s 9pm and you’re lying on a blanket at the top of a tall hill in the park. The spot you had claimed as yours since the past week, where you come to relax and just breathe after long days. You always had a thing for laying down in the great outdoors to sort of unwind and let your body and mind breathe, and suddenly, there was a slight interruption, a bump of something hard and metallic against your outstretched leg. Opening one eye, clearly annoyed, you look to the intruder.
It’s a guy you’ve never seen before, his sweatpants hanging a little low on his hips and his short hair is messily pulled back as he circles clumsily around you looking up to the sky, bothering only slightly not to run you over with his… whatever he’s carrying. You sit up and notice his equipment, the heavy looking backpack, the small briefcase and the telescope he’s trying his hardest to set up. You deduce that’s what bumped into your leg as the guy continues to ignore your laying frame. He’s wearing glasses and he fixes them rashly, his face clean shaven and young.
You’re about to ask him to leave you alone and tell him this was your spot, as if you could claim a section of the public park, but he doesn’t let you begin when he’s crouching and looking through the lense excitedly, quickly reaching into his bag to take notes.
“Uhh, excuse me?” You start but he’s too busy looking at whatever he’s looking at, squinting through the tiny hole, to even chance a glance at you. In fact he shushes you as he takes his eye off the lease to scribble something hastily.
You give him a glare behind his back and scoot over closer to him “Hello! I was here first!” The guy all but whines.
“I’m sorry, I’m just… I’m trying to work on my thesis”
Thesis? This guy couldn’t be much older than you. What? 23 tops? And he was working on his thesis? You notice all the scattered books that have flown out of his backpack in his frenzy to study the sky. Astronomy, Physics, The universe and us, A brief history of time.
After sitting there confused for a few seconds he finally addresses you, once more apologizing as his fingers maniacally tremble and play with the frames on his face. He’s shy, excitable, and giddy, almost reminds you of a puppy or a toddler, seeing the world for the first time, as he explains he’s an astronomy major, a freshman like you, and since day one he’s decided to study and try to catch patterns in the night sky and stars in a yearly basis, but first he had to find a spot that would allow him so, to sit and examine almost on the daily to grab the correct data. This, the tallest hill of the park – your spot to relax – was it.
“Well –“ you begin, sassily and brushing imaginary dust off your legs – “this was my relaxing spot first” you state matter-of-factly, returning to lay down as if claiming your territory and expecting him to pack up and leave but all he does is stare at you bitting his lip, and then he shrugs with a smile slowly creeping in. “I won’t interrupt you…” he says and you can tell he’s already made up his mind, he’s not leaving your spot. “Would you mind sharing your spot with me every now and then?” And you eye him with one eye open, head resting on the palms of your hands, you sigh closing your eyes and extending one hand towards him. “Y/N” “James”

“Turn your music down” James, or well, Bucky as you’ve grown to call him over the months, now almost a year, tells you as he squints and spies on the specs of stardust in the dark sky through his telescope. You’re listening to some albums your creative writing teacher recommended for the upcoming months – your favorite elective so far, guaranteed – With a quick roll of your eyes you oblige, ticking the down button on his computer and returning to taking notes on your notebook as you lay on your tummy, using your free hand to push some of your now shorter hair away from your eyes as the breeze fluttered it around.
“Find any new constellations worth naming after your sister?” “Nope” Bucky chuckles, and reaches to grab a sandwich from the picnic basket you’ve brought for the day without glancing away from the telescope “Not yet… Pass me my B chart?”
You don’t take your eyes away from your book as you reach over to his backpack and pull out a thick roll of paper he’s tried to explain to you over and over but it always goes over your head, every single dot is a star that you can’t place whenever you look up, and you think it’s a superpower of his, how he finds exactly the constellation he’s looking for – In his eyes, your superpower is how you easily know every single song and band from the 70’s.
You continue like this for a little longer, and later when you start to yawn, Bucky is right there with you and you both pack up in complete sync as he finishes his sandwich and sends a text to his roommate, the two of you walking together down a few blocks. His slight stubble and thicker frames adorning his face, different than when you’d first met. “See you tomorrow?” “Can’t, have this event to attend to, extra credit” “Wow, look at you needing extra credit” “Shut up. Friday?” “Sure, your turn to make sandwiches”
And then you go your separate ways.
☆。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ 。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ ☆  ・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ 。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚☆
“Wait, the box with like... the- the triangle on top?” “Yes! yes! Ok, now now, do you see Cassiopeia?” he leans over you from behind, clapping excitedly. “Now you’re asking for too much” you lean back and sit away from the telescope in a fit of laughter that Bucky joins in. His now long hair is pushed back into a bun, away from his eyes, but a few strands adorn his face, and he’s changed his frames a second time this year, these ones you like way better, not so thick as the ones he used to have last year and not wonky like the ones he just switched out of.
He’s looking at you through them, appreciating how the new glasses are so clean and pristine he can see you perfectly through them and he enjoys the view.
His phone chirps on the blanket you’re both sat on, right next to the familiar picnic basket you’d bought all those years ago. It’s Steve, FaceTiming him. You greet him as well, he’s now your friend too, and you’re trying your best to see if you come up on the video despite it being so dark out. “Oh, you’re in your spot” he says it, almost mockingly, given he’s always found it kinda funny how you’ve both grown to call this your spot. This patch of grass at the park was yours and Bucky’s to keep. “Whatcha need punk?” Bucky doesn’t want him to keep mentioning their spot like that, specially because Steve always does it in this tone that sounds like he’s saying I told you so, you’re blind if you can’t see you’re head over heels for her.
Bucky doesn’t want to talk about that or bring anything that could indicate to that, certainly not in front of you. “Think you took my car keys, idiot, I’m stranded at the apartment.” Bucky curses under his breath. “They’re at your place” he says looking to you and you shrug, it’s no big deal, you can swing by and get them on your way back, after all, Bucky was done stargazing for the night and you were done Bucky-gazing as well.
☆。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ 。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ ☆  ・:*:・゚・:*:・゚ 。・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚・:*:・゚☆
“You nervous?” It’s a chilly spring night when you lay on your back on the red and white checkered blanket, looking at the stars, with Bucky next to you laying in the opposite direction. This time around there’s no telescopes, no mess of notebooks strewn around you, and Bucky just tosses a ball up into the air and back into his hands, over and over as you just take in the night. You can’t remember the last time your spot was used for just relaxing. Surely, it’s happened many times over the course of the years, but these past months were filled with nothing but stress, which is exactly where your question comes from.
“For my thesis presentation?” He asks, turning slightly to face you. You’re upside down in his eyes but still way too pretty through his contacts – a fact you’re not so happy about him no longer having the dark frames adorning his face, you’d grown quite used to it, but you’re glad he at least chose clear contacts, means his eyes are the same vibrant blue, and he’s kept the beard despite going back to a shorter haircut, which is altogether a nice new look – You nod. “Almost crapping my pants” a nervous chuckle leaving his plump lips, and you laugh wholeheartedly. “You’ve got this in the bag. Been at it since you were a freshmen, if someone knows how the stars dance over new york city on a yearly basis, it’s you” “And you too” “Well I’m flattered you think this silly ol’ psych major has been understanding a single word you’ve said about time and space” this causes him to laugh out loud now, a little more at ease.
The breeze hits your face and you close your eyes, letting it consume you and relax your bones. Bucky can only stare from the corner of his eye. He’s thankful for whatever combination of events lead the both of you here and now, and there’s a smile he can’t contain, suddenly drawing itself on his features.
“That lab internship write back?” You continue with your eyes closed. You hear it in his sigh the answer is no, and your hand blindly but gently reaches over to scratch at his scalp in a soothing way, however you can. He likes it when you do that, really calms him down. “They’re missing out.” There’s a tenderness in your voice as you turn to look at him. You mean it, whoever is not giving him their time of day must be insane. He’s worth his weight in gold and more. “The idiots that refused your proposal last week are missing out too, big time” his hand reaches over to push a strand of hair back from your face and your smile is warm and so is your face and every place his fingers graze, getting a dorky smile out of you. You catch a small glimpse of the star pendant on his bracelet, you’d gifted it to him long ago and he’s had it close ever since.
There’s a silence that envelops the two of you, a kind you’ve experienced before during all those years. Whenever he was deep in thought analyzing bright specs in the sky behind the clouds, or whenever you were reading too intensely into some case study, there was always silence. The kind that screamed how well you two could coexist and be perfectly content with each other.
“Look” you say, and point away from him, up and to the left. “Ursa minor”
Bucky looks and immediately bursts into surprised laughter. “Oh my god! It took me four years but you finally can find Ursa Minor on your own without a telescope!” He’s short of clapping amusedly. You push at him almost making him roll away down the hill some and calling him a jerk as his laughter calms down and he repositions his body to a sitting position. It doesn’t take you long to join him, the both of you facing the rest of the park over your hill
Looking at the time you know it’s late, usually the two of you are packed up by the time midnight rolls around, but just for tonight you’d rather stay and enjoy the company under the bright light of the stars. Bucky points somewhere in the distance, probably another constellation you can’t name, except, because he’s a great teacher – you’ll remind him later that he should look into that teaching position Professor Ruffalo had suggested – you can now recognize some shapes and this is definitely not a constellation he’s told you about before.
He traces the outs of it, just five stars that almost make the shape of a heart if you squint hard enough. “Discovered a new constellation” “Did you now?” You glance at him, taking in his features and how he slowly looks back at you, time seeming like it’s stopped, even though Bucky knows that’s impossible. The pull you have on him is comparable to that of a black hole, except you’re so bright it burns, and it’s continued to burn through the years ever since that day his old telescope almost broke because he was too busy trying to stop you from tripping down the hill, not that it was insanely dangerous, it’s just you were – are – insanely important, and he realized you were it for him. With all the star and space puns you’d googled just for him, and with your crazy theories about people’s minds and your unwavering dedication to everything you did. “… yeah…” came out of him barely above a whisper. He’s been jokingly discovering constellations with you since his sophomore year, and you found it even more charming every time. Lost in his eyes, you’re only slightly aware that you’ve cupped his face in your hand and now the tip of his nose has met the tip of your nose and it’s a nano second before his lips have met yours and you’re melting into him, allowing him to take your breath away, and being hypnotized by his always minty breath.
It takes a lot in him to stop kissing you, but he has to pull back to breathe and make sure it’s all real and not just another dream. He can barely separate from you though, just enough that he can breathe and mutter some words to you, but you’re there, so so close, just how he wants to keep you. He’s tired of looking at stars that are damn far away, so it’s nice to see one so up close. “Would it be too corny if I said I named that new constellation after you” he murmurs, just above a whisper, and you giggle, pressing your forehead to his. “yeah.” And you shrug as if saying you don’t care. “kinda cute tho” “you like cute” it’s more of an affirmation, he knows you too well by now. The two of you basically eskimo kiss through the short hushed conversation. “i love cute” “noted” He’s smiling, breathlessly as he closes the distance and kisses you again and again and again. It makes the spot – your spot – unforgettable, and even more so when a year and a half down the road he’s on one knee right there, promising you the stars as you assure him he’s already given you the whole sky.

capable || yugyeom imagine
A/N: LMAO I lied, this took me longer (and became longer) than I anticipated. Also are any of y’all stressed as well with how much the boys have been blasting our ass with content lately LOL (but can’t complain, we eating good every day.) Anyways, this one’s dedicated to JUS2. (also gif ain’t mine!)
Tumblr media
He knew everything his co-workers said about you were all just rumors. When Yugyeom was assigned to work with you on your upcoming project, he made it his mission to get to know you better.
You blinked a few times, slowly processing the words of the President, before glancing back up at the tall frame sitting across from you, beaming and giving you a small wave in return.
“Manager Kim from Marketing has just the connections and expertise you need for the upcoming project, so we want you two to work on it together,” President Park had announced during the PR meeting. “We expect you both to have the pitch ready to present to our shareholders within a month.”
As much as you wanted to, you knew it wasn’t your place to protest, lest you wanted to enter your office the next day with a crisp termination letter waiting for you on your desk. So you simply nodded, a thin smile plastered on your face as President Park droned on about next steps on the project. Your project. They didn’t trust you to accomplish this all by yourself. You knew that was really why they were imposing this partnership upon you.
But why Kim Yugyeom of all people? Did they really think you were that incompetent? You didn’t talk to Yugyeom very much—granted you didn’t really talk to a lot of your co-workers if it didn’t have anything to do with a project you were working on. You also didn’t know much about him. Yugyeom could have been great at what he does in his department. But with what you did know about him, you weren’t sure if he would be the ideal partner to work with.
Yugyeom seemed...childish? For lack of better words? Or naïve, maybe? He was known to come into the office with just a minute to spare, greeting each and every person as he strolled over to his cubicle. Maybe it was just you running on little sleep, but sometimes his greetings were a bit too loud to start off the morning. He could often be seen goofing off with Bambam from Production by the water cooler before Director Tuan would scold the two of them to go back to whatever they were getting paid to do. Yugyeom fittingly and energetically lead a small group of university interns in working on smaller projects for Im Inc. The interns would follow him closely around the office like ducklings, hanging onto every word that carelessly left his mouth.
“Director?”
You shook yourself out of your thoughts, realizing that President Park had adjourned the meeting for lunch as your peers were getting out of their seats and slowly shuffling out of the conference room. At some point, Yugyeom had made his way over. He stood before you, gazing down at you expectantly with a gentle smile, his hands settled behind his back.
“Did you want to meet to come up with a management schedule for the next few weeks?”
You stood from your seat, though the new elevation barely changed your perspective as you still found yourself having to crane your neck to look at Yugyeom. “Sure. Come to my office after your lunch break so we can plan.”
“Director, are you not going to get lunch with the others?” Yugyeom asked, trailing behind you as you exited the conference room.
“I need to discuss some files with Director Wang. See you after lunch.” With a short nod, you left him.
Even though Yugyeom was actually heading in the same direction as you were, he knew it was better to wait a few seconds until you were out of sight before leaving as well.
——
Working with Yugyeom was actually a lot better than you anticipated. You were surprised with how well he stuck to the hard deadlines you both came up with and like the President had said, he actually did have a lot of helpful insight to make this upcoming product launch a success. He would appear in front of your office every day promptly after lunch, a shy smile peeking behind the glass door as if asking for permission. Yugyeom would only come in once he had your attention and you beckoned for him to enter.
Without meaning to do so, you had gotten to know Yugyeom quite well. You got used to his cheerful greetings—though they still felt a little loud on some slow days—as he bounded over to the seat across from your desk, the brown mop of hair on his head bouncing with each step. He liked to sing under his breath as he worked, bobbing his head to a beat only he could hear. Yugyeom was the only one to give you a detailed description of his morning when you’d ask him how his day was going so far out of courtesy. You learned that he lived in a studio apartment just two subway stops away (which he’d emphasized many times that although it wasn’t that far, it was always a struggle to get to work earlier because it was a battlefield trying to get on earlier subways.)  His best friend in the office Bambam (go figure,) who he met in university, was actually the one who recommended him for the position he currently held, and for that, he feels forever indebted to him because Yugyeom truly loved his job. He likes being able to motivate the university students in thinking out of the box and leveraging projects to match their passions, just as his seniors had a few years ago. A dream of Yugyeom’s was to work his way up in the company (which is part of the reason why he made it an effort to get to know all of his co-workers,) and maybe one day operate the company’s branch in the States.
Maybe he wasn’t as childish as you pegged him to be?
“Director, what kind of money do grandpas like? Hal-MONEY, HA! Get it?”
Then he’d say things like that.
It was half passed six. You and Yugyeom had been working since after lunch, sifting through the data that Department Head Choi from Research had dropped off earlier that day. The day had gone by with little to no incident. The both of you worked diligently to organize the data, with the occasional small talk that Yugyeom would try to engage in. You got used to Yugyeom playing music while you worked and actually kind of enjoyed the chill playlist he curated, just as long as it wasn’t too loud for you to not hear your thoughts. Yugyeom had opted to tap his foot silently beneath him so as to not distract you even more.
You gave Yugyeom a quizzical look as his giggling fit following his joke subsided. “Yugyeom-ssi, you should probably go home. It’s almost seven.”
He tilted his head sideways, giving you a curious look. “But what about you, Director?”
“There’s still some data that require infographics. I’ll finish them up before leaving,” you replied, returning your attention back to the charts on your computer screen.
“But I can’t let you work alone, Director! We’re a team!” Yugyeom insisted earnestly, gently pounding his fists on your desk for emphasis. “I leave when you leave.”
You glanced over at him briefly and gave him a short nod as you continued typing away. “If you insist.”
You two continued working, Yugyeom’s playlist being the only sound filling the air. Yugyeom had never been at the office this late, well after his superiors have left, but this seemed like a normal occurrence for you. You rarely looked up from your screen and didn’t speak to him unless you asked him a question or you were answering his. He found your focus quite admirable. It was no wonder you were the Director of PR at such a young age (he thinks Bambam mentioned once before that you were only a year or two older than them?) You were so determined to accomplish what you said you would in a timely manner, and Yugyeom silently hoped he could even have a fraction of your work ethic.
Half an hour later, Yugyeom felt his stomach starting to grumble. He looked back over to you, still hunched over at your computer screen deciphering the numbers in front of you.
“Should we take a break for dinner?”
It took you a moment to register that Yugyeom was speaking to you. “You can go get something,” you answered. You wouldn’t tear your eyes away from the screen.
“But Director...” Yugyeom began hesitantly. “You’ve been working for almost seven hours straight. You should eat something.”
You finally looked up at him. Yugyeom was looking at you with...was that concern? “I’m fine, Yugyeom-ssi. Please just get food for yourself,” you told him, silently appreciating the consideration. The last time someone worried about you eating enough was when you lived with your parents. “I just don’t have time to go and get food, there’s so much to do.”
Yugyeom’s eyes lit up instantly as he brought out his phone. “Then I’ll just have the food delivered here! I know a place that delivers great fried chicken.”
“Yugyeom-ssi, you really don’t—”
“Too late! I already placed the order.”
Another half hour and Yugyeom’s signature to an electronic pad later, there was a fresh hot order of fried chicken sitting on your desk.
“Now you have to eat it, it’s already been paid for,” Yugyeom teased as he started emptying out the contents of the bag on your desk.
You looked at Yugyeom for a moment, exasperation and fatigue in your eyes, before sighing. It did smell really good. And you did only take two bites of your sandwich earlier as you worked through lunch. “How much was it?” You asked, reaching beneath your desk for your purse.
Yugyeom shook his head. “Nope, not gonna tell you, don’t worry about it. My treat.” You looked at him skeptically, but he just chuckled. “You’ve been working so hard, Director. You deserve it.”
You sighed again as you put your purse back. He was right. Your brain was so fried you couldn’t even begin to calculate how much you probably owed him. You decided to leave it alone, you could probably order him a coffee the next day or something as a thanks.
“Thank you for the food, Yugyeom-ssi,” you stated softly, reaching for wing from the plate before returning your attention back to the charts on the screen.
“Director!” Yugyeom scolded, causing you to nearly jump from your seat. “Really take a break! You shouldn’t work through your meals so much!” As if sensing that you were going to reprimand him for speaking disrespectfully to you, he quickly continued. “Studies have shown that eating while working leads to decreased productivity, so taking a break to eat will help you to work to the best of your ability!”
Yugyeom laughed nervously as he took in your stern expression. He had really done it now. You were for sure going to tell him off to Director Tuan for talking down to you and he was going to have it out for him. Yugyeom could kiss this job and that new car was aiming to purchase by the end of the year goodbye.
But to his surprise, you simply gave him a small gracious smile and nod as you saved your work and put your computer to sleep. He watched as you pulled up your sleeves and propped your elbows up on your desk so you could eat more comfortably.
“Thank you again, Yugyeom-ssi.” Yugyeom noticed you close your eyes as you took a bite, as if savoring the well-deserved rest. He smiled at this, finally reaching for a piece himself.
“Oh Director! I got another one! What did the cookie say when it wanted to leave?”
——
Yugyeom and Bambam were gossiping by the water cooler in the break room (as per usual) when you walked in. They immediately stood upright from their relaxed positions to bow to you.
“Good morning Director!” They greeted hurriedly in unison.
“Bambam-ssi, Yugyeom-ssi,” you acknowledged them back with a short nod before heading to one of the cabinets. “How’s your morning so far?”
“Good! We’re fine! Not doing anything wrong!” Bambam answered panically, nervously laughing as you gave him a questioning look. When you turned back around, Yugyeom gently elbowed Bambam in the side, silently telling his friend to stop being weird.
You huffed as you opened the top cabinet and realized the box of sugar packets must have been towards the back. You knew you should have just kept a couple in your office so you wouldn’t have to go to the break room. Feeling two pairs of eyes watching your every move through your dilemma, you weren’t feeling like making a fool of your self trying to reach for the box.
You made the decision to save (some) face by grabbing one of the stools to stand on when you noticed an arm reaching over yours, grabbing the box you needed. You turned around, now face-to-chest with Yugyeom. You gazed up at him beaming back down at you as he handed you the box. The voice in your head told you to move back, but you were already leaning against the counter.
“Just ask next time, Director!” Yugyeom said cheerfully, sending a thousand-watt smile your way.
After muttering a short thanks and quickly exiting the room (without trying to look like you were scurrying away from the awkwardness you felt,) Bambam immediately closed the door and let out a cackle.
“Ayyyyye man, what was that?!”
“What was what?”
“That!” Bambam exclaimed, gesturing to the towards where the “incident” happened. “I’ve never seen Madame PR Director Boss Lady look so flustered like that before! What exactly is going on between you two?”
“Nothing...” Yugyeom groaned, shoving Bambam off as the other boy poked at him teasingly. “We’ve just been working together lately for that shoe launch promotion and our presentation is coming up soon.”
Bambam smirked. “You like her, don’t you? I saw the way you looked at her when she left!”
“Can you shut up with that? You got me this job, now you want me to get fired?” Yugyeom looked around the room for any potential cameras that might be recording their conversation. With all the gossiping he and Bambam did in that room when they were supposed to be working, Yugyeom wouldn’t be surprised if there were.
“It’s okay, I support it,” Bambam pestered on. “You know, there’s no policy against dating within the company. And with the Boss Lady’s wrath, it looks like she could use some di—”
As Yugyeom shoved Bambam and scolded for him to quit it, the break room door barged open.
“What are you two still doing here?! This isn’t social hour, get back to work!”
“Yes, Director Tuan!”
—— Yugyeom didn’t know what it was, but today you seemed...off.
You were more on edge than usual. Clicking your pen repeatedly even though you weren’t writing anything. Tapping your feet nervously. Sighing constantly. Usually you were the one requesting him to keep the noise down so you could concentrate, but now today you were the one breaking his concentration.
Noticing how curt your exchanges were today whenever someone rung your phone or came into your office to ask you a question, Yugyeom knew he had to approach you carefully.
“Director?”
“Hmm?”
“Are you okay?”
Yugyeom held his breath as you looked up at him, mentally preparing himself for the wrath you were bound to unleash on him. Not that you’d ever yelled at him before—you were surprisingly very patient with him—but today you were a ticking time bomb ready to go off at any given moment.
“I’m fine, why wouldn’t I be?” You asked, raising an eyebrow at him. It sounded as if you were challenging him so Yugyeom knew he had to be careful with his next few words.
“You just seem a little...tense today? Not that I’m telling you to calm down or anything because a man should never tell a highly-capable woman to calm down,” Yugyeom spouted, giggling nervously as head tried to decipher your rigid expression.
You noticed Yugyeom’s eyes trail down to the pen you were still clicking and immediately stopped. “It’s just one of those days, I guess,” you sighed once again.
“I know we’ve been knees-deep in work with the presentation just next week, but everything will fall into place,” Yugyeom assured you, beaming at you encouragingly. “You’ve been working very hard, Director. Chairman Im and President Park will definitely see that.”
“Right...” You nodded slowly, pursing your lips. “The presentation...”
Something in your averted gaze told him there was more to your mood that day. Sensing that he would push even further, you cut back in.
“Yugyeom-ssi, you should probably head home now.”
“But Director—”
“I insist.” Catching the sharp look in your eyes, Yugyeom knew it was best not to protest with you. After packing up his belongings and bidding you farewell, he headed out of your office, barely catching sunlight as he exited the building.
Yugyeom couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with you. After learning that he would be working with you on this project, Yugyeom was determined to get to know you better. He knew all the stories from the other managers (mostly from Bambam, but he had a tendency to gossip with whoever would listen to him so these stories had to have circulated) about how scary you could be were all just rumors.
“Did you know she blackmailed President Park so she could become PR Director? She knows his deepest darkest secret and told him she would only keep it if he promoted her.”
“I heard she fired her previous secretary for accidentally mis-scheduling a meeting by a half hour. A half hour! The secretary had just graduated from one of the top universities in Europe!”
“Don’t ask her any personal questions unless you want Chairman Im to hang your head on his wall the next day.”
Yugyeom would hear a new story almost every other day, each one more outlandish than the previous. He would head back to his cubicle when water cooler conversations with his colleagues steered in that direction. They didn’t even try to talk to you outside of business so what did they know about you?
What did he know about you?
In the last two weeks of working with you, the most that Yugyeom had learned about you was that you liked reading self-help books. In the conversations (not regarding the project) that you two shared (and they were scarce to begin with,) Yugyeom would tell you (unprompted but not unwelcomed) stories about things that happened while you silently but actively listened. Though most of your attention would be on your screen, you would glance over at him every so often and sometimes even ask follow-up questions. If his stories posed a problem requiring a solution, you would explain an anecdote from a self-help book you’d just read, mechanically solving his problem. Once he even noticed you smirk slightly after telling you a story about how he and Bambam once caught Chairman Im slip on a wet floor and fall straight on his bottom. It was a short upward quirk of your lips, but Yugyeom had definitely seen it with his own two eyes! He knew you weren’t the witch that everyone painted you out to be.
Yet after all of this, Yugyeom still knew next to nothing about you besides the information he could find on your company profile.
Yugyeom was a block away from the subway station when he realized he had forgotten to pack his laptop when leaving your office. He never was one to take work home, but he figured that since you were working diligently, he might as well too, even if you did send him out. You shouldn’t have to carry all the weight. Yugyeom turned around and headed back to the office.
He heard shouting as he entered. You two, once again, had been the last ones in the office so the noise had to be coming from your room. As he got closer to your office, Yugyeom recognized your voice and then a male’s voice.
“But baby—”
“Don’t ‘baby’ me! I told you last night we’re done!”
“Babe, it’s all a misunderstanding!”
“Oh really? Please enlighten me, how did I misunderstand a text message from a woman with a name completely different from mine saying ‘the bed feels so empty without you holding me?’”
“Well who told you you could snoop around my phone?!”
“It’s not snooping if you just leave your phone next to me and I can clearly see when you get a message!”
Before Yugyeom could even try to intervene, your door busted open. You stormed out, a large figure following after you.
“You had no right coming to my workplace, you’re lucky everyone’s out of the office,” you fumed. “Now get the hell out of my face before I call security.”
The man quickly grabbed you by the arms, causing you to drop your phone on the ground. “Oh yeah babe? You’re going to call security on me?” He moved his hand to grab hold of your chin. You tried earnestly to shake yourself out of his grasp. “After everything we’ve been through?”
“Hey! Let go of her!”
You and the man turned to see Yugyeom a few feet from you. You were instantly let go.
“And just who the hell are you?”
“Someone you probably shouldn’t mess with,” Yugyeom replied, trying to seem as calm and collected as possible but on the inside, he was completely freaking out. “Don’t you know that Im Inc. has state-of-the-art cameras rolling 24/7 in every corner of this place? So unless you want the leader of the most powerful conglomerate in the country to have it out for you by the morning because you’ve been harassing one of his top employees, I suggest you get out of here right now.”
The man glared at Yugyeom before turning back to you. “This isn’t over! I’m going to get you back sooner or later! You’re gonna wish you never let go of me!”
“Just get lost.”
The man stalked out of the office, cursing out you and Yugyeom along the way. Yugyeom kept his eyes on him, ensuring that he had actually left. He turned back to you once the coast was clear, but you had gone back to your office.
Before he could follow suit and ask if you were okay, you were coming out of it once again, hurriedly packing up your belongings into your purse as you locked up.
“Here’s your laptop. See you tomorrow, Yugyeom-ssi.”
Without a second glance, you promptly left him alone in the office, attempting to comprehend the last few minutes.
——
“This?! You expect our shareholders to want to keep investing in this company after we present them with this?!”
“I’m sorry, sir,” you apologized with a bow. You wrung your hands nervously in front of you as President Park continued to chew you out. Chairman Im hadn’t said a word to you yet but with the way you felt like you were burning under his gaze, you couldn’t bare to even glance at him, choosing to stare at one spot on the ground instead.
“I’m just so disappointed in you, Director,” President Park chided, shaking his head at you. “You gave us such high hopes.”
“I’m sorry, sir,” you repeated. What else could you say?
President Park sighed, turning to Chairman Im. “Sir, is there anything you wanted to add?”
Chairman Im leaned forward in his desk as he contemplated. You were burnt to a crisp. “You have a week before you need to present. If you screw that up...”
He never finished, but he didn’t need to.
You slowly dragged yourself back to your office after being dismissed. You’d been working so hard the last few weeks, how did you manage to royally screw up this much?
When you got back to your office, you were surprised to find Yugyeom sitting in his usual spot in front of your desk.
“Yugyeom-ssi? What are you doing here? We weren’t meeting today.”
The smile Yugyeom was ready to greet you with quickly faded away when his eyes met your sullen ones. You were worn out. Your face had gone pale, deepening the dark circles under your eyes. Some hairs had fallen from your usually neat ponytail, now framing your face. Yugyeom noted how your dress shirt had come untucked, small wrinkles scattering the fringe.
“Director, are you—what’s the matter?”
Though you were obviously shorter than him, for the first time, you had looked so small.
“The President just called me into the Chairman’s office, a surprise meeting,” you explained shakily, swallowing the lump caught in your throat. “They wanted to me to show them what we had so far.”
“A-and?” Yugyeom got out of his seat, taking a step towards you. “What’d they say?”
You shook your head. “They hated it. Everything—it was all wrong. We have a week to come up with something else.”
“Director...” Without thinking, Yugyeom gingerly placed his hands on your arms, willing you to look at him. He braced himself for the inevitable slap to his face, but instead he was met with your broken expression. There was a certain pleading in your eyes, as if silently asking him where you went wrong. It took everything in Yugyeom to not pull you into his chest and hold you tight.
But a comforting smile would just have to suffice. “Director, will you have dinner with me tonight?”
——
“Here you go! Wait a few minutes before eating.” Yugyeom beamed as he placed the bowl of instant ramen in front of you. You watched the small puffs of steam escape from the opening. “Hang on a moment, almost forgot the drinks!” Yugyeom walked back into the convenience store, returning a minute later with two cans of beer. He placed a can in front of you after opening it up. “Please eat, Director.”
After tipping your cans together in cheers and nodding a silent thanks to him, you slowly dug into your meal. Yugyeom smiled as you slurped noisily before he dug in as well. You seemed so hungry. Have you not eaten all day?
You hadn’t. As soon as you came into work today, you went right into back-to-back meetings. A finance meeting with Director Wang to discuss the feasibility of your promotion plan. A research meeting with Department Head Choi to go over some stats jargon from his department’s data that you didn’t quite understand. As soon as that meeting was over, your secretary had sprung on you that the Chairman and President wanted you to come in later that day to present what you had so far for the promotion so you had spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for that meeting. You knew you should have told Yugyeom about the last-minute meeting, but Director Tuan was already having him help him with another project so you couldn’t drop that on him too.
It wouldn’t have mattered anyways. The Chairman and President tore it to pieces in the end.
You could barely eat the roll you bought for breakfast that morning, your appetite diminishing as you recalled the events with your (now) ex-boyfriend from the night before. So now you were really grateful for Yugyeom’s invitation, even though his usual nagging for you to eat reminded you of your well-meaning but overbearing mother at other times.
“Thanks Yugyeom-ssi,” you whispered, pursing your lips into a grateful smile as you looked up at him.
Yugyeom grinned back at you once again. Though it was a slightly chilly night, his smile seemed to emanate a certain warmth. “This is nothing, Director. It’s so cheap! If only you let me buy you a proper meal, like the barbecue place I was talking about.” Your smile widened at this, though there was a tinge of sadness in your eyes. How could he be so nice?
“No, I mean thank you...for last night...” You looked down again, poking around the noodles in your bowl with your chopsticks. “Who knows what would have happened to me if you weren’t there...”
His expression became stern. “Was that...your...”
You nodded grimly before he could finish. “My bonehead of an ex-boyfriend still thought we were together after I broke up with him when I caught him cheating on me.”
“I’m sorry, Director.”
You shook your head resentfully. “Nothing for you to be sorry about.”
“But how was someone like you...with him...”
“Everyone thought we looked good together,” you reminisced, your voice laced with bitterness as you sensed where his question was going. “And my wide-eyed fresh-out-of-university self was stupid enough to believe that that and the fact that he came from a successful and well-off family would be enough to keep me happy.”
“I see,” was all Yugyeom could reply. He knew it wasn’t his place to keep prying about something so private. Surprisingly, you continued.
“It’s okay though, I probably deserve it. All of it.” Yugyeom tilted his head, giving you a questioning look. “I’m a monster.”
“What do you mean?”
“You think I don’t know what everyone’s saying about me around the office? How I’m mean, how I’m awful, how I’m scary, how I’m difficult to work with. How people should watch what they say around me or else I’ll slice their head off instantly? People can barely make eye contact with me, much less talk to me, especially if it’s nothing to do with work.” You were now tossing your noodles around furiously.
Yugyeom gave you a sympathetic look. “Well those people are all stupid and wrong. They don’t know anything about you,” he assured gently.
You nearly scoffed, looking at him incredulously. “Oh, and you do, Yugyeom-ssi?”
“No, but I want to.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, scanning Yugyeom’s face for any hint of insincerity. He was looking at you so innocently yet so genuinely that it was impossible for you to keep a serious expression with him. Your face softened as you averted your gaze back to your food.
“Do you have any idea of how hard it is to be the youngest female director in the most powerful company in the country? How I keep having to prove myself and my worth in every space that I’m in, even though I’m just as qualified if not more capable than all these older dude assholes up here with me?” You looked back up at him, meeting his concerned gaze. “So I’m sorry if I come off as a cold and unapproachable witch. There’s just no way anyone would take me seriously if I were otherwise.”
It was quiet for a moment as the two of you let your last words linger in the air, the slurping sounds from your resumed eating breaking the silence.
“Nothing for you to be sorry about.”
Now you were the one looking at him questioningly as he mimicked your words from earlier.
“Director, I may not fully understand you or your situation, but from what I’ve picked up on in the last few weeks of working with you, you are the last person who deserves all that’s been happening to you.” As he spoke, there was a certain fierceness in his eyes that you had never seen before. “You’re working harder than any one of them, always leaving the office after everyone else has gone home and barely taking breaks! I always have to remind you to at least take a five-minute bathroom break! You’re so passionate about your job and you’re detail-oriented and so organized and you always know exactly what you want and how to get it. I know I’m not the easiest to work with and I can be pretty distracting, but you’ve been nothing but patient with me when you’ve consistently had every right to throw me out of your office. I can’t help but admire you when I see you work because I can only hope to be a little more like you.”
“Yugyeom-ssi...”
“If there’s anyone who’s going to be able to scrap together a perfect presentation for the upcoming launch within a week, it’s going to be you,” Yugyeom spoke confidently. Without hesitation, he took your hand resting on the table and gave it a gentle reassuring squeeze. To your surprise, you had no intention of pulling away. “But Director, you need to stop going about everything alone. Even though I know you’re highly capable of taking on the weight of the world all by yourself, you shouldn’t have to. We’re a team remember? If you get burned, so should I.”
You just stared at him, completely speechless. Though he was not much younger than you, Yugyeom always seemed so boyish to you, with his wide eyes and child-like sunny disposition. Suddenly it was like he’d grown into a man right before your eyes. It would take your ex-boyfriend a lot of effort to conjure up such sweet words, but for Yugyeom, they seemed to easily roll off his tongue like the songs he’d sing in your office.
“Yugyeom-ssi, how could you be so nice...to me, of all people?”
He squeezed your hand again before giving you the same thousand-watt smile that had become an integral part of your day.
“Easy, Director. You’ve never given me a reason not to.”
After dinner, Yugyeom insisted on walking you to and waiting with you at your bus stop even though it was in the opposite direction of the subway station. As you two waited for your bus in comfortable silence, Yugyeom noticed a shiver run through you.
“Yugyeom-ssi, it’s okay,” you tried to fight back as Yugyeom shrugged off his jacket and placed it on your shoulders. He ignored your protests, silently adjusting the jacket so it suitably protected your upper body.
“Not because I think you’re incapable of keeping yourself warm, but you shouldn’t have to,” Yugyeom reasoned. He smirked as he watched you bite your lip to fight back a smile. You turned away from him, watching out in case your bus was arriving. Suddenly you felt a warmth rising up your cheeks. Was it because of the jacket?
“Ah, there’s my bus,” you motioned at the approaching vehicle. “Thank you for dinner again, Yugyeom-ssi. I’ll treat you too sometime next week.”
Yugyeom returned your now-unabashed grin. “I’ll be looking forward to it.”
As you were stepping onto the bus, you realized you were still wearing Yugyeom’s jacket. You stepped back off for a moment to call out to him, but he was already yards away, heading to the subway station. You shrugged, smiling as you pulled the jacket tighter around you and settled into a seat.
That night, you were able to get a full-night’s rest.
——
“Thank you so much, we look forward to continuing to work with all of you!”
You and Yugyeom went down the line of shareholders sitting before you, shaking hands as each of them praised you both on your presentation and expressed their excitement for the project. President Park came up to you as you finished speaking to one them.
“Good job, Director! I knew you had it in you!” Before you could register what was happening, President Park was pulling you in for a warm hug. “Chairman Im had nothing but great things to say during your presentation!”
“Thank you for giving us another chance, sir,” you responded, smiling gratefully as you pulled away. “But I have to give it up to Yugyeom-ssi. I wouldn’t have been able to pull this off without him.”
President Park nodded in agreement. “Didn’t I say he’d be perfect for this project? The chemistry when you both were presenting...you two make a great team!”
“We do, don’t we?” You mused out loud as you walked over to the boy—er, man in question. His face lit up even more than it already did when he saw you approaching him.
“Good job, Yugyeom-ssi,” you praised him. “Really, thank you so much for working with me. None of this would have been made possible without you.”
“You aren’t so bad yourself, Madame Director,” Yugyeom quipped back shyly. You both stood there for a moment just grinning at one another. Yugyeom sensed you had more to say so he waited for you to continue.
“Would you like to get dinner with me tonight?” You looked down bashfully, nervously tucking some hair behind your ears as you spoke. “You know to celebrate a job well done. And I still need to repay you for when you got dinner for us.”
Yugyeom would never say this out loud—you would never do it, but you could still tear him to shreds, verbally or physically—but at that moment, he found you the cutest thing on the planet. Like Bambam said before, you were never one to get flustered, but when you were, Yugyeom wanted nothing more but to hold you.
“Depends,” Yugyeom smirked, placing a hand under his chin as he pretended to ponder the suggestion. “Can I take you out to dinner every night after that?”
“Only if you hold my hand across the table,” you beamed.
Yugyeom took a step towards you, looking around to make sure everyone else had left the conference room before softly putting a hand behind your head and bringing you into him. He chuckled as you let out a little “oh!” when you found your head resting on his chest. Feeling you wrap your arms around his waist, he held you even tighter.
“For you, Director? Anything.”

Sooo more charts to practice with! This lil person came to me and sent me this chart to read (hiding the personal data!)
First, as always: - I’m not English so I’m sorry if something doesn’t make sense! - Also I’m still learning so don’t trust me too much - If you wanna talk more about it and tell me how you feel or where I’m wrong just lemme know!
Same asc as me! I feel your life purpose might be something related in communication since Mercury would be your planet and your MC is at Gemini! Maybe you like writing? Hmm I think this Venus opposed Saturn might be an issue. It’s like Saturn is limiting your love and affection (which if it’s so, I’ll tell you to love yourself please!! Anything can be worked at and go through it!) or maybe you feel rebellious towards authorities (having so much Saggitarius I bet you could kick anyone’s ass lol). I feel you might like or help you communicating about what makes you unhappy or your feelings. I feel you might have had family or home issues? Hmm I’ll develop this later.
Having the Moon at Scorpio must make you an intense person! I think you are one of those people who doesn’t have any filter and say what they think out loud! But be aware! You have a square with Neptune, and though this can make you have a wild imagination it can also make you look confusing in how you express your feelings or you could confuse reality with imagination and others can be like what. Also, having this from houses 2 and 5 might make you have needs that cannot be realized. So maybe you have big dreams but when you try to make them true it’s kinda impossible?  But Sagittarius without goals can become stagnant, you should dream big but something that would not make you feel down if you can’t make them true. Sag is mutable so these can be shaped when the time passes.
Seeing your North Node I feel your purpose in life has to be expressing your feelings to the world. Or how you see life or something related to communication. Maybe even being a teacher or something like this. You’re super young so I don’t think this is something you have to know yet! But maybe helping others it’s something you can like. You have Mars in Pisces in 6 (just like me) so when you see something unfair or violence against the weak you just can’t accept it and jump to say something. Also this Mars is very well aspected to your main planets at Sag, so having this kind of will of helping others will definitely be something that will make you feel better with yourself. Also this Mars can make you will take care of yourself, do sport, etc but don’t be lazy! Mars at Pisces can have this kinda energy (I know the feeling haha). Also here you can’t see it but in my astrology program you can see Chiron (a wound) is opposed your North Node, so maybe expressing yourself to the world hurts you? I recommend you to study what Chiron was, but in small words you can become a master of this wound that hurts you and develop yourself a lot. If you don’t write I will definitely, DEFINITELY tell you to do it. Just a Diary or something like that. It doesn’t have to be a writing, maybe it can be a voice recording, dunno! But having such Mercury energy can’t be ignored.
I don’t know what else to say, I guess that you’re a really introverted (maybe not introverted but someone who looks at themselves a lot) by having so many planets at 4, which is the house of your home, childhood and parents. Having Pluto there tells me something like death and born must have happened or something violent or a sudden change that changed your life perspective. And I feel you will have a lot of sudden changes of ways to see your life, your family and even maybe change a lot of houses during all your life.
So to end with, let’s see this Venus.. Hmm so I think you have a really nice, warm heart and you are very affectionate.. but this opposition to Saturn can make this be “turned off” or be too aware of your affection sometimes? I don’t really know but as I said this can be also seen as you being a rebellious person or don’t like authority a lot and this might cause you problems to your own feelings and it can make you see life sucks sometimes? So I don’t really know what to tell you here, just that love yourself!
Oh! I forgot about Jupiter that is at Cancer so maybe you can be overly dramatic sometimes? And this can also cause you some problems but I wouldn’t really care too much! I think you’re a really expressive person and has a lot of energy. Also! You don’t have earth lol. So maybe you can’t come up with material, tangible, material stuff and maybe you can’t make anything “real” or stable? IDK like maybe not finishing what you start.. or having sudden mind changes, etc. Being stable is something necessary at life sometimes, for example when you’re trying to defend an important point of view or you want to make a nice, material school work. I wouldn’t say you really NEED to learn from earth, but since you lack of it I’ll say to try learning from it? Oh, just say your asc is actually Virgo (but it’s mutable so not really stable xD). Also Virgo asc can make you be a bit critic towards others sometimes (I’m also Virgo asc!).
That’s all! I hope I helped somehow~

The Relationship Between Generosity And Political Affiliation And Gender
Who LIES More- Republicans or Democrats?
Most people tip their hair stylists, while only 27% tip their hotel housekeeper.
+1.63%
Tipping can be a social and cultural maelstrom. And social media doesnt always help.
A National Basketball Association player who has a $30 million contract drew internet ire last week after leaving a $13.97 tip on a $487.13 bill. Andre Roberson of the Oklahoma City Thunder made headlines for the paltry tip, and the strong reaction shows just how emotional the question of tipping can be.
But it wasnt quite as clear-cut as it seemed. Roberson released a statement on Twitter TWTR, +1.63%  saying he was misrepresented, saying he bought one bottle of liquor for $487 at a bar, around five times the retail price and rounded it out to $500. Roberson said he also had a $100 tab on shots for which he left a $200 tip. I thought hed be grateful for the $200 tip, he wrote of the barman who served him.
Meanwhile, some restaurants have banned tipping while Uber is finally encouraging riders to open their wallets to drivers who go the extra mile.

Some of the findings seemed to play out in real life when three supporters of President Donald Trump left a $450 tip for a Washington, D.C. waitress in January, though they were from Texas, not the relatively more generous northeast.

Statistics On Us Generosity
In this section youll find charts and graphs laying out the most important numbers in American philanthropy. They document how much we give, how that has changed over time, what areas we give to, and what mechanisms we use to donate. There are figures here on where charities get their money, how many people offer volunteer labor, the demographic factors that influence generosity , and how various states and cities differ. The top foundations and donor-advised funds are ranked by their giving. We present surprising information on overseas aid, and statistics on how the U.S. compares to other countries when it comes to donating to charity.
Beto Orourke Other Democrats See The Downside Of Releasing Tax Returns
CHARLOTTESVILLE About 24 hours after presidential hopeful Beto ORourke released his tax returns from the past decade, a University of Virginia student asked him why he didnt donate more money to charities.
ORourke, a former congressman from El Paso, and his wife reported in their 2017 tax return that they donated $1,166 which was one-third of 1 percent of their $370,412 of income that year. ORourke told reporters on Wednesday that, over the years, he and his wife have donated thousands of dollars more that they did not itemize because it wasnt important for us to take the deduction. The campaign has yet to provide updated numbers.
Ive served in public office since 2005. I do my best to contribute to the success of my community, of my state and, now, of my country, ORourke said in responding to the student on Tuesday night. Im doing everything that I can right now, spending this time with you not with our kiddos, not back home in El Paso because I want to sacrifice everything to make sure that we meet this moment of truth with everything that weve got.
ORourke is not the only Democratic candidate who has had personal finances questioned at a time when many voters are frustrated by the ever-growing economic divide in the country. One by one, Democratic candidates have released their tax returns something that President Trump has refused to do in an attempt at transparency.

Charitable Giving By State: Are Republicans More Generous Than Democrats Or Just More Religious
It turns out that the old Bushism about compassionate conservatism may not be a myth after all. In a new analysis of Internal Revenue Service tax records, the Chronicle of Philanthropy on Monday ranked U.S. cities and states by how much money their residents give to charity. The bottom line? People in red states are more generous with their green.
The study, which compared IRS data from 2012 with data from 2006, showed that the 17 most generous states — as measured by the percentage of their income they donated to charity — voted for Mitt Romney in the last presidential election. The seven states at the bottom of the list, meanwhile, voted for Barack Obama.
Exactly why is a bit of a mystery. Stacy Palmer, editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy, said the data only showed how much money people gave away, not which types of organizations they gave to. But generally speaking, she said its fair to assume that political ideology aligns to some extent with ideas about charitable giving.
Not to be too simplistic about it, but if you believe that government should take care of basic social services, then youre going to go that way, Palmer told International Business Times. If you think charities should take care of things, and not government, then youre probably going to give more generously to charity.

Volunteering In The Us
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This data comes from detailed time logs that statisticians ask householders to keep. In less strict definitions like phone surveys, more like 45 percent of the U.S. population say they volunteered some time to a charitable cause within the last year.
Current estimates of the dollar value of volunteered time range from $179 billion per year to more than twice that, depending on how you count.Volunteering is closely associated with donating cash as well. One  Harris study showed that Americans who volunteered gave 11 times as much money to charity in a year as those who did not volunteer.
An interesting pattern emerges if one studies giving by income level. As incomes rise, more and more of the people in that bracket make gifts to charity. The sizes of their gifts tend to rise as well. However: if you look at average donations as a fraction of funds available, they tend to level off at around 2-3 percent of income.
Religious faith is a central influence on giving. Religious people are much more likely than the non-religious to donate to charitable causesincluding secular causesand they give much more.
Among Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike, almost exactly half of the group averaged $100-$999 in annual charitable donations at the time of this 2005 poll. There was virtually no difference among the parties in the size of that moderate-giving group, so those results were not included in the graph to the left.

How Political Ideology Influences Charitable Giving
Many issues seem to divide Democrats and Republicans, and new research has found one more: philanthropy.
Red counties, which are overwhelmingly Republican, tend to report higher charitable contributions than Democratic-dominated blue counties, according to a new study on giving, although giving in blue counties is often bolstered by a combination of charitable donations and higher taxes.
But as red or blue counties become more politically competitive, charitable giving tends to fall.
Theres something about the like-mindedness where perhaps the comfort level rises, said one of the authors of the study, Robert K. Christensen, associate professor at the George W. Romney Institute of Public Service and Ethics at Brigham Young University. They feel safe redistributing their wealth voluntarily. It also matters for compulsory giving.
The study was conducted by four research professors who set out to explore how political differences affect charitable giving. It was published on Oct. 20 in the academic journal Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly. The other authors were Laurie E. Paarlberg of Indiana UniversityPurdue University Indianapolis, Rebecca Nesbit of the University of Georgia and Richard M. Clerkin of North Carolina State University.
Dr. Christensen said the team had analyzed more than 3,000 counties, but it did not reveal the county-by-county breakdowns. Its hard to pull those counties out because of the control variables, he said.
Charitable Giving Does Not Match Government Aid
Those in favor of lower taxes have argued that individuals are more capable than the government of allocating money to important causes, including people in need of assistance. But the study found that was not true. Donations do not match government assistance, and without tax money, social services are not funded as robustly.
The evidence shows that private philanthropy cant compensate for the loss of government provision, Dr. Nesbit said. Its not equal. What government can put into these things is so much more than what we see through private philanthropy.
On the other hand, private philanthropy can do many things better than government aid, as in being responsive to a need and willing to fail without political fallout.
The studys authors make the case for a combination approach.
Theyre complementary means of redistribution of wealth rather than substitutions for each other, Dr. Christensen said. We cant put all of our eggs in one basket.

Conservatives Are Happier Than Liberals
Second, a much larger body of research has long demonstrated that, all things being equal, conservatives tend to be happier overall than their liberal neighbors are. This is truer for social conservatives than for fiscal conservatives, and the more conservative a conservative is, the happier he or she seems to be. Thats not nothing.
A massive study published earlier this year, involving five different data samples from 16 Western countries spanning more than four decades, adds more meat to this topic. These scholars from the University of Southern California found, as they put it, In sum, conservatives reported greater meaning in life and greater life satisfaction than liberals.
Of course, both qualities are much deeper and richer than happiness itself. This was the robust and consistent finding in the 16 distinct countries examined. It was generally truer for social conservatives than their fiscal brethren, and the greater-meaning-in-life slope spiked upward among individuals who were very conservative.
These scholars explain in their academic parlance that this was true for conservatives at all reporting periods . This is a significant finding. Conservatives experience greater meaning in life across their lives generally, but also daily and at most given moments throughout the day. The researchers conclude these findings are robust and that there is some unique aspect of political conservativism that provides people with meaning and purpose in life.
Conservatives Are Satisfied With Their Family Lives
Do NFL Teams Give More to Republicans or Democrats?
New research released by the Institute for Family Studies demonstrates that conservatives tend to be much more completely satisfied with their family lives compared to their liberal friends and neighbors. Forty-one percent of both liberals and moderates report being completely satisfied with their family lives, while 52 percent of conservatives do.
Conservatives are also vastly more likely than liberals to believe marriage is essential in creating and maintaining strong families. They are also much more likely to actually be married, 62 versus 39 percent, thus benefiting from all the ways marriage improves overall well-being and contentment, personal happiness, economic security, long-term employment, longevity, better physical and mental health, and more.
These scholars explain that regardless of other basic life characteristics such as family income, marital status, age, educational attainment, race/ethnicity, and church attendance, being a conservative increases the odds of being completely satisfied with family life by 23 percent, a considerable positive impact given the centrality of these other life factors. Married men and women who believe marriage is needed to create strong families have 67 percent greater odds of being completely content with their own family life than married couples who do not believe this.

Poorer Conservatives More Generous Than Wealthy Liberals New Study
Respected non-government sector newspaper The Philanthropy Chronicle collated the itemized charity deductions on the tax returns of hundreds of millions of Americans between 2006 and 2012, the latest year available. While only about a third of all givers write off their charity expenses, the sums included about 80 percent of all donations in the country.
The Extreme Views Of The Donor Class
The main finding of the research is that the policy views of elite donors are more extreme than the views of partisan voters at large. They also vary widely by party.
If you look at Republican donors, explains Malhotra, they have much more extreme views than ordinary Republicans on economic issues, such as taxation, the redistribution of wealth, and spending on social programs. For example, a good number of Republican voters want universal health care, but very few Republican donors want that. On the other hand, Republican donors and voters have very similar views on social issues, such as abortion and gay marriage. They are not out of line in that arena.
Malhotra and Broockman found a similar pattern among Democratic donors and partisans, but in a mirror image. Democratic donors are, if anything, a little more liberal on economic issues than Democratic partisans, says Malhotra. But their social views are much more liberal than partisans, especially when you look at issues like the death penalty.

About Patt Morrison
Patt Morrison
The ongoing calls for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to issue additional years of his tax returns havent ceased.
Romney has faced criticism for his reasoning that doing so would violate his religious freedom because it would reveal exactly how much money he has tithed to his Mormon church. Democrats continue to press the issue, but should they be so vocal about taking a look at charitable contributions?
According to philanthropy.com, a website that tracks charitable giving state-by-state, Utah tops the list of giving, with residents donating 10.2 percent of their discretionary income to charities. Utah is a solidly red state and went for John McCain 62 percent to 24 percent in 2008 and it has a large Mormon contingent.
Blue state New Hampshire is bringing up the rear with residents of the The Granite State donating only 2.5 percent of their discretionary income to philanthropic organizations. But if you tweak the numbers to remove donations to religious charities the giving evens out some.

Just this weekend, in an ongoing election year discussion with my sister, I stated my experience is and has been when Democrats see others money or wealth, they want it and/or want to tell them what to do with it… I was also informed that others are not like me. Yours being the very first site I checked regarding this subject, I would like to thank you for the confirmation that this happens elsewhere, just not in my “little” world. Bellyburke
Anonymoussaid…
Thanks, I try to leave informative bits of information that are skipped over in the drive by soundbites and stereotype attacks that are out there. Sorry I have’t posted more lately. To go beyond that, I think that Republicans- particularly religious republicans give a lot more than Democrats because we beleive we have a moral duty to give to charity. Democrats seem to want to government to control the “giving” even though that actually corrupts the ‘charity’ aspects of the gift when you ‘have to do it’ or the IRS will come knocking.

Giving Under Different Governments
A change in government didnt seem to change peoples donations of money to charities, but there did seem to be an increase in time given to volunteering when the Coalition and Conservative governments were in power.
The exception to this came from the Greens. When Labour were in power from 1997-2010, Green Party supporters gave 182% more of their income to charity than Labour supporters did although this fell to 85% under the Coalition, and fell again when the Conservatives went into government on their own in 2015.
In terms of volunteering, under a Labour government, Green supporters gave no more of their time than did Labour supporters. After 2015, Greens increased their volunteering time by 56%.

In 2017, people in the UK gave over £10 billion to charity, and ONS figures suggest that unpaid labour in the form of volunteering is worth over £20 billion.
But what motivates us to give our money or time? Theres existing research which shows that we give in order to feel good, or to look good to others, but we wanted to look at another motivation: our political leanings.

12/29/10 – Stossel, Republicans donate much more than Democrats
Some liberals might argue that religious, conservative republicans are happier simply because they are mentally ill; they are disassociated with reality and just dont know any better. They claim this is even demonstrated in scientific research. In fact, one articles first line in reporting this research was quite blunt: Anyone whos wanted to dismiss Republican politics as straightforwardly mean now has some data to back them up. Lands sakes.
Some research did appear to show this, and it got a great deal of press. Retraction Watch, however, tells us it had some serious mistakes in its calculations, and an erratum was published by the American Journal of Political Science. In fact, Retraction Watch reports, The descriptive and preliminary analyses portion of the manuscript was exactly reversed. The data shows a strong correlation between liberalism and psychoticism, not conservatism. This correction was not widely reported for some curious reason.
Finally, if you had to guess who are more generous with their money and volunteering their time to help those in need, would you guess Democrats or Republicans? Of course, its Democrats. Republicans only care for themselves and their own pocketbook. In fact, dont they want to actually punish the poor for not working hard enough? Well, you would be right if stereotypes were the arbiter of truth. But what does objective research tell us?

Percentage Of Us Donations Going Tovarious Causes
Nonprofits have grown faster than government and faster than the business sector over the last generation, even during boom periods.
The figures charted here actually underestimate the fraction of American manpower that goes into charitable workbecause they show only paid employment, while volunteers carry out a large share of the labor poured into these groups. Various calculations of the cash value of donated labor suggest that at least an additional 50 percent of output by charities takes place invisibly because it is produced by volunteers. Youll find more statistics on American volunteering in Graphs 8 and 9.
Charitable activity is becoming a bigger and bigger part of Americas total economy. For perspective, consider that annual U.S. defense spending totals 4.5 percent of GDP. The nonprofit sector surpassed the vaunted military-industrial complex in economic scope way back in 1993.
Real Rise In Us Giving
After adjusting for inflation, charitable giving by Americans was close to seven times as big in 2016 as it was 62 years earlier.
Of course, one reason total giving went up is because the U.S. population almost doubled. But if we recalculate inflation-adjusted charitable giving on a per capita basis, we see that has also soared: by 3½ times. Charitable causes are very lucky to have a remarkably expansive American economy behind them, and a standard of living that refuses to stagnate.
What if we calculate charitable giving as a proportion of all national production ? The math reveals that over the last 60 years, donations as a proportion of our total annual output increasedbut only very slightly. For most of the last lifetime, giving has hovered right around 2 percent of our total national treasure.
Two percent of GDP is a huge sum, particularly in comparison to other countries . But it’s interesting that even as we have become a much wealthier people in the post-WWII era, the fraction we give away hasn’t risen. There seems to be something stubborn about that 2 percent rate.
Keep in mind too that religious charities tend to have less access to supplemental funds than other nonprofits. Hospitals and colleges charge users fees to supplement their donated income; other nonprofits sell goods; many museums charge admission; some charities receive government grants. Churches and religious charities, however, operate mostly on their donated funds depicted in this graph.

What Elite Donors Want
Big-money donors, both Democrat and Republican, not only have more political influence than the average voter, they also have more extreme beliefs.
The outsize political influence of elite donors, whose views tend to be more extreme than that of mainstream voters, partly explains why political polarization is on the rise. | Illustration by Alvaro Dominguez
In November 2012, newly elected Democratic members of the United States Congress got about a week to savor their victories. Then, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee advised them to start hitting the phones for 3-4 hours per day. Who were they supposed to be calling? Mainly, elite donors the fewer than 1% of Americans who give candidates more than $200 in any given election cycle.
It isnt news that politicians court elite donors or that elite donors have greater political access and influence than the typical voter. But, as Stanford Graduate School of Business political economist Neil Malhotra points out in an article recently published in Public Opinion Quarterly, we know remarkably little about what they actually want from government.
This is a particularly relevant issue during the current, seemingly endless, election cycle, in which the battle for control of the executive and legislative branches of the federal government is unusually contentious and fraught with implications for the future of the nation.
Do Democrats Hate Charity
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another round of COVID-19 relief from Congress is on life support but not dead, as centrist Democrats have begun to pressure Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toward compromise. That would mean finding some middle ground between the $3 trillion House HEROES Act, with its bailout for profligate blue-state governments, and the Republican $500 billion skinny bill. If serious negotiations do ensue, there is one provision on which Senate Republicans should not budge: a strong new form of tax relief for individual charitable giving. Its a provision both important in its own right and revealing of a larger philosophical difference between the parties when it comes to charity.
The latest skinny Senate bill would specifically have expanded the so-called above-the-line tax deduction included in the original CARES Act, which authorized a $300 deduction even for those who do not itemize their tax returns. The Senate bill proposed to double that amount for 2020 taxpayers, to $600 for individuals and $1,200 for those filing a joint return. The House bill included no such provision, or even an extension of a less-generous version included in the first COVID-19 relief bill.
The above-the-line deduction proposed by Republicans provides an incentive for all taxpayers, not just the wealthy, to give to charity.

Volunteering In The Us
Tumblr media

Tumblr media

MMMM!! I THINK WE SHOULD UNITE! im so happy that im not the only alien in this ♥
                                    Itachi Uchiha Natal Chart
Sun sign: basic identity, “true self”, our ego
                                          Sun sign in ♊ (Gemini)
{taken from Naruto data, but for me he is not so much Gemini as he       should be, because he is kinda slow, passive.. since Gemini is an air sign and they bearly exist, compared to Earth,Water&Earth. The only trait that could be taken is his brilliant mind and intelligence.)
Affectionate, kind and generous, the Gemini Sun Sign personality can be very thoughtful about others… as long as it doesn’t interfere too much with what they want to do. They quickly learn to use their assets to their benefit, and may become unscrupulous and cunning in extreme situations. Many born with a Gemini Sun Sign are considered intuitive and may be downright brilliant. They love mental challenges, even though their concentration is short-lived. They love to soak up knowledge, but don’t like the task of learning. They often fit the description of “jack of all trades, master of none.” They like to analyze, but since they can see both sides of an issue, they have great difficulty making decisions. Some Gemini can use their natural intelligence to control this dual nature so it becomes very efficient and useful.Expressive and quick-witted.
Rising/ Ascending sing: the first impression                                               we make on others to a personal level, how we                                          come across to strangers, a mask we wear in public.
                                Rising/ Ascending in ♉(Taurus)
{Okay, so it would be either Cancer/Taurus, but i would leave Venus for Cancer, because if it was Cancer Rising, then he would be kinda… soft.. emotional, easily to be crushed… also Itachi is slow (or atleast for me, because my aspects are BOOM BOOM POW, everything to be as fast as possible..) and as we know Water&Earth are slow, but he is slow more like an Earth type, also he is a home person, family, roots.. etc)
Taurus Rising is steady and capable. They are stable and responsible, and they are loyal to the core to those they love. They radiate presence… there is no doubting when a Taurus Rising is in the room. Resistant to change, it can be hard work to convince this sign to try something new. They have a strong stubborn streak and become set in their ways. Before they try anything they must feel it out. Security is the most important thing in the world to them, so they don’t want to do anything that would jeopardize it. Taurus Ascendant is careful and cautious. They can be inflexible and single-minded. Think more of the oak tree and less of the willow. They love the good things in life, and may tend towards the self-indulgent. Material possessions can be very important to them, and they may become collectors of some type of object. Taurus Ascendant likes nice clothing with a soft feel to them. They prefer classic to overdone. Always appearing well dressed, they can look good when mowing the lawn. Physically, many of them are built sturdy and strong. Their love of fine food may work against them health-wise. This sign is also prone to throat problems, which in turn may extend up into the ear in the form of infections or earaches. Taurus Rising is a comforting presence. They are soothing for their stability, and have an attractive inner peace. At the same time, they are rather passive and long-suffering. Taurus Rising wants to see their success.  (he is extremely loyal, didn’t betray his village)
Moon: emotional instincts and habits,                                        deepest personal needs, the sun is the head- moon is the heart
                                             Moon in ♒(Aquarius)
{should be Aquarius, or something not that emotionally-expressing. Itachi is very good at controlling his emotions and his face is always calm, unable to be read. We can’t compare Naruto’s emotions to Itachi. He is really humanian. The double air (Gemini+Aquarius) would make his mind even greaterand better at strategy. The Gemini makes him perfect at spying, the Clan&Konoha, and the Aquarius makes him not relieve it)
Aquarius Moon is very observant. They love to study human nature and analyze why everyone around them acts the way they do. They are often shy themselves, and may appear a bit detached. They can be idealistic and progressive, but they pretend that jealousy, fear and possessiveness don’t exist… that they are somehow above such petty emotions. They can be very stubborn about getting their way. As they get older, they learn to handle themselves better. They feel a strong need for independence at any age. They take great pride in their family, and will often brag of their accomplishments. Moon in Aquarius may be prone to temper tantrums when young, even though as they grow they end up feeling that emotions are “messy.” While they can be so good at understanding others’ motivations and behaviors, they often lose touch with their own. This happens because they get too caught up in what they want to achieve rather than what is reality. (Itachi always cared for other, but got lost when he was in duality of spying). Aquarius Moon Sign person is kind and compassionate, though it may tend to be shown more as a broad philosophy rather than in actual actions. While they may seem aloof, in fact they enjoy the eccentricities of those around them, and they feel confident in giving their partners a lot of freedom. Their optimism and friendliness helps them attract lots of friends. When they are unhappy, they tend to focus on their activities to such an extent that those around them have difficulty figuring out that something is wrong.Aquarius Moon is an intellectual that is both intense and intuitive. They love all aspects of freedom, both on a personal level as well as in the wider sense for humanity. They can work long hours to support a cause they believe in. Playful and childlike, they can have a great sense of humor, but they must be cautious they don’t inadvertently hurt an other’s feelings while trying to be funny. They are great dreamers, preferring to keep their head in the clouds at times.

                                     Mercury: communication, intellect, speech, mind
                                            Mercury in ♋ (Caner)
{Itachi’s voice is calm, he doesen’t talk fast like some airy sign, as his basic is.. but rather steady&slow. His Gemini&Aquarius mind make him think good enough, so his speech would be purposeful&understanding. Yet im not so sure for his Mercury what shall be, Taurus or Cancer, but Cancer applies okay, also i feel as if he bring the water melanchony within him)
Mercury in Cancer is sensitive and withdrawn. They are very thoughtful of others. They are shy and may choose not to talk at all. They may respond slowly, giving the impression of being a deep thinker, which they very well may be. They like to meditate on a problem, and reflect on their experiences. They are great listeners, and can actually make decisions faster than it appears. Cancer Mercury has a terrific memory, too… especially if it is emotional in nature. They come across as gentle, intuitive, sentimental people. They take things very personally, which can make them appear defensive. At the same time, they can also make you feel protected and warm. They can appear to be hiding something even when they are not, which can cause Cancer Mercury some trouble.Mercury in Cancer learns best when they feel balanced emotionally. They can remember a lot of information, though they prefer to focus on a subject and approach their problems step by step. They are empathic and can pick up the feelings of others. They are good at putting themselves in the other person’s place.Cancer Mercury does not like to argue. They will go out of their way to avoid it if possible. At the same time, they are good at starting an argument. They do this very subtly, and then feel hurt when others argue back. Mercury in Cancer is very considerate of others, which engenders sympathy and support when they need it. They are very good at giving motherly advice. When they are upset, they tend to sulk. This imbues the person with a slower mental processing speed than most of the other sign positions because thought processes are deep, heavy and meaningful. Every thought is accompanied by its own unique feeling and has a personal meaning. Feelings are naturally personal, and so It’s difficult for those with this position to think objectively. However, because everything their minds encounter is remembered emotionally, they have excellent memories. They aren’t storage vaults for endless trivia, but they remember everything that matters to them for what seems like forever. When they recall it, they also recall the feeling that was originally experienced with it.

Venus: love, harmony, our style,                                                                how we dress up, our soft loving side
                                              Venus in ♋(Caner)
{he cooks, he cleans.. he is stay-at-home, loving, caring. It is a bit weird, because his Gemini&Aqua combination are not as expressing and compared to the Cancer, he should find it hard combining them)
Cancer Venus wants a committed, predictable relationship. They are sensitive and crave security, comfort and love. They show their love for their partner by taking care of them. They are more attentive to their partner’s feelings than their words. They may be a bit moody, and may resort to pouting or the silent treatment to get attention. They don’t like a lot of rationalization and they don’t like impersonal treatment. Emotional confrontations don’t scare them at all, yet they are frequently afraid they will be left. Cancer Venus has a long memory, and it is difficult for them to forget an injury. Sometimes they will retreat into themselves, and it can be difficult to get them to come back out into the open.A Venus in Cancer person loves to snuggle and they appreciate sentimental gestures. They are closely attached to their home and family. Rejection is one of their biggest fears, and they can try some very frustrating ploys to find out if you love them or not. They need to feel secure and cared for. When these needs are met, they are patient, loving and dependable. They insist on sincerity from their partner, and will amaze you with how well they can remember every word you say or every thing you do. The Venus in Cancer person is very intuitive, and they find it easy to read your character and feelings. They will care for you accordingly. This can be comforting or intimidating, depending on how their partner reacts to this ability. While they are not always aware of their own charm, they can be very attractive to the opposite sex. Cancer Venus is attracted to those who need them, and they may end up making sure their loved ones continue to need them. Cancer Venus is very sensitive and they react emotionally to any circumstance. They can be hurt easily, even though they tend to hide this vulnerability behind their dignity. They are good listeners. They tend to be cautious in love because they are trying to protect themselves. As a friend, Cancer Venus is adept at creating a second family out of their friends. They enjoy creating new traditions, and are usually very thoughtful about birthdays and holiday celebrations. They are loyal and like to keep in touch, no matter what the distance. They are good at nurturing their friends, although if they get hurt emotionally, they can find it difficult to trust again. They are very impressionable, and may end up picking up on the mood of the person they are spending time with. Cancer Venus looks like someone with a big heart. This is very attractive to others. They also appear wise and are surrounded by a warmth that wraps around those surrounding them. Once they trust someone, they are very affectionate.
Mars: how a person goes after goals,                                                       courage, sex drive, agression, will, energy
                                         Mars in ♉ (Taurus)
Taurus Mars is very reliable and dependable. They are practical and have great endurance. They can be obstinate, which can be frustrating to everyone around them. This can be taken to a very immature level at times. They like to build things, cultivate an art or enjoy pleasures of the senses. They can get jealous, as they see their partner as belonging only to them. Possession is important to them. Taurus Mars is passionate and grounded. They project an air of confidence. Their honesty gives them great integrity. They excel in anything that requires dedication and discipline.People born under a Mars in Taurus are often rather sensual people. Some are slow to arousal, but theirs is an earthy and powerful sensuality. Taurus anger is slow, but sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAY SO I THINK THIS IS ALL. And it was super hard to choose between Cancer or Taurus for Mercury, because if it’s Cancer, then he becomes too sensitive, but i think it’s fine, since he has air&earth, which are best at hiding feelings. We can just wonder how much he is in duality of himself. Tearing apart between heart&brain.

Three fundamental factors in the production of link-building content
One of the most overused phrases in content marketing is how it is an ever-changing landscape, forcing agencies and marketers to adapt and improve their existing processes.
In a short space of time, a topic can go from being newsworthy to negligible, all while certain types of content become tedious to the press and its readers.
A vast amount of the work we do — at Kaizenand many other similar agencies — is create content with the sole purpose of building high authority links, making it all the more imperative that we are conscious of the changes and trends outlined above.
If we were to split the creative process into three sections — content, design, and outreach strategy — how are we able to engineer our own successes and failures to provide us with a framework for future campaigns?
Three important factors for producing link-worthy content
Over the past month, I’ve analyzed over 120 pieces of content across 16 industries to locate and define the common threads between campaigns that exceed or fall short of their expectations. From the amount of data used and visualized to the importance of effective headline storytelling, the insight is a way of both rationalizing and reshaping our approach to content production.
1. Not too much data — our study showed an average of just over five metrics
Behind every great piece of content is (usually) a unique or noteworthy set of data. Both static and interactive content enables us to display limitless amounts of research which provide the origins of the stories we try to communicate. However many figures or metrics you choose to visualize, there is always a point where a journalist or reader switches off.
This glass ceiling is difficult to pinpoint and depends on the type of content, and the industry or readership you’re looking to appeal to, but a more granular study of good and poor performing campaigns that I performed suggested some benefits of refining data sets.
Observations
A starting point for any piece of research is the individual metrics, whether it is cost, type, or essentially anything worth measuring and comparing. In my research, in the content campaigns that exceed our typical KPI, there was an average of just over 5 metrics used on each piece compared to almost double in campaigns with either a normal or below satisfactory performance. The graph below shows the correlation between a lower number of metrics and a higher link performance.
An example of these findings in practice can be found in an infographic study completed for online travel retailer Lastminute.com that sought to find the world’s most chilled out countries. Following a comprehensive study of 36 countries across 10 metrics, the task was to refine these figures in a way that can be translated well through its design. The number of countries was whittled down to just the top 15, and the metrics were condensed to have four indexes which the rankings were based on. The decision to not showcase the data in its entirety proved fruitful, securing over 50 links, covered by the Mail Online and Lonely Planet.
As an individual who very much enjoys partaking in the research process, it can be extremely difficult to sacrifice any element of your work, but it is that level of tact in the production of content that distinguishes one piece from another.
2. Simple, powerful data visualizations — our analysis showed highest achievers had just one visualization
Regardless of how saturated the content marketing industry becomes, we are graced every year with new and innovative ways ofvisualizing data. The balancing act between originality in your design and an unnecessarily complex data-visualization is often the point on which success and failure can pivot. As is the case with data, overloading a piece of content with an amass of multi-faceted graphs and charts is a surefire way of alienating your users, leaving them either bored or confused.
Observations
For my study, I decided to look at the content that contained data visualizations that failed to hit the mark and see whether the quality is as much of a problem as quantity in terms of design. As I carried out the analysis, I denoted the two examples where one visual would incorporate most or all of the study, or the same illustration was replicated several times for a country, region or sector. For instance, this study, from medical travel insurance provider Get Going, on reliable airlines condenses all the key information into one single data-visualization. Conversely, this piece from The Guardian on the gender pay gap shows how it can be effective to use one visual several times to present your data.
Unsurprisingly, many of the low scorers in my research averaged around eight different forms of data visualizations while high achievers contained just one. The graph below showcases how many data-visualizations are used on average by high and low performing pieces, both static and interactive. Low performing static examples contained an average of just over six, with less than one for their higher-scoring counterparts. For interactive content, the optimum is just over one with poor performing content containing almost nine per piece.
In examples where the same type of graph or chart was used repeatedly, poor performers had approximately 33 per piece, with their more favorable counterparts using just three.
It is important to note that ranking-based pieces often require the repetition of a visual in order to tell a story, but once again this is part of the balancing act for creatives in terms of what type and how many data-visualizations one utilizes.
A fine example of an effective illustration of the data study contained in one visual comes from a 2017 piece by Federica Fragapane for Italian publication La Lettura, showcasing the most violent cities in the world. The chart depicts each city as a shape sized by its homicide rate, with other small indicators defined in the legend to the right of the graphic. The aesthetic qualities of the graph give a campaign, fairly morbid in the topic, an extended appeal beyond the subject of just global crime. While the term “design-led”is so-often thrown around, this example proves how effective it can be to integrate visuals effectively through your data. The piece, produced originally for print, proved hugely successful in the design space, with 18 referring domains from sites such as Visme.co.
3. Pandering to the press — over a third of our published links used the same headline as our pitch email subject line
Kaizen produces hundreds of campaigns on a yearly basis across a range of industries, meaning the task of looking inward is as necessary today as it ever has been. Competition means that press contacts are looking for something extra special to warrant your content’s publication. While ingenuity is required in every area of content marketing, it’s equally important to recognize the importance of getting the basics right.
The task of outreach can be won and lost in several ways, but your subject line is, and will always be, the most significant component of your pitch. Whether you encapsulate your content in a single sentence or highlight your most attention-worthy finding, an email headline is a laborious but crucial task. My task through my research was to find how vital it is in terms of the end result of achieving coverage.
Observations
As part of my analysis, I recorded the backlinks of a sample of our high and average content and recorded the headlines used in the coverage for each campaign. I found in better-performing examples, over a third of links used the same headlines used in our pitch emails, emphasizing the importance of effective storytelling in every area of your PR process. Below is an illustration in the SERPs of how far an effective headline can take you, with example coverage from one of our most successful pieces for TotallyMoney on work/life balance in Europe.
Another area I was keen to investigate, given the time and effort that goes into it, is how press releases are used across the coverage we get. Using scraping software, I was able to pull out the copy from each article where a follow link was achieved and compare it to the press releases we have produced. It was pleasing to see that one in five links contained at least a paragraph of copy used in our press materials. In contrast, just seven percent of the coverage within the lower performing campaigns contained a reference to our press releases, and an even lower four percent using headlines from our email subject lines.
Final thoughts
These correlations, similar to the ones discussed previously, suggest not only how vital the execution of basic processes are, but serve as a reminder that a campaign can do well or fall down at so many different points of production. For marketers, analysis of this nature indicates that a refinement of creative operations is a more secure route for your content and its coverage. Don’t think of it as “less is more” but a case of picking the right tools for the job at hand.

How to Monitor Your Product Launch: Lessons from #AppleEvent2018
Running a product launch can be one of the most stressful times in a marketer’s life(that along with attempting to explain their job to their grandparents).
You could spend weeks, even months preparing for a launch. You could try and anticipate for everything that could go wrong, but it’s all over in one day – so there’s only one shot to get it right.
One brand that consistently gets product launches right is of course, Apple.
Unless you’ve been stranded on a deserted island for the last few weeks, there’s no way you haven’t heard about their much-anticipated yearly product launch keynote: #AppleEvent.
Ever since the very first iPhone was announced at the first edition in 2007, the #AppleEvent has grown bigger and bigger every year to become the global rendezvous that tech aficionados cannot afford to miss.
As you may have expected, there were hundreds of thousands of conversations about the event across social media and I listened to all of it – using Mention of course.
Tumblr media
Why you should monitor your product launch
As I mentioned earlier, it’s extremely important that brands get their product launches right. Why?
They send a powerful message to their market and target audience: how good is the brand at innovating? Are they bringing something new?
They take a lot of time and resources to prepare, therefore, can be very, very costly.
Conversations about them will tell you a lot about your audience and users.
But in order to ensure your launch goes smoothly, you need to know what people are saying about it.
This is where media monitoring comes in.
No matter how much you thought you hit it out of the park, only numbers and data will speak for the true success of your event.
Quick tip for those already using an online monitoring tool:
In this particular situation, we won’t just be monitoring the term “Apple”.
When tracking such a generic keyword, you need to be very specific or you’ll end up monitoring conversations that aren’t relevant to you.
To conduct this analysis, I used the following keywords:
#AppleEvent
iPhone (XS, XS Max, and XR)
Apple Watch
And narrowed my analysis to a specific time period (September 10th to September 15th) to eliminate as much noise and bias as possible.
Having said that, the hashtag and product names to monitor made it really easy for me. If I wanted to monitor the “Apple” brand, and nothing else, an advanced boolean search would have been necessary.
Before I set out to do my analysis, I compiled a few questions that I wanted to answer about this event:
How did the Internet respond to the latest announcements?
Where did most of the buzz come from?
What were the main topics discussed online following the event?
How were they discussed, and by who?
And finally, what can we: marketers and PR pros – learn from it?
In this article, you’ll learn about the biggest trends we observed at this year’s #AppleEvent and what you should monitor in order to measure your own future product launches.
What was all the fuss about?
Before getting into the nitty gritty, let’s do a quick review of the event: what’s new?
Well, not that much since most of the information leaked before the event.
Apple announced 4 new products.
A new Apple Watch
First, the Apple Watch Series 4.
Better, faster and stronger than the previous version, the next generation of the Apple Watch also comes with notable FDA approved brand new health features:
A fall detector: if you fall while wearing the watch and stop moving for a specific amount of time, the connected device will automatically suggest calling for help on your behalf.
A heartbeat monitor: the watch now has an ECG (Electro-Cardiogram) function, is able to detect any abnormality and will advise you to see a doctor if needed.
The heart rate technology may not be groundbreaking as it’s already available on other devices, but the ECG technology is pretty impressive.
Our sentiment analysis reveals that the almighty Internet thinks so too:
Please note that the pie chart only shows positive vs. negative mentions.
What’s next?
The rest of the presentation focused on the 3 new, much anticipated versions of the iPhone.
3 new versions of the iPhone
Apple announced the iPhones XS, XS Max(2018 iterations of the existing X model) and a “cheaper” iPhone XR.
Having better cameras, batteries, screens, processors, according to Apple  is top-notch technology.
But, if last year was a major leap in terms of features, Apple did not revolutionize the industry much this time. No, instead, they brought us: Dual Sim – A feature that has been introduced by their competition a long time ago(and the Internet didn’t forget to remind us about it).
So there you have it, 4 new products Apples released to continue to make a dent in your bank account. Now that we know what they are, let’ see how they were received online.
How did the #AppleEvent echo online?
The ‘Where’
As expected, the entire world was talking about about the #AppleEvent. Most of the conversations came from 1) the US 2) France 3) Brazil, 4) India and 5) the UK.
When tracking a product launch, it’s important to keep an eye on where the event is being mentioned. If you’re suddenly seeing a lot of mentions in regions you’re not active in, it would be a good idea to do research opportunities for your brand in that market.
The ‘Who’
It’s just as telling to see who is talking about your product launch. If you’ve done your PR properly, you should be able to get the right people and publications to mention it.
There was no shortage of influential accounts and brands mentioning the #AppleEvent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of the top publications including 9Gag, NYTimes, GreenPeace, China Daily mentioned the event. So in terms of volume and reach, this is awesome coverage.
However, being mentioned by influencers isn’t always a good thing. While the NYT reported all that happened during the event, GreenPeace had a slightly different approach..
Tumblr media
The ‘What’
When monitoring your launch, be sure to track all of the important keywords around it. This includes the different models of products, features, and improvements.
The iPhone has clearly been Apple’s favorite child for years. However, they seem to have started dedicating more time and resources year after year to the Apple watch. Let’s see how people reacted to it online.
The “iPhone” generated twice as much noise as the Apple Watch during the #AppleEvent
Now, if we take a closer look at the iPhone models mentioned, it seems the iPhone XS Max generated the most noise during the week of the announcement, followed by the XS and XR models.
Which iPhone features were discussed the most?
Typically, people rave about the new features they’re most excited about. In this case, it was the two improved features including the camera and storage space gathered loads of attention.
The actual new feature(Dual Sim) was only mentioned 1 416 times.
Tumblr media
Volume is an interesting and powerful insight to measure the success of an event.
But it only scrapes the surface. It doesn’t convey any information regarding how the event went and how the announcements were received by the audience.
The ‘How’
Measuring the sentiment of a product launch and event can offer you the public feedback you’re looking for. It allows you to understand what the audience liked and disliked about your products.
What was the overall #AppleEvent sentiment? The event itself was received mostly positively.
Tumblr media
Neutral mentions put aside, about 90% of the noise around the event was positive.
Now, if we focus on the iPhone’s overall sentiment … things get more complicated.
Tumblr media
Nearly 25% of mentions we tracked were negative.
How come? What are the negative conversations about?
Tumblr media
The price.
The price is a big “no no”
The top(worldwide) negative keywords are mostly related to the price of the new Apple devices.
In fact, there were 24 734 messages discussing the new iPhones’ prices. As per usual, the Internet handled the situation with a hint of sarcasm:
Tumblr media
I investigated a little further … and it led me to France.
“Prix”, meaning price in French was the most common negative keyword associated to the new iPhones(not so surprising since France was the second country with the most mentions about the event).
And there’s a good reason for that:
The XR model, starting at $749 in the US, starts at €859 in Europe.
The XS model, starting at $999 in the US, starts at €1159 in Europe.
The XS Max model, starting at $1099 in the US, starts at €1259 in Europe.
Tumblr media
Price issues put aside, the #AppleEvent was once again a PR success:
Almost 9 out of 10 mentions turned out to be positive.
There were hundreds of thousands of conversations.
Billions of people reached all over the planet.
Interestingly enough, the battery was not discussed so much this time (even though it’s a known fact that iPhones, or smartphones in general lack in battery life) compared to features like the camera or the price of the devices, seen as the most negative fact about the phones this year.
Tumblr media
Is Apple playing with fire selling devices at such a high price?
Did Apple go too far this time with the price? Only time will tell.
Even though the event itself received positive mentions, Apple should not ignore the worrying 25% of negative mentions published during and after the event.
Now that we’ve analyzed the conversations around this events, let’s take a step back to see what we’ve learned from it?
4 lessons we learned
Apple did not only count on its worldwide reputation to generate buzz around the yearly #AppleEvent. They have an event planning strategy that is almost bulletproof. That being said, there’s always room for improvement.
Here are 4 things to learn from it.
1. Get in touch with influencers
There were not only tech-journalists invited to attend the conference at the Steve Jobs Theater.
The room was also filled with influencers and world-known celebrities who actively participated to generate more buzz around the event by reaching out to their own community.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apple probably didn’t reach out to all of the influential people discussing the #AppleEvent, because, well, they’re Apple. Thousands of influential voices talked about it without Apple having to do anything.
Did they know for example, that there were influencers creating and sharing content about the events in South Africa?
Tumblr media
Apple teams could dig through this data and try building new relationships with these influential brand advocates to reach new audiences next year. By securing a positive relationship with them, they’re more likely to say positive things about your next launch.
2. Promote a #Hashtag
Promoting a #hashtag is probably the safest way to own and measure the impact of an event.
If you are already using an advanced monitoring tool, you know you could follow conversations related to your event without using any #hashtag. But #hashtags gather people around one specific topic. Your event.
Be sure to leverage this opportunity.
3. Set expectations
We, humans, are creatures of habit. Apple knows that. They set an expectation to host an #AppleEvent at almost the exact same time, every single year.
If you haven’t noticed, I’m talking about the second week of September. The launch has been on that exact same week since 2012.
By doing so, journalists and potential buyers know when exactly they can expect it every year.
4. Tease a little(but don’t ruin the surprise)
This is actually something Apple is not so great at.
It is rather impossible to know whether Apple orchestrated the leaks or not, but a lot of information has leaked from them before the event. And it ruins the surprise for a lot of us.
Before social media, brands could control the conversations about them as they were very often the ones starting them.
Since social media became mainstream, the only time brands get to affect the conversations about them is when they announce something big. The lesson here is to ensure that you set embargos with journalists and publications. If you’re working with influencers, be sure that they don’t ruin the surprise by sharing with their communities!
Listen before you jump into the convo
There is very little(if nothing) we can teach Apple about communication. I mean, they did open their 2018 September event parodying Mission Impossible. Wow.
As for listening, there are a couple things Apple could learn from this year’s event. While the #AppleEvent hashtag did generate major positive coverage, they should also always be keeping their eye on the topics that are sparking negative conversations to help improve their next launch.
What about you? What were the takeaways for you from this event?

Is there any way to get my health insurance to cover the cost of a body lift?
6'1 , 25 y/o male, spent the majority of the past 4 years dropping from 430lbs to a current 198lbs. The weight loss has left me with large amounts of sagging skin on my inner thighs, pelvis, abdomen, chest and upper arms. All of these areas are covered in large amounts of stretch marks as well, which leads me to believe these areas will never recover without surgery. Now my chest and arms are not nearly as big of an issue as working out at the gym has started to fill these areas in with muscle, but no amount of situps are tightening the skin around my abdomen, and no amount of leg exercises are firming up my inner thighs. Cardio actually seeems to make the issue worse as I lose even more weight. I've also begun to notice that the more the skin sags around my torso, the more my lower back hurts. Also, chafing on my inner thighs and buttocks makes cardio pardon the pun, but a pain in the ***. I know insurance companies don't like to cover cosmetic surgeries but there has to be something that can be done.Any ideas?""

Insurance for a new driver?
Seventeen in a couple of months, and naturally want a car. I know I am going to have to get something small and low-powered, because I am a male and live in a part of England usually on fire. I also know what the insurance criteria are (Age, Where you live, where the car is parked, what you use it for, how often you use it etc..) I don't particularly want to be done for fraud, so no fronting please. Just wondering if there is any way to lower the cost of insurance? Don't mind driving a van, car etc. etc. (Not a motorbike..) Probably pis.sing in the wind trying to get a loophole, but I don't want to fork out 3k to insure a Citroen AX/2CV6. Any help/advice greatly appreciated.. :)""

Problem with car insurance?
This isn't my car. So sorry if I'm fussy on details. Basically in the snow a car lost control of their car and crashed into my friends car. Which was parked up. They were decent and called their insurance company. Unforcantly there's a problem with the door that needs to be replaced. They said they will give her 600 and she has to cover the rest. Surely it all should be paid by their insurance not just some of it? Her father wants to demand money off the bloke which I don't thinks right. But I wanted to know where they stand on getting money off the insurance. And what advise I can give them. Why pay insurance if they don't give out. Doesn't make sence. Anyone been in a similar situation? What was the result? Cheers.

Why do hundreds of thousands die every year WITH health insurance?
Should we ban it? Isn't this the same argument as Dems use when they say 45,000 die with no health insurance? It's not because. In fact, there was a study done. Here are the results: The possibility that no one risks death by going without health insurance may be startling, but some research supports it. Richard Kronick of the University of California at San Diegos Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, an adviser to the Clinton administration, recently published the results of what may be the largest and most comprehensive analysis yet done of the effect of insurance on mortality. He used a sample of more than 600,000, and controlled not only for the standard factors, but for how long the subjects went without insurance, whether their disease was particularly amenable to early intervention, and even whether they lived in a mobile home. In test after test, he found no significantly elevated risk of death among the uninsured. See that? No elevated risk of death among the uninsured? Do some of you get that you're being played yet? I'd love to see reform, but should we concentrate on the common sense Republican solutions to bring down costs?""

My grandfather bought me whole life insurance (paid up in full) when I was an infant and then made my father the owner. I am the insured. My father and I are no longer on speaking terms and I want ownership of my life insurance. Because I am 23, shouldn't the policy have become mine when I became an adult? Named driver had crash. Should I tell my car insurance?
Last year my girlfriend has a car crash, she was not at fault. So she didn't tell her insurance company and claimed of the other party. So she is assuming her car insurance does not know. Now I am looking to get insured on my first car. If I add her to my insurance as a named driver the premium is about 200 less. The problem is she doesn't want me to tell the insurance company that she crashed, as they asked has the named driver crash. I am now worried I were to crash, they would see she had crashed and void the insurance. I am tempted just to get my insurance in my name and pay the extra 200 for peace of mind. She will not under any circumstance tell her insurer she crashed as she thinks her premiums will rise. But I have found out that the insurance companies have a database of all claims, so they can easily find out that she has crashed. She refused to allow me to put on my application for insurance that she has crashed. What to do?""

Maternity related services considered inpatient for insurance?
Most individual plans (87%) do not offer maternity coverage. I was fortunate enough to still be covered under an old employer by paying COBRA, and a majority of my expenses were covered. I had twins and had to have a C-Section. So now that I know I'm most likely to have a C-Section again, and who knows, another set of twins! (complete surprise) and am still of child bearing age. I am now under an individual plan, that does not offer maternity coverage. I was reading under the 'Inpatient' services and it listed this: Unlimited coverage is provided for medically necessary physician and surgeon services, semi-private rooms, operating rooms and related facilities, intensive and coronary care units, laboratory, x-rays, radiology services and procedures, medications and biologicals, anesthesia, special duty nursing as prescribed, short-term rehabilitation services, nursing care, meals and special diets So anyone who has experience or knowledge, would something like a C-Section be covered under inpatient? What does maternity coverage only cover normally. That $60*** bill scares me! Also, I keep reading about a new health care bill effective 2014 where individual plans must include maternity as an essential benefit. Anyone have any more details about that? State specific etc?""

Where can I find average sale prices for cars?
I'm looking to find a website that will give me the average sale price for cars. NOT looking for blue book value. The reason why is my car (2000 infiniti g20) just got totaled and my insurance company will only give me the price I would get if I were to sell it on the market . An autobody owner, an auto insurance rep, and a car dealer all say that I should be getting more than the $3,800 my insurance company is offering (including sales tax!), but say that I should get some data online to have a convincing case that I could get more. The blue book value is around $4900-5200. I'm looking for a website with either charts or simply figures that give average sale prices for certain vehicles. Thanks!!!""

How do I know if my insurance company is treating me fairly?
I was recently in an accident. The offer that my insurance company is making is much lower than NADA and Kelley Blue Book values--the insurance company is offering 9,200 and the NADA value is 11,600 (KBB is 12,500). They said that their estimate was based on the local market value and was an average of private party and dealer values. They looked within a 100-mile radius and found similar cars. They then adjusted the value to reflect the mileage of my car, but I don't know how exactly they calculated this adjusted value. I bought my car from a dealership seven months ago--shouldn't the replacement value be the retail value? Also, I had a Subaru WRX and they compared it to WRXs and to Impreza Outback Sports. I looked on autotrader.com and on other Internet resources and found WRXs that were listed much higher than the WRXs in their market report, and I don't know what to do--I don't want to spend the money for a lawyer, but I feel as if I am fighting a losing battle.""
Anyone know a good Home Insurance company in California?
We recently purchased a new home to use as a renter. Our real estate agent told us to purchase and insurance policy from Old Republic to cover anything that could be wrong with the house since it was built in the 80's. An inspector looked at the house prior to our purchase and didn't notice anything with the property. Once the house was occupied by our renter, he noticed that the lights would shut off and stay off for a few hours. Old republic sent an electrician over and he told us that the prior owner had replaced a new breaker on top of a broken buster. He reported back to old republic and they stated that the insurance didn't cover anything that was not installed correctly. We were precise to inform our agent of the policy we needed for the house. We were not sure what work the house had done prior to our purchase so that is why we purchased the insurance. The policy we had was Old Republic Home Warranty Plan. That is what our agent advised us to get. Now, what can we legally do to help cover our out of the pocket expense of over a grand. Is there a policy that anyone would recommend for a rental house. Let me add that we do have home owners insurance but it only covers fires, floods, etc. (Please no unnecessary comments, this is an important question and need real honest advise.) Thank you in advance to all who respond and hopefully this could help others who read it as well.""

Is this insurance company giving me the runaround?
I filed a claim with USAA on September 5th on a hit and run accident in which the police were able to find the person and get his insurance. He called them and said he didn't do it - and I hit him. I called, gave my side of the story and the number of the police who were handling the accident. They always say they will call me back and they don't - so I call them in which they give me another date they will get back to me. They never ONCE have gotten back to me. The policy holder who hit me is now in jail on an unrelated offense and they say they cannot get his statements - duh. They say they will contact the police and get back to me - but they never have. The damage to the car isn't that much - it is $416 (just a headlight) but I cannot afford to pay for it. Putting it through my insurance is dumb because the deductable is $500 - at least I think that is how it works. Could you give me advice on how to deal with USAA? I can't talk to them on the weekends because they say they can't handle my existing claim. I'm getting REALLY frustrated.""

Registering and insuring a car for a teenager?
This may vary from state to state so for the record the state is Connecticut. When you get a car for your teenager, would you register and insure it in their name or yours? When you call to add the car to insurance, do you add the teenager or just add the car to your own policy? My husband and I are confused about how this works. Our twins who are turning 16 this year were given a car by a friend of ours. We want to make sure it's all done legal and legit so that if they were in an accident it would be covered. I thought you had to add the teenager to your insurance as in the person is covered not just the car. My husband thinks we can just ad the car to our policy and let them drive it and they will be covered. I don't think so, Otherwise why wouldn't everyone do that to save the money they charge when you add a teenager? They will be taking driver's ed which is supposed to help with insurance cost so that leads me to think even more that you need to add the teenager as someone to be insured and not just insure the car. can anyone help me out here as to what the proper thing to do is to make sure we will covered properly. And who's name should the car be registered in? Can you have a car registered in your name as a minor or not? thanks""

How much should I ask for the compensation from insurance?
I had a car accident and the fault side's insurance compay paid for body repair ( abuot $960 in their recommanded bodyshop ) and also the rental (my car is still in bodyshop). My car is 1997 Toyata Collora and the private value from KBB is $3185 (for good condition), some people said the compensation for diminished value could be 40% of the KBB private value, which to me is 3185 x 0.4 = $1274. Can California Civil Code 827 be used to enforce mandatory renters insurance?
Recently my landlord sent tenants a letter stating we have to buy renter's insurance, stating that California Civil Code 827 allows them to do this. Looking it up, I see 827 is about rent increased, not renter's insurance (and nothing about anything being mandatory). When I signed the lease with them, I was not required to pay for renter's insurance, but they claim that terms have changed and now I am obligated to pay this, and if I don't, may destroy my credit. What should i expect in a auto accident and insurance settlement?
I was hit from behind on Wednesday evening heading to work. The driver was ticketed by the police and their insurance company has admitted full liability. Injury wise, I have whiplash which thankfully, is going away now. My car, according to their adjuster, is going to be claimed as totaled. So, my car is valued at 7400, and repairs just from visual inspection, are 7015. So they are going the totaled route as its cheaper for them. After they buy the car from me, they will sell it to salvage, expect to get 2k from it, and only be out 5400 instead of a full cost of repairs. So I've had the car for a year and half, taken out on a 5yr car loan. I still owe 12k on it. After they cut a check to the lean holder, I'm still responsible for 5k on that loan. The bank and my insurance at the time didn't offer gap insurance. Stupid of me, I let my current policy expire to search around for a more affordable policy. I kept procrastinating, and the accident happened with me having no insurance. Lucky he hit me and is at fault. I'm trying to see what my options are. I've gone to the liable company's website and see their basic plan for my state, law requires 25k in property liability for at fault accidents, plus medical etc. So I'm wondering what should I expect from the lady handling this claim. I'm not fooled when she called me yesterday and said that she is here to work with and for me. Saying that there is probably a lot of talk about lawyers, just know they will take 30-40% of you settlement. Know that I'm here to work for you, try to work with me I'm thinking my head total bull crap. 1, she works for her insurance company first, and will have their interest first, 2, she works for their client and to protect them from me in a suit. In the end, I'm not stuck with a car that they will not fully pay to have repaired, and will still owe 5k after they pay the loan holder the value of the car. My credit is damaged and getting a new loan is probably not going to happen easily. Sustainable Link Building: Increasing Your Chances of Getting Links - Whiteboard Friday
Posted by Paddy_Moogan
Link building campaigns shouldn't have a start-and-stop date — they should be ongoing, continuing to earn you links over time. In this edition of Whiteboard Friday, please warmly welcome our guest host Paddy Moogan as he shares strategies to achieve sustainable link building, the kind that makes your content efforts lucrative far beyond your initial campaigns for them.

Video Transcription
Hi, Moz fans. Welcome to Whiteboard Friday. I'm not Rand. I'm Paddy Moogan. I'm the cofounder of Aira. We're an agency in the UK, focusing on SEO, link building, and content marketing. You may have seen me write on the Moz Blog before, usually about link building. You may have read my link building book. If you have, thank you. Today, I'm going to talk about link building again. It's a topic I love, and I want to share some ideas around what I'm calling "sustainable link building."
Problems
Now, there are a few problems with link building that make it quite risky, and I want to talk about some problems first before giving you some potential solutions that help make your link building less risky. So a few problems first:
I. Content-driven link building is risky.
The problem with content-driven link building is that you're producing some content and you don't really know if it's going to work or not. It's quite risky, and you don't actually know for sure that you're going to get links.
II. A great content idea may not be a great content idea that gets links.
There's a massive difference between a great idea for content and a great idea that will get links. Knowing that difference is really, really important. So we're going to talk a little bit about how we can work that out.
III. It's a big investment of time and budget.
Producing content, particularly visual content, doing design and development takes time. It can take freelancers. It can take designers and developers. So it's a big investment of time and budget. If you're going to put time and budget into a marketing campaign, you want to know it's probably going to work and not be too risky.
IV. Think of link building as campaign-led: it starts & stops.
So you do a link building campaign, and then you stop and start a new one. I want to get away from that idea. I want to talk about the idea of treating link building as the ongoing activity and not treating it as a campaign that has a start date and a finish date and you forget about it and move on to the next one. So I'm going to talk a little bit about that as well.
Solutions
So those are some of the problems that we've got with content-driven link-building. I want to talk about some solutions of how to offset the risk of content-driven link building and how to increase the chances that you're actually going to get links and your campaign isn't going to fail and not work out for you.
I. Don't tie content to specific dates or events
So the first one, now, when you coming up with content ideas, it's really easy to tie content ideas into events or days of the year. If there are things going on in your client's industry that are quite important, current festivals and things like that, it's a great way of hooking a piece of content into an event. Now, the problem with that is if you produce a piece of content around a certain date and then that date passes and the content hasn't worked, then you're kind of stuck with a piece of content that is no longer relevant.
So an example here of what we've done at Aira, there's a client where they launch a piece of content around the Internet of Things Day. It turns out there's a day celebrating the Internet of Things, which is actually April 9th this year. Now, we produced a piece of content for them around the Internet of Things and its growth in the world and the impact it's having on the world. But importantly, we didn't tie it exactly to that date. So the piece itself didn't mention the date, but we launched it around that time and that outreach talked about Internet of Things Day. So the outreach focused on the date and the event, but the content piece itself didn't. What that meant was, after July 9th, we could still promote that piece of content because it was still relevant. It wasn't tied in with that exact date.
So it means that we're not gambling on a specific event or a specific date. If we get to July 9th and we've got no links, it obviously matters, but we can keep going. We can keep pushing that piece of content. So, by all means, produce content tied into dates and events, but try not to include that too much in the content piece itself and tie yourself to it.
II. Look for datasets which give you multiple angles for outreach
Number two, lots of content ideas can lead from data. So you can get a dataset and produce content ideas off the back of the data, but produce angles and stories using data. Now, that can be quite risky because you don't always know if data is going to give you a story or an angle until you've gone into it. So something we try and do at Aira when trying to produce content around data is from actually different angles you can use from that data.
So, for example:
Locations. Can you pitch a piece of content into different locations throughout the US or the UK so you can go after the local newspapers, local magazines for different areas of the country using different data points?
Demographics. Can you target different demographics? Can you target females, males, young people, old people? Can you slice the data in different ways to approach different demographics, which will give you multiple ways of actually outreaching that content?
Years. Is it updated every year? So it's 2018 at the moment. Is there a piece of data that will be updated in 2019? If there is and it's like a recurring annual thing where the data is updated, you can redo the content next year. So you can launch a piece of content now. When the data gets updated next year, plug the new data into it and relaunch it. So you're not having to rebuild a piece of a content every single time. You can use old content and then update the data afterwards.
III. Build up a bank of link-worthy content
Number three, now this is something which is working really, really well for us at the moment, something I wanted to share with you. This comes back to the idea of not treating link building as a start and stop campaign. You need to build up a bank of link-worthy content on your client websites or on your own websites. Try and build up content that's link worthy and not just have content as a one-off piece of work. What you can do with that is outreach over and over and over again.
We tend to think of the content process as something like this. You come up with your ideas. You do the design, then you do the outreach, and then you stop. In reality, what you should be doing is actually going back to the start and redoing this over and over again for the same piece of content.
What you end up with is multiple pieces of content on your client's website that are all getting links consistently. You're not just focusing on one, then moving past it, and then working on the next one. You can have this nice big bank of content there getting links for you all the time, rather than forgetting about it and moving on to the next one.
IV. Learn what content formats work for you
Number four, again, this is something that's worked really well for us recently. Because we're an agency, we work with lots of different clients, different industries and produce lots and lots of content, what we've done recently is try to work out what content formats are working the best for us. Which formats get the best results for our clients? The way we did this was a very, very simple chart showing how easy something was versus how hard it was, and then wherever it was a fail in terms of the links and the coverage, or wherever it was a really big win in terms of links and coverage and traffic for the client.
Now, what you may find when you do this is certain content formats fit within this grid. So, for example, you may find that doing data viz is actually really, really hard, but it gets you lots and lots of links, whereas you might find that producing maps and visuals around that kind of data is actually really hard but isn't very successful.
Identifying these content formats and knowing what works and doesn't work can then feed into your future content campaign. So when you're working for a client, you can confidently say, "Well, actually, we know that interactives aren't too difficult for us to build because we've got a good dev team, and they really likely to get links because we've done loads of them before and actually seen lots of successes from them." Whereas if you come up with an idea for a map that you know is actually really, really hard to do and actually might lead to a big fail, then that's not going to be so good, but you can say to a client, "Look, from our experience, we can see maps don't work very well. So let's try and do something else."
That's it in terms of tips and solutions for trying to make your link building more sustainable. I'd love to hear your comments and your feedback below. So if you've got any questions, anything you're not sure about, let me know. If you see it's working for your clients or not working, I'd love to hear that as well. Thank you.
