Sure is interesting how Ulysses can be reviled for something as mild as “talks too much” when the Think Tank insta-locking you into a 45 minute dialogue tree is praised as great writing 🤔

currently having thoughts about icarus/wax wings ivantill its the sacrifice its bringing him closer to the sun even as ivan melts, its till crashing to the ground in ivans efforts to bring him higher
its desperately grasping for what burns you and the freedom of flight
also ivan as an imitation of something else, till who molded ivan into the shape of freedom, the fall to the earth after reaching for the sun with nothing left but burning wax on your shoulder blades
icarus/wax wings is a rarepair comparison in contrast to icarus/sun comparisons, but ive always liked the romance of wax wings!!!
the wax wings that try to bring icarus to the realm of the gods, and icarus whos nothing but human
ivans devotion to his "god" and till who saw ivan as an equal
till who falls to the earth as a human when the one elevating him to the status of divinity is gone
its the fall that makes icarus human, and its flying icarus to the sun despite everything that makes the wax wings a just little human too

He left the grave with us for our safekeeping, and he trusted the ones who built the tomb a myriad ago to wall themselves up with the corpse and die there.
what's up just thinking about this passage in gideon the ninth

Stockholm syndrome does not exist. It was invented after failed bank robbery in Stockholm to cover incompetence of police handling the hostage situation in 1973. Hostages were told they are unreliable witnesses to it because of that just invented syndrome.
So in fact hostages were being gaslighted by the state into believing they fell in love with their captor. And that's even hotter if you think about it.

Huge shout outs to my mutual who always posts about hating when his art gets attention or understanding genuinely helped me celebrate when my art reaches the point where it's only fan or audience is myself. Much like squidward. From spongeb ob

I love that Cold Case does the transition between the past and present players in each case regardless of whether it’s been seventy years or three years.

Happy wip Wednesday!
While this segment is vague on purpose, in context we can infer that Eadwulf is with Fjord and Jester.
--
Hands on him— wet. It’s wet— his clothes? Gone. There’s something— a sponge.
He’s being bathed.
His body is not his own. It doesn't respond to any effort to move, not even to open his eyes. He can feel the hands as they roll him, feel the sweat and grime caked to his skin. Can feel the ache in every muscle, can feel the mattress under him. Hands lift his arms, moving quickly to wash him. Two, he thinks. Two pairs. Two people.
He was touched before. He recalls biting.
These hands are gentle. The scents around him are familiar.
Far, far away in his mind he thinks of Bren. Alone in Vergesson. Strange hands must have touched him. Eadwulf put him there. He chose Astrid, over Bren. He chose Trent, over everything.
They never wanted him.
He was always their means to an end. All the pain he’s caused, the misery he endured, and it was all for nothing.
He can't imagine any of them taking the time to clean him. To tend to him when he is so weak.
He groans. It’s not an attempt at words, or a snarl, though it might have started as either.
The washing stops. A hand touches his face, lifts his chin.
“Eadwulf? Can you hear me? You don't have to fight anymore. You’re safe now.”
The groan becomes a sob.

ok, the thing is that there are six episodes left before succession is over — which, for this show? is a lot of time. and, like, even if we see an arc starting to coalesce before us, i still think there are multiple directions that this could go. like —
i don't think it's an accident that on the paper, "kendall" is mostly underlined, but the rest of his name appears to be crossed out. kendall's soul being doomed by the narrative to not escape the cycle and become his father would be some masterful storytelling, but i can't help but think there's more to this. it's still early; we have six episodes left. these writers don't give up the gambit that fast. just some food for thought.

please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!
