POUCH MAKE.

I decided to make a pouch for my many dice. It’s bigger than I expected it to be but that’s fine, just means I can put my metal dice in there in their case. Keep ‘em nice and protected. (But that also means it’s a very noisy pouch).

Ace colours, the stripes are uneven (the black one cause I wanted to be able to flip the rim and still have them somewhat even, the purple cause I mis-calculated how much extra fabric I would need to  have it come out even after squaring the corners.) Maybe make some more in the future?

Make A Thing

For this #ArtAssignment, I decided to engage my young people in the creation of the project.

For our thing, we made a real life discussion board. This allowed our young people to do their daily check ins in a new way (One student chose the check in question to be, are tigers are wolves better?) 

Each student got to design a simple avatar and a handle, and then we started he discussion, allowing each student to post a comment, and to respond to others comments.

The board reads as follows (edited for readings sake)

Tigers or Wolves: Which is better?

awwolfskatbpacarzy: You are wrong, wolves are beucase they have a good paw.

SuperSaiyanMayachan: Ur wrong cause the babies!

SuperSaiyanMayachan: Tigers are the best cause they have VERY CUTE BABIES

Reills1: I think you’re both incorrect. Cats are the best- you can have them as pets and teach them tricks! And they’re so cute.

awwolfskatbpacarzy: I don’t think you are right because wolves are the best and you can’t say anything!

Some notes:

I was able to use this as a starting point to talk about building arguments, and countering arguments. And! Seconds before this assignment, one of my students said that they could’t do art, and were super bad at it. After this exercise, they were less confident in that statement. The same student has the handle name awolfskatbpacarzy. When I asked how she chose that name she told me she loves wolves, and the last bit stands for “All The Best People Are Crazy.”

We took a screenshot from an anime on our computer. (Which, in its conception, has already made the transition from physical to digital.)

We recreated it with things lying around in our room.

We took a (digital) photo of that.

We drew that image on paper.

We scanned it in and coloured it digitally with the colours of the original screenshot.

I found this traditional fabric wallet (a souvenir from Ende, Flores) under my drawer, fully covered with dust, and no one seems to use it. So I decided to use it. ..with a little touch of my hand, ta da!
