top — aquatic accord, aldehydes accord, juniper essence

heart — coriander essence, iris absolute, rose superessence

base — red seaweed essence, ambergris accord, ambery wood accord

my scent experience:

the fragrance opens very fresh, sharp, and clean with the aldehydes accord. I swear any fragrance that has aldehydes in it will overpower every other note on my skin which is unfortunate as I would like to smell the juniper essence. as it settles, the fragrance becomes floral with the iris and rose but it’s still fresh because of the aldehydes. lastly, the dry down is warm and slightly watery from the red seaweed but I still get that clean aldehydic scent lingering around. this perfume smells similar to Lazy Sunday Morning but with an aquatic element to it. kinda smells like clean bed sheets after a morning swim. oh and yes, this perfume gave me a headache.

the projection is moderate, which I prefer for a clean fragrance like this one as the aldehyde note is quite sharp and can be too much for some people. this fragrance lasted about 3 hours on me which isn’t the best performance but considering that I don’t really like this perfume, it was fine. I sound like a broken record at this point but scents like this one don’t work for me and I wish that perfumers use other notes besides aldehydes when making clean scents.

I see that Yeosang likes Maison Margiela fragrances, especially the lighter, cleaner scents in the Replica line. I’ve mentioned in previous reviews that I also like this line and while I’ve learnt the hard way that their fresh, clean fragrances don’t work for me, their other scents are lovely and some of them are my top faves. my favorite perfumes from the line are Whispers In The Library (which was discontinued), Beach Walk and By The Fireplace but I wonder if this list would change if I had the chance to smell their discontinued fragrances. I would love to try Lipstick On and Funfair Evening but never got the chance to.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes fresh aquatic scents.

those who like the smell of clean bedsheets and watery plants.

anyone who wants to try Maison Margiela fragrances.

Oh I love “by the fireplace”- I’ve also got “autumn vibes” and my absolute favourite is “jazz club”- I recommend them if you like more masculine fragrances. They’re warm and cozy, and if I spray them in my hair the smell wafts around me all day. I bought them before I realized H&L had maison margiela connections, but I’m open to trying more now! ;)

Oooh, I'll check them out. I'm always nervous about smoky fragrances, but I love that they have a more affordable $28 option so you can test them without breaking the bank.

fragrance family: fresh floral

notes:

top — pear accord, lily of the valley accord, aldehydes

heart — iris accord, rose absolute, orange flower accord

base — indonesian patchouli oil, ambrette seeds absolute, white musks

my scent experience:

very clean and slightly white floral-esque. the aldehyde is very sharp in the beginning so it hits you with this fresh, soapy scent and once you spray it, it stays there. I can smell a little bit of rose and iris later on but the aldehydes truly overpower it. when it dries down, I can identify the white musk but it's pretty hard to tell since musk can mimic the scent of skin. imagine yourself taking a nap in freshly clean bedsheets or you just wrapped yourself in clean laundry.

the longevity of this fragrance is sub-par as it lasted only 3 hours on my skin and I've sprayed quite a bit. since this is on the clean and soapy side, it did give me a headache afterwards, so that wasn't fun. this was a reminder as to why I don't really wear those types of fragrances.

additional notes from me:

I really like the Replica line and have tried out majority of their fragrances. weirdly enough, I haven’t given this one a go as I knew I wasn’t going to like it and my intuition was correct. this gave me a headache while going about my day which sucks because I would be all over clean perfumes if they didn't do that to me. the Replica line is one of my favorite perfume lines so it's a shame that this one didn't work for me.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes clean, soapy fragrances.

those who like the feeling of being clean and want a light perfume to run errands or do smaller activities.

anyone who want to try out Maison Margiela Replica perfumes.
