Today passes exactly a year since I published the first chapter of PH and at the same time joined the BC fandom.

I want to thank everyone who supported me through this amazing journey. Tumblr is annoying and is not letting me tag people so I will make few posts with some special thanks yous 🥺 Treat this post as the main one of sorts.

There will be few of these and I'm sorry I probably won't get to everyone. If you're not there please don't take it as if I don't appreciate you, because I really do. I also won't talk too much, because we would be sitting here all day, but I really wanted to thank few people directly. Also it's a PH anniversary, so that's what I'm focusing on with these.

Have a little art of my blorbos. These characters gave me so much and I didn't expect to love them as much as I did. I had PH plot obviously planned beforehand, but while writing I fully connected to the Silvas and in a way discovered Helena.

PH gave me so much this year. I talked to my friends about it when I was very emotional, that this fic in fact will come to an end at some point. It was then when I summarised some of the amazing things PH gave me.

This story is the reason I engaged in the fandom in the first place I wouldn't have posted my art if not for PH Posting the fic kind of started everything But it also brought so much change to my rl

It got me through a serious break up. I learned how to have fun by myself, made new friends, saw who were the fake ones, laughed a lot, cried as well, stayed up many nights, learned how to draw, had an escape when uni was hard, learned how to be true to myself and brave. but I suppose most of all PH brought back my inner child I lost it four years ago, when my life hit me hard and it took me 3 years to get it back to start dreaming and coming up with stories again to go back to my fantasy world

i've always argued that josh and chris have this very strong bond. i want to start by saying i absolutely adore their friendship. i think it's so important overall to the story, so any inferences we receive are mostly probably by some artists on the team that can get away with it. especially with the remake, seeing fan reactions now, it wasn't hard to slip chris 4 josh in there but notice it's not like chris <3 josh or chris + josh, it's still sort of vague enough that like "yeah, i'm here for you, bro!" or "i like you". i think it's intentionally vague to affirm some but not really piss anyone else off. chris is a goofy guy, and also we now know that's josh's truck for sure. makes sense. it's been there a while.

i've talked about all of that in multiple different posts. if you want to read them: chris 4 josh which goes over other relationships with josh and how i see ships with him, etc, and also is more "fair" and less biased towards "climbing class" or what i now just call "chris 4 josh" (and subsequently all my ship tags now follow that for consistency) bc i kinda like that better? climbing class always was a little goofy for my tastes personally, but they are goofy, so it does work, but also ... there's no real connection between them and the climbing class line, it's just kind of a joke? but i get it, there's not a lot of content, but i am here to petition for chris 4 josh as the new ship name. also ... just kind of weird that jossam shippers don't call it "bathing bird" as their ship name? or actually thirty love is a better ship name tbh. go with that. thirty love. not my ship, but there are better names than jossam, i think.

how does everyone in the ud group know each other?

a question about why josh "victimizes chris" and how their relationship should be viewed more critically.

i think josh has other friend groups and the ud kids aren't his main posse, but chris is his best friend.

i've harped on and on about how chris is the main champion for josh's mental health ... that he is the one that truly knows "the most" about josh, despite josh lying to him, too. josh lies to everyone. he's never been really honest with people, always divulging a sort of half-truth or version of himself (his best self) for people to consume more easily.

also, let's give chris some credit here, because he gets shit on a lot for being so inactive in the basement scene.

but think about what he has gone through compared to, say, mike. shocking, right? because mike is doing so much! but what has mike been doing before all of this? before jessica gets taken? having a great fucking time. he's scaring his friends, having snowball fights, getting catty in the lodge with matt if you choose to do-so or just watching his two love interests have at it, jokes with jess all the way there, has a scary moment and runs, then gets to try and fuck her all before getting into his more serious character arc. this is all purposeful, i'm not mad at mike for this. we need this to happen to him, right? to show that he's actually super capable, cares, and will go the distance. mike is the man you want going after you, no question. he is insane for going so hard after jessica, and continuing to pursue onward instead of going back. insane in a good way. i can see why he thinks he can be president.

but chris ... by comparison? not going so great. he's worried about josh, he's already had to climb over the wall before sam, has had to encourage sam to come, has to assuage her this is a good idea, all while trying to check in on josh, trying to have fun, trying to be a good guy with ashley, trying to be the funny guy, having to go through the lodge because josh told him to with a lighter, gets attacked by a wolverine, gets made fun of all while trying to be fun about it himself, goes through the whole ouija thing, goes through the whole basement thing, goes through the saw choice, goes through trying to find sam, goes through having to choose between himself and ashley, goes through josh's reveal, goes through having to tie josh up, goes through having to go back for josh as the only one willing to do so, sees josh might be gone and dead, sees the stranger die, gets attacked, and then almost dies before he gets to the basement? he is honestly exhausted. let someone else have the trauma stick. it's not his time anymore. he deserves to be more inactive towards the end. he just carried the game for us.

but josh cares for chris, chris cares for josh. i won't repeat all my other metas because this is a new meta.

when chris is told that josh's body can't be recovered? he's all but about to cry. he's had to lose josh so many times. he really thought josh might pull it out of the hat again just one last time. that he could be alive.

i've mentioned i think for the remake both endings for sam and josh are just outright lame. josh because it detracts from his narrative, sam because it's just plot holes for days and is unnecessary. as a roleplayer? good stuff, mostly for josh, but as an actual game that isn't catering to the 1% of roleplayers out there? bad decision. josh deserves redemption, but the horror of it all is that he cannot achieve it, instead being consumed by the same thing that consumed his sister(s). josh is doomed by the narrative more than anyone else because the narrative is mostly his story and the story of his family. you're not there for any reason other than josh as the player, he's called us here so we have answered his call (to greatness).

in the beta, josh outright denies sam, who is outright coming onto him. this isn't a sam comparison post btw, that's not what this is. but in the beta, he's still very devoted to chris, even more openly kind of too much. in the game we get, that angle is sort of scrapped entirely. josh and sam have their dynamic, chris and josh are best friends, sam and chris seemed to have some implied thing (ik i write her as a lesbian but i am a slave to canon, folks, chris could very well have been her intended love interest lmao), and chris likes ashley, and thus ashley likes chris. we get a structure of intentional coupling: josh and sam are single, ash and chris are the will they / won't they, and then we have the other four paired together kind of interchangeably (ik matt and jess aren't canon, but there's kind of an implied history with how easily they go after each other, at least in a friend way). this helps not isolate non-couple players. it's a game mechanic thing.

but what's interesting is how josh, who has a lot of front-facing conversations with chris, looks at him?

he's always got a kind of ... i don't want to say tenderness, but definitely a more authentic way of being, even when acting. he is acting to these kids as himself, which is why josh is so believable. josh plays josh very well.

he's looking at chris. in the original, it's the same, but much harder to see (model placement, camera placement, lighting, shading, etc). here, it's much more upfront and obvious, even without my psd. josh looks chris up and down, bites his lip, and nods. that's a very specific way to look at someone. i'll leave that up to you to interpret.

to me, i think josh probably liked chris, felt it wasn't received, encouraged him to date ashley, got mad about it, then got mad at chris for still liking ashley even after the prank, and sort of maybe punished him a bit for that but mostly made chris "his hero" for "his movie". you don't make someone your hero without really having an infinity for them, romantic or not.

chris has always valued josh as his highest even seeing him at his lowest. saying josh isn't on his meds if you don't find all the right clues isn't something was in hannah's diary, that is something chris knows about josh.

i think chris has come to the closest to knowing the real josh. he's the only one, i think, who notices when he's gone.

probably also important: josh's sexuality. for me, i generally choose for josh that women make him uncomfortable.

Are there are asoiaf takes you find so rancid or annoying that you’ll block on the spot?

okay so first of all - i use the block button so loosely on here bc there’s no mute function and blacklisting a url would just bog my blacklist down. once again. pls staff a mute button for when it’s not that serious. but i will block someone, then feel bad because i notice my moots reblog them a lot and i'm like "oh they're not that annoying i was just in a bad mood" and unblock. there's only one (1) take i leave someone on permablock for. every other take i find particularly rancid or annoying is all stuff i just check before i follow rather than blocking over (which is why if u don't have searching on your blog, you'll see me liking your stuff over the span of months before following. i have issues!!! aldjf).

i specifically check for that one gifset that’s like “the direwolves predicting their starkling’s fate” that has sansa getting her head chopped off. if they have it on their blog, it's like 99% likely i'm about to permablock. it’s not only a silly prediction, it’s one made by people who are deeply projecting onto sansa. as she’s my favorite, i think that’s dumb obviously lol. BUT i check for it bc like. U All Know That Group of Arya Stans. i know you know because they’ve commented on at least two of your posts with the most bizarre take you’ve ever seen. i reply when they comment on my stuff (usually just once tho & the people who delete right away are valid) but i’m not out here LOOKING for them lol, i’m actively avoiding it, and That Specific Gifset is a good litmus test for whether a Crazy Stan Groupie just hate followed me or something. also, One Of That Group, as in not just a groupie, has me blocked on this blog AND my main one which i know bc i can’t reblog from half those source blogs they run aksjdj so if i notice someone’s real involved with that group, i just pre-emptivly block bc if i can’t even reblog half of what someone is posting what’s the point there 🤧🤧

people who go on frequently about rhaenyra being entitled, evil, not worthy, "oh well the LEGALITY," or hyper focus on her violence (esp if they’re also an aemond stan🤧). i absolutely Do block people who say shit like “rhaenyra is unfeminist because she doesn’t want to marry laenor but wants to marry daemon.” tho. why? clearly zero critical thinking skills lol i think u can joke about her having bad taste in men without All Of That.

i avoid people who are hardcore into the belief that dany is the unambiguous hero for obvious reasons. if they think she’ll be queen of westeros, if they actively shoot down criticism of her actions in the bay & towards mmd and irri? nah, and i've muted and blocked people for this one if they're particularly nastie. i DO follow idk three or four dany stans but they're generally not out here actively beefing with people and also they tend to hate emilia’s acting too lol, like they’re not Targ Nation.

(which, related, but people who stan dany but are tg? THEE most obnoxious people in this fandom, i NEVER follow those people).

pkmn interactions are rlly fun. Sometimes u get so far w a team u gotta create their own team dynamic and their own story. Even ships. Beau and Xenon get together mid-story and Bonnie and Clyde also have smth non-platonic going on there. Dynamite and Clementine (Cinccino) are also together. It’s oc ception -JJ

SO REAL!!!!

I so that a LOT with my oc teams. It's harder to do that in fangame teams bc I generally have A Lot of pokemon,and thus don't usually have the energy to give personality and thought into each and every one of them. However I think of all my ocs, I think the Rejuv trio has pokemon with the most defined personalities.

Imani: There's sooooo much i wanna talk about given her main team but hnnnnnng it'll be so long and I'll go insane. So I'm forcing myself to focus on June and Sunflower ( I mean there's gonna be mentions of others but it's mostly through said pokemon's perspective)

June ( Primarina, Male) is the leader of Imani's whole box, with Mira ( Nidoqueen) being his second in command. He's very much like Imani, someone who's bubbly, cheerful and always an optimist! Though upon evolving he became much more of a calming presence, and was really shining as a leader ( not that he wasn't before lol, just that fully evolving made him feel more sure of his ability to lead). Him and Mira have this " older brother, big sister" vibe towards the rest of the group, ESPECIALLY with Sunflower and Autumn ( Leafeon, male). His leadership has gotten the ire of Opal ( Milotic, male), and the two would often go back and forth a lot....though if you were to ask Mira, she would say something shifted in their arguments. They're softer, and tend to enjoy each other's company more. Either they don't realize what's shifting or don't want to realize it. Either way their relationship is getting a bit better day by day so! That's a plus, right?

Sunflower( Chandelure, female) is the youngest of the team! Well. If you want to be technical, she is older than all of them, but mentally and physically she's the youngest and acts like it. Ever since she was caught she had wanted nothing more than to explore everything and anything. Her curiosity tends to get her in trouble. A lot of trouble. And it doesn't help that she doesn't exactly have a filter so she's pretty blunt. But her team loves her so it's fine. As a mentioned before, June and Mira are like older siblings to her ( June miiiiiight tetter in fatherly figure), and she adoooores them. Whenever they're genuinely upset over something she did she gets so upset at herself. She just wanna help! Next to them, though, is Autumn, who is both her partner in crime, and also her biggest victim. I think Autumn is older than her, but only by a bit. Both of them are the youngest of their teams and thus, both tend to stick to each other. If you consider Sunflower pestering Autumn when he's brooding ( " I'm NOT brooding !" ) sticking together. They do care about each other though. Autumn is usually the one that tags along with Sunflower whenever she wanders off - mostly to make sure she doesn't get into any serious trouble. But also bc they do get into shenanigans together and it's fun! Despite his " I'm too cool for this" attitude ( me realizing he's basically a young teen compared to everyone else hgvhvgvgvcg), he's very protective of those he loves, including his little sister Sunflower... something that Sunflower never fails to point out! He always gets embarrassed about it when it's mentioned hvcfsghufhgdvd.

Flynn: Hopefully this will be shorter this time! Like Imani, I'm choosing two, but really these two are kinda Flynn's aces/ signature pokemon.

Sakura ( Meganium, male) was Flynn's first pokemon. Atm, how they met is kinda being rewritten since Flynn as a whole is getting a slight rework. Before, it was a starter pokemon given to her by the Blakeory's ( Flynn's parents had something going on with them - and no they weren't rich, this was very much a dept thing). But recently, upon realizing Flynn wouldn't have been born and raised in GDC ( she would be younger if she did), I think she met her Chikorita as an abandoned pokemon in Oblitus town ( she's from Oblitus Town btw). He would have been her first patient....and they've been attached ever since! Flynn is a very very shy person and Sakura....is not. He's much bolder than she is and isn't afraid to get defensive on her behalf. Even when he evolved, he never was afraid to confront things, and even pushing Flynn to get out of her comfort zone now and again. As for the relationship with his team it's. Nooooot as indepth as Imani's, sadly. I can say that he gets along with June very well, and probably picked fights with Opal on his behalf ( yes, it would be a losing battle both in terms of type weaknesses and Sakura being a more support/ defensive pokemon, but that's not gonna stop him lol). I think Sakura and June have a similar sibling esc relationship that Imani and Flynn has ( J: Oh I don't want to be mean... S: Don't worry, I do. J: Sakura!)Sakura kinda gives me the impression that you either vibe with him or you don't. He doesn't hold it against you if you don't as long as you're civil about it. He's very loyal, and isn't above confrontation as you've seen before. But he isn't foolhardy either.

Horis ( Hydregion, male) is kinda the start of Flynn collecting more pokemon. He's not the second she had, that's her Audino, but he's definitely the third. No he's not related to Dylan. Maybe. We'll see. The two met in the hospital, Horis being a Dieno that wouldn't let anyone near it despite its need for treatment. Flynn, by some miracle, was able to worm her way into his heart and he's been following her around ever since. Once a guarded dragon is now a big ol puppy. Loves Flynn, loves it when she pets him, loves it when she baby talks him, loves making her happy!!! I think that protectiveness has made it hard for him to get along with other pokemon though, especially as Flynn started expanding her team. He may be. A smidge jealous. Just a smidge. But I think he's overall a pleasure to be around. Very excitable, and while it will take a while for him to get used to anyone, he likes playing with others. Sometimes he forgets he's bigger than he used to be though lol. Sakura and him definitely had a bit of a rocky start. Sakura was concerned for Flynn's safety after what he's heard and Horis was privy to anyone who wasn't Flynn. Much to Flynn's pleasure, they gradually got along better as time went on ( specifically bc the girl got wrapped up in Plot and the both of them could agree that Flynn's wellbeing was more important than any distrust they had).

Arrow: .....maybe this will be shorter? Only one bc I'm losing steam aaaaaaaaah-

Firecracker ( Charizard, male) - Arguably the oldest of everyone I mentioned here, same as Arrow. Despite this and the scars that he has, he's genuinely a softy. Likes looking out for others, a great sparring partner and an amazing flying buddy. He's a sweetheart! He's known his team for a loooong time, with only a few recent additions I think. Him, Jester ( Gliscor, female) and Sunny ( Helioptile, male) go waaaaaay back to Arrow's youth, and are three peas in a pod. Not as bashful as Jester but not as outgoing as Sunny. A good balance and thus, is easy to talk too! I think the other younger pokemon look up to him ( something he gets bashful about hgbfgbnjfdfhj).

And that's it! God this was long. It reminded me I should think about my ocs pokemon to pokemon dynamic more. Imani's team is really fruitful in that regard but I feel like the others are lacking so. Yeah! Something to keep in mind.

But sure let me give you a tour through some of my fav book series!!!

The raven cycle/ the dreamer trilogy (4 books + an extra 3 (plus a short story)): CW (bc there are a few) my favourite book series,,, it’s all about vibes and the connection between family, friends, the world and your place in it. Ronan Lynch is my absolute fav character of all time omg there is no one like him!!!! 😭😭😭

All for the game (4 books as of now but there will be another one): read the CW I’m so serious! this book series is like crack to me,,, Neil is such a little shit and funny main character! The way Andrew and Neil invented consent is revolutionary! Also heartbreaking twin brother relationship that has me on my knees (Aaron you deserve so much better I love you baby boy) also fucked up sport that is connected to the mafia (and so is every second character) last book is from Jean’s and Jeremy’s pov and that’s such a slay too tbh 🙂‍↔️

some book moments I always think about:

captive prince trilogy (3 books + short stories): CW again a lot of people don’t like the slave themes in the first book but then love the second and third which makes me think that they didn’t understand the story at all. the book with the main characters who’s horny despite all the shit that’s going on, Damen the man that you are!!! ALSO BITCHY BLOND WHO RUNS THE WORLD LAURENT I LOVE YOU SO MUCH (no fr Laurent is out here playing real life chess and Damen just stands by like “whatever you want sweetheart”)

these books are so unserious sometimes:

Laurent could inspire homicidal tendencies simply by breathing.

Dark Rise trilogy (2 books and the third comes out soon,,,,, hopefully the cliffhanger is killing me): another book with a bitchy blond (James alone is enough reason to read this book) I left work early to continue reading this book and I think that all you need to know about this book! Also Will has never done anything wrong I love him so much!!! Some of the organizations in this frustrated me a lot tho like why are you so stupid????? (They deserved their fate I’m not even sorry)

this book has all the right themes and messages:

“My whole life, all anyone's ever wanted was to possess me," said James. "The only one who ever set me free was you.”

Spell bound (stand alone): this is such a comfort read!!! So cozy! Enby representation around every corner, a door mat that likes to trip people, boy without magic learning how to use magic, emotionally unavailable person turns into a cat and snuggles with the love interest, THE POWER OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP

the starless sea (stand alone): do you love books and reading? Then this is for you! Everything is connected and I mean EVERYTHING. So magical and cool and beautiful written. Had me spinning in circles while I was trying to connect all the dots (I didn’t connect shit)

this book speaks to me personally:

“Not all stories speak to all listeners, but all listeners can find a story that does, somewhere, sometime. In one form or another.”

“But the world is strange and endings are not truly endings no matter how the stars might wish it so.”

“A boy at the beginning of a story has no way of knowing that the story has begun.”

“Having a physical reaction to a lack of book is not unusual.”

I’ll stop here bc I fear I won’t shut up if I don’t. Yeah these are just some of my favs I do have more but I think these are also the ones you see me post about the most!

I do really want to buckle down and get my old WIPs presentable though, even if I do resort to just cleaning up pencil sketches (though ideally I would like to ink and color -- or even just settle for inking).

I talk a lot about my concepts and I feel bad/frustrated that I can't present them...

I would say the Veronica focused comic is like a one-shot, initially planned to have two pages (though only one was sketched/written out).

Meanwhile I have a long ongoing plotline that started off as a non-serious, silly comic, that I ended up having Strong Feelings about actually, which eventually would kick off all of my Askr sibs/Alfàr thoughts. There's a short interlude with Sharena and Lif as well in the og silly comic as well, as I was drawing parallels/trying to grasp the vibe... this comic did actually reach coloring stage, almost all character illustrations are fully colored, bg blank (which. The art is so old. I almost just want to leave it.)

And I guess that Is the nice thing about doing all of this as a hobby, like, nothing Actually has to be done perfectly, it just needs to look presentable. I can take as many or as few shortcuts as I want, and learn in the process what works for me.

Like, actually, I feel like my Henry/Libra/Nowi comic is a fantastic example of that -- the bg is extremely basic (borderline looks childishly done), and I Know I could do way more than that, but. All I really wanted was to draw something quick and fun that was exclusively focused on the characters, the joke, and the actions taking place. The background only existed for the purpose of Making it work -- you need to see that there's a river, that Henry is currently dragging Nowi towards as if he was disposing a body. And later, you need to see the river still, when Libra picks her up and throws her into it. Core point, it doesn't have to Look nice -- it just needs to perform a function.

Something else nice that I learned in letting myself do it poorly is that watercolors are really good for broad quick coverage. Which IS something I knew and was going to utilize in some Genshin comics, which ultimately got abandoned esp bc I lost the interest -- I just haven't actually Used the method in a larger piece. Which! I think is actually what I'm getting at.... being able to draw something small, not serious, with the lowest amount of effort required to serve its purpose, actually helped a lot in conceptualizing how I can approach future projects. And likewise, how I can approach cleaning up older ones that don't quite stand the test of time.... but again, I may just opt for filling in the necessary blanks (fully coloring The Characters if it got to that stage) and cleaning up what I can with updated art (which would end up being pencil sketches).

Another thing is I really want to organize everything somehow, beyond my art tag. Especially because a lot of these thoughts are interconnected, even in the case of the Veronica one-shot. And of course, the other WIPs, while disconnected at first glance, Are the jumping off point for a storyline that has A Lot of different parts. no, my real name is based off how easy it would've been for my grandma to say, who doesn't speak english. my parents kind of failed on that basis haha (there are 2 pronunciations of my name and i prefer one rather than the other!) but my name's alright

december 2022/january 2023 was my big cry era but i probably shed like one tear after that over something like film / tv / animal video that was too cute etc

...yes, kind of accidentally? i think i just use it for emphasis rather than like the ~sarcasm is my only language~ type. irl my voice and tone is very blunt/firm/dry so a lot of people think i'm being sarcastic when i'm serious/just talking etc!!! and i have no control over it!!!

5. What sports do you play/have you played?

i played badminton as a kid. i did ultimate before i realized that would be too much running and now i do spikeball, which is excellent for people who hate sports. but i seriously do love spikeball because as someone who doesn't really Sport it's not too hard (minimal amount of running, focus on hand eye coordination and reflexes) so it's accessible to people who aren't athletic (me)

i don't know. vibes? if i think i would like them? i'm wary of people at first so it's probably vibes. ngl i'm the type to be very self focused so i'm usually just focused on introducing myself and getting them into the Group so they don't feel uncomfortable

no! i desperately want a cat though. a russian blue is probably like the ideal cat for me but i don't have my own place and it's doubtful i'll get one anytime soon! i'm also open to other hypoallergenic cats but i don't know how much better they'll be in comp to a russian blue bc i met one before and my allergies weren't as bad-- unrelated but i am seeing a cat today everyone plz cheer for me. i really hope that cat likes me but i will respect his personal space bc apparently he's shy

Who am I ?

I'm Klaus and I use he/they pronouns, a teacher at the Pokemon Academy in Santalune City (Neuvartault), Kalos. I'm originally from Johto but I moved here just before I started the Gym Challenge. And I'm in my mid-twenties.

I'm delusional enough to say it's Daylight, another Jackson AU where nothing bad ever happens and everyone is happy

Okay answering this is funny bc contrary to what my archive shows, I rarely can write smut and only when the mood strikes right and I have something to say, I guess 🧍🏽‍♀️which means that it's mostly really bad written kinky smut lol but who will stop me

Not really, I don't have enough interest in them anymore (but back in 2016 I created one with a friend that involved anime and werewolves. It’s not posted, don’t ask)

Unfortunately not yet :(( there have been some talks with some writers about the idea but it never happens, and it's unfortunate because I loooove sharing ideas and working together creatively (Koku can agree with me on this, we've created so many things this year)

I have a bunch of them that I cherish with my whole heart but if there’s one that hits all my checkmarks it's Joel/Tess, their ambiguous nature has always been fitting for them and it works wonders to fill in the blanks, and also I've loved them since the beginning lols I'm never making it out of this hell

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Shaking and crying I think it's ALL the multichapter fics I have planned but have no clue how to keep writing 💔💔 in any case it would be Fourth of July (canon divergence au where Ellie is Tess and Joel’s bio kid, she leaves and they reunite when she gets bitten then reconcile in the canon journey)

Maybe that I have versatility? I think I can write about many things and topics efficiently, characterization and that I employ poetry often... I think

Would it be wrong to say everything 😭 but joking aside it's definitely dialogue, plot heavy writing and certain genres (action and suspense mostly)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I encourage it doing proper research + consulting someone who actually speaks the language, so it's authentic! That's what I would do

Anime fandom who shall never be brought up again.

J&T Ficlet collection because it has some of my best writing and it showcases my style perfectly, I'm glad I got encouraged enough to post it <3

Last song I listened to: M83 - Holes In The Sky (Phantom Liberty LITERALLY has a mission called Hole in The Sky at the beginning of the DLC. I'm surprised they wasted such a perfect opportunity to use this song 'cause I saw the scenery and heard the ambient music in the game and was already anticipating it because it kinda sounded like this song to me.) Listening to it on repeat since yesterday tbh.

Favourite content to watch: I'm not really sure what to answer cause I watch content on occasion and in waves. Basically, I binge watch it mindlessly and then I stop for a while. Most of my subscriptions on YT stay unwatched these days, which sucks.

On YT I'm subscribed to: a couple of cooking channels (one local one is currently my fav, his videos are very cosy); a dude with a farm; some YTbers that play video games (haven't watched any playthroughs in such a long time, now that I have my own PC and the ability to play); some true crime channels; a woman that lives near the North Pole; two different channels that help homeless people; a couple of tech channels (smartphones, PCs, new hardware like that); a pet groomer; a drawing channel or two; cross stitch/embroidery/sewing; a couple of aviation channels; a couple of renovation/DYI channels.

If I had to pick, then right now it's the woman that lives close to North Pole and a pet groomer. A dude with the farm is kind of my fav, but sometimes I'm not in the mood to watch it and miss a couple of videos. Same with aviation: I love love LOVE airplanes, but sometimes I'm not in the mood.

Despite it looking like a lot, I really don't watch that much. Out of maybe 30 videos visible on the page it would be good if I watch one or two videos without scrolling down or going to my To Watch playlist and searching for something to watch there.

Favourite games:

Of all times fav: Uncharted 4 & Dishonored/Dishonored 2. Cyberpunk 2077 (probably; bc I currently have 322.7 hours on Steam there & I'm planning on continue playing. A particular brain worm from there and his best friends from the past are everything.) Deus Ex. I keep forgetting that one but Y E S. It was there before Cyberpunk happened.

As in *right now*: Baldur's Gate 3. RDR2 (maybe? I haven't played that one since the moment I finished the main game, but the story deeply shook me and I called it a masterpiece in my review on Steam.)

To me a FAVOURITE is something you commit to, so it's hard to choose something that I'd actually *actively* stick with. But if we talk less serious, I love video games in general. So many of my fav characters are from video games.

Favourite colours: Most shades of blue (the ones that have blue in them too). Deep rich green <3. Gold.

Favourite animals: All of them. Yes. (I love cats, whales, horses, cows, wolves. I'm an animal person.)

Favourite food: Pickled cucumbers is my all time fav. Pasta (mac and cheese). Sushi (basically sea weed + cream cheese + red fish/lox + maybe a cucumber or bell pepper = heaven). Cucumber + tomatoes + bell paper + sour cream salad is my base that I can't function without. I'm a foodie (which is my big problem since ever but oh well.)

Sweet, spicy, or savoury: I'll keep your answer in a way: 'NOT spicy, my acid reflux does not enjoy that.' Yeah, mine too. Can't eat spicy at ALL, it hurts my guts for real. I like a mix of sweet + salty + savoury. I wouldn't want to eat just one thing out of these. Sweet and sour sauce is <3

Current obsession: Cyberpunk 2077. Couldn't watch anything today, couldn't think of anything else, couldn't focus. But then BG3 adds to the mix because I'm still hoping to finish editing that Halstarion fic. It refuses to work with me & I dislike a lot about it. And, of course, Drakecest is my all time fav obsession, it's always at the back of my mind, chilling on the couch, waiting for me to come back to them and start playing with them.

Last book I read:

The one I finished: The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James. It was a reread.

The one that I didn't finish: The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St. James. I listened to an audio version that I found, but I only found 2 parts & it's definitely longer. I'd like to finish it, but I haven't seen more parts so far (and to download the actual book and sit down and focus on the the text is a god damn TASK for me.)

Last thing I googled: Probably "hands to the sky, i am a dreamer m83" because I started singing it, but for some reason thought it was 'I need you' by them and started listening to it. Turned out, my brain mixed the songs.

Fun facts:

I was a very active and a very popular kid in kindergarten (first french kiss there during the nap hour while everybody else watched and cheered? yeeeah. very silly, very fun. lol.)

I went to see one of Saw movies to cinema when I was around 10-12. Because I was so young, my dad had to go with me. He loved to tell his friends after how grown people couldn't handle the look of autopsy and guts while I didn't even blink. It always made me smile when he did. I loved the look of blood and horror (which stayed with me to this day, though I get anxious sometimes about blood in some situations.)

The money I bought my cat with partly came from Depeche Mode ticket that I bought, changed my mind, and sold (and, obviously, gave those to the breeder as a guarantee that I'm getting the kitten. I was around 16.) The rest of the price my dad paid for me.

I used to be a huge concert freak. All the travelling I did (13 countries) happened because of concerts. As soon as I turned 18, I started travelling. I slept outside a stadium of my fav band. I met musicians at airports and their hotels (mostly locally though, before I could start travelling). My time as a teen and up until 20 years old was very fun.

#god I'm trying so so hard not be a bitch about this but it's soooo annoying to see people who didn't care about the show until now#suddenly decide that they need to take up with it bc for some reason one single trailer of a white guy with longer hair and a#fruity jacket who's in make-up is more compelling than two of the best seasons TV has seen in the last decade#and like I get it a lot of people really looked forward to Lestat and we DID get two season with Louis as the main and it's not even THAT#it's the fact that they even DID that trailer when they never did ANYTHING like it for the other two seasons when the marketing#department was practically silent for s2... the fact that they announced the 3rd season when they did directly before the finale#the fact that the finale WAS so rushed and that for some reason Rolin keeps talking about being SO excited to finally get to do TVL#which on one hand I get bc that's his blorbo we KNOW that but also my dude come on this isn't your fanfiction you're doing a tv show here#... like... god I don't know one of those things I could just ignore but it's EVERYTHING coming together that makes me side-eye#the entire thing so hard rn#like I WANT to have fun I WANT to enjoy watching Lestat make an ass out of himself I want to enjoy watching him on screen#but they're making it SO HARD for us with the way they are laser-focusing on the white guy in the room to the exclusion of everyone else#(obviously like... none of this is Sam's fault that man sometimes says weird shit but I think that has more to do with him just not being#good at talking and also some thoughtlessness than any active negative feelings or intentions on his part like he's FINE just don't put#every word that comes out of his mouth on the gold scales bc I can guarantee you for a lot of the shit he says he probably just didn't thin#it all the way through so 🤷🏼‍♀️ this wasn't his call and it's not his fault.)

Hope including these tags is fine i just thought they were good though i don't entirely agree about everything. I'm more optimistic about s3 and since Rolin and other writers have been mostly stellar so far i have a lot of hope and confidence that they're not going to forget how to write a television show and address serious complex topics just because Rolin's blorbo will be in the spotlight. And i think the strike likely affected the ending of s2 being kind of shoddy, and i also didn't feel like Daniel was portrayed as a 'savior'. But i'm deeply annoyed that the marketing and a significant part of viewers are acting like the REAL show is starting now. Like people in the notes of my posts with Lestat going 'oh i need to start watching this now' like where have you been for the past two years.

And the most annoying thing is when any fan of color expresses any frustration with the marketing or with how many white fans are acting they get rude and condescending reactions from certain fans. I have a lot of trust in Rolin as a showrunner and writer but him having said several times now that they're moving away from unreliable narration and 'memory is a monster' when it's mr Lyingcourt's season makes me raise my eyebrows a little. I hope that Rolin is referring more to the show's narrative structure changing and there being less flashbacks etc. because if he meant to suggest that Lestat is going to be a more reliable narrator than Louis and Claudia that would be incredibly stupid

AMC discarded season 2 like a piece of trash and suddenly has knows how to market this show but iwtv fans will still try to gaslight me & others about their particular motives. 🆗️!!!! No wonder this fandom behaves like the real show is finally starting when the network does too but then I get told im overreacting or bitter 🙃

I was actually just going to make a post about this. I wouldn't go as far as saying amc is discarding s2 like a piece of trash but especially now after they released that lyric video i'm starting to feel there's a very noticeable difference in the marketing between two previous seasons and how the marketing for s3 has started (before they've even finished writing!) Some people cynically predicted in the past that a shift like this would happen when the narrative focus shifts on a white character and it sadly kind of seems they may have been right. It COULD be coincidental like if they're finally listening to people's complaints about bad and lacklustre marketing and how it's limiting their show's potential, or because iwtv is much bigger now than it was even compared to earlier this year and they've probably gotten a bigger marketing budget when amc's confidence in the show's potential has grown. But it's very suspicious that this increase of confidence and realization that their show could be a megahit they should invest in accordingly is happening right at the same time the story shifts to focus on Lestat. I don't subscribe to the idea that amc ever tried to intentionally make the show fail because it would make zero sense financially, but i get an impression they perhaps didn't trust that the first two seasons would have broad mainstream appeal, but now they trust s3 to have that.

I'm still excited for s3 but it's incredibly frustrating to see this difference compared to how s1-2 were treated, when the show's success is very much based on those seasons and their black lead. Like this show has grown its popularity slowly and organically despite weak marketing simply because of how good it and its cast is. And now when it seems to be about to hit the zeitgeist, the network decides that it's time to give full effort when the show is going to focus more on a white man. Anyone who's saying you're overreacting or bitter when pointing that out has not paid attention to how the entertainment industry works because this isn't new or unusual, and there isn't a reason to assume amc is any different than almost all the other networks and studios

it’s a sci-fi dystopian thriller thingy that takes place in the unnamed capital of an unnamed country with an authoritarian government that relies on terrorising the people and threatening them with human experiments (and actually going through with it).

Ada Speer, our main character, is a resistance fighter who lives with her best friend Jaz (a night club singer) and Timmy (a hacker) in the basement of the club Jaz works in. Ada and Jaz met a few years ago when Ada was 16 and killed a guy who tried to molest Jaz and then they somehow moved in together.

Ada is actually unhinged. Like my girl has some serious mental problems and also an unnaturally close bondage with her knives but it’s not her fault ok. When she was 5, her brother (i still have to decide what to do with him) sent her to a girls’ boarding school that was Actual Hell. She had to share a room with a girl who despised her and bullied her in a truly awful way, she saw some of the girls she had become friends with be taken away in the middle of the night and she also had to endure the teachers’ horrible treatment and yeah. All peaches and cream right?

However, during one of her various attempts to run away, she meets a former knife-thrower from a circus and learns how to defend herself and fight (with knives. she hates guns). When she’s 16, she kills her roommate, cuts her hair like joan of arc and runs away for good. She comes to The City, meets Jaz and works on her plan to kill government officials and overthrow the government.

At some point, she meets Elliot in a casino (i yet have to decide why she’s there), a gambler who fights against the corrupt politicians by inviting them to a game of poker and cheating. Hehe. But hes a real sweetheart and hates violence (when he has to do it himself. when ada does it it turns him on tbh) and just wants to have world peace. He btw doesn’t have any less trauma than ada, it just shows differently. But explaining all that too would take too long now.

And yeah, they join forces and they are both into each other but ada is a really difficult person to like. Bc she doesn’t even like herself so. I don’t know how it’s going to end yet but that’s it so far. i love them a lot. very very much

The first time Ada Speer killed someone, she was sixteen years old. She stabbed the girl with a pair of scissors that she had just cut her hair with and it was insignificant, really. It was a necessity. She had it coming. (Thinking back, Ada was not sure if she would have done it again. Something she had noticed during the years was that people disliked being killed.)

The second time she killed someone was in a dark alley in The City. She was still sixteen but she felt like forty-three at least. A man was molesting a girl in a green, sparkling dress but Ada was wearing black so they only noticed her when she slit his throat. 

This was how she met Jaz.

Later, when they were sitting side by side near the river, Jaz said: “Look, I appreciate you saving me and everything but did you really have to kill him just like that?”

Ada looked at her in astonishment. “What else should I have done? Beat him up? He probably wouldn’t even have been grateful. And it wouldn’t have changed him either.” She wasn’t entirely sure if Jaz understood her reasoning.

What Ada just couldn’t process was why exactly people hated being killed so much. It wasn’t like they had any say in the matter. 

Ada had learnt very early in life that it was better not to be angry about things you couldn’t change. She stopped wondering why certain girls disappeared sometimes without an explanation but she figured that they would stop disappearing if the teachers were dead. This was something she would take care of later. 

At first, Jaz was a little hesitant to let Ada sleep in her room and Ada couldn’t really blame her for that. She liked Jaz and so she refrained from threatening her and in the end, Jaz saw that letting Ada stay with her was the best outcome for everyone.

I'll be talking about my process for this art of Wen Qing.

Fair warning that this is going to be a bit of a mess because my process is all over the place, but I'll try my best to explain without it being too confusing.

Planning

Since this was a request, I started by reading the prompt, which asked for Wen Qing and roses. Roses are my one of my favorite flowers so I claimed the prompt and started thinking about what I was going to do with it.

I knew I wanted to do a portrait with roses surrounding Wen Qing, but I still wasn't sure about what the composition was going to be, so I started looking for references to see what would work and to get some ideas.

I started looking for photos of Meng Ziyi that I liked and at first I really liked this one.

She looks great, but when I tried sketching it I couldn't really get the angle of the face right, so I tried to look for a different picture that was within my skill level. Luckily, I remembered seeing a very pretty pucture the day before so I looked for it and this one was the one I ended up going with.

After that, I downloaded some free to use pictures of roses. I really liked the contrast and the color scheme in the pictures so I though I could apply it to the painting itself and so I began getting a clearer idea of what I wanted to do.

Creation

I opened my art program (IbisPaint X) and did a sketch of what I wanted using my references. My sketches are always super messy and I can't be bothered to do lineart, so I usually just clean them up a little bit and work over them directly. I should actually learn how to do proper lineart at some point, but today is not that day 😂

Then, I chose my base colors and filled in the drawing to get an idea of where I was going with the piece. I really likeed how it looked like this so I sent it to my friends for validation. They were extremely lovely to me as always so I was excited to continue working on it 💜

Before rendering, I knew I wanted my light source to be on the right and I wanted the shadows to be quite dark, almost black, but that's the extent of what I knew before going into it.

And then I started actually painting! Unfortunately tumblr won't let me post the process video into this post so I'm going to upload it on twitter. You can see it here! I don't really know how to describe how I paint other than there's a lot of going back and forth and over stuff that I already thought was finished. The whole thing took around 12 hours, which is a bit longer than I usually spend on a portrait but I think it was worth it!

For the main piece I only used three brushes. I did add a bit of glow and sparkles with different brushes on a separate program, but I mostly used these three:

Note that these are at full opacity but I usually work a very low opacity because my stylus doesn't have pressure sensitivity (bc my equipment sucks) and that's the only way I have to blend my colors without the blending tool, which I don't really like because it takes away the texture.

I also had a bit of trouble with the colors in this one because it's not what I usually do, but after multiple adjustments and with help from the references, I ended up with something I really liked!

After the piece was done, I added some of my usual sparkles and a bit of glow and then saved it to my gallery. Then, I opened my editing software and played with the contrast, saturation, brightness and some filters. I was left with three versions of the art that I liked: the one I eventually went with and these two (I still really like the first one tbh).

I sent it to my friends so that they could help me pick which one looked better and after a long period of very serious deliberation (read: we all panicked bc we're gay and can't choose) we ended up going with the one that ended up being posted to the mdzs net!

I then sent it to the net for posting and waited (im)patiently for it to go up! ❤

And that's it! I hope someone can get something put of the mess that is my process or that it was at least enjoyable!!!!!

ok i have a rant. mittelfrank-divas is becoming the fandom police and its ruining the fandom. like every time someone makes a post (not even necessarily in the main tags) that is remotely related to their brloved waifu (hell even ionius) they start vague posting about it in a super manipulative way. it annoys me how manipulative they are and how huge of a following they have. i wish more people could call them out but they hide behind their little "I'm just an innocent littol fan uwu" persona and it's so manipulative AHHHHHH

i was just talking to nils about her in private when i got this. mittlefrank-divas is… uh… an interesting presence in the fandom imo though i wouldn’t say a good one.

i simply don’t understand what her main goal is. she seems to have an almost all encompassing need to make edelgard a victim (which she is in some regards) in any situation that could paint her negatively. like she talks about how thales groomed her and has her on a leash like a puppy or something and says that him saying duscur was done for her benefit was just him being abusive? bc if that’s true then why was the tragedy done? what was its purpose other than to help pave the way for edelgard? did he just do it for shits and giggles?

yet despite this she gets so defensive over ionius for some fucking reason. like don’t you want edel to be a victim? well there you go. conquest was all daddy’s idea and edel was groomed to follow what he said. and tbh i don’t think she has actually read the theory bc she seems to be under the impression that we think ionius was behind the insurrection??? which no… nobody thinks that bc it’s stupid. the insurrection and the experiments were two different events with the opposite end goals.

the insurrection was done bc daddy hresvelg wanted to hold all power in the empire and destroyed house hrym for trying to leave for the alliance and sent twsitd mages to house ordelia since he was the only one in charge at that time. the other nobles are rightfully scared and stage a coup for the end goal of disposing the emperor’s power.

the experiments were done for the explicate purpose in creating a peerless emperor that could gain all the power. why on fucking earth would the nobility take power away from the emperor and then immediately give power to the emperor? besides the nobility have no ties to twsitd only ionius does as stated earlier.

like… those goals are in complete separate directions… and if the writers came out today and said that ionius was not involved at all and it was all on the nobility, ionius is still a weird guy bc he goes to garreg mach as an adult man and picks up a student to be his sex doll bc that’s literally what a concubine is. like at the bare minimum in canon he’s a weird adult who fell in love with an underage girl, killed an entire bloodline, wanted to be a tyrant, and allowed children as young as two be tortured and killed at ordelia. why would you even want to defend him in the first place?

and none of this is touching on diva’s weird habit of using false equivalencies and apparently not knowing what imperialism is since she claimed dimitri did it was well by taking the alliance which isn’t that at all. there was no political or military post in the alliance from the kingdom there to take autonomy from the nation. they went there to help preserve that right to independent rule and was just given the alliance by unanimous vote.

and like you said she has this persona of being a fan girl who just likes meta but gets defensive when you tell her that something she said goes directly against canon. if it goes against canon then it’s fanfic not meta. if you don’t abide by the laws of the game’s universe then you can’t make serious takes on it since it has to be founded in the games text. i just don’t understand how her mind works.
