I wont lie, guren, shinya and mahiru as mlp ponies sounds awesome

i finished them!! yay!!! the catastrophic trio as fucking My Little Pony characters, featuring unnecessarily detailed cutiemarks. 🐎

Mahiru as Midday,

and Shinya as Deep Night. (i guess he could've also been Midnight, but the little pastel ponies often seem to have double names)

i'm just kidding. of course i made him one anyway.

this would have been massively easier (and quicker...) if i had just drawn them as actual mlp style ponies, but horse anatomy is just too gnarly, i couldn't resist. i like horses. sigh.

either way, i think it's awesome how you can just translate their names into english, and BOOM, you have a pony name.

My thoughts about the moon and sun as ONS

You know, I like relationships where one is represented as the Moon and the other as the Sun (no originality yes)

Like for example in the ship ShinGure, Shinya is represented as the Moon and Guren as the Sun. And I remembered a line from Shinya in the novels about Guren, something about Guren being like a light/sun. (it's very cute)

Now, I didn't originally want to talk about ShinGure but rather MahiRen.

From the beginning in the cat16 novels, Guren compares Mahiru as the Sun. But I remember in some Kagami Q&A I saw on the ShinGure wiki, there was an answer: Shinya and Mahiru consider Guren to be the Sun.

I find it funny and cute that Guren and Mahiru both consider each other as the Sun. That makes us a pretty sunny couple! <3

The reason people compare and relate them are because their roles in the story are similar. Not because they are the exact same character, it wouldn't make sense to make the same character twice anyway.

For example both Guren and Yuu have the same role in their stories and of course a lot of parallels. But of course, Guren and Yuu act and do things completely differently. But I think we all can agree that they're both supposed to be the 'sun' and are supposed to be 'attractive' because they care for their family more than anything. Both Guren and Yuu startedü high school with no intentions of making friends, and planning to take their revenge.

We all know that Ons is a very MC centric series, both Ca16 and Vampire Reign. So the other characters have their roles depending on how related they are to the MCs. Guren lost his first friend as a child, Mahiru. Yuu lost his first friend as a child, Mikaela. They both didn't meet for years. Guren and Yuu became cold again, but still got their new friends who said they'll help their revenge. Shinoa and Yuu both aiming for revenge on vampires (since they're both in JIDA, even if Shinoa isn't trying to take a revenge she is helping yuu in some way) Shinya and Guren both aiming for revenge on Hiiragis. Schnee already talked about in what way Shinoa and Shinya's personalities are similar so I'm skipping that.

Then Guren and Yuu both met their childhood friends again in a shocking way. Mahiru had become a half demon (ignore their interaction at the first days of school, this is where Mahiru actually shows her true self) and Mikaela had become a half vampire (since he wasn't a full vampire yet). From then on both Guren's and Yuu's goal was to save them. But meanwhile they got a new family. Shinya and Shinoa both have the role of reminding them that they're family. Shinya and Shinoa both tried to ignore their feelings for the suns. They both have a chapter where they talk to their demons about those feelings, although it was done in different lights.

Sorry I'm writing stuff everyone already knows, but I just needed to show everyone how clear it is that Guren/Yuu + Shinya/Shinoa + Mahiru/Mikaela roles are the same. BUT OFCCCC THEY ALL HAVE DIFFERENT STORYLINES BECSUSE THEYRE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS IN THE END. And that's exactly why we compare them right???? They all had the same paralells of situations but made different choices!! Guren gave up on saving Mahiru but Yuu still doesn't give up on Mikaela! Shinya kept reminding Guren to not chase after power but Shinoa wasn't able to keep Yuu away from using demonic power! Mikaela always wanted to run away from all of this but Mahiru was always in the middle of everything! I mean even the names Shinoa and Shinya are selected on purpose don't you think?? There was no reason to make them that similar (although they're written with different characters)

But yeah, especially after chapter 60s Shinoa started to change and became a worse character, which is both because kagami's bad and sexist writing and because she's under mahiru's effect a lot. That's why Shinya and Shinoa are not that similar anymore. But I also think that Shinya saying "I will never give up on Guren" was a little bit possessive, although not as much as Shinoa. Well let's also remember that Shinya is now 24 and Shinoa is 16. As a teenager, Shinya also said that the meaning of his life was meeting Guren, if you think about it Shinya's character is pretty dependant on Guren too.

Many people relate shinoa with shinya however I never felt like that despite the fact both always smile i always wonder if they actually are that alike. Like for example they shinoa became soo obsessed with yuu, I feel shinya would never be like that. Also after chapter 120 I especially feel like shinoa is rather immature and also selfish or probably just she doesn't take a notice of the emotions of her loved one whereas shinya on the other hand is really mature.

I feel like shinoa and shinya are very different despite they both mask their emotions, infact shinoa is rather like her sister.

Actually I personally also never understood why Shinoa is always compared to Shinya. Apart from very superficial aspects, both their character and role are very different.

The main reason Shinoa is compared to Shinya seems to be that she takes the role of the character that the MC meets when they are teens and both are part of a "love triangle". They both make sexual jokes and seem outgoing despite being dead inside. So far so good.

But I agree with the points you brought up. And to me Shinoa is mostly a mix of Shinya's and Mahiru's traits which makes sense in regard how she grew up. I will go into details later. Let's first look at their roles.

Shinoa's and Shinya's role

While Shinya's role was to support Guren and show him and lead him to the "right path". On the way he got attached to Guren and therefore did put his own life in Guren's hands.

Shinoa's role is to fall in love unreciprocated and awake her desire in order for Shikama to feed on this desire. She was never there to lead Yu or support him in a special way. Her story is about being used and not even realizing.

Mahiru and Shinoa

So yes, Shinoa is obsessed with Yuu. And to me that is not surprising considering where she comes from. All Shinoa knows about "love" comes from Mahiru and Mahiru was very obsessed with Guren. Shinoa never learned what healthy love would look like. Of course she would take after her sister. That's why I totally agree that Shinoa is like Mahiru.

Mahiru taught her to always smile so people would like her, she told her that the way to happiness is falling for a guy. Shinoa was meant to get obsessed. Just like Shikama said that she will meet someone that will make her want to project her desires on him. Shinoa probably wants Yuu to make her happy just like Mahiru wanted Guren to make her happy. And that's not healthy at all.

Shinoa never learned any healthy relationship because of her close relationship with Mahiru. And that's why she is now selfish and seemingly immature about it.

Shinya and Shinoa

Shinya and Shinoa on the other hand were never close. Shinoa knew Shinya and though he was a lot more sane and he had been nice to her, she never considered him a close family member.

Considering that both Shinya and Mahiru had learned to always smile to hide the pain. In that sense Shinya would be more similar to Mahiru wouldn't he? Apart from the evil intentions and the obsession.

And that's the point why you say Shinoa and Shinya seem to have less in common. Shinya always takes a step back when it comes to his own goals, to the point where he even denies he has any. Whereas Shinoa never learned to take a step back. There was a time where she didn't have any goals but as soon as she has one now, she goes for it. Sadly in an unhealthy way.

To keep this short, I also see a lot more parallels between Mahiru and Shinoa.

But I feel a lot of people in this fandom only look at the obvious similarities first instead of the reasons and the characters emotions behind it. Which leads to superficial parallels. *Cough* Guremahi parallels

I would love to see Shinoa's dependency on Mahiru being explored in the vampire reign manga a lot more. Because it would finally explain the way she acts and her whole act wouldn't look as unreasonable as it looks now.

The right path or the wrong path?

Man I actually can't believe myself to write this but...well sounds like many people have this problem today so I decided to take a look at what is actually the right path for any characters in this story and what is the wrong ones:

The right path for Guren: Not to make any friends from outside of his own people--->Not saving Mito, Goshi, Sayuri and Shigure when they were trapped on the school by the Hyakuya sect--->Not to try to save Mahiru and marry a woman his father would chose for him--->Back to his homeland after finishing the high school and live under the Hiiragi's shadows and accept to all the humalizations, marry with a woman someday and having children and continue living like his dad, his dad's dad and... And finally someday naturally or being killed by the Hiiragi clan for whatever reason (even for fun)

Right path for Shinya: Not looking after Guren--->Not to try to make friends at all specially with Guren---->Be a good dog the Hiiragis always wanted him to be and never disobey them till the time he would die naturally or being killed by the Hiiragis for whatever reason (even for fun)

Right path for Mahiru: Not to go and fall in love after Guren like at all---->Not to try to protect her little sister and let the Hiiragis to use her however they like to and turn her to a monster or whatever else they liked to plus let Shikama doji to possess her and....---->Be a good girl she should be and marry the one his dad chose for her and bring several children for the Hiiragi clan so they will be also the future laboratory rats too---->Finally dies or being sacrifice on December 25th because her father (or actually Shikama doji) wished too

Right path for Kureto: Become something 100% like his father---->Not thinking about anything other than himself and so not to try to kill his father----->Having many children by forcing, raping and using many many women and then use those children for his future human experiments too---->Die someday after turning to a literal evil with only a human face at the end

Right path for Mika: Accept his fate as a vampire and drink blood as he should and live like a normal vampire he should and let his Yuu chan go forever and live a meaningless life like all other vampires

(oh yeah as a human the right path for him was to not to try to escape from the vampires city and be that good animal like all other kids were)

Right path for Krul: Let her brother, the only reason of her life, go and again just like Mika live a whole meaningless life like all other vampires

Right path for Saito: Becoming something exactly like Urd and just like other vampires live a whole meaningless life forever

And....

The result of those right pathes:

Nobody would stay against Shikama doji and so he would do whatever cruel things he wants---->The world would destroy on December 25th anyway---->As there were no one to stay against him and to rebell then he could successfully finally sacrifice Yuu and bring his dead son back to life and destroy God and then destroy all the remaining humanity and creat his own dark sun and dark world with his demons living in it and becoming the king of the new world by toying with everyone even his own son

So guys yes that's it you're right these are the right pathes and that's the result of those right pathes.

So?

Yes here is the moment you can see that:

Those are not the right pathes.

The point of this story is actually this one clear and easy sentence too: Do not give up against the fate no matter what

Did we have a good result if Guren had decided to continue to be like his past generation, Krul, Mika and Saito be like other vampires, Mahiru and Shinoa and Shinya like other laboratory rats and good dogs the Hiiragis wanted and Kureto to decide to be like his father eventually?

That's how you need to take a look at this story now.

OnS Chapter 103

We got a full color cover this time!

Finally... a new chapter!

Yuu got reunited with Mika last chapter. He now gets transported to another mental world and this time, it’s familiar: the abandoned supermarket where Mika first drank a human’s blood - Yuu’s.

I’m sure many of us still remember the blood-sucking scene, right? I was really excited for that when the 2nd season was still airing. Of course the scene differs between the anime and the manga.

Everyone outside waits for Yuu to succeed in turning Mika into his demon. While they are worried about their friend, it doesn’t mean they won’t make fun of him at his expense. lol

Things are about to get much more complicated though. It seems Shinoa is finally having trouble with the 1st Progenitor. Not surprising since it is the 1st she was against. She was doing really well though.

Mahiru decided to give herself another dose of the drug so she could help her sister despite Guren’s worries.

Shinoa tries to put Shikama Doji to sleep once more but it’s not working. Shikama Doji also tried possessing Shinoa again but it was a failure since Shinoa isn’t as weak.

The 1st Progenitor then sort of praises Mahiru and Shinoa. It seems out of all the people he was able to possess, the sisters are the hardest and most difficult. He admits it was risky to be connected to them for this long and that they made him actually have emotions he didn’t want like fear.

He mentions “saving” Yuu and Mika. Shinoa asked him what this meant but he said he can’t talk about it.

Shikama Doji finally says his thanks and goodbye and decides to leave taking with him the power Shinoa has due to the possession. Does this mean Shinoa would need another demon?

Yuu finally found Mika who can’t remember him anymore due to being a demon. Yuu points out that if Mika didn’t remember him, then why is the place they’re in the supermarket?

Mika claims he doesn’t know what Yuu is talking about and says he wants to eat Yuu (no, not that way, unfortunately lol). Yuu was about to agree since it’s Mika and all and he has been feeding Mika his blood all this time.

But after remembering a certain convo, Yuu decides that he won’t let Mika hurt him. He knew Mika wouldn’t want that. Yuu brings out his sword to fight.

Yuu declares his goals and Mika does, too. It’s a battle between the two of them!

Oh, Mika... at the moment, Yuu’s deepest desire is to save you and be with you. What are you gonna do about that?

Their supermarket fight soon forced Mika to go out and now he gets a glimpse of the place they’re in. It seems to be a mix of a place in the past and a place in the present. (I wonder if the walls surrounding the place represents Greece or if it’s supposed to be Sanguinem).

Mika finds the place and the scene following this familiar.

He wonders whose world it really is - Yuu’s or himself?

I thought... what if it’s both?

The chapter felt short but it was interesting. It seems Mika’s current important memory was in that abandoned supermarket. I wonder what made it special? Is it cause it’s where he and Yuu finally get reunited in back then (like Yuu thinks)? Is it cause it’s the place where he finally lost the last part of his “humanity” as he becomes a full vampire? Or is it because this is the place where he first got to drink Yuu’s blood (this theory is from me, a fangirl lol.)?

So... Shikama Doji finally left the Hiiragi sisters. What does this mean? Is he gonna be out with a physical body now? Does that mean Shinoa now has no weapon whatsoever? Is she getting a new demon?

What are the warped souls? The black suns? Shikama Doji mentioned that before, too in regards to his son, Mikaela. What is this and what’s going to happen? Is this what Shikama Doji has to save them from?

This entire chapter presented to us a lot of questions. Hopefully they get answered as the chapters come out. The next one comes out the 1st of July!

Walk back home (Gureshin oneshot)

Description: Shinya had always been good at expressing how he felt but if there was one thing he couldn’t express that well, it was the feeling of love.

A/N: helloooo !! I tried making a oneshot about gureshin? because idk hehe :> anyways hope you guys like it !! forgive me for any grammatical mistakes though and am so sorry if it turns out to be a sloppy and bad oneshot :

Guren Ichinose wasn’t one to express himself. He didn’t like the thought of expressing how he felt about someone or something. Whatever he felt, whether it was bad or good, he kept it to himself, like always.

Shinya Hiiragi, the opposite of guren ichinose, was a boy who could freely express how he felt. He could easily express how he was feeling and express what he wanted. He had times when he wouldn’t tell anyone about how he felt but it was normal, people just want to keep some things to themselves.

It was quite funny to others that guren ichinose and shinya hiiragi were friends, well bestfriends to be exact. They’ve always thought that guren wouldn’t be able to have a friend, let alone make one. But, expect the unexpected from these two because they are something else. Shinya may have come from a well known family, even though he was adopted. Nobody dared to mess with shinya because of his status while guren, guren was an ichinose. Not really known to others so he wasn’t a hotshot in his school unlike shinya but that all changed when he had met the said boy.

Guren would’ve walked away that day but he found himself holding onto the other boy’s hand as they walked to the cafeteria.

“Guren, they have chicken stew today.” shinya had said as they made their way down the hall. Guren found it all to embarrassing, from the way shinya was holding onto his hand and from the way he wasn’t resisting shinya.

“So? I don’t like chicken stew.” Guren nonchalantly said as they entered the cafeteria. Shinya could only laugh and turn around to face guren, he softly smiled before leaning in, close enough to earn a blush from guren.

“But you like me right?” he asked softly as he looked guren dead in the eyes. Guren had obviously not expected shinya to say that at the moment but that’s shinya hiiragi for you.

“What the– stop joking around.” he said, turning his head away from the silver-white haired man. He should’ve seen this, he should’ve known shinya would tease him by flirting with him.

“Oh stop acting like you don’t love it.” Shinya playfully said as they went to claim their lunches and headed off to find a table for them.

“I don’t love it nor like it, so please stop.” Guren said as they sat down, shinya sitting opposite from him as they started eating.

“Mmm, whatever ichinose.” shinya mumbled as he took a spoonful of his stew.

Days had turned into months and months had finally turned into years. Guren and shinya were now high school seniors, they were graduating in a few weeks.

“You gonna miss me?” shinya asked the other man as they walked down the street, guren in front of shinya as they walked back home.

“Honeslty, no. I’ve spent my whole life with you so yeah no.” guren replied nonchalantly as he continued walking, his eyes looking ahead.

Shinya clicked his tongue as he watched guren from behind. His eyes trailed down guren’s back until he found guren’s shoes. He watched every step guren made on their way home, he watched guren’s foot move up in the air just a little to take a step forward. It was like this, everyday. Guren and shinya would walk home together, guren leading the way as shinya would walk behind him. They would talk about a few things before the conversation would eventually die and they would walk in silence, watching the sun set. It had been like this ever since their elementary days, the two would walk home together.

“I’ll miss you though.” shinya finally broke the silence. He had stopped walking when he had said this, his foot wouldn’t take a step further, he couldn’t keep up with guren anymore at this point.

“Hmm? But we’re always…” guren said as he stopped walking when he had realized shinya has stopped walking as well. He was about to face shinya when he felt firm but soft arms wrap around him. It was shinya, he was back hugging him.

“Yes, we’re always together. We’ll always be even after graduation…. that’s what you were going to say right?” shinya said as he buried his face into guren’s back. Slowly but surely, hot tears had formed in shinya’s eyes, they slid down his cheeks as he spoke. “I know I’ll see you again, ichinose. I know I will but…. I’ll miss spending this much time with you, I’ll miss holding your hand and I’ll miss being by your side, guren.” he finally said before letting out a soft sob.

Guren could only stand still as shinya cried, he didn’t know why but his heart felt like it was breaking, like piece by piece he was falling apart. “Shinya….” guren started as he tried to move and face shinya but to no avail.

“Don’t. I don’t want you to see me like this….” shinya softly said as he continued hugging the other. Shinya had always been good at expressing how he felt but if there was one thing he couldn’t express properly, it was the feeling of love.

Guren sighed softly as he stared at the road ahead, the sun had started to set and it was getting dark. He couldn’t move due to shinya and he didn’t dare to move, hearing shinya’s soft sobs. It was one of the few times shinya had cried and it was also the very first time he saw shinya cry because of him.

“I just wanted to tell you that, no matter what guren… I will always miss you and let alone love you.” shinya softly said as he sniffled, his heart was clenching and his body wanted to fall down and collapse. “I love you so much guren, ever since the first day of elementary school till our high school days and until this very day.” he said, his eyes shutting as he held back more tears “I loved you so much that it hurt and I didn’t know I was hurting until I realized my feelings for you.” shinya breathed out.

Guren felt his heart drop at shinya’s words. Shinya was crying because he loved him, loved in a romantic way. Guren swallowed the lump in his throat as he tried to break free but shinya held him in place.

“I know you like my fiance, mahiru.” shinya said as he softly smiled, his tears soaking guren’s school blazer. “I’m not asking you to stop liking her just because I confessed my feelings…. but I just wanted to let you know how I felt.” he continued on “and I just wanted to say that I wish you the best with mahiru, I really do hope you guys get together, guren.” and that was when shinya had let him go, the once tight arms that were holding him in place were suddenly gone.

Guren stood still, his heart was hurting but he didn’t know why. Was it because he loved someone else and he hurt his bestfriend? Was it because shinya was crying because of him? Was it because he was so damn confused? He really didn’t know.

“I will still and always be your bestfriend though, guren.” shinya softly said as he walked past guren, his hand in his pocket as he walked under the now dark sky.

Guren wanted to reach out and hold shinya’s hand and continue their walk home but he found himself standing still, watching shinya walk away into the darkness.

      He can’t bare to look at her. Not now; not ever; not after the way she was ripped from his child-like hands all those years ago. To look at her is to look at the sun, but he’s a worm in the ground. The sun will dry and burn him. He doesn’t DESERVE her. He’s too weak to raise his hands to the sky and pull her back into his arms, and knowing that rips his heart into thin pieces of glass. Feelings are such fragile things.

     ❛ No. ❜ It’s a simple word but he speaks it firmly. Although, he can’t look her in the eyes to say it. He can’t bear that sort of pain to see her face once he continues. Instead, violet eyes focus on the ground. In a way, it’s more familiar than the goddess before him. She’s beautiful now — not that she wasn’t before. But there’s more to her. She’s grown, and she’s changed the way a rose grows thorns. He feels more of the same; a powerless teenager. Nothing has changed other than how many years have passed.

     For a brief second, his eyes spare her a glance. It’s not to see her, it’s to make sure she’s there. She’s not some figment his mind has conjured to torment him. What he’ll never tell her is that he used to imagine the fairy of the forest dancing outside his bedroom. I know, I know...😔People should give more credit to Shinya. I mean in OnS, there are characters who have lost someone important but they still had other people in their life, there are characters who saw friends getting killed but that was one time thing not an everyday thing, there are characters who lost many things but they still had a mentor figure who they could go and cry to and let all the pain out, there are characters that were abused but that was a one time thing and not constant, there were characters who were in hell but at least had the freedom to move around and not be locked inside a cage away from the Sun...

Shinya had none of that. He had the worst childhood.

After his parents tried to kill him, Yuu was lucky to have Mika. After Mika ‘died’, Yuu was lucky to have Guren as his ‘father’ to come and cry. After, Mahiru died, Shinoa was lucky to at least have Shinya and Guren come and ask her if she needed help or if she wanted to eat dinner with them. After 5 year old Guren was hit by the Hiiragis, then what? He still had 10 years of life with a caring father and kind subordinates without the presence of the Hiiragis.

Shinya was basically treated like a convicted criminal. No. Not that. At least criminals have the freedom to go the courtyard when they want, ask for some items that they wish to have or even talk with their family and friends by phone under supervision. Shinya was treated like an animal with no rights.

Alright everyone! Time to talk about the meaning of Mahiru's, Shinya's and Guren's names a bit!

I did promised it before to talk about this and as I could successfully pass my today exam with full mark! Then~ I wanna write it down as some kind of gift to myself lol

Before starting as you may know I dislike writing long theories so I just go straight to the main points!

Why Shinya and Mahiru's names are opposite of each others?!

Is it just some random names or Kagami has plans for them??

Absolutely the second option because we saw how much the meaning of names played important roles all this time.

What I want to say and think Kagami wants to use is this

This is the Yin and Yang cycle in Chinese culture with lots of deep meanings and one of them is that when something creats in this world, its oposite will also creat along with it too.

Just like right when the light created the darkness also created along with it too and actually one gives birth to another and these two always replace with each others.

Directly to the main point:

We all know Mahiru was a good and kind girl when she was a kid although she sounds to be a bit manipulating even as a kid too (in light there's darkness) but then she turned to nothing but a monster who destroyed Guren's life fully and finally forced him to fall into the same darkness she fell too.

Against this case that's Shinya Hiiragi.

A boy who had a hard past and even if he didn't have much choices his life he was the one who had a very dark past and his hands became bloody and dirty on a young age but even those times he was trying to makes friends and be kind

Just like as if he was trying to find light even on those dark moments

(in darkness there's light) but then he turned to someone's who was and is literary Guren's savior.

Mahiru showed the dark path to Guren before her death although Shinya showed the light path to Guren before his death and here is the point of:

Mahiru sounded too angelic and pure but she was nothing but a monster Guren finally found it out and accepted it too (Wrat19 volume 2 chapter 3) and Shinya was the one who sounded devil and stone heart but he was actually that savior who Guren always waited for.

As much as Mahiru ruined Guren's life, Shinya saved his life, gave him a reason to live and a reason to continue (Wrat19 volume 1 chapter 3)

Guren was like a sun to both Shinya and Mahiru (Kagami sensei's A & Q) but Mahiru ignored it although Shinya melted on its light and so the yin and yang cycle changed and one borned its oposite side again:

Mahiru and Shinya's places changed.

Shinya turned to the light one Mahiru turned to the dark one.

Maybe even that's why Guren's feelings chenged a lot too.

Crimson Lotus is a flower blossom in light of sun and day (not to mention that Lotus flower is the one who gave birth to Sun God Aten in Egyptian culture in the first place too) and we saw how much in Catastrophe at 16 novels Guren's all wish was to save Mahiru but now?! His desires completely turned to Shinya and all he wants now is to save Shinya instead which means how much Mahiru and Shinya's places changed just like the Yin and Yang cycle can change.

Also Kureto means twilight a balance between light and dark which we can clearly saw in his character that his nor a devil man like his father not a completely good human too but is a complete balance between both parts.

I also said this before too that in this story the symbols are not the usual one we always saw in real life.

Someone who wears white doesn't exactly means that guy is the good guy and the one who wears black means to be the bad one! In this story the symbols are completely different just like how we saw it before in Fanbook of ONS that how Mika who wear white is the one who is in darkness and Yuu who wears the black one is actually the light one (just like how finally Mika turned to a demon and so yeah that was such spoil Yamato sensei gave us that time long ago)
