I must admit Magu-Chan a lot of slack for its use of plushie golems compared to how most , because the thematics of meaning of what is life and “following orders too well” is there.

A body double is created for Magu Chan to be a decoy against kidnapping. Its meant to mimic and learn from him, but starts trying to mimic and learn from everyone.

Also it makes sense for a “golem” meant to mimic an eldritch abomination to have a different animation process. Golems of lore were made of clay because Adam was made from clay and they were imitating humans.

My main problem is how often the most famous type of golem used as an inspiration was created to fight racists, and basing enemy monsters off it. The older, vaguer texts however feel less disrespectful using as a reference.

However, its not my place to say whether its offensive appropriation or not, but then again since “golem” is also an insult for a “dumb” person its not inherently a sacred term. So I think it might be an appropriate loanword here.

I just realized: Muscar has collected a large number of sealing crystals. But now his ability to control whatever he unleashes is kinda in doubt after being so weakened from battle and Unera’s trap.

Course this does mean Muscar might be able to threaten releasing all of them at once.

Really waiting on a frog or toad god inspired god in Magu-chan

There’s a lot of possible inspiration for a design

The crab-eating frog also shows some frogs are coastal enough to fit in the “sea” theme

And come on! There are so many frogs monsters from or with froglike features in the cosmic horror and pulp genre!

There’s a bit of overlap between Chainsaw Man and Magu Chan fandoms, many fans of the former treating the latter as a palate cleanser.

I’m not into chainsaw man, but I figured this is a funny crossover.

Also Naputaaku isn’t able to reach the pedals so his crab minions have to work them

...as I think more and more on this, I come to the horrifying conclusion she and this knight did the dirty together, and the order of Holy Knights’ magical powers come from most of members being descended from her.

I mean...the whole “tainted blood” thing is a Lovecraftian trope ripe for mockery and why not do it with the most anime boy to not know what anime is.

This could actually end up being heartwarming, with perhaps Magu-chan telling Izuma he is a far “more tolerable entity than the manipulative witch” and a biological connection does not change that.

To say how little Magu Chan takes him: in their second encounter Magu offers him shaved ice after Ruru explained to him expectations of hospitality.

Also this gives me flashbacks to Godzilla 2000 where Missiles that were basically giant spears passed through Godzilla’s body and by time dust cleared he had already regenerated
