Landlords aren't shit. Please help my best friend!
Hi, so, i know i am pretty dead on here. However, I've come out of haunting Tumblr with a massive plea and an ask for help. My best friend has been having issues with her landlord for past two years and now only has 42 days to get out of the flat after the court meeting. A lot of people, not only in UK, but all over have similar issues of landlords stealing all the housing and then selling them over what is worth. Especially when they wont fix the necessary stuff that needs to be fixed. Here is the link to the twitter thread and gofundme. You dont have to donate if you cant spare anything. However, all we ask is for you to share where you can and especially push her twitter thread because so many like her need to be heard too.
Tumblr media
I would say im sorry for adding tags that shouldnt be here but im tryna push it as far and wide as i can, esp to those communities i know can at least also try help <3

Interview starts when timer hits 1.31. Original footage on YouTube here:
Excerpts from a student project created by Simon Bebbington, Shelina Mawani and Mandy Mattheson. It was made as coursework in the second year of their Communications Studies degree at Sheffield City Polytechnic in early 1985.
The brief was to highlight the problems faced by local bands in Sheffield. It is presented by Floy Joy's Desi Campbell and features interviews and footage from various Sheffield bands.
Pulp’s section includes an interview with the band (mainly Jarvis and Russell) filmed in Jarvis’ mum’s back garden and a live rehearsal room performance of The Mark Of The Devil.
Tumblr media
Jarvis, Candida, Russell, Manners, Magnus. Rare it is to see this line up performing, let alone being interviewed together (even if only Russell & Jarvis do the talking!) It is an excellent performance of Mark of the Devil btw.

Dead Cosmonauts Navigate the Wreckage of a Shattered Future
Here at Doom and Dead we shine a light on the underground doom, drone, and psych acts you’ve never heard of. Every month we choose a new release that deserves more attention than it’s gotten. This month’s pick is from the UK band Dead Cosmonauts.
Tumblr media
We find ourselves living in dark times. Every day we struggle a little harder in a world that’s more expensive, more hateful, and more toxic than ever. Dead Cosmonauts’ first full-length album, Parasomnia feels like a warning, or maybe a premonition, of how much worse things can get. These songs are constantly in flux, shifting between graceful melodies and dissonant noise. But above all, these tracks are undeniably HEAVY. The album was mastered by Cult Of Luna’s Magnus Lindberg, so expect a sound that’s both haunting and forceful. These Sheffield-based doomers offer up a feast of technical musicianship and audacious songwriting that will keep you enthralled from beginning to end. So strap on your gas masks, and step out with me into the post-metal wasteland that is Parasomnia.
Liminal Space (65 mins REM, vitals = stable) is some moody, chaotic doom. Listening to this track is like dragging your fingertip across a wine glass; the sounds are both resonant and screeching, satisfying and unsettling. The song boasts deadly sharp riffage and decisive drumming, all bathed in a noxious broth of heavy fuzz. The composition shifts into a lower gear as we approach the finish line. Vocal samples from radio presenter Ailbhe Máiréad emerge from the digital snow, painting detail into the post-apocalyptic scene. The weight becomes unbearable, and the song finally buckles under the crushing atmosphere.
Beneath the Choking Sky starts with an ominous drone. Tone and texture form a boundless landscape. In time, the drone gives way to an introspective melody that slowly expands to dominate the space. The track is layered and delicate, but dangerous — a spider’s web that tangles listeners in silvery strands of desperation and despair.
Kenopsia propels the album forward with a digital pulse and an insatiable groove. Odd rhythms and novel drum patterns flare up and burn out rapidly, their short lives leaving stains on the unforgiving environment. The track flirts with intensity, building in magnitude only to pull itself back again. It’s a titillating composition, adroitly and artfully executed.
In Spirals It Took Everything is a palate cleansing soundscape that weighs the noises of nature against digital human chatter. The vibe ranges from safe and cozy, to wondrous.
Swallowed In Dark Waters is mysterious, plush. It exists in a dim expanse with wafting smoke and the cloying aftertaste of plucked guitar strings. Mania descends and the composition is impassioned, even fanatical. Sumptuous bow work from guest violinist Ruth Nicholson adds spice to the experience. In the wake of this outburst, the mood curdles. Chugging, slow passages are interwoven with bursts of frenzied lunacy. Extra notes jostle for domination in the narrow space of each beat. This piece is nothing if not restless. The tide shifts again and again, pulling us into ever deeper waters. This track is not the longest on the album, but undoubtedly one of the most profound.
The final offering, A Vision From The Valley Of Dry Bones, starts out insubstantial and jolly as if tapped out on a toy. A heftier layer of instrumentation rolls over the desert, dropping a barrage of gritty guitar riffs and jolting drum work. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… dyin’ time’s here! Digital effects whiz by like meteorites. This piece fiddles with sound and texture, but remans melodic at every turn.
Nothing remains stationary on Parasomnia. Everything transmutes, changes behavior, and is continually replaced with something new. The bleak and unforgiving realm the band has conjured feels like a very real omen of things to come. The album oozes with narrative, even if the story is up for interpretation.

The Magnus Archives oc incoming, one of two that I have created with my boyfriend <3
This is Vivienne, full name Vivienne Nimue S. Olila, and they work as a very creepy mortician dealing in the supernatural that jumps about the place until they end up in London, finding themselves at The Magnus Insitute's door after ignoring them as they are contacted several times about several statements made about their odd behaviour inside mortuaries across England.
Fortunately, Vivienne is just a tall autistic albino person with a hyperfixation on death, lack of social skills, and a very creepy way of motion. Oh yeah, and their arms got replaced with mannequin arms around 2010/2011ish.
Theyre aligned very heavily with The Stranger and The End, yet don't actively partake in scaring people, people just find their autistic rizz too scary naturally. Vivienne has a distinct lack of identity, with them telling no one their age at all and avoiding all references in the past as to ensure no one knows very much about them. They don't have much of an identity at all tbh until they reach the institute, they develop it alongside Martin and bond because of their isolation and such, along with bonding with oc #2 called Marlene but more on her in a different post.
Boring (but not really) backstory stuff below the cut.
Vivienne is a mixed race, half Filipino, half English person. They originally came from a Filipino province on the main island before their parent split and their English father took them to live in Liverpool, shortly before moving to London for jobs. At some undisclosed time in their formative years, Vivienne mysteriously, and without any memories of it happening, turned up floating across the River Thames on top of a discarded wooden door. Their father was beside them, dead of course, rotting.
Vivienne was eventually rescued but the trauma caused them to devote themselves to a life of caring for the dead. They didn't want other families to see their loved ones as rotted as Vivienne did theirs.
They first went back to Liverpool to take on a mortician job, though had to switch to other spots such as Sheffield, Nottingham, Northampton, Luton, Southampton, then finally London as either businesses would shut down or their uncanniness made others hostile towards them.
Eventually, after Jonathan Sims and his crew of gay researchers keep trying to contact Vivienne enough because of continuous statements, they turn up at the institute and reveal that they are in fact very human, just a bit creepy and missing some limbs. It's even revealed that since they moved to London in about early 2016, they were the one contacted to deal with Jane Prentiss' body, and have the holes in their wooden arms to prove it. They eventually get taken on as an honorary researcher and a mortician for the institute and archives as the staff so need them. They hold a lot of connections from bouncing around, you know?

Happy Birthday Scottish actress Sandra Voe born on Shetland on 6th 1936.
Other than the fact she was born on Shetland, where her father owned a fishing factory, there is little I can tell you about Sandra’s early life. However she has been a very busy lady, appearing in many TV shows over the past 50 odd years Voe began her on screen career in 1966, appearing in an episode of Dr. Finlay’s Casebook.
Her shows in the 70’s include Coronation Street, Emmerdale Farm, Within These Walls and Sounding Brass, during the 80’s on TV and film, Bread or Blood, The Practice, Open all Hours and Local Hero, the 90’s saw her in the brilliant Takin’ Over the Asylum, which seems to crop up in a few of our anniversaries and another regular show on my posts Taggart, over into the 21st century and oor Sandra was still working hard, the pick of 15 different shows and films were Playing the Field, Midsomer Murders, Foyles War, and of course Monarch of the Glen .In 1993 she was also in the gritty film Naked, which also starred Ewan Bremner, Spud in the Trainspotting films. In the past 8 years Sandra Voe, now in her 70’s shows no sign of slowing down, Holby City, Howards end, in 2013, inevitably she turned up in her home Islands on the superb Shetland. Just this year Sandra has chalked up a couple of appearances on the hit series, Vikings as a witch
As well as the many, many TV and film roles she has also been a regular treading the boards at some of the top Theatres, including Sheffield Crucible, Leicester Phoenix, Leicester Haymarket, Oxford Playhouse, Birmingham Rep, Manchester Royal Exchange, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Nottingham Playhouse, Bristol Old Vic, Bloomsbury, Hampstead, Lyric Hammersmith, Almeida, Bush, Shared Experience, RNT, Royal Court and Ambassadors.
Her daughter, Candida Doyle, was keyboard player with the '90s British pop band Pulp, her son, Magnus Doyle, was Pulp's drummer. Sandra was last on our screens in the very good mini-series Trigonometry.
Recently Sandra has been reliving her Local Hero experience when she makes a return trip to the north-east for the 40th anniversary of the film. She has teamed up with fellow actors Jimmy Yuill, Jonathan Watson and Tam Dean Burn and met school children from Banff Academy and Fraserburgh Academy.
Sandra said: “It’s wonderful to be coming back. The place and the community is conjured up so well by Bill Forsyth that you really believe it.”

Graham Folger's Parents Die in Car Crash on M1 near Sheffield (MAG – 003 – Across the Street)
MAG – 003 – Across the Street:
Statement of Amy Patel, regarding the alleged disappearance of her acquaintance Graham Folger. Original statement given July 1st 2007. Audio recording by Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London.
Regarding: Acquaintance at community college, Graham Folger, writes constantly in notebooks, has a hypnotic table, and eventually disappears becomes a new physical person ("Not Graham"). Statement-giver Amy lived across the street and watched him.
People:
Amy Patel
Graham Folger
Shifting multi-limbed creature
"Not Graham"
Desmond Folger; Samantha Folger (Graham's parents who died in car crash on Aug. 4, 2001)
Places:
Birkbeck University
Clapham
M1 near Sheffield
Misc.:
Hypnotic table with missing center
Smoking
Journals
Notebooks
"Keep Watching"
Key Language:
Graham Folger definitely existed, and appears to match up with her story. According to coroner’s records, Desmond and Samantha Folger, his parents, died on the M1 near Sheffield on August 4th 2001, and Graham Folger’s name appears on the register of several colleges and universities in and around London over the next few years. The flat she mentioned did belong to Mr Folger, but was sold through an agency in early 2007. All the photographs we’ve been able to source seem to match the description of this “Not-Graham” that Ms. Patel described, except for a few Polaroids, enclosed, which appear to be from the late 80s, and show the two parents alongside a dark-haired teenager who doesn’t match the later photos at all.
