(Sorry op, this got too long for the tags. I was getting a little. Uh. Intense down there. This is mainly an excuse to brainrot about senn. I also have thoughts about abbigail but uuuh not tonight. Enjoy)
(Additional disclaimer: im not checking most of this info. At this point im only here for the Vibes. All of this could be completely misremembered. Also I constantly live in a parallel world where SoW is, yk, good, so sometimes i willfully ignore canon.)
So I LOVE that analysis but I will NOT stand for senn slander /lh but some other quick thoughts first
Regarding other species' reaction to the end(haha) of the Ender-Monarchy, I think the magnorite were originally under enderknight control, considering they are part of the alliance in season 1? And after the revolution, they formed their somewhat independent state in K'arthen. The Felinas seem relatively mixed with human population, though they are (i think) more common in felden, but I dont think they have their own state since humans are common in felden as well. Other species like the glacians simply aren't known enough/don't have enough political power/not enough people to be considered at all apparently.
(Edit:) i have a a quote on the absence of civil war after the revolution: "ALLISTER: 'The Enderknights have always ruled... well at least until King Rendor stepped down and created the six kingdoms" (Season 2, episode 6, page 211). So (so far as we trust allister with anything) the kingdoms would have been put in place by rendor before (or as a condition for) steping down. Interestingly, this means that the kingdoms borders and very existence are already a product of the end colonisation.
I totally agree on the ardoni, the consensus seems to be "just kinda let them vibe, they have a tendency to start world wars when startled". Though their territory and the kingdoms overlap in place (i think they're even in between kingdoms sometimes? Which, fuck thats uncomfortable what if the kingdoms go to war with each other?) they pretty much do their own thing. Humans don't seem to interact much with them either.
Considering they could wage war on each other with no problem before the revolution, they probably weren't under end control. I would LOVE to know how the end reacted to the exile situation however. ("Oh voltaria is empty what happened?" "Oh we didn't like the voltaris, so we moved them to Northwind :)" ",,,isn't Northwind ours?" "Not anymore :)")
On the "do kingdoms govern themselves" thing, I think they mostly do. They're clearly fairly independent, since K'arthen can and does cut off all its relationships with other kingdoms at some point, and the other kingdoms dont really manage to stop it, meaning they're some super-entity able to crush rebellion, but a bunch of individual actors each pursuing their own interests. They still have very strong bonds though, as the flags in Crown's Peak show. The way I see it, it's kinda like the EU.
(Side note: I still have no idea what the deal is with Crown's Peak. Is it a city-state? A kingdom? A central seat of power for the alliance? Is it independent, or is it shared between the kingdoms? Does it even have a government? Favorite city, its so utterly random)
So, concerning the "do the kingdoms have kings" question, my love for direct quotes took over, and i went to read the script because I was certain i knew part of the answer. Season 1, episode 3, page 37: "Cuts to Felora, the capital of Felden. Lucan is looking better and is standing in front of the three Felden leaders."
So yeah, felden has a concil, or at least a Triumvirate. The use of leaders makes me think it's not a monarchy, though i have a hard time telling exactly what system of government they are using. Interestingly, they are referred to as to as "Felden Official 1 & 2" (the third never speaks), which i thought meant they were just bureaucrats, but it seems to actually to referring to this quote: "You can't enslave us- we're official council members of Felden" (season 2, episode 8, page 247), which confirm my council theory.
Hyperia is giving me feodal or oligarchy vibes from the discussion Denny has with Abbigail concerning Allister's status as a Diamond Heights in season 2, episode 6, page 213: "Pinkolson farm has always done the hard work to feed people like those in Diamond Heights. Yet, somehow, we stayed poor and they just got richer [...]. Ive been to his house before, i saw the dragon egg on display." Note that the dragon egg Grim and Jalkar steal from Etheria is in "the castle" (season 1, episode 2, page 14: "Cuts to Jalkar and Grim walking through the Etherea castle.") It's obviously a symbol for the very high class. (I have Thoughts(tm) about the use of dragons and the reinforcement of sexism and classism, but we dont have time for that rn).
I cant think of anything else for other kingdoms at the moment.
///BIG SENN RANT INCOMING\\\
So, Senn uh.
To me his passivity is,,, kinda the point? Like, not calling him useless or anything, but he's a kid. That's a whole teenager. He's not prepared, he's not good at many things, he's terrified the whole time. He went on a Cool Child Friendly Adventure(tm) with his father figure and found his whole life turned to ash when he came back. He made a spear for Ria, which, sure, that's a weapon, that's violent in nature, but forging is also art! Hes essentially only part of war because ria is there (which i find super interesting considering his whole arc about finding where he came from. Like. He's not exactly SEARCHING but we know thanks to the whole Deltheus kinda kidnapping him thing that he doesn't turn down info either. But he always goes back to her. There's something here, but I cant quite explain it properly. Back to my point.) ANYWAYS. He's not especially gifted. He's not powerful. He's not important. Theres no REASON for him to suffer. He suffers anyway.
(Side note- i think there's a lot to be said (and that HAS been said) about what characters in sow WANT vs what they GET. Like. Achillean was a fisherman. Senn wanted to be a smith. Ingressus was trying to make peace. Even on a kinda unrelated arc, Lucan who just KEEPS getting his labor exploited. Tygren's "look what you made me do" line, while incredibly manipulative, isn't wrong. Achillean's "i dont want to kill you, but I will gladly kill the deathsinger" (or whatever he said. Im still kinda feeling this line honestly) is sorta in line with this as well. I actually rather like that we don't know much about the ardoni masters who ordered the voltaris exiled in the first. To me, it fits better into the whole "nobody chose to be here" aspect of the show. Everything that happens is the fault of people long dead, who profited from their actions and never got any consequences (and Thalleous. Its a lil bit thalleous' fault as well). But yeah.)
///BIG SENN RANT OVER\\\
While i dearly love the Second Great War being the focus (as i said above, mmmh the sweet sweet consequences of actions taken by people long dead. What are we, if not the end point of generations of errors. Nothing could have been done to change any of this. Shes been dead from the beginning. Nom nom, tasty angst) YEAH I WISH WE HAD MORE OF THE FIRST GREAT WAR!!!!
Gonna be super predictable here and say i wanted more of whatever the prime wielders (except ria, though i love my girl) had going on like,,, how did achillean find it in him to fight ingressus. Did ingressus recognize Thalleous during the tournament. Did achillean know what thalleous did. Did thalleous know what achillean did. How did ingressus take them fighting side by side. How did thalleous take the prime being given to achillean and not him. How did ingressus find it in him to fight achillean. Did thalleous ever recognize ingressus as the kid hed thrown over the cliff that night, or had he already stopped seeing voltaris as people....... I have so many thoughts about them. World's most awful polycule.
(Also super curious about thalleous' childhood. Like. I know part of it is the primes, and part of it is probably propaganda but. Did something happen to him or was he always Like That. And Galleous!!! He deserved more screen time)
I would also love to hear more about aegus, just so i have a more fleshed out character to hate
It’s 3 fucking am in the morning last night and I wondered about songs of war plot in my head about how why there are no fucking civil war in ardonia when Rendor stepped down as a supreme king of ardonia. Like that shit happened every time in a normal political gap when absent of absolute ruler create power vacuumed. And also how other species reacted to this especially the ardoni. Do they always under ender knight controlled? They seem to have rule over themselves but what about their interactions with other species? Also the nether should attacked after enderknight disappeard right? Then how other kingdoms govern themselves. Do they have a group of senate? Or there are king of their owns. Why tf can’t we have the first Great War as a main story it’s 10x more interesting than the entire canon ender arc god damn it-
also long time no see gren. I love you
-old songs of war fan, currently rookie writer.
Hey there! Sorry for replying so late! School's been bothering me lately. I'll try my best to answer your questions, apologies in advance for any lore-related errors :D
"why there are no fucking civil war in ardonia when Rendor stepped down as a supreme king of ardonia"
Yeah, I do agree with your first question. How did the kingdoms not fall into civil war when their people rebelled against the End Monarchy? Wouldn't the power vacuum presented be literally ripe for the taking???
Btw If there was a Civil War then the Nether would've exploited this instability and attacked the Overworld sooner hgdsfgdshjs. A civil war that ended right before the Nether invasion could also explain the kingdoms' ill-preparedness
"how other species reacted to this especially the ardoni"
I don't know much about SoW lore except Ardoni lore so I'll answer the Ardoni part.
The Ardoni probably remained more or less the same due to the End's loose grip on them. I'd like to imagine that the End Monarchy probably let the Ardoni do their own thing so the Ardoni aren't displeased with their dictators. With the Ardoni being one of the oldest and most important inhabitants of Ardonia (given that the entire continent was named after them), losing the Ardoni's favour would mean losing the political legitimacy of ruling over Ardonia, given that the Ender Monarchs are humans iirc.
Moreover, as the Ardoni do possess Songs, which are extremely dangerous and versatile magic powers, an Ardoni rebellion would be extremely hard to quell. That's why I think the End Monarchs would be more lax to the Ardoni compared to the humans.
It seems like the people rebelled, in the end, so I guess the Ardoni were unhappy with their Ender dictator.
Are they always under Enderknight Control?
In the production files, a rough timeline of the plot is found, which puts the event of End vs Nether before the beginning of Ardoni civilization. I don't know if that's related to the Overworld? The question of when did the End began to rule over the Overworld remains unanswered.
The rest of the questions require a lot of brainpower to answer so I'll just answer the final one since it's the least demanding XD Maybe another day I'll take on those political questions you raised :')
Why tf can't we have the first great war as a main story it's 10x more interesting than the entire canon Ender Arc god damn it-
Soooo trueee!!! The First Great War had vibrant, legendary characters like Achillean, Ingressus, Galleous, Thalleous, Vulcannus, Pythus, Chronos, Rendor etc.... While our MC Senn's just... Here? (No offense he still has his struggles and an arc). Heck even Abbigail's more interesting! I wish we got to see more pre- and during First Great War content TwT
My final comment on SoW:
That's it for tonight! Hope we can get to chat again Anon! (Hopefully I can get to know who you are so I can reciprocate your feelings XDD) I wish you good luck with your writing endeavours ;)
#songs of war#mars' sow brainrot#im very normal about this show#as you can see#sorry for hijacking the post op

Borgen: We need to distract these guys.
Igneous: Leave it to me.
Igneous: Centaurs have six limbs and are therefore insects. Discuss.
All Magnorites in the immediate area: *immediately begin arguing*
Malakai, watching in horror: Oh this. I don’t like this. I don't like this at all.

Okay who? Grim is, well Grim, are two brothers who hate each other Thalleous and Galleous? Or Pythus and Vulcannus? Girl who can and will kill you dead...Abbigail? Cool boss is Ria, brother is Senn...I wasn't aware there were himbos...unless you mean Igneous and the other Magnorite whose name I forgot...who's the second in command who needs to loosen up? Oh and don't forget the dragon and the wolf ^_^
one of my favourite things on this site is seeing “sometimes a family is–” memes for fandoms i’m not from. because they read like the most random amalgamation of characters ever, and every time i’m like yep, sounds like an excellent family, very happy for them

I think Magnorites being immortal and old af like mountains kinda are would be funnier.
“Hi Igneous.” “I am centuries older than you. Millenia even. You are but a blip in my existence. Anyway do you wanna hear Glacian facts?”

While I am not going to continue (as in write a sequel) or rewrite Moonlight, I’ve been having a lot of ideas where Enderdragons are similar to a construct, kinda like Magnorites
So here’s an Obby for your viewing amusement
