She stares at the words on the screen, reading it over three times before the gravity settle over her. A second location was never a good idea. Eyes settling back on Alethea, she offers them a hand. "Wanna be my date? I don't want to go to this thing on my own."

When he exits the locker room, a towel draped over his shoulders and a swimming cap in one hand, Edward is surprised by the sight of someone sitting on one of the benches near the pool. Sunday afternoons tend to be pretty quiet times around the aquatic center, with people just generally going about with their businesses in town and preparing for the week ahead of them – which was why he usually went there then, to avoid conflict with the swim team, and to have some peace and quiet. So, at first, when he sees Lola, he feels a twinge of worry that he might have overlooked a schedule change or a notice posted at the door.  “Oh, hey.” His hands reach for each side of the towel instinctively. “Didn’t realize you guys had practice today. I can hang around and wait to use the pool if that’s not too much of a bother.”

kepler finds it difficult to resist telling people who enter the bookstore that it’s closed, even if it’s midday. at least they’ve been working on not showing it in their face. it’s a surprise, even to them, that they still have this job, but they suppose it’s got more to do with their relationship with the old married couple rather than his customer service. when lola entered, they left the counter and busied themselves with putting books that had been scattered around back in the shelves. they’d picked up five books, stacked against their chest, and thought they were safe since they couldn’t hear her. then suddenly, or what feels like suddenly, she pops up out of nowhere which makes him drop the books. “ fuck’s sake, ” they grumble, kneeling down to pick up the books, “ sorry. ”

Her voice somehow manages to cut through the loud thrum of music, her lithe frame slipping through the crowd in order to reach the blonde, hands pressing to their own face as they scan over the sight of her. "You look so good! You're so pink and sparkly — like an axolotl personified!" A statement that was questionable to some but intended as a compliment from their lips. "If only you could regenerate too..." There's a brief moment where her mind seems to wander with the possibility, gaze seeming to slip somewhere else before it zeros in on Lola's feet, on the rest of her ensemble and concern shifts her reddened features. "Which you may need to with those shoes. Have you been wearing those all night? That can't be comfortable." A statement many might make about Nixie's own bare feet.

"Please, you don't need to apologize." Words that are more assuring when paired with the laughter and shake of her head, far easier to get out of her own thoughts when she's able to put her attention on someone other than herself. "It was a narrow avoidance and my fault anyway. I think if one doesn't desire to get hit with a door they probably shouldn't be lingering directly in front of it." Heels collide with cement as she waltzes to the edge of the path with an air of showmanship, leaving room enough for Lola to join her if she so wished, without either of them being in harm's way this time around. "Though speaking of hurt, I am truly in admiration of you and your shoes." It wasn't the first time she'd noticed them, the impressive heels that adorned Lola's frame — beautiful but surely requiring a talent to navigate. "The boys may have won their game today but I fear your calf strength may surpass that of any our players."

Lola had spent most of the preceding week feeling miserable. It was hard not to, if she were being truthful. The conversation with Link still gnawed at her like a particularly itchy clothing tag, and all she wanted was to lie prone in her bed and feel sorry for herself. But the part of her that worried about missing out had won, and she had scrambled at the back of her closet for a dress she'd yet to wear, run a pair of hair straighteners over her fringe and set off for social interaction.

It had been fine, truly, until it wasn't, and Lola had found herself making a beeline for the outside world to get some air. It would be quiet out there, she told herself as she pushed the heavy door open. It would be empty. It would just be her.

Except it wasn't. "Oh, I'm sorry - did I hurt you? I didn't mean to open the door quite so forcefully."

"Did no one get 2024 glasses? What sort of New Years Eve party is this?" Ollie asked as he looked through all the party favors placed out on a table. He grabbed a bright sparkly hat paper, placing it on his head before he turned to look at Lola. "What do you think?" He asked, placing a hand under his chin and giving a wide smile. "Hm," he said with a sigh, "it's just not the same without the glasses." He looked way too regretful as he put the hat back on the table and shrugged his shoulders. Oh well. "Do you have any new years resolutions? Figuring out something you've done that you feel sorry about?" He asked, the corner of his mouth quirking up playfully.

QUOTE: “You never grow out of the things you love.”

BIO: Magnolia, or Maggie, or Nolie, or Lia, depending on who you ask, doesn’t have a lot to say to most people, but if one’s thing’s for sure: if she makes you one of her schoolwide-famous custom plushies, you’ve made a friend for life. After social media ads for her online plush store were noticed by some recruiters, she jumped at the chance to switch from her plain ol’ school to Rainbow High and follow her lifelong dream of starting her own toy company. Though not everyone understands her love of dolls and stuffed animals, she’s found her own clique where she’s both inspired and free to be herself, and as the only freshman of the Transfer Seven she’s kind of like everyone’s little sister. She loves to dress and accessorize in a similar way as her plushies—the fluffier, the better. With a sharp mind for business and a heart softer than stuffing, Magnolia’s sure to shake up the industry in big ways.

OTHER:

-Magnolia is autistic and largely nonverbal, only speaking when she feels comfortable and stimulated just enough.

-She gets overwhelmed easily, especially by large crowds, backlogs of assignments, and loud noise. In times of imminent meltdown, she retreats to her room and hides under her mountain of plushies for safety.

-She was born in Rhode Island and is fifteen years old.

-Her special interest/hyperfixation is plushies and dolls, and saves her money to buy her favourites as well as making and selling her own. Her room in the dorm suite has them stacked up to the beams.

-Her comfort object is her fox plushie backpack and she’s never seen without it.

-Fuzzy is her favourite texture and she wants it everywhere all at once—fuzzy slippers, fuzzy jackets, fuzzy backpack, fuzzy socks, fuzzy phone charms, fuzzy winter hats, etc.

-She’s actually quite good at video games, even fighting games, and is a regular at Renzo’s hangouts and tournaments.

-Pepper calls her Nolie, Sienna and Vera call her Maggie, Aubrey and Coral call her Lia, Renzo calls her Mags. She answers to all four nicknames.

-The other six dote on her to the point where it makes her slightly uncomfortable, but even Vera is known to show a kinder side of her personality where Magnolia is concerned.

-She loves pastel colours because they’re easy on her sensitive eyes and make her feel safe. Pinks, purples, and yellows in pale shades are her favourites.

-She wants to join the Sleepover Society.

-In terms of hair, she prefers non-elaborate styles with thick bangs—and plenty of room for big bows and/or decora hair clips.
