A Thought Passed Me By

Today was one like any other,

Until a certain thought passed me by.

Don't get me wrong, i sight them plenty,

These thoughts.

They stroll and blush and gush,

They strive to capture my attention,

I'll never fathom why.

Each day i merely shrug them off.

They really shouldn't waste their time.

Don’t they know,

My days are only spent indulging

In cherry pie and rhyme?

But this thought,

It was something special.

It strode with so much pride.

And yet i let it pass me like,

A common passer-by.

So after it i cried.

"What bounty do you bring", i asked.

I waited stiff for a reply,

It stared at me with weary eyes, sighed.

"I really can't remember now,”

It said,

“Let’s talk it over cherry pie."
