My English teacher is having us use Magic School (an AI thingy that uses ChatGPT) to get "feedback" on our work. How do I explain that 1. that's immoral and 2. not giving good feedback and 3. stealing our work

WRAPPING UP THE TERM AND WHAT IS UP SO FAR
Hello fellas! As we wrap up this term, it's a great time to reflect on how my perspective on technology integration in English Language Teaching (ELT) has evolved. Before taking this course, I was somewhat skeptical about the role of technology in language learning. I viewed it as supplementary rather than essential, primarily useful for enhancing engagement rather than being a core component of the learning process.
However, my thoughts have significantly changed throughout this course. I've come to appreciate how technology can transform language teaching and learning, making it more interactive, personalized, and effective. The variety of tasks we completed and the reflection processes we engaged in have been instrumental in this shift.
One of the highlights of this course was our use of Magic School AI. This tool allowed me to interview a functional character—Quasimodo from Notre Dame de Paris. This task was not only fun but also incredibly insightful. It demonstrated how AI could bring literature to life, providing a deeper understanding of characters and their contexts. The immediacy and interactivity of this experience were far beyond what traditional methods could offer.
In contrast, I found some of the web 2.0 tools less engaging. While they provided valuable insights into different teaching strategies, the learning curve for some tools was steep, and their application felt less intuitive compared to AI tools like Magic School AI. However, this variety was essential for understanding the broad spectrum of technological tools available for ELT.
The course has contributed significantly to my understanding of technology integration in ELT. Each task, from creating digital stories to using AI for interactive interviews, has shown me the potential of these tools to enhance language learning. The reflection processes we engaged in after each task were equally valuable, as they encouraged me to think critically about the effectiveness of each tool and how it could be applied in my own teaching practice.
To improve the class honestly, I don't find anything to improve in the class because our lecturers meticulously planned and executed every detail, ensuring a smooth and comprehensive learning experience.
In conclusion, this course has transformed my perspective on technology in ELT. I now see it as an integral part of modern language teaching, capable of making lessons more dynamic, interactive, and tailored to individual learning needs.
Hope to see you next term! Take care 👋

I hate whenever I think I came up with an original idea for a book but then realize it’s just made up of a bunch of elements from different things I’ve read.

It seems like just in the last few years people in my field have all moved from talking about "machine learning" and/or "deep learning" to talking about "AI." Usually they're describing the exact same thing, but the terminology has noticeably changed.

My Experience with Magic School AI"
Welcome again fellas!! Engaging with AI tools in my language learning journey has been an enlightening experience. I used Magic School AI for my project. Which was so fun and easy to use. The Magic School AI had so many features that it blowed my mind.
One of the most helpful features of Magic School AI was its feedback mechanism. As I worked on my report, the AI provided timely and constructive feedback, highlighting areas for improvement and suggesting enhancements. This instant feedback loop allowed me to refine my writing skills and produce a more polished final report. It was like having a dedicated tutor available around the clock, ready to assist whenever I needed guidance.
Another fascinating function of Magic School AI was its ability to facilitate interviews with functional characters. For my project, I chose Quasimodo from Notre Dame de Paris. The AI simulated an interview with Quasimodo, allowing me to explore his character in depth and gain insights into his thoughts, emotions and the things I wished that I could ask while reading the novel . This interactive element added a new dimension to my learning, making it more engaging and immersive.
Integrating similar AI tools into my own teaching practice holds great potential. For instance, using an AI tool to provide instant feedback on students' writing assignments can significantly enhance their learning experience. It can help students identify their mistakes, understand their areas of improvement, and encourage them to take a more active role in their learning process. Additionally, AI-driven interactive sessions with fictional or historical characters could make lessons more engaging and memorable, fostering a deeper connection with the material.
However, the use of AI in language learning is not without its drawbacks. One potential issue is the over-reliance on technology. While AI tools can provide valuable support, they should not replace the human element of teaching. The nuanced understanding and empathy that a human teacher brings to the classroom are irreplaceable. Moreover, there's a risk of students becoming passive learners, relying too heavily on AI for answers instead of developing their problem-solving skills.
Despite these challenges, the benefits of incorporating AI in language learning are substantial. AI can personalize the learning experience, providing tailored support to each student based on their individual needs. It can also make learning more accessible, offering resources and assistance to students who might otherwise struggle to keep up.
In conclusion, my experience with Magic School AI has shown me the tremendous potential of AI tools in language learning. They can enhance the learning experience, making it more interactive and personalized. However, it's crucial to strike a balance, ensuring that these tools complement rather than replace the human touch in education. By thoughtfully integrating AI into teaching practices, we can unlock new possibilities for enriching the learning journey.
You better check out Magic School AI NOW! Here is the website link and my interview with quasimodo:
