Project Hunger Touchstones
Tumblr media
Here are some of the touchstones for Project Hunger!
Van Helsing is THE touchstone for Project Hunger. Xenon and I (Root) watched the series and felt like the concept is perfect and exciting to play in a setting where the vampires took over the lands and what that would look like.
Tumblr media
Our GM ran the one-shot game using END OF THE WORLD system where we played ourselves including the fact that we are deaf. It was really eye-opening to learn there are multiple layers of decision-making process morally. This sensation enhanced our design process.
Tumblr media
Obviously, Spire and Heart TTRPG play huge role in our design process due to being the OG Sparked by the Resistance games. Despite the setting being different, we aim to put the same emphasis on the challenges of accomplish the goal despite the moral dilemmas.
Tumblr media
The Last of Us was perfect concept that married modern and post-apocalyptic vibe. We loved how the moral dilemma was presented in different situations. Some of weapons and items were factored in the process of designing starting loadouts.
Tumblr media
SEE is an incredible TV series full of moral dilemma and determing the price of survival. Plus, Sibeth and Maghra are the ultimate speakers! (PH class) Some of the characters inspired many of the advances.
Tumblr media
I am the Legend is obviously a big nod to the Hunter class because who wouldn't like to have an animal companion tag along and fight together? Some of creatures living in the dark place were definitely added a stroke of colors to the PH lore.
Tumblr media
Mad Max is such a classic and big inspiration behind some factions, gnarly ass vehicles made of random junk and spare parts, and perfect for scenarios in the desert!
Tumblr media
Fighting for life? More gores? Last minute decisions on jump scare? Resident Evil is perfect recipe to think of various scenarios with limited resources that we wanted to emphasize heavily on being mindful - after all, freebies are not so available anymore on the salvaged land!
Tumblr media
Dark, grisly...and NO MORAL COMPASS! Or is it? The Locked Tomb is a beautiful craftwork to be included in the design process including the concept of worldbuilding in the Network domain.
Tumblr media
----
What do you think? We would love to hear your thoughts about this! Always interested to see how touchstones could have an impact on TTRPG design process.
EDIT: Forgot to add one more touchstone, the Locked Tomb.

Jason Momoa and Nesta Cooper in See (2019) Fresh Blood
S1E3
Tamacti Jun returns to Payan following the conclusion of his twenty-year commission. Having failed to capture Jerlamarel and his children, he asks permission to take his own life rather than face execution. Queen Kane grants his request, but a courier arrives with Gether Bax’s water bottle message at the last moment. Thus, Tamacti Jun is sent out to complete his mission.
Meanwhile, the Alkenny tribe decides to attend the Fall Festival in order to mate with new people after Souter Bax gives birth to a deformed baby. Maghra insists that Kofun and Haniwa stay behind because they will be put to death if their secret ability to see is discovered. However, the teenagers sneak along anyway, and Kofun is captured by slavers. Hawina rushes to her parents for help, and Maghra learns of the group lie—her children have been reading Jerlamarel’s books. Baba Voss reveals that his father was a slaver, and he was too for a time. He rescues Kofun by killing several slaver guards. During the scuffle, Hawina saves Baba Voss’ life using her bow and arrow to kill an attacker.
This marks the beginning of the twins’ divide. Kofun wants to stay with the Alkenny tribe even after all that he has learned, whereas Haniwa wants to leave and explore the world. Once home, the group realizes that Tamacti Jun and his army have discovered their waterfall hideout.
