me being potentially unreasonable but i need somewhere to vent bc all my friends are ignoring me 😭

ok so my lease ends on wednesday and i am leaving tomorrow morning (monday) and my flatmate who has been away for the summer told me he was leaving on tuesday so i just assumed he would come and go on the tuesday. bc that is what he did last time we moved. but this morning he messaged me and said he would be “dropping round” this evening (the wording of this has sent me west bc wdym dropping round bc that suggests hes not staying but like of course hes staying bc it would be silly to come and go again in such a short space of time)

but this is just making me so anxious because WHY is he coming now he knows im here (like obviously he lives here too but he’s been almost actively avoiding me the past couple months and also ive been living here alone all summer). like im already stressed enough but its just adding another layer of stress to the situation. also my parents are here helping me move so thats just gonna be awkward with all of them mixing together (esp because he is such an odd and awkward person but not really in an endearing way like it is often very uncomfortable to be around him for me personally)

all in all i am about to have an unbelievably stressful and awkward evening lol and ik its dumb that im mad at him for coming back before he said he would but like he is so strange and abnormal in a way that i cant vibe with (i fear we r clashing forms of autistic) like i know EYE am strange and abnormal but i am a girl 😭 and also he doesnt help the situation because he has been actively rude to me in the past and i believe that he does not like me so im just dreading seeing him,,,,, gonna stfu now okay

nobody asked, so here's my take on Nina and Maggie's storyline.

in general, i can grumble about how I'd wish their personalities outside the budding relationship arc were handled better; yet I have to admit the ending's impressive. Neil wrote an entire wlw sideplot to showcase the problems of the main couple through their respective counterparts. it sits well with how Aziraphale and Crowley treat humans sometimes. there's a bonus of haha, gotcha, you fell for the character's façade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer, in the way you automatically assume Nina equals Crowley and Maggie = Aziraphale. it's also fun to figure out why they are the opposite. maybe not enough to sustain the need for watching fully fleshed-out people on the screen, but still a bonus.

the thing is— you're ready to leave, a bit disappointed when Neil takes your head, turns it gently around and says "watch now". at the last possible minute, he invites the precious cardboard cutouts of our ineffable duo to sit on the couch — the special therapy lesbian friend couch — and he lets the toxic relationship survivor say, out loud, "actually, we didn't enjoy being the narrative mirror to your forbidden gay romance :/". you don't even get a second to wheeze what before the soft one chimes in with, "right, especially since it didn't work, because you still haven't confessed your feelings :// get loved idiot."

it doesn't fix the lack of substance, but I'm just saying. show me a TV show writer so self-aware his script choices aren't too fair to the L and B in the LGBTQ community, who decides to apologize by... making out sloppy style with the fourth wall??? i'll wait.

i love how wild Logan is in the deity AU he truly is an untamed animal compared to Dalton and Oscar (ex: tendency to bite, giving gifts like a cat, needed a blinder to calm down). Is there any reason behind this?

Okay so I'm hoping future installments will showcase how other people exhibit their god's symbol's traits, but for the comparison with Oscar and Dalton:

Oscar: Poppy's symbol is a koala who doesn't really have instincts besides sleep, eat, have sex and i tried to show that a little bit in the guard dog chapter of dogged, like he's just there to experience the best things in life and get pampered

Dalton: So this is interesting bc Dalton was 100% as feral as Logan when he was a kid. He's so exasperated with Logan in first kill bc he's been in his shoes and knows Logan is being Weird and he's the only one who can be like "hey stop doing that". Also, in first kill, the urge Dalton had to start yelling at people definitely has to do with the kind of instincts his god symbol has.

The main difference is that Oscar and Dalton's gods are gods of IDEAS and Logan's god is the god of an ACTION. that's why his powers appear a lot more viscerally, bc he's drawn to carry out that action.

Two people who act the same way is Max and Daniel. Max's god is the god of conquest, so he has a kind of similar hyperfixation to dominate. Daniel's god is the god of escape/fighting against being trapped so he definitely acts feral when he gets put into that situation, in the same way Logan goes very animalistic when he's put in a hunting position.

Logan doesn't act feral all the time, he only acts like that when he's in the process of hunting something. it's just that's what the idea spurned from and i love to write it so he's always in that mindset lol

After Melissa divorces Joseph, it’s not a suggestion—not even close.

It’s a fact.

“You’re coming to stay with us for a while,” Barbara says one night when they’re all having dinner together, and Melissa’s hands are shaking so badly that she can barely chop the vegetables for their stir fry. The kindergarten teacher secures the knife and hands it to her husband, who lightly touches Melissa’s arm before capably taking over.

“Nuh-uh, nope,” Melissa vigorously shakes her head as Barbara refills her wine. “I’m not imposing on you two.”

“You’re not imposing,” Barbara insists emphatically, with all the righteous indignation of a tent-revival preacher.

“Not at all,” Gerald agrees, his voice soft, barely audible over the rhythmic percussions of the knife. “We love you, Mel.”

The Howards have talked about this—night after night after long and charged night. Neither of them want Melissa, their closest friend in the entire world, to be alone in the wake of a tumultuous divorce, and yet, they refuse to even so much as broach the topic of what it means that they both jumped at Barbara’s suggestion that they invite the younger woman to share their home with them, nor do they discuss how the effect that it produced upon them was instantaneous.

(Of one mind and of one accord, they’d had the best damn sex that they’d had in a long time.)

“I love youse guys too,” Melissa shrugs helplessly between swills of Merlot, “but I’m fine. You don’t have to worry about me. I’m—”

But whatever protestation that she’d been going to make is immediately undercut and undone by the fact that fresh tears are forming in her eyes, and oh, God, she hates that. She hates crying in front of others, hates appearing weak, but it just hit her that she’s going to be alone in her big, empty house again tonight, and she keeps having nightmares, and Joe—

Fuck that bastard.

That utter stronzo.

She still miss him all the same.

“You’re not fine,” Barbara finishes for her, gently encircling her hand around Melissa’s slender wrist. Her chest thrums at the touch, all of her nerves electric, but she holds on. She doesn’t ever know how to let her best friend go. “And that’s perfectly okay, sweetheart.”

“Let us take care of you, Mel,” Gerald adds without looking up. “You’d do the same for us...”

Melissa looks between the couple, tender and so speechless, her heart an obstruction in her throat.

But eventually, she nods once to show that she’s understood.

She’s absolutely not fine.

She needs them.

(And they want her—they really do!—and she pathologically needs to feel wanted. It is the only way she ever feels secure.)

“Shit, last time I was in a threesome, I didn’t feel nearly as warm and gooey on the inside,” she tries to joke as she leans into Barbara, as she finds herself soothed by Gerald humming to the Sam Cooke song warbling upwards from the record player.

“Melissa!” Barbara cries, torn between amusement and alarm. 

Gerald chuckles, and it’s a rich, crooked sound that settles pleasantly upon them all.

“You’ve been in all the wrong threesomes then,” he smirks, winking at both of the ladies. 

And Melissa laughs so hard that she feels as though she’s going to bust her damn remaining kidney, and Barbara desperately tries and gloriously fails not to crack a smile.

They have a lovely rest of the night, eating dinner and drinking wine, talking about everything and nothing.

They make plans to go over to Melissa’s house later and grab her clothes.

They’re doing this.

this is currently my main wip and its my baby i love it a lot. it's jegulus and wolfstar and dorlily as like the main pairings but focuses mostly on sirius and regulus. the whole gang (regs friends excluded) are at a lake house for two months in the summer and it's like a lot of hurt/comfort and angst but also falling in love and just like life!

this is what will become my longest fic and ive been writing it for so so long but i always come back to it. it's centered around the black family (sisters and brothers) and how each of them left home, the lives they created for themselves, and how they come back to each other. except regulus was the last one left and when he did leave he became an author and wrote a series of books each centered around one of the 5 and how they left. the fic starts as he's writing the last book, which is his own story and it's set to come out on his birthday. i love this one because i love the blacks and exploring their dynamics

death eater jegulus. james and reg dont break up when regulus gets the mark but that causes james' friends to stop trusting him and all he feels he has left is regulus, so he gets the mark too hoping that he will be able to protect reg and have a happy life after the war. and then connected to this is a one shot of a scene from chapter 2 of iryatt but from james' pov, i wish you'd left me wondering both of these are such a good kind of hurt because it's all based in love and trying to protect each other and how things can go wrong so easily
