I just want to point out that OP is not 100% wrong. But this isn't about which colours are the "real" primaries; it's about which ones are the best primaries to mix to get certain secondaries, and why.
The primary colours are red, yellow, and blue. If you're going to mix your own secondaries, you will need some sort of red, yellow, and blue to work with. But there are a lot of colors that are considered red, and a lot of different pigments that make all those reds. Some produce warm, opaque reds like Cadmium Red. Others produce cool, transparent reds like Quinacridone Rose. Cyan/magenta/yellow is still a red/yellow/blue primary set!
Let's look at OP’s colour lists:
Cadmium Red: Very slightly orangey red, opaque.
Quinacridone Rose: Slightly purplish red, transparent.
Lemon Yellow: Slightly greenish yellow, semi-transparent.
Hansa Yellow: Very slightly greenish yellow, semi-transparent.
Ultramarine Blue: Very slightly purplish blue, transparent.
Phthalo Blue Green: Slightly greenish blue, transparent.
All of these are valid colours to use as your primaries when painting! It all depends on what you’re going for. If you want more violet tones, Quinacridone Rose and Ultramarine Blue are both nudged slightly towards purple. And if you’re trying to make a vivid purple, they’re way better choices than Cadmium Red + Phthalo Blue. Those two are nudged towards yellow—which is the opposite of the direction you want to go. You’ll get a darker, murkier purple instead, for the same reason that straight up mixing yellow + purple gets you a muddy brown. Complementary colours (the ones directly opposite each other) do that in paint mixing; you get the same effect with red + green, or blue + orange. Hansa Yellow will be a little better at making orange than Lemon Yellow will, because it's got less of a bluish tinge to fight against the orange.
You’ll also get muddier, less vibrant colours from mixing more opaque paints. This is another reason the transparent Quinacriodone Rose is better than an opaque red for making purples that really pop. You’re already going to have to contend with how quickly blues darken the mix; you don’t need the opaqueness sucking out the vibrance too.
But sometimes you want less saturated colours. Or warmer/cooler colours. It all depends on what you're going for. Luckily, you don't actually have to pick ONE red and ONE yellow and ONE blue to use forever! That's not what primaries are about! You can use a different red to make purple than you use to make orange! The police can't stop you!

Green actually IS a primary color. There's just multiple sets of primaries. Yellow, Blue, Red is the classical set of primary colors as named and described in the middle ages.
but in modern day, painting and printing is done in cyan, magenta and yellow, in which cyan is a bright, greenish light blue, and magenta is a purplish pink.
and computer screens function by using blue, red and (drum roll please) GREEN! these are the colors that the cones in our eyes perceive, and are therefore pretty distinct colors to recognise. in these primary colors it's actually yellow that's the odd one out, being a secondary color achieved by mixing green and red light. it's red, green and blue that are in a sense equidistant in hue from each other.
How come when there's three things that are red blue and yellow and they need a fourth it's always green? Who decided it always got to be the honorary primary colour?

This is a tutorial on how to color correct scenes. Mainly, I’ll be showing you how to do that for yellowish or greenish scenes. You could also use this for reddish and purplish scenes as long as you know how colors work.
Things you need:
GIMP
G’MIC
How to install the plugin and make gifs
Fixing Greenish Scenes
1. Open your gif frames and resize, sharpen and crop them like usual.
Tumblr media
2. Open G’MIC (Filters > G’MIC) and set the Input to “All”. Now, under the filter column in G’MIC, find Testing > Runounours > Curves and play around with these values to give some brightness and contrast to your image.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hit “Apply”.
Tumblr media
3. Alright, the first thing I like to do is fix the temperature of the gif. As you can see, this gif is kinda greenish but also has a warm yellow tone to it. So, let’s go to Colors > Color Grading in G’MIC and move the temp down to ‘cool’ it down a bit and make it more neutral. Hit “Apply” when done.
Tumblr media
The easiest way to color correct a scene is to use some reference point. Since we’re color correcting it, things that are white should appear white. Therefore, I could refer to his eye and make sure it’s close to white.
4. Now, find Colors > Mixer [CMYK] to adjust the yellows and magenta. Move the Shift sliders (not the factor sliders). The shift sliders will adjust your yellows to be a bit more magenta or more yellow depending on where you shift it.
So, firstly, I would shift the yellow a bit to the negative side to make the gif even more purplish blue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, I move the Magenta shift a bit to the positive side to add more of it to balance out the whites even more.
Tumblr media
But now, his skin looks too magenta-ish. So, I will move down the cyan shift to take away the ‘blue’. I know this isn’t theoretically correct but just imagine magenta is purple and cyan is blue. So, how would you make purple a bit more red (the tone of a normal skin color)? That’s right, you will have to take out the blue, which in this case is the cyan.
Tumblr media
And that’s pretty much it. :)
Fixing Yellowish Scenes
1. I’m starting this from the step after I have added the brightness and contrast.
Tumblr media
2. Again, this scene is kinda warm, so we’re going to use the Color Grading filter to cool it down and make the things that are supposed to be white white.
Tumblr media
3. Using the Mixer [CMYK] filter, let’s adjust some of the blues in the scene. As you can see, when I cooled down the gif, his black shirt is now much more blue and we don’t want that. Then, I just go ahead and adjust the magenta and yellow shift sliders accordingly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, we have to do an extra step cuz all the parts that are supposed to be black look blue.
4. So go back to Color Grading, and turn up the shadows. This will make all the dark parts much darker and closer to black.

Fixing Reddish/Purplish Scenes
1. Most probably you would have to cool down the temp of the scene.
2. Using Mixer [CMYK], bring the cyan shift to the positives and lower the magenta shift. Then adjust the yellow shift accordingly depending on your gif.
I hope this tutorial has been helpful. :D Feel free to ask questions.
